Post Divorce GuiltI have the opposite. My ex is now doing all the things I wanted her to do when we were together. I left her because she wasn't who I wanted her to be, now someone else will get to have her how I wanted her to be in the first place. Crazy to think about, but I'll be better off and hopefully happier when I find someone that is already how I want my other half to be. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/25 07:48 PM
Tough day today. Guess this is the ebbs and flows. It's a very tough situation for sure and I wish you the best in getting through it. Social life is probably the biggest thing I could suggest, but creating that when you don't have it is not easy, especially while avoiding alcohol. Check local reddit groups to find activities, same with local Facebook events. Maybe find a club or group to join. As far as the kids go, I can speak from hindsight that I highly recommend documenting EVERYTHING she is or isn't doing that negatively affects the kids s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/05/25 01:10 PM
Well, I started the processMy youngest is 20, but other than that I'm in a similar situation. After a year of being semi separated, I finally told her I couldn't do it anymore, I wasn't in love with her and that wasn't going to change. She moved almost 800 miles away back up north where the rest of the kids still live a few weeks later. She took it upon herself to tell all the kids without asking me. I still don't know how the kids actually took it but she told me they had some pretty bad things to say about me. I don't k… | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/05/25 11:13 PM
Was it you or her that caused the divorce? It was 100% me. Over the last few years, I basically realized I lived her but I wasn't in love with her. We were basically roommates that had great sex. I told her it rant fair to either of us. She deserved someone that wanted to be with her and I deserved to be with someone I wanted to be with and didn't feel like it was an obligation. Now for the irony... Since she moved out very recently, I think I've taken it harder than her. But I think a lot of it for me is just the fear of being alone sin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/25 01:50 AM
Not attracted to women my own age…I'm 47 and I find a lot of women my age not very attractive, but I find plenty that are very attractive. At this point in life, you either aged well or you didn't. For those that didn't, it's very noticeable. When you marry young it could be a crap shoot on how they age. Starting over at this age, I know how it's gonna turn out in the aging dept. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/03/25 01:37 AM
What apps was she using to talk to other peopleAs much as you think you want to know, you really don't. Some things, once seen or become known, can't be unseen and they will eat at you. So yourself a favor and do like others in here have suggested, get a lawyer and get away from her and the temptation to snoop. Besides, these days, there are so many possible apps to communicate, it's hard to know what she may or may not be using. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/25 05:57 PM
Pictures of the ex.I'm not quite to that stage yet, it's still very early in this whole thing for me. I already plan to pack them all up for the kids. She's still their mother, they still love her, I'm not taking that away from them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/25 05:23 PM
Help on dealing with the pain.I never said I dint think I can enjoy life without them. If that was the case, I would have done whatever I could to keep them. It's the right of after 21 years, I'm going to walk in to essentially a completely empty house, not even my dog to greet me when I walk in. Having someone there, whether it's the dog, my kids, my wife, that's all I've known. Processing and dealing with that right now is what's hard. Thinking about how different everything about home life will be now, is what I'm struggl… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/25 11:23 AM
Help on dealing with the pain.I have already been working on bettering my relationship both with my daughter who we text almost every day now as well as with my other kids who other than big things have generally passed info on to me through my wife in the past. Moving closer is possibly an option in the future but it would basically have to be approved by my employer, as my job is slightly conditional on my location. The good news is, I'm really good and they can't afford to lose me, and since I'm mostly nowhere near home a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/03/25 07:04 PM
