The most common retort I hear from those who disagree is; You are not in favor of reserving abortion, adoption and legal paternal surrender for cases of rape, you are using that as an excuse for all other cases. Yeah, that is kind of the point. We are talking about policy and policy can be implemented to apply to many different cases.

How do you expect someone to have their own home, have a job to support that life, and also commute to someone else home who they do not want to be present with anymore and do their housework? How would you enforce a mandatory court date? If someone does not show up to a court date, how would they be punished? Whatever method you would use to punish someone for not showing up to a court date, that is how you punish someone who failed to fulfill their homemaking duties. If the lower earner fails …

No-Werewolf-5955. What makes you so sure that this solution is impossible to implement? Divorce payouts can be (and have already been) implemented. Imagine if the higher earner where allowed to take the lower earner to court and demand that the lower earner fulfill home making duties. Imagine if a judge decided if the demands being made are or are not reasonable. That is pretty much already how alimony works.

63daddy. What if the terms of the divorce payout state that the ex-spouses must remain close enough to one another for such an arrangement to work?

The sacrifices made by the lower earner may have helped the higher earner get where they are in their career. Therefore, it is believed that the lower earner is entitled to a share of the money. In some cases, the lower earner may have put their career and will have a hard time getting ahead. That, I assume, is the logic behind divorce payouts. If the lower earner is supposed to be entitled to a divorce payout, then it follows logically that the higher earner had a right to be taken care of by t…

that’s not the governments duty. What is not the government's duty? their duty is to make sure the children have what they need. I may or may not agree with that sentiment, depending on what exactly it is supposed to mean in a legal context. I would argue that Universal Basic Income could help the child’s basic needs be met ( https://youtu.be/kl39KHS07Xc?si=KwkFzskM39zLeO7A ). If you are not in favour of that, there are certain welfare benefits that could be given to the custodial parent to help…

If a man has sex with a woman, he has as much responsibility as she does for bringing life into this world. If the man wants the woman to abort and she gave birth anyway just to spite him, then no he does not bear as much blame as she does for bringing the child into the world. Women control if the child is born or not because they have the womb. It’s a double standard, but it’s biology and the bottom line of being “pro-choice” is bodily autonomy, period First of all, statistics show that many i…

If anyone claims rape, it needs to be proven before any kind of legal action happens, Evidence should be required in order to subject the rapist to punishment. However, this is not about penalizing the alleged rapist, it is about protecting the alleged victim from having to pay child support to their rapist. If you can’t prove that this woman raped you, or somehow stole your seed, then yes, you’re going to pay child support. If you ask me, I believe that forcing a man to pay child support to his…

The issue with your statement, is that at the end of the day, a woman decides whether or not a baby is born or deleted. Exactly, the decision about whether or not the pregnancy ended in birth is made unilaterally by the woman. If the man wanted the woman to abort and she gave birth anyway just to spite him, it would not be fair to force the man to pay child support. He did not have any say in the woman's decision to remain pregnant, just because the child is biologically his, so he should not ha…

this would have to be proven If a woman sues a man for child support and he claims that she raped him, he has to prove that she raped him? If he cannot prove it, he has to pay child support, just because he cannot prove that she raped him? Is that what you are saying? If that is not what you are saying, then what are you saying? If, however, that is what you are saying, then that is no different than an anti-abortion advocate saying that a woman, who wishes to have an abortion, should have to pr…

If you raised your child for any length of time, you need to pay child support even if you never wanted to be a parent. Here is how the child support laws, for which I advocate, would work. Once the child is born, the mother can sign her name on the birth certificate if she wants to raise the child. The father can take the issue to court and demand custody of the child if that is what he wants. If the mother wants the father to be in the child’s life, there is no need to take the issue to court …

A prenup that effectively goes, “if we divorce, you get nothing”, would easily be thrown out of court by most any judge. Is that so? I have read multiple credible sources stating that a prenup can prevent any spousal support from being paid in the event of a divorce, if a clause is put in the agreement that says so ( https://familylawadvocate.com/are-prenuptial-agreements-limiting-spousal-maintenance-enforceable/#:~:text=Parties%20can%20place%20a%20clause,be%20no%20spousal%20maintenance%20awarde…

If you don’t want to pay child support, don’t have kids. If you get a woman pregnant, don’t blame HER for getting pregnant, you could have literally wore a condom I have three questions. Question #1: Do you believe that abortion should be legal? If you are pro-choice, that means that you believe that a woman should not be forced to remain pregnant if she does not want to. I agree with that. If you are okay with a woman opting out of parenthood (and the financial obligations that come with it) vi…

Another thing. What if the homemaker was incompetent and did not serve their spouse? Imagine one partner goes to work while the other stays home and takes care of the kids. The homemaker can just abandon his/her responsibilities at a moment’s notice. It is only fair that the breadwinner be able to abandon his/her responsibilities at a moment’s notice. Prenups to waive alimony generally are not enforceable Prenuptial agreements can be a great tool for couples before marriage. However, prenups must be drafted correctly to be legally enforceable. If your prenup is not drafted correctly, you cannot use it, and your spouse may be automatically entitled to half of all your finances and property. https://www.google.com/search?q=prenups+are+non-enforceable&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS959US960&oq=prenups+are+non-enforceable&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIJCAEQIRg…

That benefit should end with marriage This is good. Suppose you make that argument and the other person retorts with this; The breadwinner was able to advance in his or her career, because of the sacrifices that the homemaker stayed home to take care of the kids. The homemaker should be entitled to a share of the profits that the breadwinner was able to earn because of the sacrifices that the homemaker made. Vose4492. Yes, this is good. If you can end a marriage at will, you should be allowed (legally) to abandon financial responsibility at will. This day in age, we are lucky enough to have no fault divorce. No fault divorce is a good thing. Once upon a time, getting a divorce required both spouses to be present. That creates a problem if one spouse wants a divorce and the other does not. You also had to establish fault. In my radical opinion, filing for divorce should not require fault to be establ…

you should try to protect yourself as much as possible from threats. If the threat is being forced to pay alimony to a spouse who ruined the marriage via infidelity, then the only reason why the threat exists is because the system was designed that way. Therefore, the logical choice is to fix the system so that that threat no longer exists. Those who fall victim of an injustice should be met with love and support, they should not be victim blamed. https://youtu.be/UT90crOppx0?si=XDlA3LG6_246bC6u…

michaelpaoli. What happened to your sister is horrible. It would be great for your sister to be able to sue her abusive partner for everything he is worth. The huge number of children in the foster care system is the result of older kids (i.e. six year olds and sever year olds) being placed in the foster care system due to their parents dying or ending up in jail. It is very easy for babies to be adopted. Since the overturn of Roe v Wade, many states in America (where I live) have passed complete abortion bans. To me, the best argument to support the position that both men and women should be allowed to opt out of financial responsibility to unwanted child (and why this policy should be federal) is this. Under the policy for which I advocate, even if a woman is prevented from being able to obtain an abortion (this wouldn’t necessarily mean that abortion was banned, it could mean that every aborti…

It's just refreshing to hear that others share this view and not be told that I'm a terrible, evil villain for thinking this way I do believe that people who think like us are the silent majority. A lot of people think that being labelled a creep happens exclusively to ugly people. The reality is you can be attractive and still be labelled creepy, but that does not mean that looks don't play a role. Someone thinking that you are good looking greatly decreases the probability that you will be labelled a creep.

Yeah. It makes logical sense to abolish alimony all together, but offering an advantage to the spouse who did not want to get divorced in the first place would make sense in the same way and for the same reason that ambiguity in a contract benefits the party that did not draft it.

You are only being creepy if the other person isn’t attracted to you. It is possible to find someone attractive without being attracted to them. What I am saying is that victim blaming makes no sense. There is nothing wrong with giving someone advice on how to avoid being victimized. The problem arrises when the victim is blamed. I may be wrong, but I believe made to penetrate is when a man is forced to penetrate someone. If a woman coerces a man into having sex through threats or black mail or takes advantage of him while he is drunk or incapacitated, that is made to penetrate. It is possible for a man to do that to another man, but a man can penetrate another man in the butt with his penis, so it is far more likely that a woman will make a man penetrate than it is that a man will make another man penetrate. Male victims of abuse are not taken seriously? Let's examine that hypothesis and play devil's advocate. Approximately 24% of all relationships involve physical violence of some sort. Half of all violence is reciprocated (which means both partners abuse each other) and women are the perpetrators of 70% of all non-reciprocated domestic abuse cases: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1854883/ Despite that fact, the Duluth model always presumes women to be the victims in a domestic abuse c…

This may be an unusual thing to be focused on all things considered, but OP misused the word acronym. An acronym is not merely a set of initials. An acronym is a set of initials that can be pronounced as words ( https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+an+acronym&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS959US960&oq=what+is+an+acronym&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l9.4861j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 ). NAFTA, UNICEF and DARE are acronyms. MRA is not an acronym.

The wage gap is actually an earnings gap, as female Harvard professor Claudia Goldin explained in a 2016 report: https://www.workflexibility.org/gender-pay-gap-interview.../ https://hbr.org/podcast/2018/02/mind-the-wage-gap In this report, Goldin explained that the real reason men make more money than women is because men prioritize earnings more than women: https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2013/05/the-biggest-myth-about-the-gender-wage-gap/276367/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-ge…

"they get to live in a hyper romantic reality when they want pressuring men to subsidize them for deal of shame and humiliation." What does that mean?

"They make up a statically insignificant percentage of the 25 % of the economy that is dirty and dangerous." That is correct. However, men usually make the free will choice to work these jobs.

I definitely don't agree with modern feminists. I reject the idea that a patriarchy exists to privilege men to the detriment of women. However, some of the facts and statistics cited in the original post were misleading. "Women live longer." That is true. However, this is the case across the animal kingdom. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-52007780#:~:text=Now%2C%20an%20international%20team%20of,that's%2018.6%25%20longer%20than%20males. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/femal…

It may very well be the case that women have more help available to them than men. However, is that the reason why men are statistically more likely to commit suicide than women? I don't think so. Statistics show that women are more likely than men to attempt suicide, but men are considerably more likely than women to actually die of suicide. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190313-why-more-men-kill-themselves-than-women https://www.verywellmind.com/gender-differences-in-suicide-methods-1067…
