I think the mental and emotional things that men are drawn to are just different - “I want to fall asleep next to you while you watch your favorite show” is not the “I want a man that moves heaven and earth to save me” kind of story. There’s not much representation of the kind of mental and emotional connections that do appeal to them and so a lot of men aren’t even really aware that they have them or are and just don’t think it’s a thing that they can get. Most men just want emotional and menta…

I’m not even saying that from a sexual attractiveness point, I’m saying it from a “being better able to physically defend yourself” one.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/10/24 02:28 AM

The ideal would be having a man’s physique with women’s social norms.

Men just want to wake up next to someone who wants to be there and doesn’t have a laundry list of fantasies about how that man will be. I don’t think it’s necessarily traditional roles that men are after but that current ones depress the hell out of them since it seems like we’ve turned over a stone where half the population has fundamentally different expectations and desires about how human relationships might ideally operate. Feels like women have much higher expectations of both a partner an…

To not have to worry about mattering.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/24 12:54 AM

Yes but for the opposite reasons. Nobody is motivated to do anything from porn. The effects it has are essentially just that they demotivate men from doing anything, for better or worse. Sexuality is a major motivator for men and I honestly think mass availability of porn has led men to struggle in school, work, and relationships because they are content on significantly less if the sex side of things is somewhat satisfied through porn. And sex is just a disproportionately strong motivator for m…

I mean, the Middle East would make it easier. But I’d never feel comfortable with the general restrictiveness overall (including upon women) nor would I ever be able to trust that the person I’m with in that hypothetical actually loved me. That’s the downfall of all the passport bro, red pill, traditionalists side of things. Is it easier to get the relationship and the sex? Yes! Is it possible to ever be sure you’re together from some authentic free choice? No. The ability to say no is the only …

I’m partial to the belief that a lot of people, especially men, forego their interests early on in favor of trying to be useful and then need a place to put that usefulness because there’s no other motivation once you’ve abandoned your interests long enough ago to not even remember what they were. Nevermind to have attained mastery of them. And unless there’s a profound place to be useful, there’s really no motivation for men to get up in the morning.

That’s because kids are literally the only reason for us to get out of bed. Give me an air mattress, clean running water, electricity, and an iPhone and I’ll work about 10 hours a year. Women can work now and have just as much opportunity as men do, especially when factoring in education levels. Everything you see about fertility, birth rates, childless cat ladies, etc.? That’s all projection. Men are spiraling because we’re left with no reason to try for anything nowadays - unless one has kids.…

The entire point of “blue pill” is that there isn’t a “pill” and seeing an entire gender of people as some sort of blob that you can write a set of code to get sex out of is both selfish and inaccurate.

Cool - the argument is simple - The Red Pill shit offers nothing for you except, I guess, a Romanian prison if you get too far into it and do the human trafficking stuff It certainly isn’t worth the money Hell, if you’re that interested in leveling up to get to sex, why not just use the money on escorts or the time on porn? If it’s all just sex, why not cut out the middle man? And if it’s not all just sex because you actually do want a romantic and social connection to a partner, hating their ge…

It’s really sad, honestly manosphere stuff promises men that they’ll be respected by and powerful to women but it really just makes those men seem pitiable and hysterical to them. Like, we’ll give shit to the chicks signing up for essential oil MLM’s and then open our wallets for someone to sit behind a camera and tell us vague advice that you could get better for free with ChatGPT. There’s really no use in opening up emotionally to someone. It only provides them with something to use against you and does nothing to change how they already feel about you or whatever venerability you have anyhow The only real place to open up is in therapy, where that’s the extent of your relationship to the person and it’s legally confidential

Sure, but does that make you better? Because I feel like “men are just into ass and tits while we’re into real shit like tragic backstories” is the kind of thing that is generally true, a dismissive generalization, and a source of shaming men for how they develop attraction or relationships: I’d argue that there are benefits, in fact, to the “ass and tits” approach for humankind, just as there are benefits to the “deep true love” approach (I could rant for days about that stuff because it’s rath…

All I’m essentially saying is simply that people have both unrealistic and contradictory expectations. Men and women both do, but I’m specifying the particular ways in which this manifests from women to men; rather than the other way around or any other gender dynamic

In general, I’ve experienced in my life a theoretical open mindedness that exceeds that of men, but in practice, a sense that women still expect men to pay for stuff, open the car door, be dominant, etc. You can certainly find people that are accepting of you. But I feel like women in general overstate their degree of compassion and openness to differences They’re not falling head over heels for pegging femboys and being a millionaire that dates cashiers, for instance. No. They were just less insecure because the wife couldn’t leave. We’re afraid of being left behind and alone nowadays, so a lot of people grasp at nostalgia But in reality, as bad as the present is, the past was worse for men too At least now, men can cry, marry rich, be emotional, take care of themselves, etc. I would say that the open mindedness surrounding men doing that kind of thing has certainly not caught up with women doing the inverse of it But the past just sucked ass for everyone, th…

I don’t think they actually hold those views, at least in many cases Instead, what I see is them pushing buttons, trying to figure out where the line is, trying to challenge women, etc. They basically read the stated goals of women/feminism and think “alright, do you actually hold this position?” You say you want equality, are you prepared to leave your kids with dad for business trips? I think the biggest problem with relationships between men and women is that, many times, people seem to need a dry run of a serious relationship before understanding the practical reality of it
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/24 01:19 PM
0

I don’t think it’s that they don’t care, it’s that they have fewer alternative options to romantic relationships when it comes to inward fulfillment. Most single men are lonely because, if they aren’t in a relationship, there’s a bigger side of themselves that they feel they have to hide every day.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/08/24 07:24 PM

It’s weird but if it provides an emotional and mental boost, I don’t see the problem with it.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/24 07:19 PM

Sure, but what does that have to do with the question? A woman can’t want marriage over casual sex because she wouldn’t want to get attached to someone that’ll leave?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/24 10:31 PM

In what way does that scenario have anything to do with the question though? That isn’t what’s being asked.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/24 10:20 PM

I’m not sure why I’d want to be set aside as casual sex when marriage is deep and loving.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/24 11:29 AM

Generally, yes. Or at least in that ballpark.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/24 01:20 AM

I think the biggest issue is the inability for men to trust women with their honest selves even though it comes out in plenty of obvious enough ways that leaving out the parts of yourself that you’re ashamed of does a disservice to any relationship. You don’t get to live true to yourself and your partner gets a less than ideal version of whatever you are.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/24 01:18 AM

I think “10/10” here is supposed to refer to “hotness” and not age.

What you focus on and what matters to you are not the same thing. You might be turned on in the moment or think your preferences are one thing, then settle down and see things very differently than your split second self did. I think men are capable of both objectifying women way too much and fiercely loving them; perhaps too much, too.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/24 07:31 PM

They don’t care; they’re terrified of being alone themselves and the possibility crystallizes itself more if you are a straight single man who is lonely yourself and yet seeing examples of women not just being happy with other men, but with women or even by themselves. Fwiw, studies actually do show that single childless women are happiest, among all gender and relationship combinations. But I think there are a multitude of factors with that, which are way beyond simply saying that men suck and …

The modern world has simply opened up a chasm where women have higher standards and goals than men do. Before AC, dishwashers, washer/dryers, etc. having bigger goals was a matter of survival. These days? A man with a window unit, washer/dryer, a fridge, Xbox, phone, and basic roof over his head has about as much as he cares for. He isn’t going to be motivated to work 90 hours a week to get promoted and make more money so that he can live in a good school district with a white picket fence, 4 ki…

/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 08:27 PM

It is seen as unmanly to request emotional care and so women spend more time guessing about it than men do simply advocating for their own needs.

Same reason women don’t watch porn geared toward men - Sets up incredibly unrealistic expectations that make your partner feel like they aren’t good enough; even though it is consumed just for fantasy and sexual kicks.

I honestly think that it does and more men should dare to question it. There’s a cult of self improvement gurus that prey on the inner guilt that people have due to decades and even centuries of cultural conditioning which says, essentially, “to not improve is to be lazy”. And yet, you, the flawed person in need of improvement, is the one deciding the details on what improvement even is? It doesn’t make any actual sense and, inevitably, when it falls apart because circumstances are simply more b…

Yeah exactly. How many men are working on power lines? Or plumbing? According to ChatGPT, several hundred thousand to one million in America. That’s roughly 1.15 percent of men in the workforce. Chances are that you don’t work those jobs either. That isn’t to take anything away from those who do work in these jobs, but they are not nearly as commonly held as that kind of rhetoric implies.

In terms of not abandoning people and sacrificing for people, you don’t get much higher on the scale than e.g. nurses during a pandemic. I’d simply make the argument that caring for people is more integral to human wellbeing than fixing things from great heights and one of the tragic aspects of men’s social norms is the risks expected for things that honestly are not as important as they are deemed.

If there’s a crisis afoot among men due to a lack of responsibility, grit, and traditional manly values; it’s really fucking weird for so many men to freak out about it by worshiping YouTubers who’ve never worked a real job and who present ideologies that conveniently blame everyone else for men’s problems. How do you expect to get “the old manliness” back by clinging to adolescent lullabies that just point the finger at everybody else and ask zero responsibility or risk on the part of yourself?

/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 02:52 AM

In my experience, it’s easy for people to blame women for a very real problem that simply isn’t their fault. Just because there exists a terrible cultural norm on men that people are at various stages of letting go of (or not letting go of) doesn’t mean that women are at fault for it. Most women I’ve ever met just genuinely don’t care that much about income.

I think men treat everyone worse equally, tbh. More likely to start wars, support cruel politics, act recklessly or violently, murder and violent crime, etc. Hell, we’re even worse to ourselves. Just look at suicide rates. I think that’s the much bigger issue. It isn’t so much that men treat women better or worse than vice versa. At least relative to how one generally treats anyone. But that any kindness and gentleness in boys is historically seen as something effeminate to be beaten out of them…
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 02:33 AM

No. But neither can women. I think a lot of the issues between men and women stem from us not realizing that the other side of the coin feels similarly. Even if not about the exact same things, they have the exact same feelings about something.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/24 04:27 AM

Being a man. I think people mistake the (potentially correct) idea that being a man can be harder while you’re growing up vs. once you are in any sort of position of power or experience whatsoever, you’re going to have a better go of it for the rest of your life.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/24 03:22 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/24 03:05 AM

Yes and most men want a woman that makes him feel manly while paying for everything, taking care of the kids, pegging him, and being perfect too. Let’s face it, everyone wants the best of all worlds. That’s a human thing and shouldn’t really be treated as an issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/24 09:12 PM
3

In general, I agree with the sentiment but I think a lot of men spend so long seeing their socioeconomic status as transactional that they don’t even remember what they value or are interested in. Or they’ve spent so much time away from it that they lack the skills and experiences to be successful at their own interests because they’ve never practiced them in 20 years.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/24 03:48 PM
4

I’d say so. But implicitly, boys learn from a young age that you’re on your own except for whatever family you can make once you hit adulthood. So what really happens is that boys from a very young age put their own interests and values on a back burner and instead look at everything through the lens of an economic transition from there. I think if that changed and boys could develop their own interests and values for longer in childhood, you’d have men with more intrinsic motivation and less co…

Literally nobody cares. If you can afford an extra ten bucks a month for roadside assistance, who cares if you can change a tire. If you buy preassembled used furniture, which is cheaper anyhow, who cares how good you are with a drill and wrench? Obviously, things like furniture assembly are useful skills to have! But the notion that they have some gender bias in need or ability is absurd in 2024.

No, I’m simply saying that there are times and places where different actions and personalities are advantageous. The idea that there is one ideal way for all people to strive for, that supersedes all others is just not factually accurate, from an evolutionary standpoint, anyway. To some degree, yes, there are some things that women will disagree with you on that aren’t worth fighting about. That may seem foreign, but there are some conflicts not worth fighting and there’s a point to be had that…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/24 09:11 PM

Meh, times change and so do advantageous and disadvantageous traits. We don’t live in a time where it makes sense to try to kill each other and be ultra competitive about life. It makes way more sense, and is way easier, to simply cooperate as a society. But that’s just today. There have been and I’m sure there will be other times and places where other traits are advantageous. The idea that the human race utilized only one type of person to get ahead is silly. /r/PurplePillDebate06/01/24 08:12 PM

I think the pressure on women to be good mothers is just way too intense. The closest thing I can equate to it for men would be providership. Where any given moment that you don’t perfectly identify with that role, you’re left feeling like an inadequate version of your gender/identity. So you end up feeling like you’re a terrible person every moment you check your phone instead of paying absolutely 100% of your waking attention to your kid.

I mean, it’s mostly just a story regardless and whether or not you feel like a story relates to you matters a lot more than the actual specifics of a character.

I’m that way with female characters and I’m a dude. It doesn’t really have much to do with gender so much as relatability and personality. I could see myself in the shoes of Bella Swan, Bellatrix Lestrange, Katniss, etc. ahead of a lot of other characters regardless of gender.

But what is creepy? Most of life is just listening to someone if they tell you they aren’t cool with something. Do you think most men actually want women to back off? I think it’s largely the opposite and that by contorting it into a competition, the actual needs of men and women get neglected. Instead of trying to drown out the things that matter to women by trying to compete against them, why not actually advocate for men to have more help in the areas that they actually need it disproportiona…

The problem is threat level. Men have a level of threat to us that women just don’t have the other way. And sure, you can point to anecdotes of men being murdered by crazy wives, but that’s very unusual and notable because it isn’t common. Men, in the most basic sense, pose more of a simple physical risk to women than vice versa. And it isn’t even men’s fault. Men can’t control random men killing women either, how people feel about relative threat levels across gender lines, or what data says. B…

I think they are. Zoom out a bit and it’s only been a generation or two since women were allowed to even work or go to college. It’s understandable that women are still skittish about dating men that have less career potential than themselves because honestly they’ve not been allowed to have career potential for very long. Why do high effort women want low effort men? I mean, it isn’t like there’s not plenty of women that put a ton of effort into their own lives and “settle” for men that don’t. A lot of the time, people have very personal and specific things they like about their partners. Not every relationship is possible to just put an objective debit and credit system to. Things are subjective and dependent on what one needs in a partner.

I think it just hurts to feel like men are always needing to level up to women. It makes it impossible to feel like anyone can love you, for you. If you have to compete and try for something, it just reminds you that you aren’t currently good enough for it. I think a lot of men are just reaching a point where they’d rather test the waters with dropping out of life and having flings and FWB than feel like their lives are only valid once they’ve achieved something.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/23 05:54 PM

Absolutely. If someone is treating you unfairly, you don’t have to just take it out of some fealty to masculine stoicism.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/23 06:15 PM

Women, overall. But it also isn’t that different either. Maybe like a 60-40 thing (60% of unrealistic expectation havers being women, 40 men). Only reason I say so is because men will settle since life is much lonelier for them otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/10/23 05:20 AM

All of them, really. There’s not some secret woman club that decides to make life bad for men or something. Life just gets lonely and saddening, and when you’re taught to see so many things through the lens of competition, it’s habitual to feel like you need a reason or place for blame for anything bad that happens. Shit can just be shitty. I have no idea why women are somehow therefore at fault for everything. They’re not in control of all that stuff, in any case, either.

/r/PurplePillDebate22/10/23 02:14 PM

Oh totally. I think in my case, the last few years have proved to me that you simply cannot put women on a pedestal and yet they continue to refuse to actually accept their own shittiness in just the same way that men refuse to accept ours. They don’t want to accept men as they are, they would rather just have a bf that’s some caricature of a romance novel protagonist. Why does there need to be? Is it not perfectly possible that many men aren’t attractive to women, are lonely from that, yet that women also have no obligation to date them? Nobody is required to do anything. But that doesn’t make it easy or fun for people that crave partners and can’t find them. One thing that I think ruins discussions about relationships and attractiveness is that we focus so much on the people involved and not the relationship between them. There’s plenty of men that, imo, love being on the eye candy/sugar baby side of the looks vs. providership dynamic as much as women do. I don’t think you really can separate the social and the personal. Many men that accept this do so because of how other people make them feel about it vs. alternatives. If men got as much respect for being a stay at home dad as being a six figure career guy, they would do that a lot more.

No, I’m saying the opposite I’m saying that at some point, you’re not under any obligation to have our approval Most of us know exactly what it’s like to have situations where what we need on a personal level differs from what someone else does Sometimes, that simply means not being with that person But who are you trying to convince? Why do you need men to accept your choices and decisions for them to simply be valid? If someone doesn’t approve of you being single/childless/etc., you should fee…

Try to do nice things according to what they themselves would want? All the time. Try to genuinely listen and do the things that would truly make me feel better? Rarely. It’s like there’s an inability to accept that different people or two people that simply have different experiences could also have different needs. Like if you aren’t overjoyed at the same treatment that women might be overjoyed by then they feel like you’re saying their preferences aren’t valid.

If you don’t want to get married, don’t. But presuming that all men everywhere will always just amount to vampires that suck you dry is… presumptuous at best. If you truly want to give up on men and not get married, then do that. You don’t even need a reason to anyway. If you just simply feel better single, then do that. Why the need to launch missiles about it?

What I’ve honestly found, anecdotally, is that divorced women and single bachelors often have remarkably close lifestyles. It seems like, once you have something hit that strips away the habit of social pressures, most people really are not that different. Most just end up wanting a certain floor of comfort, which may vary by the person, but end up accepting that there’s no way to ever reach some sort of perfect life, in any way that you might measure that
/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/23 01:49 PM

God, and people wonder why it seems like women hate men these days. I’d be pretty pissed off too if I was being talked about like stock prices on CNBC lol “Another bad day on Wall Street, as Kimberly saw a wrinkle in the mirror” is a pretty fucking dehumanizing way to look at other people.

When has this ever been an actual issue, beyond age gaps that are always seen as bad in general? I’m not sure where, comparing equivalent age gaps individually, people ever think much less weirdly of a 75 year old woman dating a 20 year old guy than if you reverse the genders there.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/23 04:25 AM

Derailing what? Many of these standards are being formed because men aren’t really seeing that a lot of the choices are also being considered between simply remaining single and dating at all It isn’t simply a matter of competition between men, but whether or not someone sees partnering up as even worth it
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/23 07:45 PM

The thing people don’t understand about “women’s standards” is coercion Women are often just vocalizing what they’d like to have, rather than setting some standards that they expect men to always meet because they’re now in positions of independence enough to actually have preferences and that’s a good thing I would rather make my partner’s life better than make them marry me because they felt obligated to, were financially reliant on it, or whatever other form of indirect coercion Yes, the avoi…

It really depends on what, precisely, you mean. I’d say that if your threshold is “informally accused in a manner that alienated peers in your life currently”? Pretty slim if u have a decent head on your shoulders but not entirely nonexistent either. If you mean “accusations that result in permanent damage like courts and criminal charges”? Probably would have better luck with shark attacks.

Obviously, there’s plenty of shades of gray here I’m not saying women should just go for a deadbeat But for e.g. a workaholic CEO that has a lot of money is a terrible idea in the long run and people would be better off accepting and even encouraging somewhat more mediocrity among men with regard to work.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/23 12:13 PM
2

Exactly. The pursuit of those types of men (or their imitators) is a driving force behind how fucked up everything is. Women are better off dating mediocre men that are grateful for the small things in life. Not some asshole that thinks he’s king of the world because he invented an app.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/23 03:09 PM

The thing is, in the long run, that social conditioning is actually damaging. The reason why it seems like so many men feel entitled to women is because, frankly, many essentially go about their careers and lifestyles on the notion that they’re doing what their partner or future partner wants. The entire issue between men and women would be moot if both actually met in the middle - go on a relatively inexpensive road trip, spend less on rings and weddings, if you’re a highly educated and high ea…

I have a particular feeling that “the bar is so low” is a mix of both true and the fact that men feel so low on themselves that they are content with the bare minimum. Most dudes I know would feel perfectly content in a mediocre studio apartment with a lawn chair, air mattress, TV, iPhone, and Xbox. At least for awhile. So long as they’ve got indoor plumbing, internet, electricity, and safety from the elements. By contrast, most women I know are far beyond that and want to live an elaborate life…

I think the real “male loneliness epidemic” is simply the lack of ability to just go outside and get even a mild amount of activity in. You go outside and there’s a six lane highway in suburbia or people see some random dude walking down the road and call the police. Everyone has cabin fever - spending all their time inside a house, car, or workplace. For those with more testosterone to burn, this is a bigger problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/23 07:42 PM

The thing is? Being nice to someone is better than being mean to them, if you want them to like you. I’ve no idea what the RP people are smoking but putting so much thought behind everything and coming up with all sorts of contradictory psychological theories about how to get women to like you is not a recipe for success or your own mental health. Why not just do the nice thing and stop holding onto a need to get a specific result every single time? Some people won’t like you, no matter what you…

History zigs and zags but I don’t think we’re going back to the dark ages It will go conservative, then liberal, then conservative, then back again. But I don’t think e.g. we’re going back to a time when homosexuality is criminalized or something (at least in western countries and without a massive strike or something if anything close to that were forced on people)

/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/23 04:21 PM

I feel like half the problem with men nowadays is not accepting that women are as varied as we are. I’m guilty of this myself just as much. You might find, say, 2 in 10 women get the ick from a man being overly emotional/empathetic/submissive/whatever and it can stick in your head as “all women are like this”. I would count the comments and upvotes and just do the math. Just because some women exist that don’t want men to go to therapy and be emotionally available certainly doesn’t mean that all…
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/23 02:56 PM

I think a lot of the time, people simply are drawn to novelty. So fewer Caucasian women probably makes for them to be more sought after in your context. But I don’t think that’s really got much to do with actual physical attractiveness; MiddleEastern women are pretty!

I think a “meeting of the minds” type of thing is a goal in and of itself. Filtering out by specific ideology (red pill/manosphere vs. feminist/lefty) subreddits gives an inaccurate big picture portrayal of what’s actually going on

Yup. Now it’s like, men need to figure themselves out emotionally or else we’re dependent on women to an unhealthy degree. It’s not sustainable to have a culture and society where seemingly most men are “women or bust” and get extremely depressed/suicidal/emotionally destroyed by not having a partner. I think AI is an advancement in this respect, Most see it as a potential replacement for sex but I kinda see it as a replacement for emotional connection. Similar to how giving robot stuffed animal…

I simply don’t think women need it as much, especially not anymore. Traditionally, the irony is that men only made ourselves particularly useful in the sphere of financial security but women don’t really need that anymore. Not necessarily just this sub or even mostly it, but reading so many of the things women say has actually made me empathize with other men more To be clear, I’m still pro choice/left/would ally with feminism on 99% of my politics, etc. But the degree to which “men = bad” seems to be the vibe is quite something and makes me feel a sense of discomfort and feel unwelcome in feminist spaces Perhaps to a large degree, I had hoped that women were full of sugar plums and kindness, and that such an atti…

I guess it depends on the relative importance you feel to different social connections I think men often assign more emphasis to romantic relationships and if we’re taking “dying alone” to simply mean “dying single”, I think it’s much closer to even. I’m not sure dying as an unclaimed body and feeling completely alone would, in practice, be that different than dying with a million connections and being mourned the world over, but feeling completely alone

This is a basic natural reality of socioeconomic development. Greater wealth and technology in a society leads to lower birth rates. Sure, but what way is productive and what way is performative? Just because something is a win for you in the short term, does not mean it always will be forever. Poor Andrew Tate might even be drowning in pussy, but if you give it 60 years, he’s going to be on his deathbed with a bunch of people that he hurt feeling happy that he’s gone. Seems like a terrible way to go, honestly.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/23 04:45 AM

I think the problem is the other way around - so many of the men that have issues dating blow up and hate women, so naturally, at some point, women just start assuming that any guy with dating problems hates them. It poisons any potential for empathy because they’re so used to you blaming them for it. It sucks to have issues but nobody can help you much if you blame them for it.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/23 04:37 AM

Do you never have times when you have mood swings and feel emotional without a particularly good justification for it? I think we all do and they just don’t want to feel alien for having feelings.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/08/23 12:35 PM

It feels like biggest problem with self improvement in general is that there’s not enough of a critical lens on what, exactly, ought to be improved in the first place. So many people end up working so hard to correct things that were never major problems at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/23 10:26 PM

But the way they’re talking about it, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s all just about a desire for constant free sex, from anyone they want, at all times. The way these dudes talk about their loneliness issues doesn’t do them, or anyone else, any favors.

So why not go fit in with the entirety of that role and test drive it for yourself? The thing feminism fucks up on is not providing any room for men to say life is fucked up for us too. Why not both?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/23 05:46 PM

Why would it be wrong? It’s just a preference. That being said, I think it’s just one of those things where every a-hole misogynist is probably going to want a submissive partner But that also does not mean that every man that wants a submissive partner is an a-hole. It’s more just the closeness of association. But that doesn’t mean anything for an individual person necessarily.

I think it’s gotten more common All dating really is, is about matching people based on the smorgasbord of things they bring to the table. If dating in 2023 means that a less physically attractive woman can go out, get a Master’s Degree. work for a Fortune 500 company, make 500k a year and snag a dude making 30k at the warehouse but who looks like a Michelangelo statue, that’s probably the best thing for everyone because it gives more people more options and more ways to be successful. Obviously…

I would love them because they’re just cool to have around. Not absolutely everything has to be about your ability to eternally bone other people. Even ones you find hot, you can still hang out with and play important parts in each other’s lives, even if you never smash. It’s sad that this is something so few people seem to understand. But just because you’re attracted to women, even particular ones, doesn’t mean you then must have every part of your entire concept of them be about sex.

I think younger men are giving heavier women more chances and younger women are giving poorer/less educated men more chances It’s not an all at once thing, but I think people are aware that the traditional “gender goals” are not necessarily matching reality and society is in a transition towards accepting that

I think millennial and Gen Z men are caught in this weird middle where older generations criticize them as useless for making less money, not having a degree or full time job, etc. and their peers that care a lot less about it. So it’s dawning on a bunch of younger men that the implied goal for men of socioeconomic success (to get a partner and have a family) wasn’t even necessary (because women don’t really need men’s money, even though any extra money is always nice to have) and they’ve commit…

The issue isn’t intrinsic qualities in men or women, so much as the fractured nature of the relationship between us Tbh, I think 95% of gender issues would be solved if women would pay on the first date every once in awhile and men would change a damn diaper every once in awhile The roles and needs have simply changed. You’re not going to find many partners, if you are a man, that have time to clean up after you You’re not going to find many partners, if you are a woman, that can provide financi…

Okay, so we’re going to go about calling her an abusive person for her doing a few things wrong? /r/PurplePillDebate14/07/23 02:54 AM

Eh I think this is correct but for the wrong reason. I think the biggest problem is that men/women will read the worst posts by the worst people about how they should all die in a fire and, because those posts are often engaged with 500,000 times (precisely due to the fact that most people find them appalling), hateful things will simply get more traction on the Internet than kind ones It’s basically the same as anything else wrong with the internet

Too many women are insecure about having their own preferences, when in reality, that would be the most relatable and best thing they could communicate to men “I’m just not into you” is at least better than this But men also need to learn how to take bad news that feels embarrassing, like rejection

Sometimes, relationships just don’t work out. Jonah Hill is a former fat guy and probably hella insecure about being passed up for other dudes by women he dates. She’s perfectly in the right to not like that and end the relationship But not every relationship ends because a man is a misogynist or abusive. At some point, women, too, need to accept that they can have preferences without needing to morally defend them If she just didn’t like his insecurities or personality or whatever, that’s good …

There’s truth in this. Given that men and women are both, overall, capable of providing for themselves, opposite sex relationships naturally have to evolve into a state of friendship or there’s no way that they can be sustainable If all your partner is providing are logistics - whether that’s money, sex, breastmilk, chores, etc. - but you don’t actually like hanging out with them, your relationship is going to crash and burn once some of those logistic needs are not necessary. Yeah but like… we do this too, it’s just normal for us. We want a soapbox to make our experiences known and to feel empowered like that too. To basically have our life story seen and read. That women are doing so now is not very different from what we have done all the time, except the fact that women are doing it They’re just people too and you can’t expect people to be perfect. Nobody wants to feel like their existence isn’t seen.

Yeah it’s weird. Like if you give yourself a chance to cool off the horniness side of things, you end up in a much better headspace with opposite sex friendships The unfortunate thing is that most of the advice to men treats it like it’s the opposite process When really, we often get horny first and attached after lol
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/23 12:05 PM

Yes. While I’m probably more likely to feel attraction to them and it makes me feel guilty/bad, I’m also self-aware enough to respect their boundaries and I honestly appreciate who they are as people and the things they’ve done for me, even if I was attracted to them and they said no You don’t have to fuck or be in a relationship with someone to care about them and appreciate them. And they don’t have to give you that to care about you
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/23 09:07 PM

Obviously, it would be a lot better for women because they wouldn’t be traumatized and frightened But people discount how much better it would be for men, too, because you wouldn’t have to wonder if the other person is just faking kindness to you so that you don’t kill them
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/23 02:30 PM

Women and men are brought up in distinct roles that demand distinct coping mechanisms to navigate them. Men’s and women’s seemingly different behaviors are simply human beings navigating different mazes.

I think men and women need to just drop everything and start over at human-ing; as friends without expectations. Loneliness among men, for instance, is not going to be helped by pigeon-holing any nonsexual relationship between men and women as friendzoning. I have no idea why having a female friend isn’t a win for guys simply because they might not be down to fuck you.

I think men showing emotions is one of those “price of admission” things. Basically, does it suck when it goes badly? Very much so! But is it also one of the best things in the world to feel like you can be emotionally honest and vulnerable with your partner (or women generally)? Absolutely! I would honestly argue that men have been doing that forever and, well, what happens next? I think seeing these things as black and white blinds people to the reality that everything in life just isn't that way. I think video games are simply a symptom and not a cause. Most straight men, imo, internally tie most of their self-worth in the eyes of women to their jobs and income. In an era where a lot of men (and women, but I do think the social expectations differ) can basically just hope to move boxes or pour coffee forever or fear being layed off every 3 years, even from a supposedly good job, there's simply a mismatch. I think it’s more the case that women tend to favor traits in men that are simply different doses of traits that they often deem toxic otherwise. Men are usually either more chill or favor traits that are all in a particular direction, rather than a happy medium. I think women’s desires in masculinity are more of a complicated and high stakes balancing act for men to attain, whereas what men desire of femininity is more in one direction, with less severe consequences for failure.

Or maybe the extent to which men crave relationships is the extent to which our biological evolution is coalescing around the simple fact that being a nicer person is better on the human race? For all of the arguments about what is natural, there seems to be a massive element of taking your eye off the ball. The most fundamental instinct is to stay alive. And you’re absolutely right that that has everything to do with physical ability and social acceptability. But, at the same time, reading what you are saying, it sure seems like the things in your head are just as fucked up. And I can respect that. That’s cool and human!

Most of the men that feel sadly high levels of longing for women do so because they were hurt by men (often fathers) back in the day and turned to women a long time ago as their only source of emotional comfort.

Are we more narcissistic or less ashamed of accepting how narcisstic we’ve always been?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/12/22 03:45 AM

It makes sense. How can I tell where “I” end and “you” begin? Maybe a deep cause of our suffering is that we trick ourselves into thinking we’re not just different places that are on the same pile of goo floating through life. Maybe you’re no more alien to me than my own arm is. And that when you are hurt, it is only natural for me to feel it because I am too. What if you and I are just two different words for the same thing?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/12/22 03:21 AM

Oh totally. It’s a dumb idea to simp for women if you’re wanting to be respected as a leaderly person by them because that’s not going to turn out well 9 times out of ten. But if you’re into it because it’s your thing, then it kinda makes sense in its own way. The biggest issue I have with it is that it gets cloaked in a moral superiority where you get to avoid accepting that you’re just as after your own desires as everyone else is. You’re not selfless compared to every other man because your t…

I think this neglects the fact that a lot of the men you’re talking about gain their own enjoyment from simping. It’s just bad if they can’t accept that they’re not special and are doing their thing for their own desires, just like everybody else is.

What if evolutionary biology is trending in a progressive and fewer-child future because doing so is actually biologically advantageous in the long run by avoiding overpopulation and needless death? The trajectory of societies being less patriarchal and more egalitarian over time cuts against this notion that RP is some hidden truth. For all the clout RP dudes give evolutionary biology, they make a lot of presumptions about the present and future that are simply impossible to make.

Yes. It just feels like the same dynamic that causes us to overlook humanity in other ppl to that greater degree that you mentioned is also a deep cause of our own suffering. Feeling like the world revolves around you sucks because it feels like one wrong move and you’re toast. And maybe there’s a hope within that where things can get better because the same things that hurt you also hurt me, even if in a different way. I want off that train too.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 10:26 PM

I guess what I’m really trying to say is that we’ve internalized a concept of women as “other” to such a degree because we’ve conditioned ourselves to believe that our lives are more important than they really are. It would help everyone if we could chill out and just be a face in the crowd more.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 10:01 PM

I think it’s less that we’re hiding it and more that we assume you are too innocent to have the same thoughts. You ever think about driving into oncoming traffic? Or stabbing someone? I’m not saying wanting to. But having the thought hit and feeling profoundly uncomfortable as a result? You probably do. Maybe even more than I do. That’s what I mean.

/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 08:38 PM

You’re missing the point completely. The way to value and respect people is to accept that they are flawed just like you are. Not to see them as these angelic beings that fell out of the sky.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 08:32 PM

Why? Porn isn’t a person. Porn can’t cuddle. Porn can’t do spontaneous romantic things. Porn doesn’t have the ability to be a flawed human companion.

/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 08:06 PM

Which is fine. But I think if men truly worshipped women, we’d at least have enough respect for them to listen when they say that they’re fallible and flawed people too. To love another person is to accept that they are so much more like you than it’s comfortable to acknowledge. If men truly worshipped women, we’d stop worshipping them.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 06:57 PM

It’s just a clickbaity title lol
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 06:48 PM

And I can imagine there are plenty of situations where women feel pressured to fake empathy, even though deep down they just want the permission to accept that they don’t actually feel sad for something that they “ought” to be sad about. I feel this too, only to a much lesser extent, because it’s more acceptable for me to be cold and uncaring. Similarly, it’s more acceptable for you to not want to do dirty or dangerous things, even though I hate bad smells/bugs/shit/etc. too lol

I think a better comparative trait is fear. It’s not like we don’t feel afraid of being drafted into war, assaulted, raped in prison, killed on the job, etc. We just have social roles that request that we tamp down on those feelings.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/22 06:28 PM

Dude, everyone uses traditionalism and biology to support what they want and rejects it if it doesn’t. Why does this sub constantly seem to call out women for engaging in behavior that we all do? Provided that there was an audience for it, I’d be the biggest whore imaginable. I’d set up an OF, twerk, wear the most suggestive clothes, get a tramp stamp, whatever else. Why? Because I’m psychologically damaged and wish I could feel desirable but also feel like being a man is inherently undesirable in an “I’d go after you” sense. Why do you ascribe so much god-like power to women to basically run men like they’re controlling zombies?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/22 01:24 AM
1

I think it is simply hard to know the line between heathy emotional vulnerability and a sort of TMI element of going too hard, too fast with it. I don’t think women are necessarily turned off by emotional vulnerability so much as the extent to which men might overdo it. A sprinkling of it is enough. Usually for both parties.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/22 01:23 AM
1

Absolutely not. It turns individual human relationships and connections into a weird video game. I can understand ppl wanting to look for broader trends as a way of understanding an abstract thing like romantic or sexual relationships. But sociology is just a terrible thing to apply to individuals. On the micro level, most things are too complicated and nuanced to paint with a broad brush.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/22 11:33 PM
1

I’m thinking this is more likely to be about the characteristics of men in that age group than anything else. I.e. say 30% of men are big and rotund at 20 but 60% are at 25, then you’re going to think more women are opting for those traits when in reality, it’s simply that a lot of the formerly babyfaced men rounded out by then.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/22 07:21 PM
5

I think there’s deeper reasons related to emotional care and support for why men need/want women but I don’t think it would change anything, other than giving men more clarity over why they feel so desperate. I think there’s a lot more emotional need that goes into it than sexual and if men really thought about it, they’d see that side of things more.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/22 11:25 PM
1

That’s the type of thing that’s always made me wonder why TRP guys don’t just fuck each other? Like, not even joking, if sex is so important to men and so much easier to get from other men than from women, isn’t that a missed opportunity? Either men have more standards around sex than they think or women aren’t that different from men, in that both have preferences in who to fuck and not.

I denounce and reject myself for it but I’m secretly really into that and want them to peg me, ngl
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 06:15 PM

Which is fine but that’s not the point. I mainly am just saying that, overall, men tolerate a lot shittier working conditions than they would otherwise because they feel like doing so will win them a woman. The extent to which that changes, imo, is the extent to which working conditions will improve.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 02:42 PM
3

I don’t think that’s as true anymore with technology where it is. If deployed in lieu of cultural reservations to it, we already live in a society that is technically automatable in most cases.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 02:33 PM
2

Better working conditions and a paradigm away from it mattering so much, so that men don’t put all their eggs in that basket, literally risk terrible harm, and then feel frustrated that they don’t get the girl or hopeless if they don’t succeed in the system. Breaking the cycle is crucial.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 02:32 PM

Yeah, it seems like the entire mission statement behind masculinity for generations now has been “do all of these things in your life that you would rather not do and we’ll give you the girl at the end”. I followed that script and the shame of it is that I have no idea what I would actually want to do with my life, except in relation to my ability to have a mate because of it. I think that’s where everything has to start. There’s no way to have a society that respects human autonomy and yet taci…

Yeah, “Make Men Happy Being Single” seems to be the holy grail of every gender/relationship issue of the 21st century. /r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 01:33 PM

Yeah, I think TRP has a ceiling of support with men because most of us don’t want to work in a coal mine and develop black lung disease at 25 to prove how manly we are. Which I hope is comforting to women because I don’t think we’re going to wake up living in the Handmaids Tale for the simple reason that most men would hate that shit, too. The only ironclad traditional social role for human beings is adaptability. There’s a reason why so many different ppl exist and it’s simply because life is h…

/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 01:14 PM

I believe so. I think there’s a stigma among men that essentially says needing help = losing. So we bottle up our issues because admitting that we’re struggling and not out ahead of everything makes us feel defeated.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 01:12 PM

I think women would do the human race a lot of good by simply pairing up with softer dudes when possible, in the grand scheme of things. Especially over a few generations. Instead of the guys that pride themselves on their ability to fist fight with grizzly bears.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 01:09 PM

All you really need to do to find a partner is match your standards to yourself. There’s plenty of unambitious women or women who don’t mind men not caring. You just have to be honest with yourself about what you bring to the table (or not), first and foremost.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/22 01:03 PM

The funny thing with this is that, if anything, I’ve noticed the opposite. Though tbh my biggest fantasy when I was 19 or 20 was basically getting with a 30 something woman and being treated like a princess.

Plenty of men are into tall women but it sounds more like they probably won’t want you in the way you want to be wanted. Often the men that are into tall women essentially fetishize it into a femdom thing or something similar.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/22 08:13 AM

Oh, I just tend to deny individual agency in most situations because I think our culture overdoes it. Domestic abuse is only one place I think that occurs. I think how we design societies and policies is far more influential than individuals trying to swim upstream.

Being raised by a single mom necessarily means your life was entirely in the hands of a woman’s ability or inability to provide for you. I don’t think modern masculinity affords much room to accept men being vulnerable at any point in their lives, nevermind vulnerable to women, so the social narrative around masculinity crashes headlong into personal experiences and the dissonance caused by this is settled by seeing everything wrong with how the mom raised you and telling yourself that you had t…

This is an extremely good point. I think there’s something in masculinity wherec as an adult, it becomes impossible to accept you ever having been vulnerable, nevermind being so now; so shitting backwards on single moms makes sense if you have that chip on your shoulder. That being said, sure, single moms aren’t perfect. But what’s the alternative in all these situations where the dad fucks off? Are they supposed to have kids if they don’t want to? If ppl are that against having kids these days, all I’m saying is, perhaps you need to step up and do more to incentivize it.

I think hunting, burger eating, red/white/blue American male stuff is generally fine by itself. But if drifting away from that were the cost of getting men to be nicer and more mellow, then so be it, too. Too many men basically think masculinity and anger are the same thing. And if decreasing masculinity generally lessens the anger issues, then I’m for it lol
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/22 04:23 PM

Welp, if you think the falling birth rate is a big problem, perhaps we should make life easier and more optimistic for ppl by addressing climate change, paid parental leave, healthcare, and a host of other problems? That way, perhaps more ppl will feel confident enough about the future to have children again.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/22 12:18 PM

I think there’s certainly truth to the idea that men are becoming less masculine because the social rules around behavior are changing. I simply think that it’s better and that women are not the only reason for it. I don’t want to live in a society where acting like an angry and violent hothead is rewarded anyhow. Be nice. Or at least don’t be mean.

I think the reason why a lot of ppl don’t want to bother engaging in discussions with regard to Red Pill stuff is because, honestly, it’s a very off-putting way to look at ppl. For all of the flack feminism and trans ppl get about terms and pronouns, there’s about two for each of those that make up 90% of the concepts. Nobody is compelling birthrates to be low. They are simply low for a reason. If women want to have fewer children, irs pretty barbaric to compel them not to. /r/PurplePillDebate24/11/22 10:23 PM

The notion that 2.1 births per woman is a magic number splitting society from collapse and success is a bit presumptuous, don’t you think? Historically, trying to compel women to have greater or lesser numbers of kids has been a terrible idea. China has had an awful go of it with the one child policy, America had an awful go of it when women were forced give birth to unwanted kids and we are gonna learn that lesson again I guess…. Point is, birth rates are what they are for a reason and a trend …

Nobody said anything about sterilization or whatever. Just that trying to reverse low birth rates is not a good idea since it seems to be a natural progression of economic advancement anyway. Not really, though I think there’s more now than there used to be. A lot of the problem is habituating yourself to accept painful or otherwise bad mental states as something to be overcome in order to be more manly. So the thing that gets missed is even figuring out when your mental health is in the shitter to begin with.

I think mass culture portrays an image of men needing to overcome something to be seen as worthy plus internal psychology pretty much forces human beings to be anxious no matter what. Having an easy life makes it such that you then may feel like you have to pick an enemy because instead of feeling anxious about having a roof over your head, you’re anxious about acne or a crush and admitting that those are your worries would suck because they aren’t seen as particularly justifiable worries, even …

I think there is something to the idea that a lot of women (at least in America) were simply appalled that so many ppl voted for a dude that bragged about how he could commit sexual assault to be the president. I do think that general period underscored for women just how politically and morally different many of the men around them were to what they had hoped and so there’s a greater level of mistrust and polarization around gender than there was before. I’m not saying it’s an extremely obvious…

Absolutely not. I cannot think of something more common but archaic, exploitative, and mind-numbingly boring as employment-by-necessity. Not much different. Quite simply, I think the truth of the matter is that women and men are typically striving to do the best they can to fit their honest inner lives into their surface outer roles. I think the lack of societal flexibility for men is a massively undercovered topic. We’ve generally come to accept more range in women’s social roles, while still pressuring men to be the same as they would’ve been 50 years ago.

I think the the two main factors are money and time. If you make a million dollars on 4 hours of work a week and want to do nothing but pay for shit, that’s understandable too. Obviously, that’s an extreme example. But I do think that if someone is paying for the vast majority of the expenses, if they want to be lazy even if they’d otherwise have the time to pitch in more, that’s frankly understandable too.

Here’s the thing that people have a way too difficult time understanding — It has not been that long since women were banned from owning property, working at all, etc. There are grandmothers and great grandmothers still alive now where that dynamic was present. In the grand scheme of things, the gender dynamics surrounding providership have changed lightning fast, though I do think there’s still a transitional period that is hard on people - i.e. men not being dateable due to lack of money and 2…

This is actually a simple phenomenon. While feminism has spent 60 years pushing for and working towards the acceptance of women succeeding in careers, there’s not been a parallel movement for men to be trophy wives and clean the house. Honestly, there’s certainly a point to be had here. But as someone who has both taken it in the ass and subsequently gotten married to a woman, I feel like I can speak with some authority to my experience that: A.) Men are more likely to be, all else equal, more disgusted by homosexual behavior in men. B.) A woman disapproving of the gay stuff is a good proxy to help you find the kind of person you don’t want to be with.

The problem with this is it’s an absolutist approach. This notion leads a massive amount of people to end up feeling responsible for everything, getting burned out and sick of it, and they end up taking responsibility for nothing in turn. The problem with these arguments is that they assume that there is only a “Yes or No” dynamic to every situation in life. Life is more art than science. There are many other countries with free markets that also have greater checks and balances in place to prevent the issues prevalent to the extremes of capitalism. Nature, of course, is not fair, b…

I mean, in large part, I don’t think either women nor men have control over anything, beyond reacting to the situations they find themselves in. That relief would allow people to focus on what actually is within their control. The societal insistence on personal responsibility for every situation one fac…

Exactly. We as men are taught to take everything personally when 80-90% of the time, there isn’t shit we can do about anything. If nothing else, realizing that frees your mind from all the energy people spend on what-if scenarios and “get rich quick” style schemes. It’s better to just let things go and chalk most of them up to happenstance.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/10/22 01:56 PM
3

Absolutely, but the concurrent problem for men is that we almost never feel attractive to women because any human being can only conceptualize something based on how they themselves operate. I think most men have no idea what it would actually be like to feel attracted to someone in that sort of way, then they assume that they’re being lied to and that women don’t actually like them but are just letting them down easily, and get sad as a result lol
/r/PurplePillDebate20/10/22 01:39 PM
5

I feel like most men just wish women found men as directly and crudely attractive as men do women but that tends not to be the case. Women are usually much less crude and visual in what they are attracted to, which in turn makes men feel unattractive because we assume that no attraction exists when we can only project based on how the dynamics of attractiveness play out for us.

I think the biggest issue is that there has not been a counter narrative for men’s mental and emotional health that says “you’re not in control of much of anything and that’s okay, you can never be.” Alan Watts > Jordan Peterson. I think the entire discussion around something like “golddigger” is completely ignorant of the fact that women haven’t even been allowed to work or own property for very long. A woman of college age today might well have a grandmother or even mother that was barred from basic things like going to college, learning to read, or having a job at all. I think the biggest issue for everyone these days is that we can only ever be our own individual selfves. I have no idea whether it would actually be harder or easier to be a man or a woman because I lack half the experience necessary to make a true determination of that. I have no clue what life is like as anybody other than me. Sometimes, that’s miserable. Someone’s it’s fun. Probably 8-9. The extent to which someone would think women (or men) are all bad is a lack of understanding that people are constantly just reacting to the situations life throws at them. Women are just trying to get through the day, too. Maybe it looks different on the surface than how you go about it, but fundamentally it’s the same. Life ain’t a walk in the park for anybody.

I think this isn’t really true in the first place and to the extent that it might seem so, would just be due to social pressures pushing women and men to behave different outwardly. I remember making fun of a more masculine girl as a teenager but only realized years later that I did so because I was into that. And felt embarrassed by it. A lot of men are hurt by other men, especially their own dads, growing up and then only feel emotionally safe around women. To my knowledge, a dynamic like that doesn’t exist as much around women due to chivalry and similar social norms. Men rely on women so much more to feel emotionally safe than the other way around, it’s just bundled into sex because we’re ashamed of feelings.

I think this is correct in a lot of ways but leaves out how much men often treat other men terribly; and the extent to which that leaves men emotionally reliant on women. Privately and to your wife/gf is often the only place a lot of men can be emotionally honest in life. It’s kinda shitty.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/22 03:19 AM

That’s true, but those are jobs that a lot of men that went into something more lucrative would have preferred doing instead. I don’t think that men are lazy. We just end up stuck living lives we hate because we think doing so will keep us from being alone.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/22 04:51 PM

I think a lot of men hate the status quo because it simply pressures them to put effort into things they don’t really want to do, not necessarily that men are inherently that much more lazy. Either way, it seems like a massive number of men feel stuck doing something all day that doesn’t make them happy just because we’re told that’s what you need to do to not be alone/abandoned.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 08:38 PM

Oh totally. I feel like a lot of the current dysfunction between men and women boils down to men feeling like: “You have no idea how much of my life I’ve molded around simply trying not to be alone; how much of my own wants I’ve set aside because I was basically told to do something lucrative to attract you — and it frustrates me that you can’t see it because I don’t actually want to be doing all of this.” People can argue the merits of feeling that way but it’s a feeling and you can’t really ch…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 07:01 PM

I feel like an underrated aspect of all this is how much men stake out jobs/careers/etc. based on perceived ability to attract a mate. Frankly, I get the general feeling that a lot of men have the entirety of their goals and ambitions attached to whether or not they can use that to attract a partner. Many would be perfectly happy to stop putting in effort otherwise.

In truth, I think a lot of men are codependent and terrified of women leaving them or not picking them because there’s very little social support for adult men beyond a partner; you’re raised to see yourself as being in a competition with everybody else- which makes it difficult to ask for help or form any other human relationships. The blame game is really just fear of abandonment all the way down.

I actually think that would be interesting, so long as I had a quit button lol I always like having a more concrete understanding of what other people go through, so long as there’s a safe way to do it. Otherwise, I’m just guessing.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/22 02:41 PM
1

Can you define it?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/22 01:27 PM
1

I didn’t say anything like that. I said it’s dangerous to overdo it. Not that it’s bad. A little pinch of it will do, is more my point. Not that it’s either good or bad.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/22 02:51 PM
1

It is bad to overdo it. Masculinity itself isn’t bad. You can die from drinking too much water too.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/22 02:24 AM
2

I’d say that’s still an issue of dosage though. The same social assertiveness that leads to catcalling, in a balanced and healthy dose, might be a dude that musters the courage to ask a girl out but then respects a “no” the first time and moves on. People are too us vs them and black/white about this. Toxic masculinity is simply masculinity overdosed. But if masculinity itself were inherently the issue, everyone would be falling over themselves to do pegging with submissive men and that’s not at…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/22 07:05 PM
4

I think the biggest issue with that is the consequences of overdoing masculinity vs. overdoing feminity. You overdo being shy and feminine and maybe someone doesn’t take you seriously as an adult. You overdo aggression and masculinity and somebody could die. So the need for men to recognize dosage in this whole thing, rather than all or nothing, is extremely important to everybody.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/22 07:02 PM
2

More that the damage you can do if you overdo masculinity is pretty bad, so just a pinch of it will do.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/22 02:30 PM
31

I think there’s certainly a lot of truth to this, but my personal experience with masculinity is simply that the only difference between medicine and poison is in the dose. Masculinity is like a powerful drug. It certainly has uses. You just have to be careful with how much you use at once. It can be incredibly damaging to overdose on it.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/22 04:42 PM
1

If anything, at least in my experience, the exact opposite has been true more often than not.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 06:44 PM
1

So what specifically are you talking about?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:44 PM

? That porn is a cause of much of anything
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:40 PM
1

I disagree with that
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:33 PM
1

I think porn is more of a symptom than a cause though. The way we sell sex to men leads them to think it’ll cure cancer if they haven’t had it yet.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:14 PM
1

Sure, some people have an easier time with it than others. But getting laid all the time is not the only thing in life either. I feel like a lot of guys funnel a bunch of other needs and wants into thinking it’s all about sex and TRP encourages that type of thinking. Which is pretty damaging to men!
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 02:33 PM
3

I think it’s the opposite - TRP expects these men to know everything. Which is just not a possible human thing. I have no fucking idea what life is like for anybody other than me. So having these ridiculous takes about how women are this or what men ought to be doing or whatever just strikes me as profoundly damaging. TRP asks men to live a lie - I’d rather live a life where I am free to admit to how much I don’t know and how flawed I am than listen to someone preach about how I’m basically a we…
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 01:27 PM
2

I have a lot of sympathy for them too, but TRP seems to expect them to be godlike and able to know everything, which is impossible for any human being to do. That’s why I think it’s bullshit. Of course I think it harms women, but it also is yet another way that men are expected to play God and not accept the limitations of being a human being.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 01:24 PM
1

No problem. But truthfully, this is far more selfishness on my part than anything else. TRP sucks for men too because it basically begs us to lie and pretend we know way more than we do. I have no idea what the fuck your life is like and that’s the most honest thing I can say. TRP is basically just yet another form of masculinity that asks us to lie and pretend we’re somehow heroes or gods and not just human beings that have one small perspective on life and not much control over it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 12:58 PM

I have, I’m simply implying that I feel the entire thing is misguided and based on assumptions about other people that are often not true at all. You can be jealous of an idea that doesn’t match reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:41 AM
7

Okay, so where is the jealousy and anger coming from? I’d be jealous too if someone else actually could shake their ass and make a million dollars in one GIF but that doesn’t actually happen. Women don’t actually get free rides and they don’t have it easy. Hell, that’s all I really know about women in the first place because I’m not one. Life is hard. Clinging to the notion that some other person or some attribute exists that you aren’t lucky enough to have to put life on autopilot is extraordin…

TRP is misogynist because it assumes it knows what the internal experiences and thoughts of all women are, all of the time, and mushes them together into one big stew of a caricature that pretty much never actually matches reality. It is misogynist because it makes a basic assumption- i.e. the idea that every woman could just drop everything, twerk on OnlyFans three times, and retire - that being a woman is ridiculously easier than reality. I have no fucking idea what being a woman would actuall…

I know and i have, but that’s just me It doesnt also change the fact that i simply feel unable to believe it. I mean, even the most tactless person can (I hope) understand the difference between “nice ass, wanna fuck?” and “that’s a cool jacket” lol I think there’s certainly a degree to which men relate to women in a way that would actually make men happier, but within the context of women’s experiences, ends up making the other person miserable. I don’t actually feel like this is true. There is nothing on earth more similar to a man than a woman and vice versa. To the extent that it is true, however, I feel like this is primarily a result of people assuming men and women are more different than they truly are. Which lends itself to a reality where women are bombarded by the things men are starved for. And so we just end up in a shitty proxy war where men and women are arguing from their own respective extremes, when what both want in re…

I think all that bullshit just needs to be replaced with sheer and radical honesty. Our entire culture just isn’t honest. If masculinity could simply consist of men being radically honest about who they are and what they feel, imagine how much healing could happen. It takes a ton of balls to be honest about things that aren’t convenient to other people too.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/22 03:51 AM
1

She’s not doing that though. She’s just saying what her fear is. Not making any sort of argument about it. Nor saying that men should die in a fire. Isn’t that kind of good? But what I’m getting at is that it’s presumptuous to assume she’s not sought help or therapy. Hell, maybe she came back from a therapy appointment where she talked about this exact thing. We don’t know. And that’s okay. I understand not wanting her to feel like men are all guilty of being predators but I also feel like, if she feels that way, accepting that she does is a key ingredient in healing that. The overall attitude of women engaging in anything sexual as being sluts, whores, hoes, etc. These are terms that are very rarely applied to men in any context beyond humor lol Even though plenty of us are much more guilty of the technical ingredients that make up your operative “slut”. I’m more just saying, don’t we all need a bit of a hoe phase? Helps keep life fun and I feel bad for the people that, for reasons beyond their control, aren’t able to have one.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/08/22 03:57 PM

In comparison to my wife, she has nothing on my hoe phase. I win! It was pretty fun too, I don’t really regret it. I just feel sad that women get held to a purity standard that I’m twice as guilty of breaking.

This is true of any form of trauma/anxiety and such an approach is incredibly damaging because it tries to control people’s individual personalities, ngl. People have no control over the feelings and thoughts that occur to them, particularly when it comes to fear. All that she can do is control how she navigates life in light of her own feelings and thoughts, not whether or not those occur to her. I feel like there is a missing part to talking about these things that might help and that’s if we really dug up our feelings and experiences, I think a lot of men would find that our seemingly relentless sexual pursuit of women is really often our own pursuit of safety in a fucked up way. In hindsight, so many of the “crushes” I had when I was young were really just a desire to get t…

Yeah, thinking of it that way actually helps make it easier to empathize honestly. Because it can be difficult. Like I really don’t know what it is like to be you and it always feels bad because I feel stupid saying that but it is true. Like I’m never going to experience the same feelings you do, at least if I’m in the same situations otherwise. It’s not that I can’t empathize with those feelings necessarily, it’s more that I feel them in different situations.

I don’t feel like it’s possible for me as a man to really understand the predator/harasser dynamic that women feel because there’s a level of sexual threat that women feel about it that I do not. Like if some random person grabbed my ass, I’d probably enjoy it. At least a little lol. That said, in a narrow sense, I can empathize if I imagine what life in prison would be like.

Yes, sex drive is powerful, but I really feel like a lot of the guys that think they’re in it for sex, if they really thought about it and felt deeply about it, would probably sooner trade sex for emotional intimacy than the other way around. The attitude itself is accurate in that so many men are moti…

Frankly, I’m not sure what dating is actually like for women, so it may hold some validity. But, in the bigger picture, if you find yourself having to play a part to attract a partner, you’re never actually going to find someone that loves you for you. They might love your image or their idea of you. But unless you’re at least honest at the foundation - even if you spin it a bit to be more attractive or whatever - you’re just going to attract people that aren’t right for you, if you attract anyb…

I think there’s definitely truth to this. In my relationship though, it’s more that my wife simply feels way more pressure about things - career, status, success, etc. - compared to myself. I’d be perfectly happy to live a frugal life but I’m not against nice things either. I just don’t really care what that many people think of me, so long as I’m content. I don’t disagree with any of that and yet it also changes nothing. There are people - let’s be real, particularly men - that are so profoundly lonely that the fear of being abandoned or the desire for companionship is the primary motivator in their life. Not even sexual desire here, just sheer loneliness. Is it healthy? No but denying it is even worse and just living a lie. But for the fact that I fear being abandoned, frankly, I’d be a hermit somewhere slumming it because I don’t really have mo…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/22 09:15 PM

No, that’s my point exactly. Perhaps worded poorly - if you are lonely because you don’t have a romantic partner, having one will help that. And if wanting a romantic partner is your primary motivation for getting out of bed in the morning, then so be it. There’s too many people that try to dance around that. Instead of just accepting that such an extrinsic motivation is a perfectly normal thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/22 08:09 PM

I really don’t think that women are exclusive in this. Men in love will overlook things or even find things endearing that they wouldn’t otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/22 04:29 PM
3

Yeah, I’ve never liked the notions of “just work on yourself”, “you shouldn’t need anyone else”, etc. If you’re depressed because you’re lonely and want a romantic partner, getting a romantic partner will help that. People don’t like to talk about it because the implications are difficult to parse through - i.e. to what extent, if at all, does someone have a right not to be alone? But telling people who are lonely to change the fact that they’re lonely is a completely useless thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/08/22 04:27 PM

I really think this depends on the person. Maybe a Pareto Principle thing. I.e. 80% of women want a “real man” and 80% of men want a “trad wife”. Which hijacks the conversation from the 20% that aren’t like that.

As far as damage goes - Who is more likely to die if the other attacks them? Men or women? On average, I’d say women. That’s really it. As far as the ways in which men are socialized to think that they have to be providers, stoic, be in control of everything at all times, that fucking sucks and shouldn’t be the case. My biggest problem with all of these debates is that it leaves out the elephant in the room; 95% of the time, men have more physical strength/ testosterone to beat somebody up. You might have a woman that’s more brutal and nothing ever happens beyond a few bruises than the equivalent man that kills someone. As a major oversimplification, men feel the same about this as women feel about men’s anger. (I don’t at all think these are the same, but the general feelings are close.) When you get told all your life that you’re a pussy/wimp/pathetic for crying, you’re just bracing yourself for that exact response. And so, just like women might be on heightened alert to physical vulnerability with men, men may be on heightened alert to emotional vulnerability the other way. I may only be 10% angry, but my SO…

This seems like a classic example of the Pareto principle. The 20% of women who want to be the dominant partner and the 20% of guys who want to be the submissive partner just need a better way to find each other and then inevitably engage in copious amounts of pegging and heartfelt conversations around gender roles. The 80% of the population that doesn’t fit this dynamic just clogs up your airwaves so you can’t see that there’s probably about as many women who want you as there are men like you.…

Absolutely. And it’s the closest thing I can think of that might feel like sexual objectification because I can’t just lie and say that’s something I’ve ever experienced. Not in that way at least. But I know the general feeling of having your basic humanity contigent on something that’s basically surface level and outside your control. I feel like if I don’t bring money to the table, I can’t even justify taking up the oxygen that I do just waking up in the morning. Nobody deserves to feel like t…

That’s an exaggeration, but the overall point holds, imo

Are we all so sure that we’re really evaluating people on the same scale though? I feel like half the problem with all of this is the simple fact that a “9/10” to you might be a “1/10” to me and vice versa. It’s entirely subjective and differs by person. We just have a subset of people screaming about it as if this is holy knowledge.

For me as a man, I’m less exhausted by the specifics of money in relationships and more just the general feeling that my entire self worth is wrapped around money. It’s seriously hard to feel like, if I were to not be bringing money in, I would even be worth taking up the small amount of space in the world that I do. The fears and anxieties around it can be intense.

I think this is correct but incomplete. People will simply be more honest due to less religious based shaming about what’s historically been the norm. and the gender balance of this dynamic will likely shift, at least a bit, since women have more money relative to men than in the past.

That’s certainly true but I think the ratio is skewed though. There’d be no demand for something like Bumble if women and men were equally graceful in online dating communication lol

I think it’s less that many men care logically whether it’s easy or worth it, so much as the simple fact that it’s an aspiration. Capitalism in modern America sucks so hardcore that I think a lot of men would breathe easier with the option to show strangers their assholes for simple and predictable money. Because it sucks to devote so much of who you are as a person into the mythical concept of alpha male provider, only to just have that gambled and ripped away from you because some rich asshole…

No, but how do you know that all these women are just fucking everybody when you’re not looking? At some point, everyone is relying on self reported data and I can attest to the fact that I have a higher body count than my wife. So if we’re going by a consistent definition, I would be the bigger slut in the equation here, right? I mean, the entire thing is perception, no matter what. You’re trusting, one way or the other, what you feel about the situation.

I think the fucked up reality is that I actually empathize with and understand the OnlyFans thing a lot more than anything else. Like when you actually get into it, it’s just not the practical reality that you can post a ten second video of yourself twerking and retire on a private island lol Likewise, I’m told (implicitly and explicitly) that if I just work hard enough, I too could be anything I want to be! But there’s a ton of people that “act like whores” and have barely any sexual history and plenty of people that act prim and proper who are the kinkiest and “easiest”. Plenty of women that dress “provocatively” but are extremely modest about sex and plenty of men that act all proper and are super kinky. In fact, I’d almost venture to say that this is more often the rule than the exception. The shitty thing is the perception. If people are going to be judged for something like a high body count, …
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/22 02:05 PM

Because perception is 9/10 of reality. There’s plenty of women that are judged for being sluts and whores based merely on how they dress or something, when the reality is that they don’t actually have that much sexual history. In a similar light, there’s so many seemingly levelheaded and classy men that will be DTF after one date, even in extremely kinky and personal ways. I think it’s worth thinking about that. For everybody.

What data do you have to support the notion that a) more sexless men than ever and b) women are more promiscuous than ever? A is probably true or at least in the ballpark, but B? The long term declining birth rate, declining number of sex partners, declining number of relationships, declining number of abortions, declining number of basically anything dealing with sex…. Seems to really undercut the idea that women are hopping around and fucking everything.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/22 01:57 PM

I entirely understand that, I just think it’s noteworthy that a lot of men are jealous of the idea, even though the idea is very inaccurate in reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/22 01:53 PM

Oh totally. I think this is like assuming all guys can be Jeff Bezos and have that work out perfectly. It sounds wonderful in the theories people have in their heads, but in practice, there’s way more risk, uncertainty, effort, etc. that goes into it.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/22 01:51 PM

I totally understand why someone would do it - a dollar from sending some stranger your undies on eBay works just as good as a dollar you make at a coal mine lol That being said, I don’t truly believe the quit your job and do OnlyFans thing is legitimately as easy as is portrayed. At all. In the same way that I don’t think attaining a billion dollars is achievable. I’m sure someone did it once, but for all intents and purposes, it’s impossible.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/22 06:04 AM

But the overall point is that a lot of men seem quite comfortable with the idea. Not that a lot of men are, but that a lot of men might want to be if such a thing were presented as a viable option. Perhaps more men than women seem comfortable with the idea in a complete vacuum.

The thing is, as someone that would love to do the SAHD thing, I really and genuinely only feel enough motivation to get out of bed in the morning to go to work because I feel like my wife would be disappointed if I didn’t. Not to mention the other side of that - money. I totally empathize with the desire to just not work and get a bunch of money for pics or something. I do realize that, in practice, that’s not at all how it goes for women. But the mere fact that so many of us think “wow, I wish I could just shake my ass and get a million dollars for it” is enlightening by itself and something worth pondering for everybody lol

It feels like there’s an extremely revealing and noteworthy dynamic that men seem way more comfortable with the idea. Are we the real “whores” and “sluts” and stuff while we just project all of that on to you? Because I totally understand the OnlyFans thing lol

Yes, I hate working, too. If I had an in demand ass and could make a million dollars selling pics of it to strangers or shipping my undies to some rando on Ebay? Absolutely! I totally understand why people do it - a dollar doesn’t care how it’s made. That said, the idea that every woman can just opt to post pics of her ass and make a million bucks is extremely inaccurate from reality. Same energy as “if you work hard, you too could be Jeff Bezos”.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/22 05:51 PM

I think it more just freed everyone up to live lives they’ve always wanted in the first place. And men are finally catching on to this - more SAHD, female breadwinners, etc. It’s always hard going through any large social change due to a lack of a frame of reference. But that does not make it bad.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/22 04:51 PM

Why would women be screwed by this? The extent to which women can earn enough to be independent by themselves is directly proportional to the extent to which they even “need BB” in the first place. If men decide to give up on chasing the almighty dollar in a significant way, guess who is going to be promoted and making a lot more money? It’s not the men. Perhaps such a thing would be better for everyone.

All of it. It breaks my heart that so much hate is directed towards women because we’re so codependent on them and never figured ourselves out. I wish I knew how to fix it. But no amount of alpha male Red Pill pseudoscience on the one hand or guilt ridden pedestal placing on the other will ever fix simply feeling scared and alone but not knowing how to express it. At least not without feeling perfectly trapped between being isolated for acting like a pussy or punished for causing harm.

In what ways are we even different? I might be able to pick up a larger rock than you? Yes and no. It just feels like we try to squeeze every ounce of human vulnerability out of men and then the pressure just builds inside of them and that leads to all sorts of bad things - unless men can learn to ride that wave, which is just harder than it really needs to be. Plus we just end up desperate for women because we’re expected to kill everything in us that makes us human, then inevitably cannot, and ultimately dump it all on you because there’s no other outlets. This 100%. I feel like the only thing I’d add from the other side of the equation is that there’s an implicit expectation that everything is in our control at all times. Which is just logically silly because so many things in life just happen to us, no matter how powerful we could ever be. And so when you hear messages like “kill all men”, it feels like you’re internalizing responsibility for things that are just not within your control. Thank you. That dynamic wrecked me when I was younger. What makes it all the worse is that it often feels like men are expected to be in control of everything at all times, which makes it hard to even forgive yourself if a social interaction goes awry. You end up obsessively focused on everything you did wrong (as if you could somehow change the past?), when in reality we’re just human and anybody that ever extended me fotgiveness and patience, I’m a bajillion percent grateful for.

We’ve never taught straight men the simplest fact about relating to women - There’s nothing you can do to prevent feeling attraction to women, but you do have control over what you do with it. Men’s attractions are chaotic and we’re just going to feel them - attraction to friends, attraction to other women when in a relationship or marriage, etc. But where men actually need to focus is on what you do with it? We end up in this shitty dynamic where straight men have this awful dependent obsession…

There are plenty of biological influences over all sorts of human behavior. I’m mad when I’m hungry. But I know well enough not to act on that anger by killing someone because killing is clearly bad. Especially in that context. The mere fact that people have biological influences over their feelings does not lead to a predetermined result in behavior. Different social environments promote different behaviors. A lot of the things we collectively value in men and then turn around and say “wait, bu…

Because relationships are ruled far more by emotion than anybody really wants to admit. You just feel it out.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/22 06:36 AM

Honestly, the biggest issue behind this is that men are habituated way more from the start to view everything through a lens of win or lose. So if I see myself as in a competition with you over whatever, you’re not going to be my friend. Unless that were to change enough, it’ll just be that way, sadly.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/22 06:33 AM

Why are you implying that men do? Sex and human relationships have everything to do with a profound lack of logic. And it’s great!
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/22 06:26 AM

No, I just want women to be however they actually are and for men to be that way too. And to just have the space for that. But if you think that men are hardwired to cheat and fantasize about fucking your friends all the time, you’re really hanging out with shitty men.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/22 06:23 AM

Yes, I would care less. I shouldn’t, but I would. There’s probably a bunch of personal and cultural reasons why.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/22 12:18 AM

Many do, but even if we assume that 80% of the time, men and women will freely sort into their traditional roles, it’s that 20% of the time where people don’t fit the mold that causes way more misery than it really needs to.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 03:36 PM
3

That’s probably true, say, 80% of the time. I’m not going to pretend that there’s no rhyme and reason behind why traditional roles developed the way they did over time. But the 20% of the time where that doesn’t hold is the source of a massive amount of misery for everyone.

A lot of women can’t get pregnant lol
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 03:25 PM

I’m not arguing that happiness without working for it should be a goal because you are correct about that. Simply that the types of work and efforts each person is best suited for are different and that thinking that having only one acceptable path for half the population won’t lead to massive misery is just silly. If the traditional role thing is something you enjoy, that’s fine! Just don’t force everyone else to do life exactly like that because they may not want to.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 01:51 PM

Lol men can become fathers. Are adoptive parents not parents? Are there no other social roles that require similar skills to motherhood? The idea that there’s no alternative is just not the case. Fight for your right to be valued for putting on an apron and doing some dishes and shit!
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 01:48 PM

Yes, but how much of that is valued and how much of the value in it is fought for?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 01:43 PM

I think the feeling itself is common but in reality, the only thing guys ought to feel jealous of women for is having healthy emotional outlets and a wider net of human relationships. I would not want to have to cope with everything else that goes into living as a woman. But the emotional outlet thing does suck.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 06:40 AM
1

I think there’s truth to this but from the opposite angle - men feel more emotionally needy for relationships with women than vice versa so women usually feel more content with being single. I’d simply feel too lonely to give up if I were in your shoes.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 06:37 AM
1

If I were in that spot, yes but I would need it to be okay with her for me to not take a vow of celibacy and singleness for the rest of my life upon her death. Which, would either be an honest and heartfelt enough conversation to warrant marriage or be a messy enough one to never talk again lol
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 06:32 AM
2

Why are you assuming that the default state of any partner is to want to cheat on you the second you aren’t 1000% “perfect”? If you feel like you’re inadequate to a potential partner because of hair color, personality, weight, or lack of a dick, that really says a lot more about yourself. And, well, I’m sorry.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 06:28 AM
48

Of course. Most of men’s discontent just boils down to the fact that we’ve got seemingly one acceptable life path - career/provider. And a massive amount of us are miserable with putting that on a pedestal in precisely the same way that a massive amount of women are miserable with putting motherhood on a pedestal. Broaden what society values in men to include things like housework, cleaning, cooking, and whatever else - problem solved.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/22 06:13 AM

And what if those are the women that those men want? Does everybody have to fit a particular mold?
