The reason the book is powerful is the effects of learning to be present. You can't understand being present untill you experience it, self improvement books are about the action you take after you read them. Everyone usually sucks at meditation before they've done it. If I was in your position I'd try it.

I'd say when you start out it's hard to really have confidence when you've had no big successes.
