Penny is not relationship material, and his relationship with her would be pure charity in reality, Leonard would be swimming in more accomplished and intelligent women, and they would have values more in line with his (read not useless) unless she was like 18 and he was 40 and he wanted someone to crank out kids for him. Staying at home to raise kids is not a privilege, neither is going to work. Both are services to others, one is rewarded financially and builds value over time, one does not. Generally, is a poor blanket statement, and removing all lifelong alimony means at some point your children are going to be subsidising your life style, with you on a tropical island with your mail order bride when you decide to trade up.
