Surgery is a lie. Men desire women based on genetics, and when you lie about how you look, those genetics are passed down to kids that will then be likely to receive your natural (possibly unattractive) features. What would it say to your kids if they find out that you thought a trait you gave to them was so unattractive that you had it surgically altered? I would be mortified. To me, it's no different than a man lying about how much money he makes. Then there's the factor of safety and botched …

You're making a LOT of claims that you have zero evidence to support here. One, there is nothing to say RP attracts men with BPD unless your sole evidence is Kanye West, who is literally just nuts and not RP.Secondly, there is zero evidence that mentally sound people aren't attracted to people with NPD or other personality disorders. That's actually completely inaccurate. People with these predatory disorders prey on normal people all the time, and absolutely get away with it because they're ext…

As far as finding common ground with them to make yourself feel more in-touch: talk about your interests. You're bound to have one in common, even if it's small. Did you play the same sport, like the same music, watch the same tv show, both enjoy a similar hobby? Find that thing and latch onto it, and it will likely help you feel less "othered".

Yes, I have been precisely in your shoes. I grew up wayyyy below the poverty line (like, homeless shelters/putting ramen back at the store poor) and my husband grew up in a relatively high end wealthy situation (maids, million dollar homes, etc). What helped me was understanding that even though someone may be wealthy, they still have problems, and those problems might even include money. Nobody is exempt from flaws. The only thing that determines worth is your character, not what is in your ban…

My husband thinks I am, and my psychiatrist thinks that it’s possible but doesn’t feel comfortable giving out a diagnosis yet. So I’m in a gray area there. However, even if I am, I don’t want to use that as a crutch for negative habits.

You are now actively ignoring facts being laid before you, taken from your own philosophy, which you clearly don't actually follow. I genuinely hope that you can learn to find some warmth in your life and that a man is willing to help you find it. Good luck and much love.

Marcus Aurelius cried when his tutor died, in court, for all to see. He was one of the greatest leaders of the Roman Empire, as well as a great stoic. Get your facts straight.

The stoics say that you should handle conflict with a sound, calm mind. Not to avoid conflict altogether. They accept it as a fact of life, and, in fact, embrace the discomfort that comes with it. If you do not learn to adapt to the fact that you will experience conflict in your relationship with a man, and learn to deal with that in way that does not make you come off like you are looking down on them for having emotions, you're going to end up alone. None of the stoics ever said that they woul…

laconic - I hate babbling and would like to not have to talk to a man much (like 50 words or less a day). I don't expect him to ask me about my day or any of that stupid stuff. This reads as "I don't like having to actually engage in a relationship, I just want another person there for the sake of them being there." People talk, that's how they develop bonds. It's fine that you're a woman of few words, but there comes a point where that becomes antisocial behavior. unemotional - this is the big …

What matters is what will make you happy: do you want to be a career woman, or do you want to be at home with the kids? If your goal is to be in a career until retirement age, then yeah, go for it. But if you don't want that, then you shouldn't spend the money. Look for a man that has the same values/goals/desires as you, otherwise that will be a rough marriage. If you get with a guy that expects you to have a great career, but that doesn't make you happy... That's gonna be a rough marriage, and…

If you're trying to find ambitious people: get a job/internship in a highly competitive workplace or join a high intensity gym. I could go on. I used to be really painfully shy too. Well... I still am. But what I, personally, do to make really engaging conversation with people is 1. ask them about themselves, and only talk about myself if asked. 2. when asking said questions, i don't ask the same old boring questions, (e.g. I'll ask "what do you do for a living?" and if they say "banker" instead of asking something like "oh, how long have you been doing that?" but the 1% of me just wonders if he would have wanted a ltr if I wasn't as conservative. Then your morals do not align, and he wasn't worth it anyway. Here's the thing about waiting until marriage: it was a rule that was invented for the purpose of weeding out men that could not provide or who did not want to commit, and it keeps you from becoming pregnant by a man that is not legally bound to care for you and that child. It still serves that purpose. If this rule is that important to you, then …

It’s easy to resort to dates to feel less alone because it’s so easy to get them online. This is a big part of your problem. Online dating is for sex. People do not like to say that out loud, but it's true. Ditch it. The best thing you could do to build some community and maybe meet someone is get into a group hobby. Join a hiking group, do a dance class, join groups at church (if that's your thing), get into a cycling group, etc. If you start out by having a thing in common, you will have an ea…

Part of being a high value man is that they don't run from commitment at almost thirty... The dude is a player. That's fine for him, and I'm sure it was fun short term because those types tend to make you feel amazing so that you'll sleep with them, but over time that kind of personality starts to deteriorate. He likely did not want to stay because you weren't sleeping with him, not because of the age gap. He was not as good as you think he was. You will absolutely find someone better than him.

I will say that the effects of BC on women can vary depending on the reason you are using it. I have a very high level of testosterone, and I actually start to feel more feminine when I'm on it. My attraction to men doesn't change at all. I think BC is best used for this purpose, personally. I think it's probably least detrimental to those with existing hormone imbalances.

You are living under a dictator, not a husband. Good men are inherently selfless. Jocko Willink talks a lot about his time in the Navy SEALS, and often discusses how some surprising types of men got through the grueling training program (due to size or stature, or whatever) and how "tough guys" quit on the first day. He said that the main difference was that the ones who made it through focused on helping the person next to them, as opposed to themselves. That is what separates the good from the…

I just don’t know how when he messes up to step back and not fix it. How do you ever expect for things to get done then? You are infantilizing him, acting as if he is incapable of fending for himself. He is fully grown man with more than enough capability to do whatever the hell he needs to do. But he has no need to do anything if you just do it for him. You are mothering him.

To me, it sounds like you don't know how to step back and let someone take care of you. You don't need to drive around like an idiot, putting other people at risk as well as yourself, just because you want someone else to do things for once. Have you talked to him about this at all? Does he know you feel this way? And I don't mean "did you allude this in passing?". I mean did you sit down and really talk about this? Have you tried letting him do things for once? Instead of taking the reigns on e…

My husband grew up wealthy and very sheltered. He didn’t even know that secular entertainment existed until his teens. Like, had never even heard of it. He had maids and million dollar homes. Trust me when I say that no matter how sheltered the kid, they still have their own brand of problems to overcome, and have plenty of opportunities to develop masculine traits. Keep yourself in a calorie deficit until you reach your goal. A 2,000 calorie diet will maintain whatever weight you are at, so I suggest a 1,000 calorie diet while you are actively trying to get rid of fat. Then return to a 2,000 calorie intake. Be flexible with your weight goal. Weight can be made of muscle or fat, and so if you're doing strength training, then you could be putting on muscle weight. That's perfectly fine, so don't beat yourself up if you're not target weight; pay more attentio…

It's not ignoring, it's accepting. There is a difference. Either you can accept that your husband is completely different person than you, and capable of making his own personal choices regardless of your opinion; or you shouldn't have gotten with someone that you know has a quality you deem unacceptable. Human beings are fickle, and you cannot expect them to change because of outside pressure. It does not work that way. Getting with someone that you expect a specific change from is a really bad…

Data show the negative consequences of third-hand smoke. I never said it didn't have health effects, I said they appear to have a pretty low chance of having effects, which is true. Does third hand smoke potentially cause issues in infants? Yes. Are those effects common? No. People cherry pick issues that they care about and ignore the ones that matter equally if not more, like the fact that the number one cause of death for kids is homicide. Statistically, nobody should be allowing their kids o…

I have a similar experience with my husband, so I'll let you know what I did. We both smoked when we met, and we both actually did quit. But, my husband now has a cigarette every couple weeks or so instead of every day. Now, being a previous smoker, I know that this is a slippery slope. I disagree, I think that all of those qualities he listed are perfectly attainable. Sure, there are compromises that have to be made, but there should always be the expectation that both people are always trying their best for each other. Compromise comes when there is no other option, not when you just don't feel like improving.

I agree with u/Protocol_Apollo that you should probably stop hormonal birth control and look into a copper IUD. They last for ten years, you can take it out and conceive anytime you want without a hormone hangover, and you don't have to worry about taking a pill or anything. If that doesn't work, I would suggest getting your hormone levels tested to make sure they're normal. However, to address the awkward/inexperienced factor: it's easy to get in your head when you're new to sex, and that can m…

Pretty much, yeah. The only thing we really have in common is the belief that men and women play different roles in relationships, but RP men tend to focus on short-term relationships or flings, and RP women tend to focus on long term relationships and marriage. Male RP is full of bitter, angry guys that have been "wronged" by women. A lot of them have been through some pretty nasty divorces and probably need a space to vent their issues. Most of us here want nothing to do with men like that.

Joshua Weissman makes some absolutely great videos on YouTube going over basics and more. Personally, I eat 95% meat, so my go-to is red meat. Very little time to prepare, lots of control over flavor with marinades and seasonings, and very fun to learn about different cook techniques. They have a lot of good advice for steaks in r/steak. I also eat a lot of organ meat (heart, liver, tripe, kidney, etc) and those are great because they're super nutritious and cheap, so I like those a lot.

What really helps patches like this is physical touch, at least for my husband and I. It creates the sense that this is not just another person in your life that you need to tolerate. It doesn't need to be super affectionate or intimate, but touching his back when you pass by, giving him a short hug when he's standing somewhere doing something, giving him some back scratches in bed. I think that, above all, this warrants discussion of how to spot fallacies/idea exploitations when we see them. So I have a question: for those of us who could not afford a degree, but still are very capable of intelligent discussion on high brow topics and still have accomplishments (like publishing a book), does that help?

My advice for meeting people would be to join a group that has a shared interest, like a hiking group or a book club, just something casual that will attract healthy, intelligent people.
