Reading “Splitting” my first question:Thanks for a detailed and thought out response. I’m totally fine with her taking half the money if it makes the split easier. It will be fucked if I have to pay alimony on top of it. Up until January I was working on my PhD making less than a livable wage. She made twice as much as me. Now that I’m a post-doc we make the exact same amount. If I have to give her half my savings AND pay her alimony AND take on her car debt (which she took on before marriage) I’ll be financially fucked | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/11/21 04:27 PM
Reading “Splitting” my first question:Sorry if I came across as irrational. I guess I meant amicable in the sense that she’s probably not going to fight me over the divorce itself. Again, she’s on her way out too. So marital funds means any money that either of us got (into our bank account) during the marriage? Even if this money was mine before the marriage, just wrapped up in investments. Again, I’m fine with her taking half (see how I changed from saying giving her half?) of it as long as it helps speed up the process. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/11/21 05:13 PM
How did you know it was time to go?Yes. At this point I am not having kids with her. Not happening. Not sure I had a final straw moment. Just after our ~10th major blow up fight in our first year of marriage, I spent an entire round of golf yesterday speaking to myself out loud trying to come up with one good reason I should stay. I couldn’t. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/11/21 03:10 PM
How did you know it was time to go?Damn. We don’t even have kids. But one of the points on my “reasons to stay” list is to have the opportunity at kids/family. But fuck if I want any future sons of mine to think dealing with the BS I put up with is normal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/11/21 02:04 AM
(29M) -Every conversation with my spouse (28F) removes the life out of me, & makes my heart race.. I’m completely tired of financially supporting this woman. We have no kids, no assets, nothing together. I feel bad because she’s jobless, but I am literally killing my self everyday in this marriage.Honest inquiry. What types of boundaries? I’m done but for now I’m in the same house as my wife until we file. What boundaries did you use to lay the groundwork? Already not sleeping in the same bed, not eating meals together, not intimate. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/11/21 01:31 AM
