This is why I think it's better to be single whether you are male or female. I always hear about stories of abuse or divorce where someone loses half their wealth, and I always think it would not have happened if they would have just remained single.

Also another consideration is that many women are pre-empting abuse and avoiding it completely by staying single forever. In Australia for instance the statistics show there is a rising trend for women to be single. https://www.abc.net.au/news/health/2018-06-17/why-women-are-staying-single/9873956

If a man is in a country with too few women, he can always passport bro.

Government ultimately is the one who decides how to structure their visas, so they can set whatever terms and conditions they want.

I'm referring to the hassles of sharing a car. Suppose you have to go to work at 9am but your spouse can go to the same work at 11am but she decides to share the car with to save money so she needs to wake early but wants to sleep in and you try to wake her up because you don't want to be late for your shift.

I should have caveated that you should live with your parents if you can and they are happy with it and you get along.

Yea that's my point. It's the kids that cost money. I think the estimates put one kid at $400k. So the total fertility rate in most developed countries is about 1.75 so you can expect about $700k in expenses mkre if you're coupled because you can expect 1.75 kids. This does not apply to gay or lesbain coupes or those heterosexual couples who are very good with contraception or use surgical sterilisation. Another idea to consider is the cost to find a partner, attract them etc. So it may be makeu…

Unless not getting along means you lose a lot of money and/or the sex leads to pregnancy, in which case you lose a lot more money.

I'll take the car to the garage to get the tyre fixed Here's the problem. One person means you only need one car. Two people means you need two cars, so there is more to repair. Unless you share a car. Then the car sharing means you slow each other down having to plan.

Dual income means more money but expenses rise. There might be some economies of scale but once you add in the risk of pregnancy then you're worse off financially unless someone gets a vasectomy or tubal ligation. Even the condom has a reasonable chance of failure/sabotage.

Even better financially is to live with your parents for free.

These useless jobs where you are paid to do nothing are very rare.

Sex frequency is just another term and condition of the contract. If you don't like not getting enough sex, break up the relationship or speak to a divorce lawyer.

If a marriage fails and no one is physically abused or financially impacted, there doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm talking about problems that result from failed marriages eg abuse, financial impacts etc.

Indeed. But generally a man whose marriage has failed is not physically abused, and because men are usually expected to be the breadwinner, they have a high paying job to fall back on if the marriage fails. However, divorce may destroy a breadwinner financially and perhaps we should blame the man for that given he didn't do proper risk management.

Women need to change their mindsets. They are more that the sex they offer.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/23 01:44 PM

don’t we need objective standards here No, each woman decides their own standards for men. Of course it's subjective. Who ever said it's objective?

Being single and independent seems to work for you as a man but do you think this is something women can or should or would do? Many women work nowadays and are educated and have careers, so maybe men being single is driven by women being single. Or perhaps it is the other way around ie many men are being single and that is driving many women to be single? There are some who believe that women need men more then men need women. Certainly a lot of women seem like they see themselves as appendages…

What do you think about a sharehouse which usually has single people who share internet and rent? Someone who lives with parents also shares costs but it may be less likely to be 50/50.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/23 09:57 PM

A good example is a sharehouse. In a sharehouse you live in a bedroom and share the bathroom. Usually they do not allow couples to go into a sharehouse as it makes the house congested. Or they charge more for couples.

I kind of doubt it would be common in China, which is the birthplace of the "lying flat" movement.

We should also consider that there is an enormous amount of people on this planet, about 8 billion, so there is no shortage of people. However there is a finite amount of land, oil, rare earths, etc. The laws of economics state that higher demand coupled with fixed supply results in higher prices.

There's nothing wrong with sex tourism. People have been seeking sex or marriage from faraway places for a long time. Even when we travel interstate and find love, is that sex tourism?

The entire point of civilisation is to suppress human nature eg property laws suppress the human nature go steal and a acquire wealth from others.

Kids need parent who can not only afford to take care of them without being a tax burden but who can teach them about money/investing The best money/investing advice is to never have kids. Parents teaching this to their kids seems hypocritical.

If a woman's main concern is money, then it seems like the DINK route would be the best way to go instead of getting divorced. A two-income household with no kids gets you more money than you with one job and child support (i.e. only part of the man's income) and kids to have to spend money on (assuming you get custody too). Playing devil's advocate, the argument can be made that a DINK couple is more likely to divorce and if there is a divorce the woman will get less money because there are no …

High density is the solution. It allows supply to be increased where there is high demand. But the problem is nimbyism blocks a lot of high density development.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/23 02:48 AM

In mang of these cases it is not choice but necessity. People need to be close to where they work, and work is a necessity.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/23 02:47 AM

I think it would be helpful if there is better zoning allowing for high density housing. This will allow supply to be increased easily (just build upwards) where people like to live eg near family and friends. But nimbyism prevents this.

Just like releasing expensive new cars causes second hand cars to become more affordable over time, so too releasing expensive new unaffordable housing eventually causes regular housing to be affordable over time. There is a good video about this at https://youtu.be/s61Gb4RUsck Regardless, it's supply and demand. The supply of land is finite and population continues to grow. Either we cause depopulation to fix the problem or economics will cause depopulation via inflation.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/23 10:57 AM

It's not abnormal. The reason why houses are so expensive is because there are eight billion people on the planet and land is finite. The basic laws of economics says that house prices must go up unless we can cause depopulation.

Having kids and a family is not necessarily altruistic. Many people do it for selfish reasons eg wanting someone to look after them in their old age.
