I don't get it, please explain?

I'm curious - why do you think public transportation is hard? Is it because there may be many people in close proximity around her to observe you hitting on her, which is intimidating? But on the other hand she is going to be stationary (either standing or sitting), which makes it easier to start a conversation versus having to stop someone walking somewhere. This is of interest to me because so far I've noticed for me that public transportation is the most reliable place to find hot girls.

That's great, thanks.

Why? Is it often the case that girls give out fake numbers / flake when called for the first time?

I think a better maxim is: Looks are far from everything. A worse looking guy will have to work harder than a better looking guy, but he can still get there.

Thanks for this. You're right - it is all about the vibe you have.

I agree that the act of the cold approach is very powerful in that it shows you have a lot of guts, and of course women value confidence above just about everything else. I don't know if that's enough to counter the 'desperation' vibe I'm feeling an approach creates, though.

I'd say walking up to a random stranger who didn't know you existed a minute before is socially unacceptable in that it is considered odd. To me, approaching strangers like that is only socially acceptable if done in an appropriate social venue like a bar, club, or party. Otherwise she has to be at least aware of your existence beforehand.

Thanks for responding. But, upon doing the cold approach, aren't you worried about the girl thinking something along the lines of: "Why is this person resorting to doing something so socially unacceptable? Does he have no other way to meet women that he must walk up to strangers in public? He must have no other options if he's doing something like this."

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
