"And if the sex stops then we're no longer exclusive" lol

In all honesty, probably mostly companionship and stability at this point.

I never said that's ALL I do. In fact it's a relatively small percentage of time. And assuming I'm a slob because I might put a dish on the counter to rinse and put in the dishwasher later rather doing so immediately is kind of a leap. I also didn't say I am unwilling to travel. It seems like you read my post and just jumped to the conclusion that everything wrong with the relationship is my fault.

So I guess it hadn't totally stopped by then, it just felt less than it did the first year. Definitely became a dead bedroom after we married. I enjoy doing things with her, I'm attracted to her, she's thoughtful and a hard worker. She comes from a similar background and has a lot of the qualities I like in a woman, it just seems like how we prefer to spend our free time is pretty different and it was harder to see that during the honeymoon phase.

I totally get the idea of vetting, and it should be done based on what you find useful/important/etc. I imagine that trying to causally kind of just bring up random mental health medication in a conversation can only be extremely comical.

"I just need some time right now" would be a better thing to say. It's obvious you're not fine. 😏

Oh damn. I'd have told her the only time anyone can drive my car is if you need to take me to a hospital.

That's when you tell her she's cooking dinner, you're doing dishes and you're both putting the kids down together.

All of this. Also, if she divorces you when you have no income that will obviously be beneficial for you financially. File the paperwork now before you find your next better job as the commenter above says.

I think the book you're actually thinking of is No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover

I don't think you get custody because she can't afford it brother. She gets custody and you pay her 1/2 of everything is more like how it works.

I do not recommend getting a dishonorable discharge. But if you happen to seek treatment for depression during service, be sure to attribute it to anything other than your wife. After you get out, live off your wife and don't get a job. Continue to seek treatment for depression. After she divorces you, get a job and file for compensation benefits.

There has to be a subreddit about nightmare tenants that can't be evicted....not that you'd ever want to do that.... Just saying

I'm starting to realize that I'm probably the prototypical "nice guy." So I'm going to try and start working on that. I'm so laid back or w/e that I never really find fault with anything she does... or doesn't do ... around the house. Also, based on things I've been reading I'm starting to be convinced that it's less about what tasks I didn't do and more about ...maybe, things I've stopped doing to promote intimacy and attraction. Still trying to figure it all out

So I guess I didn't write this in my OP, but I don't just sit around waiting for her to tell me what to do. I do things I think need doing but then she finds other things I didn't notice or think to do. Then because of that experience I'll will ask her (because I can foresee the same thing happening if don't) but she'll just say I shouldn't have to tell you.

We'll, I think you probably do have a point about trying to make her feel special. She definitely scored highest on acts of service on that test and I was physical touch. Looking back on things I'd guess we'd have been considered as mismatch as far as love languages go. She probably feels like I never do enough to show her that I care but on the other hand, the fact that she never initiates physical touch and we've got a DB, I think it's fair to say that she hasn't put any effort in there. At le…

It's comments like these that make me think I'm putting in way too much effort but somehow feeling like I'm not putting in enough. I guess I never thought about it how you described.

Boy, that's a good question.... maybe I'm trying to figure it out. Was your reply a serious reply or......🤣 If it was a serious reply maybe you can direct me to the proper rant sub.

This makes so much sense to me. Same deal with the phones and watching TV. She'll have shows on that she wants to watch (don't interest me) and sit on her phone the entire time. But if I'm on my phone reading something about my game or another nerdy hobby it's like, "see! All you do is think about your game!" Actually, the worst is when I get in trouble for not doing something when we're watching a show together. Like.... it's a series we chose to watch together, at that specific time.....then a…

That last sentence made me legit lol. Just funny given the seriousness of the situation (at least to me). I appreciate the sentiment of your post though.

Sorry to hear that, but also congrats it sounds like. I'm mostly just a PC gamer. I think the fact that I work in the office and also game there bothers her too.

The thought has crossed my mind. Though even when we first started going out and had sex regularly I always had to initiate it...so maybe there's something more to that.

I can assure you that is not the problem. If she offered to replace my game time with sex, I'd quit gaming cold turkey.

Nothing better than one of those days when no one but you is home, you get your favorite food, and hop on the game. Priceless. I feel this so much. She was out of town a week ago for a few days and I felt like I could breathe again....just be myself and do what I like with fear of reprisal. I did miss her by the end, but having that uninterrupted time to do what I like was glorious.

DB stands for dead bedroom. She definitely feels like she's doing the bigger part of the work. Feels like.... She doesn't need to tell me to do things. Depending on what I do around the house, there's always something that I didn't do. I'll clean the basement or do laundry but I didn't clean the kitchen. Things like that.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but those 8 to 15 hours a week is already all the time I have to do my favorite hobby. Not sure what else there is to sacrifice at this point?

Really wondering that myself at this point. Guess I've just been trying to be optimistic. Also, both of us don't really view marriage as something you can just easily throw away. But I've already been considering your point.

I'm 38m she's 42f We haven't talked about it but I'm starting to think it might be the only way to save the marriage at this point (or it might help solidify whether that's not the best thing to do).
