I'm so tired of labelling masculinity and femininity as toxic or positive, I'm tired of everything. Sigh.

Least important: people who claim to suffer emotional distress from feeling personally attacked by an ad that points out that we should probably fund endometriosis research more than male pattern baldness research. Presumably because they think male pattern baldness is more important than endometriosis but don't think that's wrong? I don't get how anyone but people who deny grants for horrifically sexist reasons would feel personally attacked by this tbh. More likely you feel emotional distress …

It's genuinely dangerous if you are with someone like that, because if you even make the slightest mistake, as all imperfect humans eventually do, she will literally be on you in an instant.

I wonder why so many men are just curling up and trying to die nowadays? Surely this can't be because the hatred ultimately got to them and they now genuinely believe they are subhuman and don't even deserve to live? (Sarcasm)

I do actually agree it's a real problem and that it's wrong that it's underfunded (See original post). My real issue isn't with endometriosis getting attention or more resources at all, it's that it was framed so comically badly that it ends up reading as "We don't have endometriosis treatments or aids or know much about this thing that hurts women badly at all because we spent all the money trying to fix men going bald" which really just smells of NowThis trying to start yet another fight betwe…

Ah yes, the age old question of how lonely struggling guys can be abusers when they've never been close to or know others, which is like the number 1 requirement for someone to be an abuser.

I don't know anymore man. Sometimes it feels like men who have mental disabilities of any sort or who are struggling to function in a confusing world and who are unable to put on a facade of normalcy aren't even seen as humans at all, just the worst of the worst stereotypes that is foaming at the mouth waiting to stab people who even show him a shred of kindness and rape women that cross his sights. And then that leads to people treating actually struggling men as subhuman trash. It's so tiring,…

Andrew Tate is seen by pretty much everyone here as a massive loser and this space has done a great deal of work to distance itself from him in spite of some trying to tie him to this subreddit, so I'm not sure why he was brought up?

They're not though and it's really weird that men can't handle the vitriol they've pushed out towards women coming back at them even a little bit. It's sort of pathetic WHO DID??? Who pushed vitriol towards women?? I didn't do SHIT yet I still get treated the exact same as an Andrew Tate bootlicker by these kinds of people, tell me again, are you REALLY sure it's only the misogynists who slander women that get this kind of retribution?

I never got what the point was when the radicals laugh at men while spewing the "Aww is your wittle fee fees hurt" filth. Like, yeah, men are sentient beings with functioning emotions, and a being with emotions tends to not like being dragged through the mud like that. Are women any more immune to rightful anger when being slandered like that than men are? Because from what I gather, the response from women whenever some actual misogynist spews genuine anti-woman garbage is sheer and overwhelmin…

Even if the left can't be changed, this space is one of the only non-misogynistic places that pushes back against men being beaten into oblivion. If this place ceased to exist, one of the only lights in a very dark world would be permanently extinguished and there would be nowhere left for men to go, all that would exist would be radical feminist spaces telling suffering men to eat shit and die. This place exists for hope and support for men really.

I wonder if there's anything we could do about this? I've seen a post calling for this subreddit to be more productive and stop going off the rails about women in the past, maybe we could do that again somehow to keep us on track.

I agree, I am somewhat disappointed with us. It seems that some of the bitterness of being used as punching bags has gotten to some of us, which is very unfortunate. I still do have hope for us though, because I've seen us stop such things from spreading in our community in the past, and I'm confident all is not lost and we can do it again.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/06/26 02:30 PM

I'm going to have to agree here, we cannot start denying the past, otherwise we've officially failed at our mission. We absolutely do not want to start doing revisionist stuff like the radicals do to us.

I fully realize there are counterpoints to those examples, but let's be intellectually honest. It was certainly advantageous to be a man (in many ways) 6+ decades ago, and for most of human history. The issue is that now, most of those examples leave only vestigial traces in western societies, but mainstream feminism chooses to highlight the antiquated systemic injustices of last century as if they were still fully present. Indeed, sometimes some deny it ever existed, which is a bit troubling si…

Out of curiosity what would that be? I've always mentioned to people that men and women have the same rights, it's just that they suffer from different things and issues more disproportionately than the other. But I'm happy to learn more about this and add to my knowledge if my understanding isn't fully accurate.

I don't want to comment too much since I haven't seen the entire thing, but if so this is not surprising. Men's welfare has always been equated to neo-Nazism and extremist right-wing politics to make sure people never take it seriously as long as it has been around.

I'd say it depends, but from experience I am willing to concede that what you say is probably true for a shocking number of currently misogynistic men. They've been utterly broken down and beaten to the floor by all the people spewing hatred at them and then continued to get kicked while down and completely defenseless (Because Lord knows the radicals absolutely do not give a fuck about the age old wisdom of not kicking someone when he/she is down) until something inside them snapped and they de…

Can't speak for everyone obviously but I've always been accepting of gay men (And women really). I find that unlikely. Men are half the population, so there's too many of us for a full on genocide to happen. If you lost an entire half of the people on the planet the entire world would collapse because when you lose that many people, there's a high chance many of those people were critical to keep the world running, regardless of if they were men or not. Also obviously you can't have children without men. But if these 3 factors weren't the case though? With how much the radicals hate men the…

Something I love about this place is we help men without doing what the radicals do and shitting on women, this is very much a place that cares for everyone. It's a rare gem in a sea of misogynistic turds.

Easy: Because I love humans too much to become a misanthrope despite all our flaws. Also, becoming misanthropic also means hating the men that are victims of this ideology, so why would I do that?

I got a chuckle out of this because of the really risky title. I'm willing to bet any radicals who come to this subreddit will take one look at that title, not even bother to read the post, and instantly come running back to their echo chambers screeching SEE I TOLD YOU THEY WERE DEFENDING CREEPS AND RAPISTS.

My buddy straight up saw a post trying to downplay and minimize the sacrifices that fathers have to make for their families because "Men still have to work for a living anyway even without families, and you were the one that chose to have kids/families, so stop whining and using that as an excuse". You just know for a fact that they'd be praising and deeply cherishing a woman who was making sacrifices for her family and wouldn't be applying that logic to her if it were a woman and not a man.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/26 05:58 AM

A hell of a lot of them seem to be grown adults unfortunately.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/26 05:54 AM

Please don't apologize for them. Their actions are not your responsibility or fault. I've said this somewhere else, but here we fully reject the notion of collective guilt by virtue of sharing characteristics with someone that is doing bad things. We'd be no better than them if we didn't.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/26 05:54 AM

"Men are sooooo emotional" comments when there's a cherry-picked instance of a man doing something rash will always haunt my nightmares.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/26 05:51 AM

I will respectfully push back on this response, we should not be treating a woman who feels down and unhappy about being a woman like this. We'd be no better than the ones we criticize, though granted I agree with the original message that men and women should be allies rather than competing with each other. I don't claim to have the answers and solutions to alleviate how she feels, but we should be kind to each other.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/05/26 05:50 AM
5

Please don't feel this way. I don't really know what to say that will help you feel better about this since I am categorically dogshit at helping people who are feeling down, but just know you aren't any less for being a woman, and the actions of other women who do happen to be misandrist aren't your fault, we do NOT do collective guilt here, we reject that notion 100% always. I really do hope you'll see yourself in a better light as time goes on.

Some here have suggested that women simply share those experiences more while men don't really have anyone who's interested in listening to what he has to say in the first place, and women also tend to pre-emptively fear becoming a victim more while men are more blissfully unaware despite being in similar danger in certain situations, but I'd be curious to hear more about what others here have to say.

It genuinely pains me to do that to women which is why I've never done it, but at this point it feels like they legitimately will not listen to anything else.

There are plenty of cases of women doing horrible things too, but you don't see me hating all women because of that. The only people who do hate women because they generalize all women like that are the radicalized dumbasses like Andrew Tate or Fresh and Fit, but how is that a good representation of all men? But of course they love to apply it to men anyway, and then when you apply their own logic to women as an example to point out how unfair it is, the sheer amount of hatred you get back is ge…

Modern progressive spaces have confused being harmless with being good. I argue that they haven't, that is in fact one of the most devastating weapons they use against men: "You're not good, you're just as evil and as much of a fucking oppressor as the men committing horrific acts are, you simply don't have the power to enact your evil, otherwise you'd have dozens of women chained up in your basement by now" I'd know, because I was one of the victims of such rhetoric.

For most of my teens into early 20's I was the definition of "self-hating feminist man that apologizes for existing" and this was not helped by being an abusive friendship that actively fed those thoughts and manipulated the relationship so I became emotionally dependent on her. It destroyed me so much I almost died. It became untenable to buy into the lie that I was the problem. Literally this was me. This is from a feminist woman, posted in a feminist subreddit: -''My partner is leftist, thoughtful, non-violent and genuinely engaged with egalitarianism. I've learnt that these radical feminists are truly incredibly insecure. They often come after people at the slightest hint of any issue mentioned about men, even when women were not mentioned or made fun of in the original post at all. Yeah lmao. I've always said that if women suddenly ruled the world overnight, to be charitable to them it wouldn't be any worse compared to men ruling the world, but it really wouldn't be any different or grossly better either, because women are, shockingly, still human just like men are and are subject to the same flaws that men also have.

I wholeheartedly believe that the only thing saving men right now is that we make up half the population. When a group is half the population, it's hard to do anything to them because there's so many of them, and also they help keep the world running alongside women, losing half the world (Men in this case) would be catastrophic for everyone remaining on the planet (Women). I get what you mean, but what the radical feminists are doing doesn't help in the slightest. Slamming men as hard as you can does nothing but make the problem worse. Women suffer too? Yes, we're all aware of that. But going after men really does not help improve the world for women one bit, it just feels good to assign faces to blame for your misfortune and proceed to go on a rampage against them, but the world does not work that way always.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/05/26 06:48 AM

Y'know methinks if the lot of them stopped beating all men over the head with rape statistics and insinuating that all men are rapists for existing as men, the men would have much more time to actually care about women suffering these things without having to take time away from that to defend themselves with the not all men rebuttal.

It's so confusing to be a man nowadays really. If you're the one taking care of the woman you love for instance you're oppressive and ruling over her life with an iron fist because you have all the power in the relationship and subjecting her to a life of suffering and misery. Women, as a class, have been systematically oppressed, harassed, abused, and dismissed by men and male-dominated institutions. Individual women accumulate personal experiences of this harm: assault, discrimination, condescension, domestic violence, and more. From these experiences, a generalized wariness or contempt toward men develops. Because this contempt is rooted in real experience, it is not mere bigotry. It is an evidence-based, self-protective response. It's always so funny to me to see …

By their logic if I had a bad girlfriend I am entitled to have uber misogynistic views and hatred of women that rivals Andrew Tate. I wouldn't actually do that if I had a bad girlfriend (Side fact, the only one I've had was the best soul ever) because I'm not an asshole, but it's funny to see how reprehensible their logic is when you switch who the victims of that hatred are.

Not surprised really. Have you seen that sheer amount of hatred that's been going on for such a long time now? Not hard to guess from that, that most women outright hate men nowadays. And who could blame them, when the mainstream view and the popular thing nowadays is male hatred? Sometimes, I don't even think it's women's fault so many of them are like this. When you're surrounded by so much hatred, and it's not just accepted but normalized as well, it's hard to avoid joining the hate yourself.…

95.1% of all men is such a stupendously high number that anyone with common sense should raise eyebrows when they see it. Otherwise that means effectively every one of us is a rapist. Which I guess that means I raped someone while sleepwalking in that case, because I don't remember ever doing something that heinous, or even thinking about doing that to anyone. Actually, scratch that, that's what the radicals probably want you to believe, that effectively every man is a rapist. That's probably wh…

No idea why this comment only just appeared for me now, but regardless. I'm actually more charitable to feminism than some here, I don't think the hatred has to be characteristic of feminism at all really. But unfortunately, what is on paper or in theory is rarely what happens in practice, in practice, many, and I mean many, adopt the extreme hatred when they learn of the things women suffer from and become feminists, because it's easy and appeals to human psychology. It is sometimes human natur…

BUT! The most sickest thing I've come across last year was on Instagram and Threads. It's an innocent video at a party where the guests are playing this game of getting a hula hoop to the end of the human chain but you have to get it there while keeping hold of the persons hand. At this party they did 'men vs women'. The men took like a minute to get the hula hoop to the end as they gradually slid it down. While the women had a different strategy of just all walking through the hoop one by one w…

Literally my friend came across https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWoxAYskgJm/ recently. It was a silly reel about boys messing around while the girls were serious, you know, stuff that any normal people would realize is just a funny video of kids and maybe an interesting observation of girls maturing faster than boys, which is something we've already known for a long time by the way. But no, it instantly became a commentary in the comments of how men are pathetic and inferior in every aspect, scum…

Someone else here put it beautifully: To cross swords with the radical misandrists is like fighting an extreme racist as a person of colour and then basing your self worth entirely on what said racist is going to say back to you in response. It's so obvious what's going to happen, you're just going to get called the N word with the hard "er" at the end and get emotionally annihilated. Likewise with fighting the radical misandrists head on.

I've never thought that it's totally useless actually. There are many merits to feminism in helping women. I personally don't oppose those parts of feminism. Where I draw the line is the extra parts included alongside advocacy for women, namely the extreme male hatred that accompanies it.

The solution to the rise of misogyny should never be piling on more misandry and hoping that the counter hatred somehow works, like way too many people do nowadays. In fact, that will simply have the opposite of the desired effect. To take a page from what you said, in an ideal world you can be a feminist without hating men, but in practice that is not what is done at all.

While it's sad to see men who care about women and are more left leaning still suffer all this abuse, that's a good thing to see that young men are at least not stooping to their level and starting an alpha male crusade against women. That would be abandoning our principles of being good people just to get back at them, and worse, would just prove their point and hand them the ability to suck in ever more young women into their cult of one-dimensional male hatred on a silver platter.

One thought though - what would real male advocates look like and how would they have to present themselves to distance themselves from people like Andrew Traint? That's a real question because if it's an image issue, how does that movement get louder to say, "Fuck you, you're not one of us." Honestly the depressing thing is I'm not even sure that's possible. (I may disagree with some opinions here) That is not at all a problem by the way, we're perfectly fine with disagreements. /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/03/26 04:34 PM

That's also a fair point, I guess my response is that a lot of people who aren't feminists also make that association, because it's been so ingrained in them from watching video essays on YouTube or through other means that manosphere = misogynist. Perhaps this is to ensure that those people aren't immediately pulled in by the radicals rather than to earn any goodwill from the radicals themselves.

“Punching up” is just socially accepted prejudice. It reduces individuals to symbols or stereotypes that people feel free to mock or attack. The logic becomes: if someone represents a powerful group, cruelty toward them is fair game. The problem then isn’t dehumanizing others, but that the “wrong” people were doing it. I've never been able to put this into words, so seeing my own thoughts be put into words so well is incredibly satisfying.

I don't know why their shouting is so effective that it can completely shut down your valid response that you're not an anti feminist and instantly bring people over to their side. It sometimes feels like it's an art that certain people have perfected.

I think I might have to half agree with OP though. I might get shit for this, but I do feel like the radicals have a lot of experience to draw from in their "advocacy" (In quotes because it's really male hatred in disguise) while the average man is not really equipped to handle the sort of venomous arguments the radicals have in completely shutting down discussions. This isn't really men's fault, it's not a skill issue, rather it's because not many mainstream institutions with actual power and r…

If they can do it, why can't we? Phrasing on this is a little poor, it makes it sound like this is a call to action to put women through what the radicals have put us men through, but I get that's probably not what you meant. Is "women hurt men's feelings" really the best comeback to a woman complaining about serious problems like reproductive rights or abuse? This, so much this. I'm so tired of the radicals making it sound like the only problem men face is hurt feelings while women are being hu…

I'm always curious about this. If you took a look at women's rights in the past (But not so far back that we're talking about ancient humans, more like the 1950s) they genuinely did have it really bad and were actually mistreated and not given the same rights. How do we reconcile this with the view that women didn't always have it worse off than men? Same thing with how I don't know how to reconcile the fact that men aren't all rapists and murderers like the radicals claim we are with the fact t…

The truth is it's a little more bleak than you suggest. If they want to call you anti feminist, they will call you anti feminist, and no amount of well crafted arguments on your end will get through to them or anyone else. They will simply shout the anti feminist claims louder than you can respond, and bulldoze right through with superior numbers on their side while your words go in one ear and out the other.

the internet is not representative of how people actually think or behave I've been telling myself this for ages as cope, but the truth is the internet is exactly what people's true thoughts and behaviour are while real life is a lie. In real life everyone hides their true selves to appear like decent people because the backlash is much more tangible and consequences more severe in person. On the internet, they get to behave like their true selves with impunity.

I wouldn't say that men face gender-based oppression per se, but they absolutely do face unfair treatment and are the targets of movements and campaigns that want to see power taken away from them (The power people want to take away from them doesn't exist unless said man is one of the global elites, mind you, so in practice this would make men literally powerless in society and unable to do anything to contribute to it, and then they'd get insulted for not contributing to society).

This may not be fully related, but I felt like pointing out that the movie K-pop Demon Hunters (Which I know about and saw thanks to my nieces who all love the movie) is probably the only piece of media I've ever seen that actually pulled off a whole man vs woman concept without ever once demonizing either men or women and pushing a narrative about the political rot which has driven us apart so much. The woman who basically wrote the entire movie has my full respect for that.

Just to be clear human trafficking is a very serious issue, I wouldn't want to deny that. The issue is not that human trafficking is a hoax and doesn't exist (It does) it's that mainstream narratives push the idea that every man alive on the planet is part of a human trafficking gang (This is obvious hyperbole, you get what I mean). Other than that, I agree with you, it's going to be hell when you have AI in the mix, now bad faith actors will be pumping out tons of videos of men doing the most h…

The OP's honesty has been called into question, but this feels like a different point altogether so I'll risk bringing this up. I've said it once but I'll say it again: It's as if the only good man to these radicals is a literal doormat who gets walked all over by everyone else. Standing up for yourself (Literally just protecting yourself, not even arguing with others about something) would be evil, because that would be forcing your voice on others and silencing women. Also, quoting one of my f…

Nice, thanks for not jumping on the bandwagon. Sorry OP, but unlike the radicals we criticize, we don't typically accept everything without checking it first. The entire community here would crumble overnight if we did, because then we'd be no different from the groups that are misandrist echo chambers who never challenge their own often harmful views.

You make some good points. Though I disagree with "If you’re focused on men. Talk about men. Talk about how they suffer. Tell their stories and talk policy." since have you seen what people do to those that actually do that? +Mainly we only talk about feminism in relation to its active hostility and constant treating of men like punching bags expected to shoulder all the blame for everything going on in the world. If we want to progress and have men's issues taken seriously, one of the steps to …

I've always said this: It's easy to lie with statistics. Also, I don't know about where you might live, but when a woman is killed usually it's because of domestic issues and disputes turned violent, you know, things that people often have, just usually it doesn't turn deadly. Very rarely is a woman killed "Just because she's a woman" and nothing else. Maybe if you're Nicholas Fuentes or Andrew Tate, then sure, I can believe you'd kill a woman just because she was born female. The average man is…

Good reminder honestly. With so many murderers you see on the news killing others, it inflates your perception of how many are killers when they're like, what, hundreds of thousands out of billions of people? Not a comment on how common or rare it is for women to be killed, more "It's a good reminder that most people are not murderers, man or woman"

Happy you're here too! Unfortunately this subreddit seems to have become mortal enemies with feminist subreddits by simply existing it seems. You may or may not encounter attacks when certain people find out you've posted here before. The classic "They don't embody left wing views" and whatnot (Probably because being concerned about men itself is seen as right wing). But regardless, enjoy your stay!

I guess it's best to be careful about saying you "hate" ideologies in general. Say the ideology is feminism for instance, since it's widely perceived to be about women's rights and thus seen as flawless, you saying you hate it is taken to mean you hate women's rights, and hence hate women. Sucks that you have to think 10 steps ahead about how others will possibly interpret what you say, but there's nothing that can be done about it if you value your voice being heard, as it can be silenced at a …

Some of the idea is there (No one should ever be drafted), but this suggestion is ultimately too impractical to carry out. Dismantling capitalism is already going to be nigh impossible, and we haven't even gotten to the "End war" part yet.

My thoughts exactly. What exactly are we fighting for, the right for women to get blown up by an IED in combat?

I guess they looked at the men who are part of fringe groups who really do say those things and just decided all men are just clones of them. Which, I totally love suffering the same collective punishment as goddamn Nicholas Fuentes and all the other insane manosphere types just because I share their gender...

Not saying anything about whether I agree or not, but when you go after people with this kind of hostility and anger, do you really think it'll be thought provoking to a radical feminist and cause her to re-evaluate her beliefs, or will it just make her double and triple down even harder on fuck all men and kill all men?

I don't really know how to feel about this honestly. Being forced to fight in a war is quite possibly the only thing I oppose having women be included in, because when we think about it, what are we really fighting for? The right for a woman to get blown apart or die in horrendous ways in combat? Yes, I agree that no one should be forced to fight, and no, this doesn't make men's lives any less valuable or disposable, but when a war really happens and we have no other choice I'd feel guilty if we…

You know your comment resonates with me. Honestly I count myself unbelievably lucky to have been born in a place that, while strict, actually manages to find a rather decent balance in protecting women and uplifting them while at the same time not utterly demonizing men and developing all these borderline hateful ideas about them. For one, I've always felt that the women around me would not put up with any garbage whatsoever, but at the same time at least it's not the case where every single one…

I believe we're conveniently leaving out that these groups are called fringe groups for a reason. And honestly, we should be coming together and standing against these groups, instead of just perpetuating the gender war further and putting original sin on men for being male, which is what the original comment seems to be doing (Men are suffering because they believe they're owed everything and can't function when not treated like kings so that's why they're left behind, for good reason). Sentime…

Or, men were just left behind when societal progress was made and no one really helped them rise together with women, because they were deemed as oppressors and in the eyes of people who have gone down the rabbit hole too far, oppressors have all the power and never ever suffer anything at all (And apparently are all just clones of each other). Actually, scratch that, it's a little worse than what I just described because people actually go out of their way to break men (Who probably haven't rea…

I was more talking about the dangerous jobs part, and military occupations. The common claim is that women want to be a part of those jobs, but men forced women out of those areas, which is just ehhh to me. I do get where you're coming from, it's tiring to hear that everything is somehow men's fault.

The usual reply from these types are that men forced women out of those spaces by not taking them seriously because they're women, or preyed on them until they left. I don't know how true that is, but I have my doubts.

You make an interesting point. I've also argued that women aren't oppressed per se, and then will get hundreds of angry pitchforks back and the classic "What about all the raping and killing and sexual assault women go through all the time?" before I get the chance to explain my statement. I've never answered in reply to those rage filled booby traps afterwards because no one will listen to me anyway, but my honest thought is that it... Doesn't really count as oppression, does it? They are godda…

"They critique traditional masculinity because traditional masculinity has been honed - culturally and biologically - for competition over millenia, and they don't want to compete with it." I recently had an encounter with someone who was particularly unpleasant, and I can pretty much imagine what the response to that from that person would be like: "Women don't want to compete with men? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA competing with men is the easiest thing in the world because WOMEN ARE BETTER AT F***KING …

I agree with most of this, the only thing is I would say that women do have to worry about their personal safety more when encountering strangers. But I also think that we can absolutely help women with that problem without devolving to garbage like kill all men or man vs bear. Essentially what I'm saying is 2 things can be true at the same time, as much as some people want to bury that truth, it doesn't change the facts.
