I think actually a lot of feminists do get that. This is something we talk a lot about in the group I work with. That rigid gender roles and cultural ideas of masculinity and femininity hurt both men and women, in different ways. I get a very different impression of feminism looking around this subreddit than what I have experienced working with feminists fighting for social justice in my community.

Oh I'm not arguing statistics or numbers at all. I really know nothing about that and frankly, statistics are so easily manipulated. I'm just interested in the definitions proposed, and if most here agree with the feminist definition. I became interested after talking to a male victim of intimate partner violence in my community. Ok you actually don't know me. I do not go around saying all men are rapists. Neither do the feminists I associate with. I live in a small isolated community fraught with poverty, violence, drug abuse... I have seen both men and women do cruel things to each other.
