I agree. Frankly, I don't think the woman should have the child in the first place, nor should she be allowed to but forcing abortions is not really a place I want to go. So yeah, unless the father chooses to help support the child, I think it's on the mother to do so and if she can't support the child without state assistance, the child is put up for adoption. How fucked up is that?

You really believe that that’s fair to the victim? Not at all, but I also don't think it should be a burden on the taxpayers of the state she would be applying for assistance in. I sort of agree that maybe the child should be taken from the mother but it's a fucked up situation all around and I think the child of the rape gets it the worst.

Maybe? Adopted and/or foster children generally do worse in life than children who stay with their biological mother (ones who engage in statutory rape I'm not sure of) so it seems like another punishment for the child. Cases like this are rare though, so it's not like it would affect a lot of children. If it were known that a woman who conceives a child through her raping someone, man or child, does not get to keep any child of pregnancy from that rape, that might be a deterrent.

Here are my thoughts on this: While it's seriously fucked up to go after child support from the victim of a rape, should the state (the taxpayers) have to foot the bill for this child if the mother is in need? If the answer is no, it seems unfair to punish the child for the actions of the mother. Unless we push for abortion in cases of rape unilaterally, we will have cases like this: unfair for the victim of rape if he has to pay, and unfair to the taxpayers if they have to pay. It's a fucked up…

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/12423-alopecia-areata Hair loss in women is not medically serious and other than the potentially temporary hair-loss, has no affect on a person's physical well-being. Jada is not a sick person, at least not from this condition.

To add to this, WS is worth a lot more than his wife and has been married for going on 25 years. This man will lose half of all his money and belongings, and would probably be paying Jada for the rest of his/her life.

We can add student debt to the pink tax and the gender wage gap as another example that if a feminist can't find proof of oppression, they will claim they are oppressed by their own choices.

So, the best you can come up with is a 230 year-old book written by a woman who was arguing for more education for women. I'm not going to read the thing, so if you can point to a passage in the book where MWS argues that women should face the same hardships as men or that they should be eased, you haven't given me anything but the "No True Scotsman" argument, and it doesn't prove anything. I dont care for random political movements that obviously have their own agendas. Though I voted Yes I would never get married again, and I don't recommend it. Both my exes took my name without me asking them to and then bitched about it after the divorce. Seriously, don't get married, guys. You are marrying her and the state, and the state don't care. If you absolutely have to, make sure she makes more than you and continues to during the marriage. I was about to say this was a rare example of The Guardian writing an article that didn't follow the feminist screed of demonizing men and was even sympathetic to men until I noticed it was 10 years old. Still, credit where credit is due. Until we change society's idea that men are inherently perpetrators and women are inherently victims, men's sexuality is going to be seen as predatory and something to be feared and shamed.

People in power want to keep their power. That's not tinfoil hat, that's de rigueur and has been since our ancestors picked up the first sharp stick. Unfortunately, it's easy to keep us divided by gender, race, country, class, hair color, etc, etc, as we are still just tribalist apes with big brains. Strange. Rape convictions drop right around the time Alison Saunders let her contract lapse. She was under some scrutiny as several rape cases were thrown out because evidence was being withheld by the prosecution. Boys do better in all boys schools Do they? I would argue they do. Classes would/should be designed to keep boys more engaged and interested i.e. more interactive learning, more hands-on, and more competition. Also, there wouldn't/shouldn't be any gender bias in grading that goes on in coed learning environments. https://www.tes.com/news/teacher-stereotyping-means-higher-marks-girls-says-oecd.

Isn’t it something like men are more likely to be raped by another man than be falsely accused... Men are more likely to get raped in prison. That's where the term "rape culture" was coined. As far as whether that's more likely than to get falsely accused of rape by a woman, it's a huge gray area.

Thanks. About the only entitlement I see is coming from this woman. Her asking about rights as a woman employee certainly smacks of asking for special treatment. Also, her use of the word "creepy" to describe men (or old men) is just odd. What's creepy about a guy asking you to try on a jacket as you are the same size as the person he wants to buy it for? Would she say Chris Hemsworth was "creepy" if he did the same? Or would it be okay for him to ask as he's younger and attractive? (And a succe…

How is any of this entitlement? It would be nice to see, but until we get rid of the legalized bribery influence of corporate and private donations that our elected officials require to get elected and stay elected, that will never happen. Academically, I wonder how it would play out if it did come to a vote.

https://www.constitutionfacts.com/us-constitution-amendments/proposed-amendments/ Oops, I got the year wrong. According to this it was 1916. Never made it through either House or Senate. There was another in 1936 apparently, but it wouldn't have made aye votes sign up or go to war.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/01/21 08:51 PM

I don't feel like there should be a draft for men or women. Back in 1936 an amendment was proposed that wanted to implement a national vote to decide if we as a nation would go to war, and whoever voted aye was automatically volunteered to go. Not sure if it included our representatives or not, but I would have supported it.

Strangely enough, using the term toxic masculinity is displaying toxic femininity, as it shifts blame to the man and removes accountability of the woman. But try getting people like these to grasp that.

This could be an unfair assessment of the situation. His wife was there at the beginning and worked at the company for years during the startup. I feel that both terms are ultimately divisive. Both men and women share the same traits, just to different degrees. Women can be controlling and violent as well, so to say these are only traits that men can go too far with i.e. "toxic masculinity", is feminists trying to make it something only men can do. "Internalized misogyny" implies that misogyny is so deeply set in our culture and society that women just kind of absorb it subliminally. Are there certain societal expectations based on gende…

And that "raped every 7 minutes"? That should be "a man is accused of rape every 7 minutes". The actual conviction rate is around 1500, if my online search skills are working. It's horrible that this young woman died. You should never blame the victim for something out of their control, but the world is not entirely safe and probably never will be. No matter how many laws are passed or safeguards put in place, bad people are going to find a way to do bad things, and it's everyone's personal responsibility to at least try to avoid them. I know this sucks and is unfair but it just is.

I keep trying to come up with a way to deal with situations like these but they all would be counterproductive and draconian in the long run. Unless the mother has the resources to raise the child on her own, then she becomes a burden on the system and everyone in the country has to pay for the child, and that's not fair to everyone else. The best idea I can come up with is run a paternity test on all children when they are born. They are ~$100 if you do it yourself, although I'm sure a hospital…

I've never understood this argument against gender-neutral laws coming from feminists and feminist groups. If their argument against gender-neutral laws is because women don't or rarely commit the crime being discussed, then women won't or will rarely be affected by it, depending upon the proportion of women who commit the crime. The only logical reason feminists would be against a gender-neutral law is because they don't want women to be held to the same accountability as men. "If you don't do …

Each court uses a formula comparing income and custody between the two at the time of divorce and set the payments from that. It is up to the court whether payments will be lowered in cases like mine, but there is no guarantee they will lower them if they think you can make more $. Something called 'potential earning'. Actually, we are about 51% women in our population, about the same as yours but genders reversed. The vast majority of horror movies have this trope:'if they just listened to X, this wouldn't have happened'. The Alien franchise survives on people not following protocol, i.e. breathing alien air without testing it, and taking a 'petting zoo' approach to xenomorphs they encounter. You could argue it the other way, that she was an inhuman bitch that was going to let a crewmember die in quarantine. Conviction quotas are probably the closest thing to evil I can think of. Ok, I'm sort of exaggerating. But if you put pressure on the prosecution that they MUST win or may face punishment, you will get a prosecution that will cut corners and break rules to avoid that punishment. INNOCENT people can, will, and have gone to prison when the prosecution holds a "win at all costs" attitude, as we saw with this waste-of-skin Alison Saunders' edicts.

Its like that catcalling law they passed in a town in England. Just for men. When asked why, the author stated women hardly ever catcall. Well, if they hardly ever do it, then the law will hardly ever affect them, but still should apply. Who knew the legality of a thing hinged on the frequency of use by gender?

That's probably the main reason why most people have a problem with feminism. Even at the beginning of the feminist movement, they have been asking for 'privileges' that men had, without the corresponding responsibilities that men had. I disagree with you, sir. It has all the markings of a religion: a deeply-held belief system based on unproven yet unassailable tenets (patriarchy, rape culture, systemic oppression) that are taken on faith and treated as dogma. And just like many religions, feminism brooks no dissension in the ranks and will actively suppress it. While I might agree with you that similar religious beliefs among a group of people could definitely help create a society, societies are created by like-minded people…

It's a valid question, though. Where is the motivation to work harder when the courts will force one parent to pay the other regardless of whether they are working full-time or not? I had a similar experience. When my ex and I divorced, she had a part-time, seasonal job(school bus driver). I was ordered to pay her alimony and child support for our daughter. We had shared custody, my daughter with me one week, her mom the next. A few years later, I got laid off from my job and couldn't pay her. M…

That Atlantic article you referenced " generally tends to overestimate. "Normal" people are sexually attracted to sexually mature-looking people. There are 14 year-olds of both sexes that can look like they are 8 or 24. If I saw a woman that had all the signs of sexual maturity (breasts, hips, etc) wearing adult clothing and makeup and she was attractive, I would find that appealing. Someone else on this sub suggested a "No means No" law, and by that I mean anyone who does not want to have sex with someone must make it known to the other person verbally and in no uncertain terms that they do NOT want to have sex. Right? I might have changed a male feminist's mind about the "wage" gap when I asked him why he even had a job over any woman if his employer could actually get away with paying a woman less for the same work. So they are using polling data to come up with the numbers? How was the data collected? How did they ask the questions? What questions were asked? How many of those rape claims are false? How many of those would be disputed by the "rapist"? I could claim I've been raped, and I would be added to the numbers. What one can claim without evidence, one can reject without evidence. And evidence is what is needed for the police to pursue rapists and convict them.

I'm curious how they came up with the "1 in 5" number. Even with the FBI's 2013 revised definition of rape increasing the number of rapes per year, there were 135K rape convictions in 2017, which breaks out to 41.7 per 100,000. Even if a woman lived to be 100, her chance of being raped in her lifetime is less than 4.2%, at that rate. And I'm not sure, but I think the revised definition now includes men? I've only ever read about emotional labor in women's comments (complaints?) about how they had to be sympathetic to their BF's/husbands emotional needs and how it was draining and they should be compensated. Of course, the hypocrisy being that men do that for their GF's/wives and no mention of it. I did not realize it was actually an employment term until you said that and I wiki'ed it.

I love how the assumption is that the women are also still doing most of the housework, etc. Don't get me wrong, they may very well be doing so, but I just love how they will add that sans proof, or any mention of what the man's work hours are/ what else he might be doing to support the household, and so on so forth. And don't forget that old chestnut: emotional labor. That one really kills me. Supporting your S.O. with understanding and sympathy is the worst. \s

And how are they supposed to do that? Kick her in the belly? Force a miscarriage? Last I read, that's illegal in Canada. Assaulting a pregnant woman and forcing a miscarriage may not carry the same legal penalties as the murder of an infant, but good luck getting a job or keeping friends and family after doing something like that. Personally, I think attacking a pregnant woman is more reprehensible than rape, unless it's in self-defense.

I agree that certain things can be more difficult for the poor. However, this bill does increase the amount of resources now required to obtain an abortion, which will proportionately affect people with fewer resources more.

She's not wrong about this bill affecting poor women more than others. Kinda hard to drive to another state to have an abortion if you don't have gas money or a car to put gas in. But I doubt the bill was passed just to keep poor women down.

/r/MensRights28/03/19 07:22 PM

To be fair, a committed relationship between two people who love and respect each other can be a great thing. Getting married is just inviting whatever state you live in to decide who gets what, if and when you get divorced. Other than a tax credit and the ability to add your spouse on a family health insurance plan, marriage is absolutely not worth it for a man.

The hypocrisy is mind-blowing. When asked what they find attractive in men, women often mention what a particular man is wearing, or a muscular set of forearms, or when a man pulls his shirt off. That's not objectifying at all. /s. We all, men and women, objectify each other when only visual clues are available. Being a gynocentric world tho, it only matters how women feel about it.

Actually, she did say that cutting off the clitoris was equivalent to cutting off the penis. And while the clitoris is a huge part of female arousal, I would argue that it's not the only erogenous zone for women. And you can still bear children without one. /r/MensRights13/06/18 05:28 PM
2

She's not wrong. For example, many feminists believe that the dearth of women in say, executive positions in business is due to sexism, without looking into whether a proportionate number of qualified women are even attempting to get these jobs. So they would rather instill a quota system or even change the laws to get more women in these positions, rather than actually do the work required. Which basically is them saying "let us join the team, whether we are qualified or not."
/r/MensRights13/06/18 05:10 PM

And, for most guys she's preaching to the choir. Most men already know any woman can claim we treated them wrong and men (often in uniform with guns) will come and take us away against our will, at the very least. I agree. Well, it's simple really. The "wage" gap is merely comparing all income for all men vs. all income for all women. Really, it should be called an "earnings" gap as it has little to do with wages. If you drill into the numbers you find that women earn less than men mainly because, in general, they work fewer hours, take more time off, and choose lower paying jobs overall.
/r/MensRights18/05/18 11:18 PM

In general, yes. For example, if you take away the facts that women in general work fewer hours, take more time off, and choose jobs and careers that pay less there isn't much left to explain the gender wage gap.
