I assume you magically glossed over the fact that I said we are both looking for work? I didn't say having a stay at home spouse was for everyone. I said my dad liked it. He was the kind of guy that liked to work and not sit on his ass on Reddit all day, like me.

Wow, how foolish of me. I feel so silly now. I should apologize...naaaah.

Oh I see, you think it was because my mom is a housewife that he decided to leave. I have to say it's kind of odd that you pick the woman out of this and choose to force the blame on her, even though there are multiple despicable things that my dad has done lately. To be honest, picking out the woman and forcing the blame on her sounds a lot like the kind of shit that SRS pulls when they pick the man out of the story and force the blame onto him. I despise SRS, hell, I got banned from there afte…

I don't understand why you are having a hard time understanding that my dad LIKED having my mom at home managing the house. I think that because his parents were divorced when he was young he had some kind of urge to have a "traditional" family. I love my dad, but it's hard to connect to a man who is closed off 99% of the time. I think if you met my dad then you would understand. For instance, my sisters 15th birthday was on the 10th, and of course Christmas is coming up, and yet he decided to a…

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I re-read my post and thought I was being too hard on my dad, but these guys are just jumping on his dick. I thought the guys here were proud of being more open than feminists. Edit: Do you know of any subreddits regarding divorce or something of that nature?

I'll be the first to tell you that if my mom had worked instead of cooking and cleaning all day, and then come home and chilled out like my dad did then the house would be in ruins and me and my sister would never have had a decent meal in our lives. Not to mention that he completely supported her doing it, he loved having a clean house and a hot meal. He's kind of a traditional manly man. I'm making it my responsibility. My dad might love drinking and smoking more than the family, but I love th…

My mom and dad had an agreement that he would work and she would manage the house, and that's what she did. My dad worked all day, and my mom cooked, cleaned, and raised us. She is, and has been, looking for a job for 2 months or so now. Supporting my family and making sure they have a place to live is infinitely more important to me than my own education. My mom won't be able to replace my dad's income on 1 (or even 2) full time minimum wage jobs.

I'm considering something like this as well. From what I have learned from my friends she participates in a lot of after school stuff. Perfect chance there. Edit: I'm also torn about if I should even bother. I start college in 4 months and it might just be cleaner to not even bother.

Great advice man, and now that I think of it I do have a chance to talk to her with a friend of mine around. I have an opportunity to make this happen, at least. Edit: Just looked up IoI in the sidebar. Several times she has mentioned her boyfriend when I may have hinted at us getting together, which I thought was a solid IoD. But lately she has been more talkative and friendly towards me (Picking me specifically when we had group work, wanting to talk more etc.) so I really don't know if there'…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
