Well, it's a little off topic, but if you think about William Shatner's career, there is such a thing as an "in demand has been", weird...but that's not your point, of course.

I think you have evolved a strong clever strategy here. If anyone is going to use OLD, they would be smart to take a cue from this. Thanks for sharing!

Leftist men are just as culpable in misogyny as men on the right, the only difference is how they express it. If you look at different traditional cultures across different time periods you will see many differences but one thing is always the same and that is the conception of a woman's place. Black, white, left, right - misogyny is the true human universal.

Hi, I just wanted to suggest you think about investing instead of getting a "job". Right now you have access to an income stream. That's an advantage you may not always have and you should press that advantage while you have it. For instance, if you use your SW revenue to purchase an income property, then in future it can open an avenue for you to earn passive income through rental that can replace SW money without you having to obtain and regularly show up to a job that may not be practical due…

Yeah, the Victorian era. Medically prescribed rape! They don't want to open their eyes or research their own proof because understanding the issue isn't their real goal. Their real goal is to shut me up and continue to think of their own rape adjacent fantasies as "boys will be boys". I agree with you that all the psychologist you mentioned has demonstrated is that men don't like the word "rape" not that they oppose the action.

Thanks for doing some research! I wanted to have more than a vague memory to back it up, but yesterday I just didn't have the time. So obviously a male author! If asking the same question twice in a different way was so invalid why do cops routinely use that technique to catch criminals? I actually habitually ask business and service people I am dealing with the same questions twice, because I have found it is the only way to make sure I'm getting all the info. People often answer differently th…

A survey in the early 2000s that allowed men to respond anonymously found 65% of men answered they would rape a woman if they were guaranteed to get away with it. More than half the guys you encounter would be cool raping you if it didn't blow back on them.

Agreed, it is an extremely poignant show. The light hearted melancholy of the theme song says it all. There's a realism in the depiction of poverty that often gets glossed over by mainstream productions and I feel like the characters are presented lovingly. It's really a tragic comedy. And an eye for authenticity - Ricky really does only wear like 3 different shirts for the entire run.

That show is so funny. The scene that always sticks with me is Ricky explaining to the judge that he is literally incapable of expressing himself with out swearing, so being told not to swear in court deprives him of his right to defend himself. And she agrees and he is then allowed to swear!

This puts me in mind of the crime of petty treason in old timey Britain. Back in the day a woman killing a man was legally considered worse than a man killing a woman, because of the way the culture at the time viewed the divine hierarchy as established by god. Unsurprisingly it goes: God Jesus King King's representatives/god's representatives Fathers/Husbands Men in general Women and children In the microcosm of the household the man is the stand in for the king and god. So if a man killed a wo…

It certainly wasn't intended as a judgment on the innate value of any living thing. All life has the same innate value. I suppose I was displaying the opinion that having self respect is preferable to not having it (and on second thought I'll double down on that) but I'm certainly not personally judging dogs for who they are. They're just animals, doing what nature tells them to do. I will confess to typing off the cuff when I said "instead of dogs" as that gives the impression I don't like dogs…

This might have something to do with the fact that culturally "jewishness" is passed down through the mother. Meaning in order for the children to be considered jewish their mother must be jewish. If I'm not mistaken this is why women light the shabbas candles, because they are considered the foundation of the jewish household. So that makes a non jewish woman a non starter. It also has to do with discrimination. Straight up, "gentiles" are thought of as being immoral and jews moral. I lived in …

I always thought Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain were a perfect example of this. She's a genius, but because she was with Cobain people act like she was just riding his coat tails and ripping him off. Even though their music doesn't sound at all similar aside from both being the same genre.

Completely agree. This is actually so important to me I think of it as a full blown red flag. There is no "small" boundary. It is its "boundary-ness" that is important, not what the boundary is about.

I didn't say they were less than. I just respect the quality of self respect cats have and can't help but notice that their self respect directly negatively impacts how they are treated by some people and I see the parallel between that and a lot of what goes on in the manosphere. So I pointed that out.

Oh that's not it at all. It's cause they felt like it was a burden to "have all this pressure" to get them, and they hear this excuse about them being impractical and they are so relieved! Ha! It's irrefutable! It isn't that they are stingy/unromantic/thoughtless/selfish at all. It's that the flowers are just impractical! Typing this out I noticed the correlation between this thinking and a wider historical trend of men condemning women for what they perceive as "frivolity" or "impracticality". …

Cats (because they require consent) This is why I like cats instead of dogs. Many people see dogs as friendly and cats as standoffish or even evil. But that's because dogs beg everyone for love and acceptance, whereas cats have dignity and want a person to, idk, be nice to them before they get emotionally involved? Notice how this labeling of cats as snobby or evil just because they respect themselves parallels men's attitudes toward women. Dogs are "mans best friend" - and give undying and unqu…

Especially infuriating because, as you say, flowers are obvious and therefore represent a gift requiring zero thought or even knowledge of the woman you are giving them to. All they have to do is intend to get them, then actually get them, that's it. Since most people live in a city, most men probably walk past a flower vendor routinely during their day, so in theory they could even completely forget they intended to get them, and still be reminded in a way that requires no planning or effort - …

100% agree. They'd legislate us into guardianship arrangements and prison, no access to workforce or leadership. Look how they treated us when they simply believed with no evidence we were too emotional, let alone had evidence we were consistently criminally violent.

Ugh I am so with you on the separatism. At this point I don't even want men in my life experience in any capacity. Not friends, not relatives, not on tv, not even really seeing them around. Women would be so much safer and happier if we could build a stable society of mutual female support without reference to men. I would never advocate harming or oppressing existing men but would it be so bad if we could perfect laboratory reproduction of people and just.....stop making them?

The thing you said about the nicer you were the worse he treated you - this realization right here was my first turning point in how I perceive men. They will never value you for kindness because when you are kind you are merely affirming their preconceived idea of what you are for - being their cheerleader and help maid. They won't value it even while feeling entitled to it and demanding it. In fact as you get closer through kindness it will intensify their resentment, because you are provoking…

Just sending you some hugs, sis! Divorce is one of the most soul destroying experiences you can have. I know you are worried about being alone, but being in a dead relationship is a thousand times lonlier than simply being in your own company. Those are the choices of a strong woman. Be kind to your…

Absolutely. Like those daddy-daughter chastity dances. Those creep me out so much. Why, just why, is the guy so possessive of his daughter's sexuality? I really hate the whole idea of older siblings parenting younger ones regardless of gender. As a youngest sibling I experienced how this damaged my relationships with my siblings, because they felt responsible for me so they were controlling and limiting of me. Only a few years apart, we could have been friends, but instead this power dynamic was set up. They didn't have that much more life experience than me, but I felt like all my experiences were preprocessed and spoon fed. When it involves o…

Yeah, but this casts the brother in the role of his sister's keeper and reinforces that men are to be the gatekeepers and police of women's bodies. And I don't just mean this in some abstract political way. My older brother cast himself in this role and was really weird and controlling. It inhibited my ability to take independent steps as a young woman.

Things that annoy you now will seem insufferable down the road. I had a relationship like this. Thought I was the luckiest woman born. But when the relationship hit harder times I found he couldn't tell me what he wanted. He didn't know what himself. We couldn't work on problems because he literally didn't know his own motivations. His refusal to ever have confrontations led to him lying about everything being okay and now that it's over I think this is the part that still makes me angry. He sto…
