I was just catching up with a friend from college who is from Germany but lived in the US for four years for college and then went back to Germany around 2009 and has lived there since, with the exception of two years in DC. In my field (media), nearly every job description ends with a little disclaimer about "women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply." It's been that way for years. I don't even apply for those jobs, knowing that I'm not going to hear back. I often see women pee…

We all live our own contradictions to varying degrees, but I think contemporary women — particularly the typical liberal-leaning, college educated, upwardly mobile white woman who lives in a major city — is not prepared to address their own contradictions and work on them in a meaningful way. What I mean by this is that many woman have extremely high standards for other people and in the men that they date, but you have to wonder if they are also meeting their own standards in their own daily li…

That's very interesting and I appreciate you sharing. My boss is a Gen X lesbian who is in her late 50s and was one of the first gay couples married in her state — she is not hostile towards me for who I am and actually texted me yesterday offering condolences for the pope's passing. However, in previous jobs, it was always the millennial woke white women who were just absolutely cruel beyond belief towards me and others. I know exactly what you mean about the "Mean Girls" phenomenon and it's no…

Christianity is based on the following principles. Let's get straight to the root of Christ's teachings and pretend like the church doesn't exist yet: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of hea…

That makes sense and I think that is a pretty common theme among young people. Part of my faith journey was through learning more about science and the universe. The more I learned about the creation and the history of the universe — and intelligent life on earth — from a purely scientific perspective, the more that it naturally led me to accept that there is a creator. I have watched this video probably a dozen times over the last several years. If and when you get a chance, please watch this t…

Christianity in its nature is evangelical, from the textbook definition. That is that when Jesus died and returned, he told his disciples to be his witness and to spread the word around the world — one of the radical things about Jesus' message was that he was to be the Messiah and savior of the entire world, not just the Messiah of the Judeans and Jews. Catholic mass should typically be a bit more somber in tone though. It's deeply steeped in tradition and rituals. Eastern Orthodox is like Roma…

I guess maybe my feeling or thought is that as millennials approach (or recently hit) 40 years old, they are settling into who they want to be and feel less concern about judgement or stigma from others. I used to hide the fact that I regularly attended church when doing online dating for concern of being judged or stigmatized, but now I feel so strongly about it that I am proud and don't cower from it. Maybe it's a similar situation for women who have left a marriage with a man and want the nex…

That's a really good sign and I appreciate you sharing that. That's tremendous. There is a plan for you and purpose for your life. I had struggled with clinical depression and SI for years — as my mom had also done — and it was only after having my encounter in the woods (completely sober for what it's worth) that I felt like my life was forever changed and I had this new joy and appreciation for life. I had also held my mom's hand when she took her last breath and watched as her body turned int…

And I will add... It's not just about believing and showing up... Focus your time on learning about the life of Jesus, about the history of Judea and Jerusalem, learning about the Passion, etc. There are a lot of great channels on Youtube that go over scripture and others that explore the historical aspects. Jesus was a real person. Bethlehem, Nazareth and Jerusalem are real places. Crucifixion was a real form of execution — and an absolutely horrific and brutal one too. The 12 disciples were re…

I am a total stranger on the internet, but I've found — in my own personal experience — that once you open your mind and heart and show a genuine interest and effort to find God, you will see him. It may still take a few years, but keep going and wait for your turn. I had a really intense weekend prior to Holy Week where there were a few instances where there is just no way that it was a coincidence. There are miracles all around us happening at every moment. After becoming a "witness" and havin…

There's been a lot of discussion and discourse about the political polarization of Gen Z'ers, and I'm saying that millennials are older and more established enough (and worn out by work and life) that they are making lifestyle choices that reflect a similar polarization and division among their cohort.

That's a great point and something I didn't even think about... There really is still a lot of stigma towards bi men now that you mention it. I've only known a couple of guys who came out as bi while in college and they were both almost immediately alienated by their friend groups.

Relational aggression is still abuse. And when someone sizes you — or anyone — up based on their birthdate and projects a version of you that is completely made up in their mind... I wouldn't describe that as perfectly innocent or healthy behavior. I understand your point about some churches, but many church volunteers have truly given themselves to helping others in their community.

I've dated a couple of tarot women in their 30s and initially thought it was just a quirky hobby they did for fun but when I had one of them do a reading and suddenly began to project all of this bogus crap on me afterwards, I realized that it is actually majorly unhealthy.

I also think women's standards for men are much higher than a woman's standards for women Very interesting point. I have noticed this as well. Women are very selective when it comes to male partners. In nearly every case I've witnessed in my personal life when a woman divorces their husband and partners with a woman, it's always with a fairly stumpy, overweight butch type of woman. Maybe they are still attracted to some degree of masculinity but want to be with a woman?

These aren’t examples of “turning to same-sex relationships” because it didn’t work out with men. These are examples of women who are attracted to women but (due to family or society pressure) repressed that and tried to be ok in relationships with men. I'm sure that's true in some cases, but it seems like women are much more into the idea of gender fluidity and identifying as bi than men are. I also believe that a lot of college educated, upwardly mobile urban millennial women are resentful tow…

But according to the article even young women vastly outnumber young men in "spirituality" - horoscopes, tarot cards, zen and other crap just as useless as the church, mosque or sinagogue or whatever. New agey "spiritualism" and "the universe" yoga speak isn't the same thing as belief in God. If anything, that stuff speaks more to women leaning more into cultural leftism. Going to church requires discipline, a belief in community, and viewing yourself as the one who serves God, not the other way…

It really is damned if you do, damned if you don't... The absolute lack of compassion from people towards men — particularly those who die alone via deaths of despair — is really disheartening. It's also just more evidence as to why men keep their feelings to themselves. No one cares about or respects a man who pities himself.

All modern women want to do is travel, eat at high-end establishments, drive luxury vehicles, be pampered and share it on social media to their network. Why work for it when you can just take it? Marry up and divorce and take half of his wealth and receive alimony or find a wealthy man who can get you "accidentally" pregnant and then take him for child support and get 20-25% of his take-home pay. When a man is legally obligated to pay the way for a woman who he is no longer romantically connecte…

(continued) Enlisting Authority Figures The police, their children’s school officials, therapists, the court system, and bosses can all get looped into the fight that female narcs have with the men in their lives. Men get abused too. While they may be less likely to be beaten up physically, they are just as easily mentally, emotionally, and psychologically abused as women. When it involves narcissism, gender doesn’t matter. A narcissist may as well be an androgynous figure. Someone with these tendencies will indiscriminately abuse to get their way. Men, women, children, the elderly, and often animals get the tail end of their exploitation and mistreatment. Disclaimer: Every technique below can be used by …

Some people might immediately say that this stat only illustrates or backs up the idea or notion that men are inherently more violent than women and more likely to commit serious crimes than women, but the reality — as we all know — is that it is well documented that men receive much more severe and harsh punishments for similar crimes as women. It's likely that it's much less socially acceptable to execute women than men and the stats back this up.

I wish I spoke Spanish... But also, I don't have it in me to abandon my child. I just wish I was treated as an equal and had the ability to save for my own future instead of helping support my daughter's mom building a new life and family with her fiance and new child.

Most women will rush back to gender stereotypes and tropes during family court and seek maximum alimony and child support during a separation. Women are incentivized to keep children away from the fathers in order to maintain primary custody and keep getting the maximum child support.

My kid's mom just closed on a house but bid up $20,000 over ask. According to the Redfin assessment, it's already dropped $40,000 in value since she closed on it. She did the same thing when she bought a used car... Got completely hosed on a used Jeep and then complains to me about it after the fact. I offered to help her search for a car, but she didn't want my help. When I saw she overpaid for her house, I just chuckled inside... She has the financial literacy of a 15 year old.

My daughter's mom hired a lawyer to sue for full custody and child support when I told her that I wanted to work with her on formalizing a parenting plan... She later told me that her dream of homeownership died when she hired a lawyer — which was solely her own decision and a huge escalation when we could have done the parenting plan ourselves with a mediator. About nine months after saying that to me, she closed on a house with her new boyfriend/fiance. She's not only making significantly more…

People don't realize how many hurdles there are for a good man and good father to jump through to be an active and engaged father. The trope of the "deadbeat dad" is so outdated and harmful. The reality is that if you're unmarried, in most states, you have zero legal rights as a father. If the mother is a controlling or vindictive person, she will do almost everything within her power to keep the father in a subordinate position. And the other major problem here is that divorce and single-mother…

I have a similar anecdote... Last autumn, I decided to get involved with fathers rights and a group that promotes legislation for fathers across the country and within a couple of weeks realized that the leader was using it as another grift. It's not to say that he hadn't done good with the group and movement, but he was not necessarily a good person. I'm no longer involved and it's tough because it just feels so hopeless that we'll see 50-50 equal shared parenting in the time that my child is s…

Too often, people lean on tired tropes and inaccurate talking points about what child support is and what purpose it serves. But here's the basic gist: The courts decide that there is a primary, or "custodial" parent, and a secondary, or "non-custodial" parent. Each state has their own way of calculating child support, but it's usually a fairly decent chunk of the non-custodial parent's take-home pay. But essentially, the money the non-custodial parent pays ends up straight into the custodial pa…

Child support is fungible and literally goes straight into the custodial parent's checking account. There is no way to differentiate what is being spent on the child and what the mother is using for herself. The government doesn't care though — as long as they're getting their cut.

I was baby trapped after dating someone for one month and now pay $1,300 per month in child support. My kid's mom is pregnant with her new boyfriend and he has no idea what he's in store for if and when she turns on him. I love my daughter, but being unprepared for a child and fatherhood, and now paying nearly $16,000 per year to someone who is entirely disrespectful and cruel towards me is something that I wouldn't hope for anyone. Don't tell women about su*cidal ideation or previous attempts as that's something they will absolutely use against you later. If you're on good terms with them, they'll feel a sense of privilege or power to have been given that information, but if and when that friend or partner turns on you, they will use it as ammunition. And it's awful too because aren't we trying to smash the patriarchy and normalize men's mental health issues? Instead so many women weaponize this information in an effort to…

I've noticed this too. Women in more rural areas are typically much more interested in traditionally masculine guys — both in physical features and attitude. Educated, corporate women are attracted to men who "know what they want" and will pursue them and take the lead in the bedroom, but otherwise, I've found that they treat their partner like a man-servant.

Fatherlessness is a public policy decision as much as it's seen as a personal "choice." These elected leaders and people in positions of power think that by disenfranchising and financially burdening fathers is going to somehow improve the issues with fatherlessness? A lot of women love the attention they get when they're pregnant or after they've had a baby. Some women almost become addicted to the attention and seek to stay pregnant all the time. It's clear that you were in a situation where she had full intentions of becoming pregnant. This is such an important theme to highlight. Not only do men just have no real ability to decide beyond safe sex, but when men are "baby trapped," there are literally no consequences for women for forcing men into a life-long obligation to support a child emotionally and financially. There was a "tough on crime" style reform of child support in the 80s where the federal government intensified the severity of penalties against fathers and gave states more autonomy and resources for enforcement. None of it really makes sense... Part of it was the 80s Reagan-era disdain of "Welfare Queens" and making sure that any public assistance provided to children was paid back by the father. But then it also opened the floodgates to qualifying all children and mothers to child support... …

Laws around child support are only focused on enforcement. And as anyone can see on the official DOJ website, there are very harsh penalties on men who fail to pay court-ordered child support. Haven't we decided as a society that the "tough on crime" policies of the 80s and 90s don't work? Haven't we decided that only focusing on punishment is inhumane? Researchers cited the pandemic as the biggest factor in the widening gender gap; it took a heavier toll on men. Unintentional injuries and poisonings (mostly drug overdoses), accidents and suicide were other contributors. Another factor in Americans' shrinking lifespan: so-called "deaths of despair." That's a nod to the rise in deaths owing to such causes as suicide, drug use disorders and alcoholic liver disease. These are often linked to economic hardship, depression and stress. "While rates o…

I can vouch for Illinois... Despite how progressive the voting bloc is in Chicago and the suburbs, the custody and child support laws are woefully outdated and far behind other states. Sadly, recent attempts to push for 50/50 parenting time as law have been fought and defeated by (take a wild guess) the family lawyer lobby.

I make $89,000 per year and pay $1,300 per month in child support. The mother makes $150,000 per year and works four days a week, but still puts our kid in five-day daycare.

I had really no choice but to "agree" to my daughter's mom's lawyer's proposal of me paying $1,300 per month in child support because if I didn't and we went in front of a judge, they were going to push for me to pay her legal fees (in addition to my own) and seek arrears of around $2,500-$3,000. I am so broke anymore but she's living large. Women can and will only do this when they have absolutely no more respect for you. It's completely dehumanizing.

If I would have known how much child support and family courts were going to wreck my mental health, my physical health, my financial health, and spiritual health, I would have pushed for aborting the pregnancy after we found out. But at the time, I thought my girlfriend would never turn on me the way she did, thought she would never deny me my humanity and thought that I'd enjoy being a father (which I do). I'm paying $1,300 per month to a woman who is making $150K per year — she's living in a …

My parents split when I was 6 years old. By 12 years old, I started getting into trouble, lashing out, and just wasn't happy living with my mom and sister. My sister was always conniving and bossy and my mom always seemed to side with her on things. I asked to go live with my dad at that point because I wanted to be away from my mom and sister, but also wanted to have a father figure in my life. My dad was a real ball-buster and frankly, kind of a narcissistic jerk, but after moving in with him,…

He's right for sure. But I also understand that women get inundated on dating sites and dating apps. That's why I think more men should really go after the women they're interested in that they know in their inner circles through friends or work or neighborhood. Women on dating sites only have to show up, and even then, for many of them, it feels like they're doing too much or there's just simply overload or overstimulating. For most men, you're just a number, or just your height, or your job ti…

I'm guessing you're still in high school, college, or maybe in your 20s based on your post... Women at those ages want something and someone who is exciting... A lot of sexually active younger woman also have a drive to lure and connect with guys who have accomplished something, have some clout, have cool hobbies, or any hint of "fame." A lot of times, guys like that are putting themselves first — above anything else — and are fairly cutthroat about their goals, but can also be brash and abrasiv…

It's already been said here multiple times, but I can speak from my own experience... Please, please be safe and don't trust a woman who says that they're in that "safe zone" where they're in between menstruation and won't get pregnant. Three summers ago, I started seeing someone and she had an app that tracked her period... She said we were good to go, and then of course, a few weeks later, we find out that she's pregnant. This was after only knowing each other for one month. Only she knows if …

I haven't spoken with my dad in a couple of months. We're not very close. My last resort is moving in with my uncle in rural South Carolina... Not glamorous, but I woudn't be homeless.

Guess what? We were never married. Ever consider that, asshole? You can still be stuck with child support even if you were never married. It's called unplanned pregnancy and not having a say in the matter.

I make a pretty decent income and with the side hustles, I'm probably right around $100K per year for all income. But after I pay my bills and child support, I'm typically left with just $200-$300 to get me through those two weeks until I get paid again. To say it's demoralizing is an understatement. It feels like I'd be better off just giving up and go live in a van down by the river.

I hear you and no worries — it actually helps to hear how others made it through. The reality is that I feel weak and hopeless and maybe that's what they want. It really sucks to feel like as a man, the only person who is going to save you is yourself. There is literally no one else in the world who will save you.

Chicago/Cook County just had a historic property tax hike over the winter and I'm in a neighborhood that was hit the hardest. I was able to appeal and get it reduced by a few hundred bucks a year, but it's still up by around $3,000-$4,000 in just one year.
