This isn’t a disagreement per se but there is a lot of advise on following your gut feeling. I can only speak for myself but my gut feeling is kind of whack from years of mistreatment by lvm. I’m starting therapy soon but I understand that that’s not a viable option for everyone. You should never ignore a red flag, but not every behaviour that sparks a negative emotional response is a red flag. Sometimes that initial response is triggered by trauma. Taking a step back and evaluating the situatio…

I think you should thank your lucky stars that he was reckless enough to be honest with you. Most men would keep that truth to themselves, only to have it seep out like poison, gaslighting you into thinking you're the problem. Saved you months or years of pain and confusion, good riddance

Honestly from her response I’m pretty sure this was a final straw kind of break up. He sounds insufferable. Did I get it right that his own family/mother ratted him out too? I’d say him getting kicked out was long overdue

I really appreciate your kind words. It's comforting to think that I at least subconsciously might have picked up on a major dissonance in compatibility before he had actually told me his opinion on the subject. It does hurt. It'll pass though, it always does.

Thank you. I honestly worry about that too, but how do I even end it if I can't talk to him? We live in a small city, I know I'll feel terrified to run into him if I were to just collect my things and not speak to him. I don't want that tension and confusion.

I won't, I couldn't live with the shame if I did. How did you do it? How did you steer clear of further conversation, how did you tell him that you wanted to end things without getting into all the details?

I think you're a bit harsh, but not really wrong. In all honesty though, I don't think he's clever enough to do this out of manipulation. I don't think he's enjoying it, I think he truly believes that I'm the aggressor. His messages are very telling, they're basically a stream of consciousness. Confusing and hurtful but not intelligent. But you're right that I'm having trouble accepting that it's over. It still doesn't even feel real. I'm trying very hard to accept that he walked out even though…

This made me really emotional. It’s exactly like that, all of it. Thank you so much for putting feelings I’ve had for years into writing so that I have a chance to begin to understand them. Ive never even heard of fawning. I have severe separation anxiety. Absolutely paralysing fear of abandonment. I can normally hold my ground and delay those feelings until I’m alone but this time I caved completely. Like there was nothing left I could have said or done to convince him to stay with me. And it d…

He does have the most brilliant intuition I've ever experienced. He would predict my emotions and reactions before I'd even had them, in any occasion. I'm really not looking forward to not having that in my life anymore.

Thank you. I obviously shouldn't have begged. There are a lot of things I shouldn't have done. By then we had been arguing for almost 6 hours and I had completely lost my head, it wasn't a choice anymore really. In all honesty I don't even regret it. It showed me that in my deepest and most severe anxiety, fear and pain he couldn't or wouldn't be there for me.

I needed to hear all of this, thank you so much for taking the time to write it. Also yes. Throughout our relationship he has expressed the opinion that I don't explore his feelings or where he's coming from when we discuss certain topics. It's been a major if not the main cause of disagreement in our relationship, and I don't even think it's true. I've always been interested in what's on his mind, just not when he's currently overstepping my boundaries. Him leaving when I was at my most vulnera…

Honestly, out of all of it, this is the thing that hurts the most. He left me when I needed him the most. I was desperate and he rejected me.

Thank you. I take pride in my assertiveness too and I'm starting to realise that he's been praising me all this time for being the way I am, but any time those qualities didn't align with his own opinions there would be some sort of tension or even a fight.

I felt this in my soul. Thinking back I believe I can see a pattern. It's not very obvious but it's there, especially the recurring honeymoon periods that always seem to follow any major fights. This whole thing is doing my head in.

Seriously? This mentality is the foundation that all man babies rely on. If you can’t keep an appointment in mind for 20 minutes then maybe you should invest in a stack of post it’s.

Oh for sure, I’ve done it a hundred times at my old place, problem is we’re not allowed to here. Something about water leaks! Not my fault that the maintenance guy failed to show though 🤭

Merciless. Would like to add calling a man (or any part of a man really) cute or adorable. Tends to send them into existential crisis 😰

Yes! Someone had to say it. This man is sick in the head and needs to be institutionalized. This whole post left my mind completely blank, it's like I can't even process wtf I just read.

I mean. 22 women (on average) are killed daily in Russia so I wouldn’t necessarily say that this statement is false either. One woman saved does not cancel the fact that Russia is a terrible place for women and children.

Beautifully put. We don’t hate men, we love them so much that we have put our own needs wants and desires aside to accommodate theirs since the beginning of time. We have stuck by the men who use and abuse us. Some of us have decided that we don’t want to do that anymore.

Oh you absolutely wouldn’t be isolated, especially if you choose to live in a larger city. Everyone speaks English! And many businesses (mainly in IT) are international and has English as the first/main language at the workplace. I’ve worked at two different firms where everyone spoke English. All the software is in English and people come from all over. Women are also lacking in this specific line of work and are therefore highly sought after 🤷‍♀️

Just want to throw it in there that you’d do well living in Scandinavia too being English speaking. My next door neighbours are British! I’ve lived in Australia and the UK and the Nordic counties are way ahead of the rest of the world in terms of equality and female empowerment. We’d love to have you!

"Age is just a number" is also failing to acknowledge that, should the relationship persevere, at some point it will transform from a partnership to a caregiving situation. Do you really want to spend your early retirement being a nurse to your ancient husband? I think not!

It’s such a shame cause I really did enjoy it up until the attempted rape scene. Michelle Dockery is such a talented actress and I’m sad she agreed to this role.

Yes I’m very much tired of it. This article describes my feelings watching the Gentlemen to a t: I want to love the Gentlemen but the Gentlemen doesn’t love me

Yeah the more I think about it the more this seems to be the reason behind his change in attitude. I don’t think he came with the intent to break it off or he wouldn’t have told me about his child. From what I can remember from last night it went pretty much downhill from this point. Oh well, I’m too young to be a step mom anyway

Thank you! I read your reply last night and felt encouraged. I was in quite a state when I got home because well of course it hurts to be not only rejected but insulted too. Today’s a new day though, good riddance to anyone and everyone who can’t handle a woman with a strong sense of self.

That was weird too. Obviously I said that this changes the dynamic of things simply because the child always comes first and I understand and encourage that. He didn’t like that and tried to argue that he’s allowed to put other people first too. I told him in no uncertain terms that I have zero respect for men who put lovers before their own children edit: I think this is where he switched on me actually. Maybe I said the wrong things about this whole kid situation.

Thanks. I was starting to feel bad about not standing up for myself but I sort of did stand up for myself by not accommodating his ego in the first place And I agree about the child, I would never date a man with a kid but I was going to let him down easy. Guess he saved me that conversation!

I’m testing out this very method right now! Recently got out of a long term relationship and now I’m seeing 3 different men. Honestly though my terrible memory keeps putting me in awkward situations. I can’t keep track of what I’ve told which person to save my life 😂

It’s not just a lack of media coverage, it’s rather that there is no official confirmation that it actually happened. There are also questions about the underlying motives of this story https://reason.com/2017/02/09/hero-flight-attendants-for-ice/?utm_content=bufferb17a3&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
