“'Hogwash,' says Charles J. Wysocki, a behavioral neuroscientist and member of the Monell Chemical Senses Center, a nonprofit, independent research center in Philadelphia. He maintains that humans don’t have a functioning vomeronasal organ. The few studies of androstadienone that do show an effect have been small and poorly designed, and use concentrations of the compound that are as much as a million times higher than what occurs naturally. And women might have higher natural levels of androsta…

you will need industrial strength pheromones to get a leg up - and they don't sell industrial strength pheromones anywhere. what you will buy, if you buy, is placebo. don't waste your money. get a haircut instead, it will have the same effect.

the title of your post inspired me to take my bicycle out for the first time in two years. congratulations on your success, good sir.

didn't he also shave half his head and walked around looking like a moron to get used to people staring at him?

heh, it's a curse. i've got some clean singing mixed with the growling (like... like Textures link to their song Awake, Dark Tranquillity) and no matter how many times i've written the lyrics, heard the recording of them, painted little pictures on the lyrics sheet, i mess up at least once per gig. i've rewritten songs on the fly, like ohshitwhatrhymeswith'cradle' I TURN MY LAAAAADLE and then it's all about closing my eyes and getting through to the chorus. at least when i mess up growls i can j…

it's the lyrics. remembering all those lyrics is what makes us nervous. i miss lines all the time but we play death metal so no one knows if there are any real lyrics to our songs. the pointing out small hiccups things, that can be annoying as all hell. i usually counter with "YES BUT REMEMBER THAT REALLY COOL THING THAT HAPPENED SECONDS LATER??" to get the pointer out of his/her state. like, overpower them with positive energy. i mean, shit annoys me too, like when i mess up lyrics or when the …

effin' drummers! our drummer is also bloody hyped up minutes before a gig, while i'm in a little cocoon of fear and nerves...

the good thing, at least for me, is that the AA doesn't come before approaching a girl after a gig. i get AA before getting on stage instead. but i only get on stage once. after that i'm hopped up on adrenaline and, later, alcohol. i remember once, a dude came up to me after a gig, he looked like danny trejo and he offered to buy me a beer. "woah" i said "i don't swing that way!" as a joke. if i hadn't been in such a state i probably would have gotten knocked out.

i hear ya! it's tough after a gig, you want to get out there and get some feedback from the audience, but you also would like a shower. (i get nervous before the show, so my sweat is not only from the gig itself, but also cold nervous sweat. pungent.) as frontman of my band i have an easier time with the AA, though. i get compliments and attention after a gig even when we play like dung beetles simply because i was center stage. it also helps that we haven't recorded much and no one knows what o…

when i moved out to live and fend for myself in the urban jungle, my mom bought me a cookbook. it's 500 pages of recipes and instructions and information about food, ranging from basic to advanced. no, i won't give you the name of the book, it's not in english, but i am sure there are cookbooks for beginners where you live.

i second the "want to practice their english" sentence. but you can also tell when they hear their own voices and it doesn't sound like in the movies. that's when they want to switch to their own language. i think giving them some encouragement "oy, your english is really good" is the way to go.

ah. my bad. I won't give it to my kids. i will give it to the mother of my kids who and it is terribly likely she'll give it to my kids "during the vaginal delivery". it's not really terribly likely, but it feels like it is. just scroll down this page for more info.

i got it a few years ago. but we fucked like bunnies and i didn't know she had given it to me, i thought i was just sore from all the horizontal salsa we'd been doing. i didn't have another outbreak until a year later when i met another girl. went to the doctor, got tested, got the results. took a dive into the murkiest depths of my own head, where shame "I have an std" and mortality "it's for life" and "i will pass it on to any future kids i might have" just dragged me to the bottom. then i had…

well, lets say your friends have an apartment and maybe there's a little bit of music and maybe some alcoholic beverages. they're just casual private parties.

i've had sex with lots of swedish women. mainly because i live in sweden. they are just as complicated as women in any other country. you have to be fun and relaxed and charming, just as you would where you live. the language will not be a barrier, swedes study english from age 8 to 18, but try not to use too complicated words. it can make the ladies apprehensive. i have found that swedes almost always jump at the opportunity to speak english, since they don't get to do it very often. the swedis…

it can be, the first time you try it. but then, when you notice that the heavens didn't land on your head and the earth didn't open up and swallow you, it gets easier.

how are you with speaking in front of an audience? do you like getting up in front of co-workers or fellow students? i bet you don't. and you're not alone. we fear public speaking more than we fear death. i've been on stage since i was seven years old. i'm in my thirties now. i've sung in bands, i've acted in theatre and film. i always forget lyrics, i fuck up takes.. i do all of that. but since i've done that so many times i've found out that messing up does not make the ground open up and swal…

i'm in a similar situation with my wingman: he drinks too much when we're sarging. i'm all for a little bit a of liquid courage, but it can go overboard way too fast. i've watched him draped over the bar while trying to approach ladies. i wonder why it never works... and that is why i set goals for the evening. like, open X number of sets, or hi5 or fistbump X number of ladies, or get X number of hugs.. or whatever. that way i can keep focus. because it's not about going out and getting hammered…

well, you are the one who should be making progress, so pushing yourself a little won't hurt you. like a muscle, the last few reps are the most beneficial. the best way to get over approach anxiety, or any anxiety, is to do it loads of times. then you know how it feels and what to expect. the heavens will not fall on your head, the earth will not open up and swallow you. i've been on stage many times, and i am a right mess the last few minutes leading up to walking on stage. i imagine my knees w…

the eyepatch. i know a guy who got stung by a bee and had to wear a patch for a year. he had this rockabilly look, with the hair and the sideburns and a patch and a fricken gold tooth. (plus, his last name was Wolf.) needless to say, he got laid. a lot.

hmm, i'm starting to wonder if you are in fact the guy i went sarging with saturday. his name wasn't mike, though. he managed one drunken approach at the end of the night and got violently shot down. i'll give you the same advice as i keep giving him: baby steps. think long term. you're not in a hurry, it doesn't have to be perfect the first night out. next time, aim to introduce yourself to 10 sets. that's all you have to do, go up to 10 women/groups and say hello. you don't have to do more tha…

i always use a canned opener. right now it's the what-size-sweater routine. i feel that opening with "hey i need your opinions on something. me and my friends over there have been debating over-" shows that i have just talked about the subject and that's why it comes off as a bit rehearsed. i mean, if i talk about a sports team during the off season i won't be as up to date with the roster as if i saw them play last night. anyway, i plunge straight into something else after about 30s of listenin…

how about taking an evening class on a subject you want to learn more about? like, i don't know, say painting or cooking or whatever. the other students share your interest right from the start and you can interact and network with them in a much more natural way than walking up to strange women in clubs. you will make new friends who share your interest and you will learn whatever the class is about and maybe you and your new friends can go out together. i tried taking a dance class. since the …

well, answering her shows that you know she exists. she has taken the time to tell you - and everyone reading the comments - she thinks you're a handsome devil. i think that calls for at least a small reward. it's like training a dog, give her a treat, but not the whole bag. not answering at all can either make her think "he's too busy having the time of his life, i want him inside me", sure, but it can also make her think "what an arrogant bastard, can't even take one minute to answer a complim…

how about "thanks, Sandra! we had a great time that day!" see? you thank her, but you are already moving on to remember your fantastic time that day - because you and your friends have a lot of fun and Sandra will think "aww man why wasn't i there, he should bloody well call me next time him and his mates go out".

okay, you have got to stop telling yourself you're ugly and awkward. seriously. scientists have figured out that after we rant we feel better, we've let out some steam. so we teach ourselves that in order to feel good we must first rant and feel low. it's a vicious circle. don't ask me for a source, just trust me here. when i found out i started seeing the pattern in myself, co-workers, friends and family. we bitch to let out steam to feel good and we dig deeper and deeper to find flaws to bitch…

if it's a new photo, one she uploaded after befriending you, like all you want. if it's an old photo that you found while digging through her albums, don't. that's creepy. i would however not like her bathroom pics, only when she is in environments you can comment on later.

just a regular tie. i don't want to look c-c-c-crazy, just like i'm slightly over dressed. every dude where i live wears a suit jacket and a t-shirt. just wearing a regular tie makes me stand out. i have a few ties, but i would stay clear of gangster black and mafia white. go to a store and wear a shirt and ask what tie would go with it (and your eyes and hair). some shirts come with a tie. if you find one that complements your eyes, buy it. i don't know how to pick ties though, i leave that up …
