Seeing as how I was Chris 12 years ago, I can confirm this theory. I wanted to break up with my girl but didn't have the balls to do it. She wanted to fuck higher SMV guys but also wanted to keep me around for validation & emotional tamponing. I adapted the 5x5 method. I started with 5 sets of 5 reps, and, instead of increasing the weight on the bar (since there is no free-weight bar), I increased the number of reps by 1 each week. if you get to a point where you can't complete a set, stay at that number of reps until you complete the sets for the entire week, then add another rep for the next week and continue.
