That's the entire point of faking it 'til you make it. Even if it is a farce, the ends justify the means. You want to portray yourself in a light that makes others think you've got brass balls. In his particular case, the advantage of having so much power avails him of this highly alpha demeanor.

Whether it's authentic or in fact a farce, others on the receiving end are none the wiser.

I find it sad that this is being held up as "alpha." His ability to come off all commanding is entirely a result of the fact that he could murder those men with impunity.

Imagine if one of the other men sitting at the table was speaking in the same manner as putin. Would he be alpha? No, he'd be a fool.

Autocracy isn't the same thing as alpha. If people respect you because they fear violence, it isn't something to be impressed by.

Putin can certainly kill his enemies. But that tactic, even to a king, has limits, and would limit his own reign. To me he is a student of character, a master of manipulation, and fearless. The oligarchs fear him and they rightly sshould, he is two steps ahead of them all. As for Putin wanting to destroy the world in a war, that's preposterous. He wants a world he can rule over, not destroy. He wants power, not blood. Blood is too inefficient a tool for his ends. Good guy, bad guy? Who knows. A leader for sure.

I don't admire Putin from a political standpoint, but it's hard not to admire him from a masculinity standpoint. Have you all heard about what happened when Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots football team, visited the Kremlin not too long ago? Putin asked to look at his Super Bowl ring. Kraft took it off his finger and handed it to Putin. Putin looked at it, slipped it in his pocket, and walked away. I think the ring wound up being displayed in a Russian museum somewhere.

Putin is so gangsta. Definitely an alpha male.

Vlad can do these these things not because he's charismatic or likeable or even has good leadership qualities, but because they fear his anger. Why do they fear his anger? Because he weilds his dictatorial power like a club. If you want a parallel, see the Kim Jongs or some other tin-pot dictator, Vlad is a kid with an ant farm and a magnifying glass, he can send rough men in the night to do bad things to you. The only reason he is described as 'Alpha' is because he sees Obama as the quisling that he is and that he is in decent physical shape and to be honest neither of those things are difficult. If he was as fat as his dictator contemporaries nobody would admire him.

How do you think he came to power? How do you think he became the paramount autocrat of Russia? It wasn't through title or being born into it, but because he does have good leadership qualities, and because he is strong and inspires people. He does not take shit from anyone. The Americans told him not to go into Crimea, he went in. They tried to put sanctions, he literally did not give a shit. He does what he wants, even though his military power is far lesser. He is a boss.

Actually fine particles is correct - its easy to be the boss when you can kill your opponents with impunity. Putin's rise to power was shadowed by assassinations of his enemies - its no surprise that the kgb and its modern equivalent is his power base.

That being said, Putin is the most alpha of all of the world leaders - which is a better comparison you should be looking at - not him vs a bunch of pencil pushers in a room

Many of the self made billionaires in Russia simply utilized party connections to buy state property at pennies to the dollar - if that. In essence, they didnt make a billion dollars, but merely changed the decimal spot on the balance sheet

There is a big difference between respect and fear. The man generates neither from me, only fear from Russian oligarchs, and respect only from the deluded. Loyalty cannot be generated through fear, such alliances are flimsy and unreliable, as soon as Vlad has an opening someone will be there to stick a knife of bullet in it. That is no way to live or lead, at least not for very long. It's alpha in the same way as a dog shock collar.

Vlad looks alpha by comparison, only because his opponents are hand-wringing eunuchs and he picks his fights JUST small enough to keep from generating real anger response. He is a thug, and history will remember him as such.
