Once in a while, common logic is not the answer, is it? -finance relatedWhile you may be correct, I think in the end I would have been largely discarded. I feel like due to the time of my marriage, the needs of my kids, and other considerations, that a prenup would have cost me more in the end. As that would likely transition this from amicable to contentious and as well all know thats how the lawyers win. The real advice is just dont remarry unless I am going to get spousal support from a higher earning wife in the event the relationship breaks down. Thanks | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/23 07:36 PM
Once in a while, common logic is not the answer, is it? -finance relatedThanks for this. One thing I was considering was moving just one town away. I can save a lot but still be close ~within 10 minutes. Conveniently my work has a gym I am a member of so that is nice, and most areas I am looking at delivers on parks, shopping etc. This is good advice thank you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/23 07:32 PM
Once in a while, common logic is not the answer, is it? -finance relatedI wish it worked this way where I live, but it doesn't. Thank you for the feedback, it is a dumb move - fiscally, thats why I mentioned sometimes common logic doesn't add up the way we need it to. I think the answer would likely be to move one town over- save about 30% on a equivalent residence, but only be 10 min away. But also maybe tap the retirement a little to feel comfortable. Thank you for your comment, I will say this is not a crunch time decision, I have been wondering this for a year a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/23 07:30 PM
Once in a while, common logic is not the answer, is it? -finance relatedI checked with my Lawyer about this already. I was told that this would only work if the marriage was short term. It is 10 years now. I did give those details and info to my lawyer, but it doesnt seem possible. This gives me something to think about. What I had been negotiating before was that I receive my retirement, but it is valued at post tax scenarios, while the transfer of the house is obviously value at post tax figures. That way the fees and what not are baked in to the settlement in a w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/23 07:26 PM
Once in a while, common logic is not the answer, is it? -finance relatedI appreciate the idea and strategy, however, I am just looking to get out as soon as I can and the lawyers already know all of the details. I worry this would cost me much more in the long run, as it seems this is not going to be drawn out in court. Also, it feels a bit like fraud, having said that if I was plotting out years in the future, maybe this could be sound advice. Thank you. :) | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/11/23 07:22 PM

AssetsSay you’ll walk for 30% and fight for 50%. Up to her. You need a new place to live and furnishings. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/23 02:32 PM
How did you decide to call it quits?Lots of reasons should have been enough, but the day the light switch went completely off is when I was asking “Why can’t you show me any love or appreciation” She said “I can’t give you that while I think you resent the children. “ I love my kids. I realized there was not ever going to be a time when I am living up to every expectation she had and she would defer the reasoning in the future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/23 03:14 PM
How did you decide to call it quits?I did. I would have had trouble initiating if I didn’t feel like I tried “one last thing” | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/06/23 03:12 PM
Is it worth it to have kids anymore?Whoa that quite some plan you got there. Good luck. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/06/23 04:03 PM

STBX moving out of house with the help of common friends. Feeling so sadI need to learn this so much but in every area except marriage. I kill myself over mistakes. Just not the relationship that’s ending. I did so much there and was left out in the rain. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/01/23 04:52 PM

Did anyone here try telling your spouse that if they don’t contribute more then the marriage won’t work out?Truer words. Never spoken. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/01/23 04:19 AM
Female Nature: Never take responsibilityI hope this is my future. Did you have kids? | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/01/23 12:03 AM
Female Nature: Never take responsibilityGood way to put it. I’ve otherwise been thinking : Great job, you finally made me feel so low, so unlovable that now I am so strong in my convictions that ending this is better for you that now I can not be convinced otherwise. Great job. Let’s see how things go. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/01/23 12:01 AM
Female Nature: Never take responsibilityHuge time here brother. Zero accountability. Zero. The breaking point for me was when I asked “Why is that I can not receive affection or appreciation from you ever? Her “Yeah I was thinking about that and sometimes it seems like you resent the children so I don’t want to give you that” Me One thousand bazillion mile stare. Walks away in my head - This is clearly an irretrievable breakdown. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/01/23 11:57 PM
Welp. She just reached outI keep doing the “husband” stuff while I’m cohabitating because 1. It serves the best interest of my children and 2. So when the “free” inhome carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic general handy man etc leaves maybe that will be the first time she has the self awareness of how little she appreciated what she had. If 2 never comes to pass, I still did it for the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/11/22 02:59 PM
