What a catch!!! And it’s amazing that he did all that without you needing to ask him to. Would love to share a similar story about my HV partner too. A friend and I decided to trek out to a venue and wait outside for free access to an intimate concert for my fav music group. This was in November, it was cold and windy, and we had arrived at 5am and were gonnA be sitting outside on the pavement until 4pm when the doors opened. My bf (3 months dating at the time) text’d to ask how we were, and I s…

My ex-partner was notorious for either leaving his wallet at home, or “willing to go out for dinner“ and announce to everyone at the table that he’s not going to order dinner because he can’t afford it-leaving the burden on me to not look like bitch of a gf to let him starve, encourage him to order something, And foot the bill. So on the one day that he takes me out for dinner and Pays almost $150 for dinner, I was pleasantly surprised! When he was dropping me off at home, I also remembered that…

Holy fuckity fuck fuck, this is so cringey and a big fat reminder of my pickme days. This was 150% me all the way. Proudly cleaning up to show that I can take care of him and the place. I’m glad that’s all in the past.. but FUCK.

Omg. I have never actually thought about the meaning of the lyrics.. I liked the melody, his voice, and I hate to admit but only got as far as thinking “aww he’s telling dads not to mess up their daughters”. Oh god ... what a piece of shit

I’m glad he’s speaking up! It’s unfortunate that some people will start listening only because a MAN is delivering the message.

Oh god, I wish these were the red flags I picked up on while dating. I had someone who kept negging me, and it destroyed me a bit, and being a MAJOR PICKME, I kept trying to prove I was worthy. I told him my fav movie, And he said “meh, IMDB rates it as 7.8. I only watch movies that are 8+”. I bit my tongue and continued searching for movies 8+ to watch with him. I was trying to plan a 3-6 month trip through Europe, and he didn’t say anything about it except “WELL, when I lived in Budapest, ME M…

Dated someone who never paid for me, called me “sugar mama” a few times when I footed the Bill a few times. The one time he offered to buy me 2 pieces of truffle from a nice chocolate shop, he used $4 of loose change from his “family coin jar” so that he wouldn’t feel like he’s paying - he actually said this. When I dumped him and told him that while I didn’t expect him to buy me everything, he was cheap, he called me a gold digger. Go figure

We drove to the video store, which had a really tiny parking lot. He parked in handicap - but he’s not handicapped. An older man knocked on his window telling him that if he’s not handicap, to not park there because they needed the spot. This LVM had the balls to ask the person if they had a handicap permit. They said they did, and LVM continued to ask them to SHOW IT TO HIM, and gave them attitude for not having it clearly displayed, because they “put him in an uncomfortable position to ask for…

Probably heart broken that she wasted her energy on an LVM. Trauma from going through a bad relationship? With Leaving an LVM or any toxic relationship, there’s a whole flood of feelings and sometimes you can’t explain it. But better than being stuck without the lvm. When I left mine, I was happy and relieved, but I couldn’t stop sobbing the moment I realised he can’t harass me again. I was sad and heartbroken about what I went through but despite all that, I didn’t want him back at all. It was …

I get a test done annually as part of my routine health checkup, regardless of whether I’ve been sexually active or not. I didn’t do the FWB thing, and wasn’t seeing anyone. Had a dry spell of 3 years until I started seeing this guy. I asked him if he could get an STD test, and he got so offended. He said he had 1 long term girlfriend, therefore he didn’t need to be tested. He also questioned WHY I even needed to get tested so often, “must be bc I sleep with so many ppl, I needed to get checked …

You say that, but through the thread and post, you’re putting a lot more heat on this girl than on your friend. You’ve said way more about the girl than your friend. I cringe at the pickme I used to be, A lot of us have been pickmes. And I can say for certain I would have been the date sitting at your table. It is sad to see women bending over backwards for men when they don’t put in any effort. And I do wish that someone (or something) will show them the FDS ways so they can learn and realise t…

So I’ve always been used to taking the smaller or ugly pieces when it comes to serving my guests. That’s how my mom always served everyone, and I’ve always done it for the longest time. Except with my husband - he always makes sure that I get more food and the better/prettier pieces. I give him a large piece of meat - he will switch the plates. If there’s a bit leftover from dinner, he’ll always try to give it to me even though I try to give it to him. Sometimes I take it, sometimes we split - b…

Ohh I’m far far far away from him now. He was my first relationship, almost 17 years ago - holy cow, time flies. And joining FDS was such a big reality check - I reflected on all the bad relationships, all the signs that I should have picked up on. I never looked up these types of resources, and tbh at the time I thought “angry bf” is probably typical, take him for what he is, no one is perfect mindset. I’m totally kicking myself. I wish I took it upon myself to read up on how to be strong with …

Thank you! You made a great post. Esp since things can be so obvious to some ppl, and others might think “well he was my partner, and he said he’d take me home”. Unfortunately we need to always be on our guard!!

Holy shit yes. in hindsight it’s so obvious, but when you’re in the moment and rattled, you’re probably not thinking straight esp if your partner starts to act nice to just get you in the car. it needs to be said!! I tried to break up with my bf At a Park 5 minutes away from home, unfortunately he drove and it was dark. He was pretty unhinges, then calmed himself down and he said he’d drive me home so that “we can talk the next day after thinking”. Right when I got in his car, he zoomed in the o…

EWWWWW. I also hate how in most of these confessionals - majority of the comments are “kudos to you for owning up to it! Good for you! Good luck! You just need to find someone better! I’m glad you see the light, there’s only one way up from here!! “ The abuser gets fucking showered in positivity and giant pats on the back because he’s been hurt and they’re trying to lift him up. seriously WHAT THE HELL. Yasss! Hope it works out for you. Is he the type to need to see or confirm this type of thing? Rather than tying up money, or saving you time from cancelling for some big ticket items, you could just do sone online shopping and get his input. Then confirm and say that you’ll “place the order tonight”.

Yes, agreed! I’ve Seen some posts saying to stop posting about bad experiences as it doesn’t help, but I really think it does. There Def have been instances where I read a post, thinking “I don’t see anything wrong here...” only to see different viewpoints in the comments

All of us just stared, mouths open. He got embarrassed when I said WHAT?!?! He said oh, I was kidding. YOU can catch dinner on Friday night. I stupidly didn’t dump him. I knew what his dining habits were like and that in general, he would never pick an expensive restaurant. So he picked the priciest restaurant in the area, ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. When the waitress gave him the bill, he slid it over and said “well... we said you’d pay for this because I got the bill on Tuesd…

We were out for late night bites. I ordered $4 onion rings. He ordered a burger, fries and a drink. The server asked (in front of our friends) if we wanted the bill “together our separate”. I said together, he said separate - at the same time. When the bill arrived, I didn’t even blink and kept talking to our friends. 20 mins later, we were still the only ones who hadn’t settled the bill. He eventually paid, then tapped me on the shoulder to ask for money back. NO MORE LVM!!

You are right about the fact that 8 years of this is scary, and I didn’t see it that way until now. I lived in a different country for almost all the 8 years, so at the time I never thought that safety could be an issue since we were so far apart, and just saw this whole thing as comical up until this point. As for his wife, I feel bad because.. well, wouldn’t most people feel bad being the bearer of bad news? I do think she deserves to know, but I know I’m not responsible for his actions and th…

I was responding to the previous post who suggested for me to ask him why, and I was speculating what good would come from it even if I did. I’m not tempted to reply to him. Re: lack of boundaries, can you elaborate? Not trying to be snarky I promise, But I haven’t actually done anything ..

At the time, I thought it was amusing and was curious to see how long this ridiculousness would go on for. As time passed, I Also thought “I wonder what your gf would think if she saw this..”. And over time, it changed from gf to wife and kid. In The back of my mind, I would think “.. what if I showed this to his partner??” Now? I should probably block. But How bad is it that I kinda want to see how long he’s gonna beat this dead horse for....?

I know I haven’t blocked him, the whole time this was going on I thought it was amusing so left it and decided not to answer, since I didn’t really post much in FB anyway. Most I did was delete him, but I was pretty sure I had zero current Location-related things on My fb. I never publicly declared I was moving, my location is still my old hometown, I’ve never posted “yay look at what fun I’m having in my current city”! But I guess something must have slipped through cuz he knows now

I’m debating on whether to leave it alone, or contact her. Part of me would feel bad for telling her. Should I even bother asking him why, Cuz I know he’s just gonna have bullshit answers, which wouldn’t change the fact that he reached out 4 years later to an old hookup.

To clarify, we slept together but I felt grossed out by him after wards because he kept badgering me “when are you gonna come over, remember when we did Xyz” ... and kept reminding me that we had sex, very much a r/ihavesex mentality and was literally talking to me like just a sex toy. So I told him that i wasn’t doing that anymore, and why. And since then, he’s just been messaging , though I was dumb enough to reply twice He was single at the time, but started dating someone and got married in …

He ghosted me after 2 weeks, and I was actually worried about his well being. I thought I did something wrong to make him mad. Or that he fell into a bout of depression -and I needed to “save” him. Drove an hour to his parents house, where he was chilling in his room playing games. Was surprised to see me but had zero answers for why he ghosted me. In the end, he said he would call me, and I waited 3 months until he was ready for a booty call. Rinse and repeat for 3 years.

He lied to me about his name for 3 months, and I just kept telling my friends he’s just hilarious, and that I can’t blame him for not telling me his real name to a stranger (we met on a dating site).
