I totally agree with this analysis. Most of the garbage coming out of his mouth about her is discredited in my mind and he's the primary abuser. I think most of it is lies and probably anything that did happen is reactive abuse to his actions. He knows exactly what the fuck he's doing.

Same. I stopped cooking in my marriage, then just left the marriage. It wasn't worth any of the extra stress with zero benefits.

I see you witnessed my marriage crumble. Why are LVM so predictable? At least if they gave a shit to try harder in the home and lay pipe well, their wives would be more likely to stay. 🙄

Your first paragraph is such a good point. I am in love with life and have many creative outlets while also working to improve myself educationally, mentally, professionally, etc. "Simple" men aren't my match because I love complexity and don't want to be bored to death, assuming he's not the "simple" type who chooses manipulative tactics to keep you in line.

I agree with everyhing that you wrote except the last sentence. Yes she would have been in danger of being murdered but not because he lost control. Abusers escalate because they can and feel like they have power. If they "lost control" then their would hurt their own property or people that they care about as well as the victim, but they don't. It's calculated and hidden under the guise or losing control.

This comment is so true, but not only for pushing boundaries. Does he respect you enough to care when you mention discomfort with intimacy, remember it, and act on it both immediately and in the future? The nail in the coffin for one of my previous relationships was when he consistently didn't care enough to not hit a bad angle for me despite me telling him for years that it hurt. His response? "I knew you were going to be in pain when he had sex anyway since it had been awhile and I forgot." Li…

Holy cow your comment gave me flashbacks to a present from an ex who bought a game that he thought I would like so we could play together. I haven't played games in at least ten years.

I hate how correct your comment is. I went to college in a rural part of the Southeastern US, and I honestly loathed the people for this reason. Rural farmland with an undereducated population that is as misogynistic, racist and homophobic as the day is long and abuses dogs. I personally know someone whose outdoor-only puppy was so poorly cared for that when its leg was broken, they didn't take it to the vet for months, and by the time they finally took it to get looked at a year later, they end…

It's actually much more sinister than that. Abusers learn to use therapeutic language against their partners and gaslight them to hell and back. It is dangerous to attend couples counseling with an individual who is actively manipulating you. I work in behavioral health and it's a higher level of care for a reason, but unfortunately many clinicians don't refer out, thinking that they can help you with communication issues and not realizing that they are out of their depth, possibly creating a mo…

One friend insisted that there's no way you end up with a terminal illness without knowing something is wrong with your body along the way. This prick said it to a table of women, one of whom he didn't know was recently diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer that seemingly came out of nowhere and she had no idea until her body began shutting down. He staunchly insisted he was right and she tore him a new asshole. Needless to say I am no longer friends with him and I cherish every second with my…

Just last week I was talking with a man who, in the middle of his monologue about how I'm an amazing and incredibly attractive woman, he sneaks in that the first time he saw me, he noticed my ears and called them large to my friend. I was so shocked at his comment coming out of nowhere, but it's not the first time I've heard this or noticed my own ears, so I'm not insecure about them anymore. I just dumb foxed the whole conversation and let him dig his own grave verbally. Ladies, any man that sn…

I've been buying myself flowers for a year and a half now and I replace them every 2-3 weeks when they fully wilt and just change the water frequently. It's relatively cheap if you buy from the grocery store and arrange your own bouquet. It's funny you say that it's like training a dog, because my dog is a delight now that she's trained but when I was learning how to train her, I found myself making similar corrections toward my NVM ex. Of course he hated being treated like a dog, but when you throw a temper tantrum like an entitled puppy..... 🤷

I work in mental health and am studying to be a therapist myself. Men seem to be dropping like flies when they can't manipulate me. I don't get many sexualized comments about my career (but many about my looks) but men show their lack of empathy when they try to get me to explain why women stay with their abusers, and yes I've gotten this question several times. It's all a power game and they act like I don't know they're feigning ignorance. Miss me with that sociopathic BS.

This absolutely infuriated me. Someone tries to appear HV for a year, but immediately stopped the second we got married? I put up with that nonsense, communicated until my face turned blue, and eventually became so fucking disgusted with him that I got the ick and he became surprised that I first stopped sleeping with him, then asked for a divorce. Saying vows doesn't mean you never have to lift a finger again.

"I don't bother with guys who don't worship me." This is so true. Me too. If he's not chomping at the bit to pleasure me left, right, and center, then he's going to be selfish and terrible in bed. If we're being intimate, I'm getting off, probably multiple times, and only having sex that I enjoy. All of my partners have been ecstatic, so I know intimacy with me is a gift. Anyone who has a problem with that doesn't get to touch me.

Same here. Saying my curvy body looks good is no longer a compliment because I know. I work really hard to eat right, run, and lift weights. 95% of the "compliments" I get make me feel like prey, especially if most don't even bother to get to know me beyond my curves.

Journaling also establishes a written record of abuse. One of the final straws that made me end my relationship was finding a written note to process my feelings and seeing a two-year pattern of him treating me terribly and him not doing anything to fix it. It snapped me back to reality that I was wasting my time and I immediately got out.

Thank god I was never pick-me enough to film and post my NVM ex ignoring me naked while he played games, but this was one of many big issues that killed my last relationship. Never again, ladies. I am worth so much more. It isn't me (or you), it's them.

This is true for me too. I ugly ducklinged hard, so I watch men like a hawk when they're around people they view as beneath them, like servers, or women they don't want to have sex with. Nothing is more unattractive than a man performing toxic masculinity. I refuse to entertain that.

The only real cure for a "jealousy problem" when your partner doesn't respect you and refuses to allow you to have healthy boundaries is to walk the fuck away. It doesn't really seem that different from passive self-harm, such as starving yourself, not brushing your teeth or showering, etc. You can claim less agency in your life if you're not actively doing something.

Last week, some man tried to tell me that my body type was his preference, I told him "your preferences mean nothing to me." I wasn't interested in him and he was twice my age. Gross. I don't know why he thought I'd care what he likes. I'm not taking the bait.

When I went no contact with my NEX, I literally blocked all of his phone numbers I knew, blocked him on all social media, and reached out to every person within my close circle and said that person was dead to me and to not give any information about me because he was incredibly abusive. I feel this in my soul. Like you, I'm lucky enough to be able to orgasm easily from PIV, but it makes a man's lack of effort or consideration especially poignant in bed. A terrible sex life was part of the reason I left my last relationship. He got me off maybe ten times in 12 months, which was unacceptable because I can get off 10 times in one session, easily. My old boss used to say "you look tired" to me with a smirk on his face. The first time, I told him that I wasn't wearing makeup and that I sobbed that morning (30 minutes prior). He uncomfortably scurried away. Literally any other time after that (4 more before I quit), I responded with "that's rude. Try again" and glared without breaking eye contact. When they try to gaslight you about their intentions, do NOT give an inch. They know what they are doing. Do not budge into their abuse.

Your last paragraph accurately described my last relationship. I ended it almost a year ago but it still makes my blood boil. Before I left him, I told him that he should consider being better instead of trying to knock me down to his level because I grew to resent his insecure ass instead. It was disgusting. Never again will I allow an insecure man into my life.

I want to second this. He has no business inviting you over or you going to his place on the second date. You should read the handbook again. No self respecting woman should think a man is high value after one date. This is why you vet constantly. You are lucky you got away safe with two rape apologists, possibly rapists. You don't know these men and you could have easily been a victim. No high value man would want to put you in a dangerous situation.

I'm only 5'6" but have never dated anyone close to my height (usually at least 6' but no one shorter asks me out). I've had a few short men compliment my height when courting me and I asked about wearing heels. One in particular said he loved my legs and would happily have an Amazonian woman (in heels) taller than him on his arm because I look phenomenal and am confident. We didn't work out for other reasons, but this is a mood for life. Short men, take note. That's what male security looks like…

I lost my sexual soul mate too. He passed away after we broke up, but I know we never stopped loving each other and possibly wanted to rekindle after maturing and therapy. It ate into me for years after he passed and sometimes still gets to me, but I try to appreciate what I had I the first place that most people never experience in their life. Stay strong.

My ex used to joke "what's yours is mine and what's mine is also mine." Slowly, our finances flipped so I was paying for 80% for us and I couldn't catch up so I could save anymore. I was furious when I caught this after redoing the budget and I immediately stopped spending my own money except for my pets.

Your response alone gives me the impression that you are pro-choice, because you can separate your choice (never having an abortion) from other women's ability to choose as well. Your respect for bodily autonomy aligns with the core value in pro-choice, whether you define your beliefs as such or not, just my two cents. My best friend, as well as other close women in my life, is pro-choice but would never ever get an abortion.

I've had insecure exes ask me if they're the biggest I've been with and I always tell them no without lying. I'm not intentionally seeking out tall men but I've never dated under 6' so getting insecure about your dick and trying to measure is usually a losing battle. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. It's same mentality for me never faking an orgasm. I refuse to feed a man's ego if he doesn't measure up.

I legitimately had a fight with one ex who never listened despite me stating what I needed. To prove a point and entertain myself, I began saying "that wasn't a rhetorical question" after he ignored a question. This nonsense went on almost daily for a month until I pointed it out. He responded "I've never heard you say that before." ......yeah I know. That was the point. Remember ladies, if he wanted to listen to you, he would. Believe who he shows you he is.

What drives me crazy about Reddit's overwhelming response to the love languages is how obvious it is that people only ever take the quiz and use it as an excuse for lazy complacency. The book goes into detail about each love language, with various ways to express within each language, and even discusses how mature, selfless partners in relationships should learn their partner's primary language(s). This goes for both partners but unfortunately it's mainly women who put in this effort.

I absolutely agree about #6 as well! At the end of the day, we deserve to have standards being met. If a man is unable to meet those standards despite wanting to, then it may just mean he's not ready for the relationship anyway. It's better for both of you to not entertain the idea and waste each other's time.

If the zygote has implanted, then Plan B is too late unfortunately. I've been strict with my birth control my entire sex life, but that potentially small window is why I now keep a backup Plan B at my house (since it's OTC in the US). There's significantly less shame in purchasing it at 1pm while grocery shopping than 1am after a condom mishap or forgetting about antibiotics while on the pill.

God your last sentence has me shook and is exactly what made me realize my ex didn't respect me or my growth over the years.

I unfortunately have stories like this, along with most women, but something you said stuck out to me and I feel like I need to address it. Just because you consented at the start, does not mean you cannot withdraw consent at any later point during the act. You retain bodily autonomy throughout sex, always. Please try to keep this in mind and hopefully we'll never have to use this information again.

This is painfully familiar to my situation right now. No more controlling behavior to fit me back into the perfect wife mold.

Sorry to be a little late commenting. I read every comment to see if anyone addressed my main concern, but since I didn't see it anywhere as directly as you may need to hear, I will be honest with you, but this honesty comes from a place wanting the best for you and any woman in your future. First, I agree what most of us are saying about size not mattering so long as you take the time to be a good lover to them. Ask them what they like, be empathetic, read their body language, get good with you…

I didn't realize I already commented here. Thanks for beating me to posting this exact same scenario. Bonus points if his excuse was not knowing how to fold your laundry or where exactly to put yours away, as if you didn't put in the effort to learn for him.

Tread lightly with engineers. I dated one who was nerdy but also enjoyed quietly judging others less intelligent than him. He also had the emotional intelligence of a robot. Never again.

Big clit energy. I swear by it, but some people are uncomfortable comparing what is essentially the same tissue on different genders. It's also irrelevant of clit size, but the energy and confidence.

God it's like you watched the last couple years of my life and twisted the knife with your comment. I need to hear it though, so thank you. I'm slowly being won over by #KickHimOut2020

I have found the godlike Don Juan sex expert FWB once and holy cow was it fun. He was an incredibly giving person in bed and laid pipe like he patented it after satisfying me other ways. If you get lucky enough for the situation to line up perfectly (clear boundaries, sexual chemistry, etc), then it's incredibly fun. It ended due to reasons not related to him, but I don't regret it.

23/27. Fucking hell. #26 was so painfully accurate it hurts. I need to stop giving the benefit of the doubt and trust actions.
