It's a bastardization of a biblical concept. The Bible outlines different kinds of love and refers to unconditional love, but not as between two people in a relationship. The unconditional love referred to is a one directional kind of love from God towards his creation and the idea is that humans are incapable of it.

You apparently have no idea how human relationships work. There should be a balance in the amount of effort to maintain the relationship between both parties. If someone is providing you shelter or anything else, you do owe them something.. at least the appearance of trying to put in as much effort as they are. And if you're an adult who lives with their parents and isn't even trying to maintain this balance, then you need to be kicked the fuck out.
