I think it is fairly obvious what is interest and what is hobby. Interest: passively consuming. From your example: WATCH UFC, LISTEN to your favorite band, READ book by someone Hobby: something you create, usually take skills. PRACTICE jujitsu, PLAY an instrument (take skills), looking up recipes for new food (Creativity)

I will take an analogy of guitar. If you know anything about this instrument, there are different thickness in the strings. When you apply a strum to all the strings, they all sound difference because that same force make the thicker heavier string to vibrate slower (low frequency, lower pitch) and thinner lighter string to vibrate faster (high frequency, higher pitch).
