Who kept the dog? I'm sharing 50% custody with my ex and hate having to see her every 2 weeks. I want her out of my life completely!!!

Gah damnit!! That's such bizarre behavior. How on earth are women so cold-hearted like that?! Immsorry she did you like!! Hope your days are getting better!

Thanks man, I appreciate it...and sorry about what happened to you!

You're a good man for trying to stick by her. It's definitely her loss that she took advantage of you and now can't live the lifestyle she once used to. You made the right decision by walking away from that married woman despite your connection. That took a lot of courage and respect! Plenty of alscumbag guys wouldn't have thought twice about it!

That was wonderfully put, man. I completely agree with this. I hate the way these feelings flood me sometimes. Thank God they are fleeting, but nevertheless! You're the only person on reddit who hasn't said to keep the dog or give her the dog. This actually gives me hope! Thank you for the wisdom.

Damn! I hope one day she won't even cross your mind at all. It's a shame some people take advantage of kind men like you! Stay strong, brother! And I hope you never meet another woman like that again!

I know...really been struggling with that one. I think it keeps me stuck and I hate that.

I'm sorry she did you so dirty! She's sounds like a complete gem of a person. I would be paranoid and anxious about dating in the future again, too! How long did it take you to actually forgive her? My wife told me she wanted a divorce a month ago and I'm still struggling with ever forgiving her, even if only to myself. And that's a good point. Don't let her know that you've forgiven her!

Yeah, I most definitely agree! We exchange our dog every 2 weeks, and I do see her. It makes me sick and anxious to see her. But, I just ignore her and keep it moving. Thanks for the advice man!

Yeah, I'm certainly working on taking accountability for my part in the divorce. Which, I have to admit, was a whole lot of things I completely regret doing/saying. I've heard about that book in a few podcasts and YouTube videos I've watched lately! I'll definitely check it out at the library! Thank you again

Damnit, man. I'm sorry to hear that. We are completely in the same boat, but you're right. It might be a little less painful to hate her. I appreciate you sharing your story and I do hope you start feeling better sooner than later!

I have to admit it. I quit doing all those charming masculine things I did for her in the beginning. I completely regret it now. All things that hit me a little too late I guess. As humans, I think we have a tendency to get comfortable and complacent. I have some many would've, could've, should'ves that haunt me every night. We can't be too hard on ourselves. Take it as a huge life lesson and move on with more wisdom is all we can do, I guess.

I am so with you! I'm 40 and would like to eventually find a worthwhile relationship that indont ultimately end up screwing it all up!!

You make such great, valid points! I completely stopped being chivalrous and doing things around the house as I should have. She has and has always had the Disney princess syndrome and made me feel like I was never good enough for her on so many levels. I know things end sometimes, I just feel like a fool for thinking my vows were written in stone. It's as if I really believed in death do us part! But, you can't make anyone stay I'd they don't have anything left. Thanks again for the wise words!…

Shit man. I'm sorry your girl did you so wrong like that. And you're probably right about the other dude. What kind of lame, generic bs excuse is that right!? Like, why even get married and push for it. She's the one that did..mmi didn't even believe in marriage. What a joke! Karma will catch them for sure !

Man, that's so true. She seems like a complete shell of the person I once knew. And you're definitely right about her being so far ahead of me. She told me she detached 6 months ago, and she was gone already. I don't even know how women do that so easily. It hurts so much, but that's great advice ..... "I don't care" perfect mantra ! Thanks for the wisdom.

It's completely true. Some people just like the compatibility of having someone to do things with. I know plenty of people like this.

Man, where do I begin. I met my now ex-wife back in 2014. I thought she was so beautiful in every way, just a bit on the chunky side for me. But, I saw it out, and we started dating and getting serious. The sex was never good to me. I was actually never really turned on by her, even in the beginning. But, I thought I could simply overcome or overlook that. Now, as I sit here and reflect on the past, I realize I may have led on her on. If I was never sexually into her, why did I not just break it…

Damnit man! I drank glasses of wine last night while watching Yellowstone. Woke up in the severe red per my whoop strap. Trying to drink this damn divorce away is hurting myself. Maybe I'll try weed to numb it all.

I agree with you, man! It's time to be hard as mutttthaf&@$ out here. I wish I had more guys to hang out with during this tough time. But, I'm watching Yellowstone and hitting the gym as often as possible. I hate the way I feel, but can only move through it!

Man, I'm so sorry to hear your ex did you like that!! Talk about the trauma you must have suffered from all that abuse. I hope you're finding peace and moving on as much as you possibly can be! I appreciate the wisdom !

Damnit, that's so rough. You're so strong, and I applaud your strength. She did you dirty and deserves no contact whatsoever. Did you block her all social media, too?

Thanks, man- I appreciate it...and you're right about that!

She has mentioned that to me before. That what I want is her emotional support, and she can't provide that any longer. She was my main person and support system, so it's hard for me to seek that in others. I've been reaching out to friends and family so much, but it feels uncomfortable. You're right... Those are the possible outcomes, and I don't think any of them seem positive at all! Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate the wisdom.

No, I see your point. My wife was always super controlling and super alpha. I mean, she took care of all the bills, vacations, etc. She wouldn't really accept my help when I offered either. That should've been a huge red flag for me! I hope you're finding peace and things are getting better for you, brother!

No, I absolutely want no part in that at all. You're completely right, man. I'm so delusional, but all your comments are really helping me see that.

That is actually really creepy when you out it that way. No wonder she thinks that I'm so at fault here. Thanks for sharing your wisdom man!

This sounds like exactly the book I need to read! Thanks for the suggestion.

I've not gone on any dates at all and only have a mild desire to do so. I set up a dating app, and things have been pretty sketchy to say the least. I really want to have a healthy rebound, though! I just really know that would help me get over her much faster. I moved into my new place about 3 weeks ago and it has been challenging, but really nice most of the time! I think you'll do great and love it too. You're right about that....great way to start off the new year with a fresh start!

I appreciate this advice, man. I really do need to have some dignity during this time and quit huring myself! I hope things are well for you now.

That's so true about women not ever thinking their the Villan. I mean, my family and even some friends still love her so much, like she did absolutely no wrong. That's another thing driving me completely crazy during this very rough time. We do share a dog 50% of the time, which makes cutting her out completely tough. But, I hear you! I'm hoping that eventually, one of us will give up our custody of our dog. I guess time will tell.

I'm sorry this is happening to you! I hope things end well for you man.

Dang, that has to be rough. Good for you for ending it finally. That's exactly what I'm afraid of happening. I hope you're doing better now.

Yeah, why is it so much more difficult for us men to move on in some cases? My dad was the same way when my mom filed for divorce. I certainly don't want to be that guy at all! I feel so weak and lacking pride in so many ways. Thanks for your advice, man. I appreciate the wise words!

We didn't have kids, and I can't imagine the pain and hurt multiplied if we did. Yesterday was incredibly hard man, I agree. I don't even drink, but I drank about 2 beers. I just wanted to be entirely numb. I hope you're doing better today and continue to find hope in moving forward!

Yeah, man! You won't believe how many times I think the vows we both committed to and just break down. I honestly feel like those meant so much to me, and now realize that wasn't the case for her. This has been something I've continued to bring up to her when we argue. I just want to be so far past it.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 02:54 AM

I guess we didn't end in a horrible fashion at all, so it's hard to really be upset with her. She gave me all of the furniture and wanted to split half of the house evenly. I just go back and forth between hating her mostly, then feeling bad about how I treated her in the relationship. I wasn't always the best husband and I now see that.

Man, this is so spot on! I'm 40 yo and have nothing but failed relationships my entire adult life. My wife wasn't wrong for leaving me because I didn't nurture us at all. I may have in the beginning, but it was probably minimal at best. I feel like such a sad fool since she was such a good girl. I hate feeling this way about myself, but deep down, I know it was really my fault our marriage didn't last. I don't know if therapy will fix this. Do you think there's hope for guys like us?
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 02:33 AM

That's actually very helpful, and thank you for sharing! I get that eventually, one person may begin to feel more "used" than the other. That's exactly what I don't want to happen between her and I. I falsely believe that I want her back so I can see myself getting hurt. I know damn good and well that we didn't work for a reason. I'm sorry you went through this, and I hope things are getting better for you!

Man, you're only saying what I feel more than half of the time! I really do feel this way. Don't get me wrong. I can't understand why I'm being such a &@$ and wanting her back in my life. I want what we had back. But, you're right. I married someone that I thought would work and make things last forever. She just silently quit because she said I didn't put in the effort to keep our marriage afloat. I hate that I feel this way. I want to completely rid myself of all the great memories. This hurts…

Man, this is also how I feel sometimes, and it kills me. On most days, I hate her. But, on the others, I just want us back. I feel like it can happen if we both work on ourselves. She wanted the divorce and I didn't, just like in your situation. I am in therapy and know that I should work on completely letting her go. Why set ourselves up for more pain? I had to let you know that you weren't alone, man! Stay strong

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
