With my first boyfriend, I became someone I couldn’t recognize. He made me feel like a caged animal — he would physically block me from going out without him, put trackers on my phone, screened all of my texts, threatened me, stomped cigarettes on my clothing, put me down constantly, and so much more. One day we had a fight, and I actually jumped on him and ripped his shirt completely. I felt like I had an intense fever, just overcome with anger like I never experienced before. He took everythin…

Dude... yes. He was HORRIBLE throughout the entire show, I seriously can’t understand why anyone liked him. He was a manipulative, controlling, jealous, pathetic man and she gave up the opportunity of a lifetime for lOvE from a man who didn’t even respect her. Friends is truly a dumpster fire.

These gross comments (all men...obviously) are so disgusting, I’m seriously seething. People are actually trying to say that grooming isn’t real? Unless it’s a “six year old”, I believe someone said. His argument was that “you’d see 40 year olds with 18 year old girlfriends all the time” if that was the case. Are you kidding me? Also, seriously, who cares if 17 is “not a minor” in some states? He knew her before then anyway, as a 30 year old man. It’s really not difficult to understand why that’…

A question that only people who are truly ignorant of abuse would ask. I mean, hey, I’m happy they don’t fully understand — because that would mean that they have endured it too. But at least try to have an ounce of empathy, and stop putting the burden of responsibility on the victim.

I’m pretty sure they just read the name “FemaleDatingStrategy” and think we’re a bunch of lonely female pickup-artist equivalents. ...except we’re just a bunch of women who are trying to defend ourselves against toxic/low-effort men and improve ourselves. So nah, pretty much the opposite.

Exactly, same to everything you said! I think it’s all in how you handle talking about games with men. If I see a woman that’s a little too eager to insert herself into conversations about gaming with men, or starts using their “speak” it starts to feel a bit...pickme. It’s honestly sad that we can’t gush about games we’re passionate about without 1) having a high chance of appealing to LVM, and/or 2) looking like a pickme. After all this time it’s still seen as a boy’s club, and misogyny is ram…

This actually brought me to tears because this used to be my life for multiple years. Wall punching, physical abuse, laughing and/or screaming at me when I cried. Cracking his phone screen on my skull, then asking me to go to the Apple Store with him to get it fixed. If a guy even said two words to me when we were out, he’d accuse me of cheating or fight the guy, depending on how drunk he was. This. Shit. Isn’t. Right. Not a soul on Earth deserves this. I’m happy to hear this woman is safe and o…

Thank god his brother is reasonable. I hope he did pay for it, to piss him off. But seriously, dating a guy who lived with his parents forever to save money usually isn’t a good move, from my experience. They’re going to nickel and dime everything, with no appreciation for others subsidizing their life as if it’s “expected”.

Yup, in the comments she said she wished she could be with him, but he’s “in love with someone else”. I can’t. I was really trying to be sympathetic but this has just crossed the beyond-help-pickmeisha line for me.

I’ve been in her shoes before. I definitely let society tell me this was acceptable, and even good/great! Thankfully I started to listen to my body, which was rejecting all of these men, then a while after that I stumbled upon FDS. I can only hope the same happens for her and other women like her.

God, I say this all the time to my friends. My NVM ex was a waiter, and yet...he was so rude to waitstaff when they made the slightest “mistake”. What the fuck? I had to argue with him over still tipping at least 20%. He worked at the most “meh” restaurant with some of the shittiest people in the world, and most of the time he was drunk on the job. He actually fist fought a customer once. Yet he had the nerve to judge these perfectly well-meaning waitresses/waiters that we had on their “skills”.…

I think the problem people are getting at here is the phrasing of “men and females”, and similar. Calling men “men”, which is humanizing, and women “females” or something else related to their genitalia/physical makeup, which is dehumanizing. I totally get what you’re saying though. I also prefer to be respectful of others’ gender identification, and I see what the original commenter was trying to do, but it’s just interesting that I can’t even remember the last time I read the word “male” - yet…

I see the comments more as others here are trying to compliment and uplift women — which is nice and all, and I think the intention is good. But I also think beauty should not be the focus of the conversation here as I think it detracts from the message. Honestly though, I’m just mad that the audio is stolen without credit, and it’s a TikTok trend. I’m also biased because I can’t stand TikTok. 😐

I think it’s just some stupid, nonsensical TikTok trend where you do something completely unrelated and mouth someone else’s words. I can’t bring myself to download TikTok, so I’m not 100% sure, but I’ve seen this stuff reposted a lot.

Yeah, men just love to write fanfics and LARP as women on here. No sane woman in a monogamous relationship would think that her husband having sex with her sister would be a reasonable way to get rid of her depression.

This. I’m dealing with a stupid, rude coworker right now, who started just a month after me (also first job out of college, like me). He’s really such an inept software engineer, can’t design or debug anything to save his life, and he barely makes any sense when he talks or asks questions. A man says as much as “wifey” and he’s out, in my book. My boyfriend judges me for my character and not the things I could do for him. And every time I start cooking when he’s over, he will immediately rush to help and also clean everything after (happily). He’d be mortified if I served him. Any guy who’s more than happy to sit on his ass and let you wait on him — while doing little to nothing in return — just isn’t it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/02/21 03:34 PM

It amuses me because “incel” = “involuntarily celibate”. They’re constantly going on about how our lives as women are easier because of our easy access to sex (although they never once consider all of the risks it poses to us, of course). But it’s true, we could have it whenever we wanted — we will never be involuntarily celibate. We are very much in control of that, just more selective. I’ve tried to just shut these people out because I know they can’t piece together a logical argument to save …

It’s true, I used to use that site. I thought it would be a way for me to lift myself up and have nice dates after an abusive relationship. I found one guy who was actually pretty great, we went on many dates. Same here... mine was an alcoholic who abused me behind closed doors, and the group was a bunch of enablers who didn’t believe me, even though he verbally abused some of them while drunk on multiple occasions. Yeah seriously, sometimes I feel like I’m in a Bizarro world where somehow people think it’s okay to date and touch strangers in the midst of a deadly, contagious virus that there are panicked news articles about every single day And then, sadly, I remember how stupid and selfish people are. You’re lucky! How do you meet men like that?! I think I’ve only encountered one man in my life who cleans constantly (and chefs it up, masterfully). He really has his home life together. Maybe it’s because I’m just out of college, and working in a field where men are stereotyped as being unkempt and lazy... for a reason, of course. 🥲 When this pandemic is over, I really gotta go meet some new people.

Unreal 🤮 I just don’t understand how anyone can live like that. Like, at LEAST vacuum. And wash your towels, your sheets, your clothes... and fold them. I literally grew up in a house with hoarder parents who barely cooked or cleaned, and I still overcame that even when I went to college. I learned how to cook. I clean regularly. Oh absolutely. My first boyfriend did this all the time. We lived together (big mistake) and he did this every time I even tried to go to the grocery store by myself...because he thought I was cheating on him. He was horribly abusive. I felt like a caged animal. No one should ever prevent you from leaving an enclosed area, even if it’s under the guise of trying to make sure that a conflict is resolved. It is abusive to deny another person their agency.

I feel kinda bad saying this, but I’ve been so exhausted with people lately that I haven’t been keeping up with them. One of my best friends has a kid with an LVM (I can’t stand him), and the other only wants to talk to me when her boyfriend is out of town (who is also probably an LVM). Post-pandemic, I do feel like I want to pursue better relationships with women. It’s so difficult to weed through the pickmes, though. Try not to be so hard on yourself...nothing in life prepares us for things like this. Especially not before a first relationship, where all we have are movies and people trying to feed us fairy tales and lies. Male violence is seen as the norm, starting from a young age. I know that in my experience, everyone in my life tried to tell me that it wasn’t abuse, since he wasn’t beating the shit out of me. I believed them. “Adult judgment calls”... how patronizing. He’s lucky he’s never had to deal with anything like that from a woman. What a piece of garbage. I can't believe I was actually swindled into being into BDSM as a teenager. I genuinely believed that that was the ONLY way to make myself interesting in bed. Little did I know, it was just a huge scam, and its appeal to me was just a reflection of my earlier trauma more than anything. Scam, scam, scam. Men almost always orgasm, no matter what. I hate that. I especially hate that he did that to an intern, but it also doesn’t surprise me. I just know that this has something to do with women for them. Most — if not all — of the women in tech that I’ve met have a variety of non-tech-related interests. I know that many of the men I have worked with already look down on their female peers because they are misogynists, and this is yet another way for them to put us down. A socially acceptable way.

Hahaha, YEP. It’s crazy to think that so many of us have been tricked into thinking these men are somehow the prize, and that we should fight with other women over them... hellllll no. I’ll pass. Time to unite instead 💪🏻

You’re amazing! 💪🏻 I’m so glad you’re here on FDS and completely rid of this pathetic man! I read your story and wow, I can’t even imagine. I can’t wait to hear about the better things you find in life after taking the trash out ❤️ I also know what it’s like to be in a relationship with an alcoholic. It’s so damn horrible, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I don't believe that any man who approaches me when I'm minding my own business in public is a quality man. It's just never turned out to be that way. Pre-COVID, I was approached a few times at work (I work in a male-dominated field unfortunately), and by crazies on the street fairly regularly (I live in Boston, what can I say). I also went to concerts and raves quite a bit so that also was conducive to me meeting random men. In fact, my worst relationship began with a man approaching me at a ra…

Bleh, this hits close to home for me. My most recent ex used to do the same thing to me, but he also abused me in every other way possible, which obviously contributed to my lack of sex drive. I was so depressed, and on top of everything, I also felt guilty for not having sex with him. Unfortunately, it still spills into my current relationship. I was conditioned for years to feel this way, so sometimes I apologize or get anxious with my now-boyfriend when I'm not in the mood. He is incredulous …

Seriously, that’s so fucked up. Your clothing sounds about as conservative as it possibly could be. What did they expect you to do, wear a gigantic tent from your shoulders to your ankles? I’m a petite woman with zero curves, and to me the grass has always looked somewhat greener on the other side, but I can’t imagine the kind of overt sexism that women with your body type go through.

I feel like we’re very similar! I also sometimes wonder how much of my pleasant demeanor is because of my conditioning as a woman in society, but then I always have to remind myself that being rude, curt or even remotely mean to others is just not a part of who I am. HAHA this just happened to me the other day. Quarantine really has people messed up. I never dated him, or even flirted with him, but we used to work together. We were friendly until he made things super toxic by imposing his feelings on me. When I didn’t reciprocate, he was extremely whiny and angry. Always demanding my time and energy, and free therapy from me, and for what? I had literally just left an abusive relationship and didn’t need any of that crap. I told him that and cut off whatever…

Hahahaha same, girl. It’s kind of confusing sometimes when you actually enjoy video games, but you also associate them with your cringey pickme past. I am so proud of you. I’m beyond proud of any fellow woman who does the hard thing and removes themselves from their abusive relationship. It’s way more difficult than people would think — you risk so much by leaving, and sometimes you’ve been gaslit to the point where you actually believe you’re the crazy one. Or that nothing’s wrong, that this is normal, that you’re somehow blowing it out of proportion. I’m so sorry he did this to you. What a coward. As soon as you can, get that restraining or…

My libido almost completely disappeared after the first time my ex screamed at me in a drunken rage for not wanting to feed his ball python for him, after it attacked me the previous time. He backed me into a corner, pushed me into the wall, scraped my arm and threatened to destroy my belongings. This was the first time he showed abusive tendencies, 2 years into the relationship. Oh that’s definitely true, we do. But we’re called Female Dating Strategy, not Women Going Our Own Way. A large majority of us are still dealing with men, and yes, we have to sift through a lot of people with undesirable behaviors, hence the complaining. I agree, I haven’t been on this sub too long but I haven’t seen anything calling for violence against men, or anything outrageous like that. They really just can’t let it go, and it will only be to their detriment. Their mental health will decline as their obsession with us — and their resistance to maturing and improving themselves — grows stronger. I personally don’t spend my time lurking on MGTOW and other incel forums because I know what I’ll see there. I know these places contain legitimate hate for women, despite the former supposedly being for men “going their own way” and avoiding women or whatever. Which is totally fine, but…

Hahahah I love when they try to turn it around on you like that. Newsflash, it’s an addiction - those are not legitimate “needs”. This is coming from someone who used to be addicted to video games in middle school and early high school. And YES hahahah I do! Ahh, reading this was like taking a trip to my past. My most recent ex (before I discovered FDS) was a 30 year old abusive alcoholic and college-dropout who was also addicted to Fortnite. Which is a trash game for 12 year old children, no one can convince me otherwise. He actually tried to blame his gaming addiction on me, because apparently I was so horrible to be around, so needy and “ungrateful”. Meanwhile all I was doing was asking him for some time with just us, to go on dates, but apparent…

Oh hi I think you’re amazing! Fellow metal lover here, since I was 13, concert-goer since 16.👋🏻 I used to be a huge pickme and always ate that “you’re like the other girls” talk right up when I was in high school. I focused all of my energy on how “cool” and “different” I was. Thankfully I woke up and started embracing my femininity again, without caring about appealing to men. I love makeup, fashion of all kinds, yoga, going to raves with fairy outfits — and I still love metal just as much as I…

Oh man. That’s just...I have no words. I’m very glad you haven’t experienced that though! Almost every guy I’ve dated has been unfazed by it too, but there was one in particular who almost seemed afraid of my period. He also was highly critical of my body when I wasn’t fully shaven though, among other things, so there were other problems going on. Some men just hate a woman’s body. 🙃
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/07/20 12:31 PM

I’m actually curious if he has something against having sex with her on her period... Obviously if she doesn’t want to have sex on her period, that is 110% perfectly understandable and her choice. It’s her body. But if he‘s one of those guys who doesn’t want to have sex on a woman’s period because he thinks it’s “yucky” and “ewww female biology” — and then has the nerve to turn around and complain about it — that would be on a whole different plane of ridiculousness. Not that I haven’t already m…

Not only that, but there are so many horribly racist comments here too. So many subreddits exist as outlets for trash men on this site to show their true colors. It’s obvious that it’s not a joke or a statement to prove a point. They just hate women and POC.

I understand exactly how you feel because I’ve gone through the exact same thought processes myself. But the reality is - no matter how seemingly “perfect” you are as a woman, you always run the risk of attracting a man who will undermine and abuse you. No one is exempt from this, even Megan Fox. I don’t know you, but you didn’t mess up. It’s not your fault that he treated you poorly. The important thing is that you’ve left him in the dirt where he belongs, and that you’re actively doing things …

Yep, it’s actually quite sick! The last straw for me was when I was picking up my things to move out following my exit from an abusive relationship. His computer was open, unlocked on the bed, and it was on Pornhub. Couldn’t help but notice that he had searched for porn specifically for women like me — redhead and petite. So yeah, he traumatized, berated and abused me to the point of me breaking and finally leaving him, and his only thought was to watch porn of “me” and jack off. Disgusting.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/05/20 01:33 PM
30

What is wrong with people...the fact that this subreddit even exists and shows anything other than professional fighting, and people ENJOY it — that’s disgusting. There are videos of people dying on there. And I don’t even want to think of people supporting a man beating a woman. I had enough of that with my ex’s friends.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/05/20 01:40 PM
16

Well we’re both petty then, haha! Unfortunately I’ve lived with groups of men throughout college (I’m in a male-dominated field, so sadly I didn’t meet many women to room with). Let me tell you, it was the worst. The mess was so bad that I just gave up. Nothing I did could fix the issue for more than a day before the place was disgusting again. Fortunately, I graduated and am actually making money now, so I can afford to live away from those types!

Right? Also, barely related but — why can’t 90% of men put a new damn roll of toilet paper on the toilet paper holder when a roll is finished? Can anyone answer this? Are we really that hard to please, or are a majority of men just incapable of giving the bare minimum?

Haha it was completely ridiculous. According to him, "no other woman" he had been with had "needed that". Also I was the "only woman" he had been with who was "hard to please" according to him. He liked to make me feel bad about that. And believe me, he wasn't god's gift to earth, even in a completely superficial sense.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words! I've certainly learned my lesson there. I shouldn't be dependent on any future partners for anything, including comfort and affection, because that's the first step to potentially opening myself up to abuse and manipulation. It's sad that we have to consider these things and constantly search for red flags, but it's necessary.
