Yeah, my reply mainly speaks of friendships you've cultivated for some time vs with "friends" you've known for a hot minute. I agree that longer standing friendships tend to withdraw more than they debit, but at that point you should just leave it on the other person to replenish the account if they've been the ones taking is all I meant. Which means yeah, one shouldn't overextend themselves for anyone but at the same time disengage and hope for the best. Unfortunately, there isn't a set bluepri…

Thank you for this, I definitely struggle with this and feel seen 🤗 It's hard because on the one hand this does get annoying especially when it becomes a cycle instead of an isolated case; on the other, despite the low-effort behaviour, all of our female friends (pick-me or not) were socialized under the patriarchy which teaches you to prioritize relationships with men (no matter how unfeasible) over building a support network with other women. Most of us were not always as self-aware as we are …

This is so messed up, idk what the point of laws are anymore since they protect perpetrators more than they do victims. I feel for you and others in your position and it's horrible that you have to go through it twice: once at the hands of your abuser and another at the hands of the legal system that enables dv and intimate partner abuse under "plausible deniability". The legal system is just racketeering at this point, ACAB

I feel like any guy who has a modicum of self-awareness would take it upon himself to handle it and supplement extra meals as needed vs. putting the burden on his partner / actively TAKING FROM HIS CHILDREN. This "problem" is beyond a social faux pas, it's plain self-centered and stingy. In a family, it goes without saying that you always save enough for others and you don't take everything for yourself, so not only is he inconsiderate but the way he's handling this situation is some petulant fu…

For the mods of the FDS discord, do you have an idea on what the turn around time for membership / approval will be like for the next month or so ? I joined the discord and went through screening a couple of months back but there is probably a fair amount of interest that exceeds mod verification availability. TIA!

I finally, finally realized, that the money was his way of buying a get-out-of-jail-free card to sabotage, humiliate, demean, undermine and abuse me. I think the take-away with guys providing financially is they should be doing so with only generous intentions, like wanting to take care of you or make you feel happy and valued, there should never be any strings attached to what they materially do for you. The value of a man's money becomes worthless when it crosses into the territory of buying y…

Ya I appreciate that you challenge these views! Often it comes from members who are older (so in their late 30s and beyond). These types of comments bug me because the reasoning is facile and is less relevant now than it was 20 years ago. The playing field has completely changed in the last 8 years, so just because HV partners settled earlier back then doesn't mean it rings true now given the defacto usage of dating apps and situationships being the norm

I'm looking for a FEMALE so I can WASTE her time in a SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP but WON'T MARRY HER EVER. She has to UPROOT her entire life FOR ME, a FUTURE POLICE OFFICER in KANSAS CITY who GAMES and watches ANIME no EXCEPTIONS. In return she gets NOTHING but ABUSE because I CLEARLY HAVE ISSUES I need to OFFLOAD to my HOT FOREVER GIRLFRIEND

Totally!!! In most cases, the most straightforward explanation is the best one. I think we as humans are unhappy with the more simplistic approach as it lends itself to more ambiguity which is why we overthink and compensate with tangibles cause at least you have answers even if they're not exactly right. But yeah, I'd rather be satisfied in the swamp of ambiguity than be unhappy with answers to problems that aren't meant to be solved

I agree! It's a game of chances and timing. I often see the argument of "well HV partners are more likely to be settled young so slim pickings" and it even makes its way into FDS comments which is concerning, cause which is it? 20 year olds don't know what they want and shouldn't focus on dating at the expense of developing themselves OR your chances get lower with meeting HV mates with age so it's too late for you after a certain point Theoretically, by being in your 20s you have a larger pool …

Thank you for sharing. I'm hesitant to comment on issues that I know affect women in different POC/BIPOC communities out of not wanting to detract but I appreciate you going into this. The patriarchy is specific in its mistreatment towards women depending on which group you belong to but it's important to know what our black sisters are going through at the hands of men, and more specifically black men so we can wholly support each other. Again thank you

Wow!!! This was a lot. Hate to break it, but needing closure from losers who ghost you still qualifies as needing male validation. The opposite of love isn't hatred, it's indifference. Also I'd like to unpack this excerpt: I often hear a kind of nostalgia for the “old ways” of dating. People lament the days of men knocking on the doors for dates, and bringing flowers, and calling on the phone. But we would never, ever want to go back to those days. Those small kindnesses were given in exchange f…

Ya for sure, realistically things will get tough but I think the point of this post is a high proportion of women stay in relationships where the guy doesn't give a shit that he makes her life hard, which is the toxic kind of conflict instead of the healthy kind where both parties are committed to resolution that you speak of. So it doesn't make sense to put in effort and care in the toxic case. Appreciate the clarification tho
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/05/21 03:47 AM

Honestly, from a rick-reward perspective it doesn't make sense to get couple up and rear babies when doing so most likely requires a double income household to get by. Standards of living are only getting higher and couple that with your selection pool of guys not being able to step up to meet these increasing demands while expecting a mommymaidsexdoll, it's less risky to be happy on your own and live independently than to take a chance on some guy who might gouge your being emotionally, psychol…

There is no contest when one person chronically siphons their partner of their peace and wellbeing, consciously or subconsciously, that is intentional unwillingness to do better especially when it's brought up as an issue — that party bears the entire burden of fault. It's unsustainable and self-centered and negative effort on their part, so I can't say I agree that effort and care are enough when the root of conflict stems from toxic dysfunction vs inconsequential disagreements that appear from…

I constantly get told I'm either intimidating or people are intimidated by me but I can't say I understand why. I'm tactful and go out of my way to extend kindness so it's not like I did anything to intentionally come off that way I'm just being myself. Though I now take intimidating as a compliment to my powerful presence (as all 'intimidating' ladies should), it still makes me wonder how people, usually women, get labelled as intimidating for just existing. Yikesssssss. As nice as the experience was for her, he only cares about what he got out of it and was happy to take the silver-plated opportunity when she was vulnerable and going through shit. Once it's all said and done, he's going to continue living his life without concern for her and their relationship moving forward will be centered around what she can do for him at his convenience, which means it can never be an authentic friendship. It's natural to crave sex and intimacy in a rough patch…

Yeah for sure, I'm glad you made the distinction! Like there is true gossip which is just toxic, and """"gossip"""" which is just a group of people being there for each to vent and offer advice, like you said. And it's important not to get them mixed up cause people like to use """gossip""" as a catch-all to dismiss you for wanting valid support from your network as a form of control

Yeah, as it's often said on this sub money acts as the silencer when it comes to sex work. I think it's important not to conflate sharing and calling how you see it with gossip, as in the bad faith variety where you're all up in people's shit and talking behind people's backs and sharing personal info that isn't meant to be shared. I hate this because it's true, it's often a reflection of how controlling a guy is because he thinks he's entitled to your physical and psychological being. I legit cringe with disgust when I think about guys like this. Glad I could offer another perspective !!! That being said, if you are looking into therapy and can afford it, I would recommend it so long as you find a therapist who respects your experience and has your best interest in mind. I think a part of it is that victimhood is often integrated into one's identity. Like I feel anxious and sometimes I get into depressive slumps but I don't identify with it they're transient phases that pass, and I really hate existing sometimes but I choose to get through it even though it sucks. The language of describing these things makes it super easy for identification which is a problem (I am anxious, I am depressed, I am codependent). Also, it's definitely one thing to acknowledge that o…

Self-gaslighting is so dangerous, because you're doing it to yourself you'll believe whatever conclusion you draw. The lesson here is no matter how good or hot or rich or gorgeous or honest you are as a woman, you'll never be safe from mistreatment at the hands of a man which I don't think enough people get. I'm glad you're in a better place tho

You can’t save your family, you can’t save your partner, and you can’t save your friends. If they’re going to be crap all you can do is create boundaries or leave. Yeah very true, but especially true for people with boundary issues. It also makes it easier for people in your life because they know exactly how to treat you and how you'll react if they overstep. Take it or leave it, but it's a win-win situation

These gestures are also things of basic decency. Why wouldn't I want to hold the door to help others behind me? Why wouldn't I give my seat up for a pregnant lady or elderly person? I agree with OP, you shouldn't marry just for love. Also keep in mind what we consider "love" today is something that's hedonistic and self-serving — romantic love as we know it is infatuation from sharing common interests, having fun together, and the expectation that this person is an exact mold for our ego. Think about dating app bios and how many people are under the impression that because you both like The Office you're right for each other. I think the true definition of love is positive,…

The point of humor is to make others laugh, true humor has a collective goal in mind. It's not """humor""" if you're using it as a get-out-of-jail card to be self-gratifying and shitty and then get defensive when the other person isn't impressed

It's madness how many women have the same experiences when it comes to this type of LVM interaction. Like on every corner of the internet, there is a woman somewhere that experienced debasement by some guy and his opinions, and it's even worse when you interact with them in real life. It's the most disrespectful and manipulative thing to desubjectivize someone in this way, basic decency isn't hard

Yeah, the way you communicate and interact with others is deeply reflective of your internal value system. Like if you aren't willing to co-operate or hear other people out, chances are you are a super controlling person and value authority instead of mutual-reciprocity. Maybe the proponents of sex work should focus on the bigger picture instead of immediately going for the knee jerk defense of "IT'S HER CHOICE!!!!". Okay so it's her choice: are there external factors that push her to make that choice? Besides financially, is it in her best emotional and psychological interest to make said choice? Will it harm her prospects if she chooses to leave sex work? Who benefits the most from her choice?…

Have you ever read Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein? Essentially, it speaks of systematic psychological trauma using "shock therapy" as a means of controlling en masse. She applies it to political, economic, and environmental disasters which serve as the shock but are then used to codify the ruling class through neo-liberal capitalist policies (re: 9/11, Iraq War, 2008 crash, COVID-19, etc.), but honestly this lil bag of tricks is no different in the context of solidifying the patriarchy. The perso…

I really liked the way you framed boundaries, especially with regards to wanting to be vulnerable to form deep connections. I came across a Rihanna quote that said "I regret opening up to some people, they didn't deserve to know me like that” and it stuck with me in learning how to enforce better self-boundaries. Like,I don't even share the innermost parts of myself with some of my closest friends and family, why am I doing this for people who I don't even know have my best self-interest in mind…

I completely feel you, being in a relationship is overly romanticized and pushed for as the ultimate life achievement, when in reality the goal should be embodying the ideal person you would want to be with. Unfortunately, holding yourself to high personal standards is too much effort and people enter relationships that don't work out because one/both parties didn't take the time to do the upfront work to ensure its success. It seems like the instant gratification aspects of relationships, like …

That's fair, not everyone likes Cardi B, and you may mean well but other people can't read your intentions. Also, life is EXHAUSTING existing as a woman, you get criticized for your very being so I try to remember women are subject to a lot of influences beyond their control even if one might not approve of them Keep in mind FDS has like 150K members, so while I agree in general everyone is in line with the vision, there are differences in the way each member approaches things. No dumb questions! A mod clarified the FDS radical stance with regards to politics, but I'd like to add radicalism is independent of where you lie politically, left or right: one can be a radical left-wing anarchist but on the opposite end radical right-wing authoritarian fascism exists. Radical in a neutral context would just mean critical of existing power structures and dynamics which results in not conforming to them (although some forms of radical thought are straight-up harmful). I love the superior logic demonstrated in that line lol. Liberal feminism looks out for the individual woman at the expense of the collective woman. Its values are very much in line with neo-lib free market ideology which is why its been co-opted and so readily marketed in mainstream society; it benefits a small group of women vs. womanhood, keeping the status quo in tact while throwing just enough scraps for women that we can be like yeah!!!! I have also noticed this and would wager it's a symptom of the collective issue on how we define "what a woman is/what a woman's role is" in the context of the patriarchy: Humanity is male and man defines woman not in herself but as relative to him; she is not regarded as an autonomous being...She is defined and differentiated with reference to man and not he with reference to her; she is the incidental, the inessential as opposed to the essential. Have you, dear readers of FDS, noticed how there always seems to be a link between low quality relationships, sex + pornography (including softcore social media posts), and information consumption mediated by technology? That's because it's intentionally set up by the society we live in, which is male-dominated hyper capitalism. THAT CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH. I think part of the reason we are witnessing the 21st century dumpster fire known as modern dating is partly due to the removal of interpersonal social conventions that were put in place to stigmatize scrubs when they demonstrated scrubby behaviour like pulling low effort bullshit and not fucking paying for a date when you asked a woman out with the intention of courting her (for sex or companionship). There was just more incentive to exhibit HV behaviour and more cons…

The way I interpreted that last paragraph was that if men want to be with a woman they have to do it properly, meaning society should keep in place and enforce accepted forms of conduct when engaging — examples would be demonstrating your ability to materially provide as an upfront cost, being clear with your intentions and not stringing a woman along for sex, etc. *If you as a man are unable to do that, then you should not be allowed to enter a partnership with a woman as you have not yet demon…

Mooood for life. The ending paragraph slapped me right in the face. If you are choosing to enter a partnership in the form of a marriage (which, as mentioned, primarily benefits men), you might as well leverage your power to optimize the process so that you get the most out of something that was established to work against you until you or, more likely, your partner dies. AT LEAST in that case you can look back fondly without the destitution.
