Well that is natural, we all crave the challenge that comes from winning someone over and if it appears to easy then the achievement can be lessened. I meant you may be afraid of being hurt by someone if you did go out with them, if you did actually stick with them instead of getting out when it's looking like it will go your way. Everyone fears relationships not going well in the end, I have been single more then a few years now as a result of past relationships not going well.

This is very interesting, low self esteem probably is the culprit. I often turn down girls that like me or go out of my way to push girls I like away from me. I believe that is from poor self esteem, lack of confidence. Perhaps you are just afraid of being hurt??

Well I remained friends because I loved their personality, and that's kind of where the problem lies, not with their sexuality (I have no problem with anyone's sexuality) but with what I find attractive.

I think it was dangerous that you went out alone like that, even if you did meet some people you knew at it you had no way of knowing if there would be anyone you knew there.

Thats not exactly much of a problem, I won't even go out so what you managed is far better then anything I could ever do. Nights out and meeting new people are scary things to do.

22 guy here, I have the same problem, been in several relationships, no problem with intimacy until it gets to the sex and then I freak out about possible pregnancy so am still a virgin... Not sure what could ever change my mind about it all.
