Exactly. This is why vetting has to be taken seriously.

I think you're half correct. Men shouldn't be expected to be perfect; I know my husband has flaws and I'm okay with that. However, there is a difference between flaws that you can accept, and flaws that gnaw at you and erode your love for him. Those traits vary from woman to woman, so I cannot provide a list of them. I know for a fact that I am genuinely okay with some things that some other women couldn't handle. For example, my husband started a business and lost a LOT of money, which made his…

In my experience, no. But that's not to say it's completely impossible. As someone who has had time to think mistakes over and can look back with 20/20 vision, this is what I would suggest: The first step would be to sit down and really give some deep thought to why you have lost respect, and make a list of those reasons. Then you need to sit down and be honest with yourself; think about whether or not there is anything he could possibly do to gain back that respect, and be realistic about likel…

Yeah, I think I would agree. Communication is paramount in a healthy relationship and it's important to talk about it before it develops into something that can't be fixed. You should always, always, always try to fix things before calling it quits.

Disagree. Obviously, other things matter more in the long term, but curb appeal matters more than people want to admit. It doesn't matter if the interior of the house is fantastic if the exterior doesn't make someone want to look inside.

People can still have preferences. As long as OPs partner isn’t asking her to go above a healthy BMI, then the ask is reasonable.

But that isn’t how relationships, romantic or platonic, work. You aren’t accepted as you are, nor should you expect to be…. pretty much ever. You’re expected to grow as a person, to listen to feedback, and to compromise/sacrifice. It’s not a pleasant truth, but it’s true. It’s this individualist mindset that’s killing social adaptability because once you relax into the mindset of “I need to be accepted the way I am” you’re going to atrophy and people will get tired of providing feedback that isn…

I disagree with this. Your partner should have a say in what you look like, because they’re the one who has to be sexually attracted to you. As long as you can trust them to be honest about how you look, I’d say their opinion should take the forefront, male or female. Also, self-image is often unreliable. OP mentions that she likely has body dysmorphia, and trying to determine our own level of attractiveness can often backfire into an eating disorder. If OPs SO thinks she would look better with …

A: I’ve gotten a lot of compliments about how “different” i look in comparison to the people around me. i never leave the house without full makeup and hair (i mean ever), i have a signature sense of style, and i carry myself very confidently. i have also been told that i have an aura of confidence. i think this is because dont attempt to cover up things i don’t like about myself, rather i try to accentuate the things i love about myself and my body, and i allow my flaws to be seen as i work on …

I think that this should be part of the vetting process. I think that a few dates in, sexual habits and preferences should be discussed, even if you haven’t had sex or plan to have it soon. It’s important to have the same sexual values and that’s something that should be defined before you get too attached to someone and start making excuses for them. I’m sure it’s possible for men to start using porn more once they’re married, but usually they’re using it as much as they’re going to when you me…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
