He was never like this before he moved to LA It sucks, but you should focus on how he is and not how he used to be. I know that's hard, because you're experience a kind of sock and awe or a lighter version of cognitive dissonance, but thinking of it like "if he could only go back to the way he was" won't help. I had a friend in high school (2005 grad) who was the most leftist of all my friends at the time. He was suspended from school for protesting the Iraq war a few times. He went into the mil…

How does your wife feel about this? Does your experience of romance vs sexual arousal affect your marriage?

I’ve urged him to not Watch them but he’s told me that my mind is fogged by the left. Don't let him bully you like that. "The left" doesn't fog anyone's mind. Push back, hard. If you want to be a good friend, don't roll over to his bullshit. Set boundaries and don't let him break them. Demand respect, and if he's totally unwilling to give it, then end your friendship. My best advice is to not use soft gloves because of your empathy and fear for him and your friendship. It's good that you have th…

If it would make him look bad, maybe he shouldn't be doing it in the first place. It sounds like you need to stage an intervention of sorts. He also needs to know that this doesn't make him any more manly. It makes him more bitter and angry and misogynistic, that's it. "Real men" are multifaceted people, not one dimensional idiots like those red bill gurus.

This lady is incredibly dumb in my opinion. She thinks for two week course on sex therapy in the 80s given to her as training to be a probation officer qualifies her any any way to make the claims. Sex doesn't require love, but to say they are antithetical is truly divorced from reality. How can someone communicate with other humans and come to that conclusion? I'd imagine she has mental health issues that prevent her from experiencing sexual arousal with someone who she is emotionally connected…

I remember the days when arguments against modern feminism were mostly about supporting "egalitarianism" instead of whining about women working. This was always a very silly and misinformed argument. I worked with a read the work of highly regarded egalitarians theorists while I was in grad school for moral and political philosophy. Every single one would have said without hesitation or reservation that they were feminists as well as egalitarians. Egalitarianism is in no way contrary to feminism…

It would probably work better to search the queer community for someone that can help than to search the exredpill community for someone who can help that's queer. Just odds-wise. I'm sure there are plenty of queer people who can relate to trying to embody hypermasculinity when they were trying to hide or deny their queerness or transness ect. Even if they never got into redpill directly, I'm sure they a similar experience and would be a good resource. It's quite common to overcompensate when yo…

I would like to either punch him in the face or tell him I am ON to the Game and I am gone. Don't do any of this. He absolutely deserves it, but it might lead to escalation or retaliation on his part. Be safe. The concern I always have is for the next woman. How can you or we a society help warn the next woman he's with that he's going to abuse her too? So many times in situations like yours these guys find another woman to abuse, and that woman will go into denial mode about it. If you want to …

My experience was rare. I doubt similar will happen for most guys. I was taking philosophy classes at my university, started to learn a lot about political philosophy, ethics, and intellectual feminism. My behavior didn't really jive with what I was learning. I realized I could pursue women in a more open way, without manipulation or tactics. I realized I was trying to emotionally manipulate women because I was bullied in highschool and had low self esteem. It made more sense to be myself, or th…

I have a history of anxiety as well as being adhd/autistic. I am older and luckily missed out on the red pill as it currently stands, but did some similar stuff/ had similar mindset in my early 20s. This is very common among redpillers and blackpillers, I've noticed. Anxiety makes some men very insecure about their ability to form sexual relationships and the redpill provides the kind of wrong answers that prey upon those anxieties. Many autistic men have a hard time with the variability of roma…

It could be his wealth and status. It could be something else. The reality isn't that women never act in a manner similar to how redpill describes women, it's that women act in a wide variety of ways and that redpiller's takes on women's behavior isn't useful or predictive. Think of all the millions of stereotypically attractive 30ish year old women who don't sleep with ultra wealthy old geezers. The vast majority of them do not and would not even if given the chance. Reality isn't red or blue p…

Sometimes that happens. It's not right. On the other hand, you're worried about 4-5 upvotes and downvotes in the wrong direction deep into a thread. That's just the nature of any small sub. The earliest top level comments get way more votes, the ones deep in a thread get less and are more prone to bad takes. My point wasn't that you literally want perfection, it's that you're focusing on the wrong things.
/r/ExRedPill17/09/24 10:45 AM

"Perfection is the enemy of the good." Any such sub, or any space at all, is going to make trade-offs. This sub does a lot of good, even if you think it might accomplish more if it were more focused in a way you preferred. I'd suggest accepting that no space of this type is going to be perfect and try to help people where you can.

You have somewhat of a point, but there are definitely other red pill guys who want dumber/less educated women to take advantage of, manipulate, and control. I believe you when you say you weren't like that when you were into the red pill, but I've encountered many guys who were. That's especially true of the earlier redpill ~2011-2013, but I've encountered lots of red pilled dudes who are similar in the last few years too. You have to remember that this is also a space for victims to vent. Some…

Depends on the state, but usually 50/50 shared custody doesn't involve child support. Obviously your dude just has visitation, not 50/50 shared, so he has to make up the difference financially. They're taking him to court because he's not paying it all and/or hiding income. Which is really shitty. Some women (or men) squander child support payments, but it's still his duty to pay them in the first place. Kids are expensive. He's shortchanging his own children.

They keep taking him to court for child support so he tries to find ways to hide any bonuses or pay raises. Fuck dead beat dads. I was lucky and my dad always paid his share toward my care (parents were never married, Mom took primary custody with no contest). A few of my friends had shit dads who were always dodging child support. Those guys really fucked up their kids in many ways. People say that the courts are stacked against dads in custody, but most men don't even seek shared custody. When…

I was really hit by the realisation that I don't want to have sex with a woman who doesn't really know me. There is this thing in redpill where you are told to not open up about yourself. I mean, there is one thing to whine like a little bitch , and one thing to talk about yourself like you don't feel sorry for yourself. This is super common with guys who get into the red pill. I remember explaining to you that it takes a little bit of attraction to start with. Most people don't go from zero attraction to a ton of attraction. They go from "that person is kinda cute" to "wow, they're pretty hot." So, if you find a young woman that you're somewhat attracted to and she feels the same back, and you really like each other's personalities and spend a lot of time together, then it's highly likely you'll be more attracted to one another over time. That's just how the vast majo…

They are far more important. Don't speak on things you don't understand. Compliments from family from a young age are immensely important to building long term sense of self worth into adulthood.

I've never been the type of person that people compliment. Not even your family? Your parents? If your own family never supported you or helped build your self esteem, then it's definitely time to see a therapist or at least read some books on attachment styles and how you can build self esteem as an adult.

There's a few others, but misogyny is the big one. It was way worse when I started using Reddit in ~2010. The user base was probably ~70-80% men back then and you couldn't pushback against the misogyny even a little bit without a hundred downvotes. Hell, r/ theredpill was a straight up sadism against women hobby group at the time, where dudes would brag about abusing their wives/girlfriends openly. What does this have to do with red pill? Abstinence from masturbation isn't necessarily bad, but it's usually based on pseudoscience. Using the term PMO tells me you're deep into the nofap pseudoscience. Giving up video porn I great, but it's fine to masturbate to your own imagination or to erotic stories. The claims nofappers and religious sources make about brain chemicals is nonsense. Yeah, masturbation releases endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin... but not an unhealthy amount. No more than …

I don't think you can undo your awareness, but you can teach yourself that someone's looking at you is meaningless without context. Some people have adhd or just zone out a lot and their eyes tend to track movement. Some people have outward focus and look at everyone around them. Some people are hyper keyed in on fashion so they're always checking out other people's clothes. You can't really guess why random strangers are looking at you or what they're thinking about when they do so. If it's som…

Yup. idk why you said that like you're contradicting me. Leagues are a social construct, and therefore do "exist" to some extent if everyone involved enforces them. So yeah.. Most likely Margo Robbie is going to enforce those leagues and not date people like me. But, some much smaller number of random hot celebrities date super regular guys/women. The same is true for non-celebrities. Just because something is a social construct, doesn't mean it's not real. Military hierarchies are social constr…

So I'm arguing it is not a social construct, it's just a quick way to talk about how much attractive qualities a person has. I think you're misunderstanding what a social construct is. What people find attractive, at a fine grain level, is a social construct. It's changed over time and varies by culture. For example people in some African nations find heavier people more attractive than others cultures because of the effect of their AIDS epidemic. People in the middle ages thought fat nobles wer…

Glad I could help, even just a bit. In hindsight, I feel like I didn't emphasize just how much I'd raz one of my friends if they were like this. Especially in my 20s. There's no way I'd just rationally tell him to date in his league. I'd just make jokes at his expense every time his dating life came up. Lol. Leagues are a social construct, and therefore do "exist" to some extent if everyone involved enforces them. Red pill goes serval steps further and tries to explain leagues with biological determinism and other nonsense. The reality is that none of that quackery about genetics is true. But, many people do follow these social contructs, so it's not helpful to ignore them entirely. For me personally, I don't like to think of things on those terms, because they're limiting. Realistically, I would be comfortable with ANY woman who was with less than 35 people. After that I would start to question intentions and how she views relationships. And The majority of women I know are definitely over 10 by this point (which is fine, no judgement) I just have no idea what their totals are So, most women you know have slept with some number of people that's higher than 10 and you don't have an issue if they've slept with under 35... From what I see, in real life, not on social media, men around me are dating women that seem to not be as attractive as them. The amount of in shape or even just average built men I see dating fat women is exponentially more than the inverse. I see the exact opposite of this every day. That's a very small minority. The vast majority of heterosexual and bi women find a range of men attractive, not just the most conventionally attractive men. Most "average" guy are dating just fine. Some people say that, but not all of them here. You're also erasing all of the context people give. Others say something more like: "personality can more than make up the difference if someone finds you a little attractive." So there has to be a little physical attraction to start, but a great personality can grow that attraction. This is usually said in response to incels who thinks no woman will ever like them because they're not in the top 20% of conventionally physically attractive men.

If that's the case, then you have nothing to worry about. Women like that, who tried for serious relationships a few times but things didn't work out will be very common. Even in your early 20s, many women are in relationships. Eventually some of those relationships end for various reasons. In the US you're going to see a lot of women migrating to states with better laws. Not that every or even most can. A lot of people already move to larger cities especially post college. If you don't care about all the social stigma around using sex workers, then why do you care about the social stigma of being considered an incel? Being an incel is something you have to self identify as to be anyway. Plenty of men and women are technically involuntarily celibate without participating in the incel community. There aren't that many women around compared to men, especially at the age that most military men are, and a fair number of the available women are there to get married, get pregnant, and get on the benefits. Military life has a huge number of drawbacks and downsides. Dating is certainly one of them. Many…

Ad hominem is an attack on someone's character instead of their arguments. Did you mean straw-man? With the exception of the line about acting like a 13 year old girl, I don't see anything close to ad hominem. Though, I think even that is not an ad hominem, but instead showing hypocritical action in contrast to Rollo's advice. Regarding hypergamy - he's wife was in a relationship with a radiologist and left the guy for Rollo. And that is a quintessential example of the fallacy of faulty generali…

That women don't like men they can control. And they like men who are liked by other women. So I refuse to give my gf my social media password and refuse to stop talking to other girls. First of all, don't give anyone your passwords so that they can spy on you. That's abusive controlling behavior. Don't put up with that shit. Second, do you mean "literally talk to any women" or "talk" as in "flirt with"? If your ex wasn't allowing you talk to women in a platonic way, that's also abuse. If she di…

There are other good answers here, so I'm not going to say much that hasn't been said, But I can try to summarize and explain in depth. Basically, most single women don't want to feel like a guy is only into them because he's desperate. They want to feel like he's into them because he likes them as individuals, their looks, personality, and everything else. Being somewhat aloof and not overly interested accomplishes this. Of course she has to be interested in him in other ways as well. Take two …

A single study is doesn't mean much. Science works on consensus, of a majority of experts within a field, which often takes many studies and much meta analysis. I'm sure that are many studies that show that relationships with partners with high emotional intelligence do better. Why are you anxious about her leaving you for your height, but not for your emotional intelligence? Specifically, the whole notion that my girlfriend would probably be happier with a taller man, and that she might realize…

I've read on women saying that women have raised their expectations and desire a man that "adds value to their lives" and this genuinely losses me The easiest way to explain this is to think about what women saying this are trying to avoid. In the past a lot of women put up with men who put very little effort into a relationship. Imagine a guy who didn't plan dates or try to make them fun or put in any emotional labor, etc. women would be frustrated, but try to change those dudes into someone wh…

Why though? Why do you think that person is more likely to attract women? A far as I've seen, in real life, women much more prefer the attractive guy with a great empathy and emotional intelligence. I'm wondering if this is one of the big flaws in your logic. That a woman is going to pine after these "alpha male chads." As far as I've seen, those guys don't do half as well with women as the more sensitive emotional guys who also happen to be attractive. Like take the same guy, imagine he's very …

Your first set of questions are more complicated and I may answer them when I have more time, but I can answer the second thing pretty easily. Like although I have no experience if I was to gain some I’d want to start causally first before committing to someone. Is that wrong? No it's not wrong. And it is similar, but not the same. A lot of the same qualities still apply. You can become a great "partner" for a night of fun instead of or in addition to a great partner for a long term relationship…

Women want to be entirely equal to men, but not in relationships-they just get to sit around and look pretty while men do everything: initiate sex, dates, the works This is in your head. This is made up. You don't have experience with women, so what are you basing this on? Nothing valid, because it's false. My girlfriend asked me out. She initiates sex as much or more than I do. Secondly, most people who grow more attracted to their partner over time have some attraction to begin with. There are several studies that suggest that, yes. But, it has no bearing on what I said. As the majority of women are still straight and don't have fluid sexualities, and the number of bisexual men is only marginally smaller. There are also notable flaws with many of these studies. Some people have fluid sexualities, but generally women don't just become lesbians. Generally those women were either bi or lesbians in denial or in secret beforehand. The same holds true for men who "become gay," they were either bi or gay the whole time and either didn't realize it or were hiding it because of familial or societal pressures and dangers. Some bi women do identify as lesbians because trauma from men has made them no longer interested in men in practical terms. For example a bi w…

I'm just trying to explain established science to you. Plenty of studies still show women prefer men who are dominant, make more (have more resources) and are physically fit. This may be true, but connecting that to neolithic humans via evolutionary psychology is not accepted by current science. Again, I'm not debating. I'm just explaining. It doesn't matter. It's made up story, just like every other convenient story about neolithic humans used by evolutionary psychology to explain modern human behavior. We don't have a time machine to see which one is right. Just because one story about neolithic humans seems more common sense, doesn't mean it actually happened that way. You've never addressed the fact that many physically ugly men date just fine. If so many ugly men are dating, getting married, and having one night stands, how can it be possible that is someone's only issue? If being ugly made it impossible for you to date, why didn't it for them?

My former roommate was a self identified incel when I met him. He was 20 very nearly 21 at the time. Through a long series of conversations and socialization with my friend/neighbor group he eventually came out of his shell. Eventually he started dating and such (by age 23). Along the way he did therapy. It was a piece of the puzzle for him. Eventually he was referred to a psychiatrist who diagnosed him with OCD. He also dealt with a lot of unresolved issues concerning his druggie neglectful par…

It's a weird bit of psychology that people tend to feel more guilty for merely appearing to do wrong than when they actually do wrong on purpose. When we do wrong on purpose, we tend to use our justifications and motivations for the actions to shield ourselves from guilt. This leaves us in a weird spot when there is a real chance we might do wrong on accident. It's a difficult situation for most people. The best thing I've found is to ask myself if I'm taking "reasonable precautions" against acc…

I'm not really sure. I can tell you Maryland is better than Pennsylvania. I would imagine much of western Europe is better than the US, as they have stricter discrimination laws and better family leave. As to individual countries, that's not my area of expertise.

We'll before we get into this conversation you should look up the difference between equity and equality. People tend to use them interchangeably, but they shouldn't. Feminism is, in general, seeking equity and not equality for people of any gender.

It's about feeling like I'm worthy of someone's affection. That doesn't come from external sources, like women telling you they like you That can only come from within. External validation can reinforce self-worth, but it can't replace it. There are lots of people who are told they're attractive that feel the same way you do. Again, because self-worth comes from the self, not external sources. You're seeking something in the wrong way to cure a feeling that it won't cure. No one here can help yo…

One of the things that makes the red pill such a hard thing to combat is that it's a multi-headed hydra so to speak. By that I mean that there is more than one type of red-piller. Primarily there are two groups. The first group is made up of men with low sexual and dating experience (many of which identify or have identified as incels). The second group is made up of very controlling men who worship traditional masculinity. There is quite a bit of overlap between the groups, and they don't accou…

What people are saying is true about dopamine, but I'd also posit that there is a often a mild depression that accompanies accomplishing anything that you've obsessed over for years. It really doesn't matter that the relationship sort of fell into your lap or that you had stopped obsessing over it before it happened. Two facts are undeniably true. First, that you spent years anxiously obsessed with getting into a relationship; and second, that you're in one now. It's just a weird bit of psycholo…

Yeah basically, and make small adjustments as you go. You essentially make yourself as attractive as you can be: dress, style, grooming, as well as personality stuff. Then you figure out where women who might like guys like you are, then go hang out and try to show yourself off. Then ask them out. Rinse and repeat until you have a girlfriend. Then try to build a healthy relationship.

How do you make friends or get a job or literally anything else where a human chooses another human for a role? None of those things have formulas. There are good practices, and rules of thumb, but at the end of the day sometimes the dude who looks like a bum can get the bartending gig, or the douchey frat boy has a lot of friends, or the asshole finds girls who are into him. Notice that the idea that "she'd never date you" is entirely internal. Those women haven't given you any indication of how they feel about you, so that idea is actually yourself talking to and about yourself. Basically, you have low self-esteem and don't think you're attractive, so you project that thought onto anyone you think is attractive. I'm going to guess you just don't think you're very attractive yourself. That voice inside your head saying, "she doesn't find me attractive," that's your voice saying that. You don't have access to these women's thoughts, just your own thoughts. You might think that the answer to this is to get external validation. The answer to this question is pretty multifaceted. Firstly, being confident gets you to try more. A guy who is confident in his ability to talk to women is going to talk to more women, and thus even if the number of women attracted to him doesn't go up, the number that actually know that he's interested goes up. If there's 100 women around you, and 15 of them think your cute, but you only talk to 3 of them, your odds are really low. The odds go way up if you talk to 50 of them instead. Secondly…

You'll just have to vet women during the beginning stages of dating. That's a normal thing to do and a good skill to have. For example: on about the 2ndish date tell her a story of a time you experienced something like a difficult time getting an erection (doesn't have to be exactly that). Watch her reaction. Agreed, for the most part. Often times though, it's not about how mature or not the 18 year old is, it's about the middle aged person perceiving them as naive and manipulatable. To illustrate: a very mature 18yo gets talked up by a 35yo. The 35yo doesn't even notice that the 18 year old is mature for their age. The 35yo just assumes they're going to be naive and easy to manipulate and abuse. The 35yo being an abuser hides those intentions well, like most abusers do, and they get together. The 18…

Not everything that's legal is moral. It's creepy the vast majority of the time. Middle aged women with 18 year old boys too. I think maybe there are rare cases where people of those ages just hit it off and there's no advantage being taken, but those cases are very rare. I'd always error on the side of it being creepy. Again, I'm not advocating for making it illegal. Legal adulthood has to start somewhere. But, it should certainly be discouraged and called out socially.

I believe feminism (actual one, because i like some feminist ideas too) has damaged men and masculinity. I disagree. Both on a personal level, and observing society as a whole, feminism helps men who actually accept it. Men who try to hold onto their traditional roles and who think they are superior and should be favored by society are the only ones losing out, and they can get fucked. Men who genuinely want equity with women and who want to live happy healthy lives have benefited massively from…

I wish I could see the person you were responding to's comment, but he deleted it. I guess my response is that it's all about reasonable responses to actual possibilities and their actual probabilities. It's not a bad thing at all to protect yourself from the various harms a partner or spouse can do to you. OP worries that due to the statistical 70% divorce rate being initiated by women (again I'm just coming from word of mouth don't quote) is simply because women get bored and they lose nothing by divorcing. My understanding of modern arranged marriage is that it's not insanely different than western dating for rather religious people. The typical "alpha bad boy" is a miserable dick head. Your jealousy of him is totally misplaced. A few girls might swoon over him, but he's never going to be in a loving satisfying relationship. You need to be a pleaser to yourself. Be the kind of friend to yourself that you are to other people. Stop comparing yourself to others.…

This was a direct response to Racerboy427, so I don't know if you need to take a critical thinking class. Generally everyone could use lessons in critical thinking, because fallacious reasoning and biases are everywhere. People are naturally very bad at avoiding them, so it's useful to learn how to avoid them better.

Dating apps are skewed by the shear number of men. The ratio fucks you over. With the IRL interactions: Maybe the women you think are ugly can tell you think lesser of them and it puts them off. Maybe it's your additude. Maybe it's your personality. Maybe these women you think are ugly are more attractive to different dudes that are more attractive to these women than you. The biggest problem you have is thinking attractiveness is objective and linear. It's not. It has objective elements, but it…

That seems fair to some extent. I went to a traditional University and it did provide me with a lot of social opportunities. Once you're 21 you can just go to bars and whatnot to meet more people (not just for dates, I mean a whole social life). Or find other places people do things. Right now I do most of my socializing through board game nights and playing disc golf, but i don't know if those things appeal to young people.

Just FYI: Introversion means you recharge alone. Extroverstion means you recharge by socializing. So, introverts are equally capable of being amiable and personable. They just need to take breaks to mentally recharge. you still won't be sexually desired if your partner doesn't find you physically attractive Just because someone isn't the hottest person they've ever seen doesn't mean they don't find you somewhat attractive. My girlfriend isn't the hottest woman I've ever dated, but she's still at…

You have a personality. How do you become more personable? Well, to start... How do you get better at anything? You work at it. You make more friends. You put effort in to socializing. You organize get togethers. You practice and pay attention when someone else does it well and learn from them. You figure out your own personal individual problems that have kept you from being a personable person and you figure out how to deal with them. Maybe that just requires introspection and effort to change…

Cool. That's your choice. But don't pretend like you had to be born handsome to attract women. The option to work on your personality and have dating success was open to you, but you just chose not to take it. It was too much work or whatever. That's fine. Personally, I'd be much more jealous of regular guys who have meaningful fulfilling relationships, if I were you. But, to each their own. You do you, homie. Just leave the rest of us alone, if that's the path you choose to take.

Very true. Also: Sarah has a couple of girlfriends who have the same Steve/Stu dynamic, like you said, but the rest of her 8-20 friends are in relationships with Mikes. Mike is a guy who is neither a cad nor a delusional hanger-on. Mike's just a guy who dates exclusively. He's not perfect, and he's been through breakups, but generally he's just a regular but amiable dude. I feel that love is shallow I honestly think that nothing replaces the primitive sparks of attraction. I don't want to believe in that, how do I think the opposite? This is a very confusing question. Those things aren't in contradiction. You can genuinely be in love and also have that primitive spark of attraction. They aren't mutually exclusive. The can exist independently, but in other cases can be complimentary. Shallowness is market by a lack of multi-facetedness. Physical attraction is only…

Self-esteem is binary. It's whether we think that we are good enough or not. And humans are extremely bad at knowing how others perceive them, so a majority of people with low self-esteem see themselves as "not good enough" despite the fact that the majority of people around them don't see them that way. Self-esteem is a trap. Trying to reach that imaginary threshold can be impossible, because for most people they will just move their own goalposts. If they do things that should make them good e…

As if the envious person in the scenario is the dude who abandoned his own kid(s) or couldn't hold down a relationship with the mother of his children. It depends on the bar. Often times it also depends on the time of day and day of the week as well. Is the venue primarily for socializing? That's usually a good indicator that it's a good place for that. Also, people who don't want to be bothered will give off that vibe. The whole pill terminology needs to go. The idea of "secret knowledge" that changes you forever needs to end. It's conspiracy theory thinking. It's harmful. The original idea, from the matrix movie, was cool because it was about a virtual reality. Re-posting this from the last time this was discussed: The field of Evolutionary Psychology is very controversial and much of it is denounced as pseudoscience by psychologists broadly. It's not that evo psych has no explanatory value, but it has much less explanatory power than many try to give it credit for. The kind of evo psych explanations that the redpill makes are precisely the sort that it doesn't have the power to make. One can't simply make up a story that kinda sounds right about neo…

If you've reached this age without success, you've almost certainly tried this and it hasn't worked. Idk, maybe you've tried this, but I've known a lot of guys who are in your situation and actually never really tried any of those things. They think they have, but their definitions of those things are very different then what people are actually suggesting with that advice. My experience is that guys, and even women, who are in that situation will do anything besides actually working on their pe…

Maybe it's because I'm old and slightly autistic, but bar hopping to me is moving from dive bar to gastropub back to dive bar. I've literally never enjoyed a venue that had a DJ. I like to talk to people, to joke and laugh and make human connections. How do you do that at a club? Dance up on someone and then meet them in the bathroom? Yeah, that's a no from me. Even if we're being "degenerate" I'd rather smoke weed out behind the building then drop MDMA or do stimulants in a toilet stall. I'd ra…

Self help has been a part of cults and toxic groups for forever. Look into the yoga cults of the 90s. They were all about getting their members into shape and getting them to be successful. Then once the members were really committed all the terrible sex stuff and abuse starts happening. When an ideology helps you become physically healthier and financially or personally successful, you're not going to question any of the bad stuff they say and do down the road. You're going to feel better and h…

Just embrace the moment. It's normal behavior to have butterflies. People in the 1700-1800s would check the mail all the damn time waiting for a letter from their new paramore. In the age of texting, we check our messages on our phone. Over time that will fade as y'all get used to one another. While it's happening, just let it be a reminder of how joyous life is. Smile to yourself. If you didn't give a fuck, that'd be depressing. Still, playing it somewhat cool is a good thing. People want someo…

From a safety perspective, some lifestyles are “better” than others i.e. Risk of disease, pregnancy, rape and being killed. This is "highly controversial" and easily debunked. By "highly controversial" I simply mean mostly wrong. Sleeping with even dozens of people does not increase the risk of any of these things by any significant amount for people who use condoms. Period. That's uncontroversial. Condoms don't have an effect on abuse, but neither does casual sex. Marriage and long term relatio…

I'm not saying most people. I'm saying a "high rate of failure." Most people would be more than 50%. 10% is still a high rate of failure. Especially when other birth control and STI prevention methods are well below 1%. Just Google abstinence failure rates. Read the first 4ish things that come up. Educate yourself. I'm not a rper or some nonsense. You're adding shit to what I'm saying. I'm providing purely uncontroversial facts. Plain and simple. Yes, you may be able to abstain no problem. That'…

This is such a ridiculous take that I am not even going to bother addressing. It is well known and well studied that abstinence is a horrible method for birth control or STD control. You can dismiss it out of hand all you want, but it just makes you look incredibly ignorant. People who attempt to be abstinent from sex often fail, and when they do they tend not to use condoms. That's very non controversial.
/r/ExRedPill29/09/23 05:35 PM

The risk is incredibly minimal in today's day in age for STIs, if you use condoms. You shouldn't be any more worried than someone who has sex on once or twice. Sure, the odds go up a lot, but if something is near zero and increases by 8 times, it can still be near zero. The same goes for pregnancy with two forms of birth control, i.e. condoms plus and IUD or the pill. Considering one lifestyle "better" in that sense is basically a technicality. There is also the fact that abstinence has a failur…

For "personality" that does not matter unless the person was already attracted to you. You wouldn't want your lawyer to look "homeless" no matter how qualified he is or what experience he is. I don't know why people get so agitated when you correct them. Doesn't striving to be better require corrections? Since you appreciate being corrected, allow me to explain. It feels derailing and unrelated to the conversation when you correct someone like that. There are better ways to do it. Like at the end of your reply instead of the beginning. Also, with purposeful politeness. Some corrections are things that people seem to not know and need correcting on, and some aren't. For instance, if I…

How am I supposed to participate in a relationship without being in one? I meant relationships in the general sense. Not just romantic relationships. Your friendships and relationships with family and coworkers and acquaintances etc. That's how anyone who has never been in a romantic relationship gets the social skills necessary to be in one. Humans don't just come with social skills baked in, they have to develop them continuously throughout the course of their whole life. Also, then i guess in…

This argument makes no sense because not all those who appreciate F1 drivers have to be best drivers I wasn't making an argument. I was explaining something. Here's an argument: As to your metaphor it's a bad one. The women aren't looking for someone who appreciates relationships, a fan of racing. They're looking for someone who's good at them, a driver. A driver here is someone who actively participates in relationships. So it makes no sense to say you don't socialize much but you appreciate so…

It obviously did matter 2000 years ago Stop getting your history from action movies. Most of our ancestors weren't Roman leginaires. They were simple subsistence farmers. Their ability to plan for an extra harsh winter was far more important than their "dominance." Soldier classes had less children and died younger in every pre-industrial society. Being strong "dominant" types helped protect the collective at the expense of their own genes being passed on. In early pre-history, 10,000 years befo…

Why there is not a strong movement who just teaches you to be happy with yourself and find the person who makes you happy? A few things come to mind. First, feminism is a movement in response to oppression. Some of it is about being happy with yourself and finding someone who makes you happy, but largely simply being happy isn't enough to fight systemic oppression. To a large degree you need to get angry in order to fight back against those systems. Being "exigent and aggressive" is necessary, t…

Not that toxic masculinity and advice on how to manipulate women didn't exist in the 80s and 90s, but the specific red pill movement didn't come about at least until the mid to late 2000s. If many redpillers are getting laid with (many) women because they use abuse tactics this means that you're considering (many) women as weak and broken. Repillers aren't getting laid with "many" women. I never said "many" in regards to women, just in regards to redpillers. They are getting laid. That doesn't mean that the redpillers are players or some such. They generally have the average number for partners for their age. I also don't think that "many" women are weak or broken. Some are vulner…

Many redpillers aren't incels at all. A good number of them are abusers that use abuse to manipulate women and girls into sexual relationships and to keep them there through a cycle of psychological abuse. There are a lot of incels who are also red pillers, or watch red pill content. They make up a good portion too, but it's hard to say which is the majority. Many incels also skip the red pill and go right to the black pill (a similar cult that's more nihilistic and suicide idealizing). Assuming…

A lot of people, honestly maybe the majority of people, are under the false impression that healthy debate works like the purple pill. It simply does not. Healthy debate isn't two sides of an issue hashing it out. There aren't "two sides" to every issue. Giving two pollar extremes equal measure and consideration only ends, at best, with the fallacy of the golden mean. In real measured debate, aimed at either seeking the truth or solving a problem, participants quickly abandon bad ideas to sharpe…

all the men i've crossed paths with that have RP-adjacent/PUA mentality have all been good-looking, seemingly well-adjusted prior to being radicalised To be fair, the question was about the incel mindset, not about RPers in general. A fair number of RPers are incels, especially recently, but many aren't. The ones you seem to have encountered are the non-incels. In the history of the red pill, this was actually the first group. I worked at 12ish school districts in VA and PA (so being East Coast US is a bias) in rural (VA), suburban (both Va and PA), and urban (Philly) areas. Society expects men to protect women, to not be driven by their emotions, to show restraint and temperance. "be a man" is used to pressure men to generally make sacrifices. Yeah, and sometimes society over pressures men in these ways. Sometimes men are pressured to be over-protective to the point of controlling. Sometimes men are pressured to suppress their emotions to the point where it's harmful (in fact suppressing your emotions all the time just is very harmful). Making unnecessary sacrifice…

My first thought is that you'd have to control for age. Like, obviously an 18 year old who has only had one sexual partner is less likely to have cheated than a 30 year old who has had five sexual partners. The 18 year old literally hasn't had as much time to cheat yet if they are going to. Since most 18-20 year olds are either virgins or have only had one partner, that's going to really skew the numbers if you don't correct for it. There's also the simple fact that cheaters are more likely to h…

Marriages come with all kinds of expectations and social pressures that relationships don't have. That's the most important bit. But, yes, the ability to walk away from a relationship without all the legal hassle is also important. depression, working out is a good medicine. The problem for a lot of men is that purely lifting weights isn't the best way to do that. Idk if all red pill guys have thought loops and rituals. OCD is a very specific mental health disorder. I'm loathed to using it for someone who wasn't specifically diagnosed. Instead I'd say that they can become very neurotic and obsessed. They do fixate on their sexual or romantic relationships. But, it usually doesn't rise to OCD. Maybe your specific partner had OCD, I can't speak to that, but we shouldn't be using that language for them in a general sense.

I guess, for context, I meant it's weird to live in a western society (or any of the various Asian, African, South American, etc. places where it's normalized to have mixed gendered friendships... Yeah, sure, but it's certainly shouldn't be the default. There's also men who prefer to let their partner take the "lead" so to speak. If it's mutually consenting, of course it's up to them. I still think it's risky. Living your life with that much of a power imbalance is a very risky endeavor. Just look around at all the women who get divorces because their husband is a controlling dickbag. Why is there particular pressures on men to behave and think in certain ways? If those pressures stopped existing or none of them were harmful, then toxic masculinity would cease to be a useful term. But, they do exist, so it is useful. OPs examples are wrong and confusing. Toxic masculinity isn't just anything toxic a man does, it's the toxic things that come out of the pressures and expectations society puts on men. So, for example if a guy gets body dismorphia because he thinks being super mu…

Masculinity is the cultural expectations and roles given to men to perform by their society both their family/local common and society more broadly. Toxic masculinity is therefore simply those expectations and roles which are harmful either to the men who are expected to perform them or those around them. A husband leading his wife This is pretty toxic. Your wife needs a partner, not a "leader." A marriage isn't a military campaign. It's a partnership. It requires compromise and equality. A marriage where one person has the final say and not the other is a psychologically abusive marriage. Share the lead. Take turns. No one should be making unilateral decisions.

Most women aren't poly. Most people don't put up with cheating. Even if those women aim for more attractive men, eventually all the above average guys will get taken. The above average guys are mostly monogamous anyway. Eventually, the average and below average girls will get with average and below average guys. This has happened in every generation since women have had sexual freedom. Besides, most of the guys you are talking about aren't failing because of their looks. Ugly guys find partners …

This is something I honestly don't envy women on at all. For (straight/bi) guys women rarely do this. It does happen, but it's rare. I don't think they talk about empathy directly. I think they prey upon men with low empathy and give advice that lowers empathy. They solicit young men with low self esteem and blame women for their problems. The constant blaming dehumanizes and others women in these young men's eyes, making them less and less empathetic towards women. They then provide a solution to this: be hyper masculine and dehumanize any men who aren't hyper masculine. Now they're dehumanizing and losing empathy for 90% of…

Everything is dualism you have to stay in the center. This is the fallacy of the golden mean aka the fallacy of moderation. Recently people have referred to it as "enlightened centrism." People who have kids together can't unilaterally decide how their kids are raised. That would make them very terrible partners and parents. If you raise kids together you both get input. My evidence for this is that you've posted this similar thing over and over again on various subs. Who would want to date someone who acts like that let alone fuck them? Those aren't the actions of someone who is smart, amiable, or stable. You need a therapist and a psychiatrist. Stop posting this sh…

I also watched red pill form. Back in 2011ish it was literally just a forum for abusers to talk shop. I remember vividly a guy go on about how he "had no time for safe words" with his wife. Then, as you mentioned, around 2013 the PUA community sort of fused with it. Then around 2015, they picked up a lot of the "don't tread on me" MGTOW guys too. It was wild watching it go from this really niche group of sadists to a supergroup of misogynists.

Either you think it's bad, and re therefore being judgemental of people who do it. Or you don't think it's bad, and aren't. I don't think you're being malicious, but you're still being judgemental.

I’m not saying they’re bad all the time. Maybe they can lead to amazing relationships. They can be good even if they don't lead to relationships at all. Maybe they aren't for you personally, but your comment says that no one should do it. That is very judgemental of people who are different than yourself, even if you didn't mean it like that. Which, from context it seems like you did. Monogamous relationships can lead to long term abuse. They aren't magically better than casual relationships. Th…

Why do redpill "opinions" bother you? It bothers me because it's not a matter of opinion. Whether something is harmful or not isn't a matter of opinion. It's a matter of fact. It bothers me because real people are harmed by similar "opinions." People like me. So, you "keep moving." You jerk.

Casual hook-ups absolutely can be harmful. But it's far from the truth to say that they all are. I've had casual hook-ups that were amazing and life affirming and just plain fun for both parties. I've also been in abusive serious relationships. Not casual at all and also extremely harmful. It's honestly really sad coming to the comments and see you make a statement that you believe something that is as false and toxic as any redpill statement, when your post was so good. It's disheartening.

or have been in a toxic relationship Don't most men who have been in multiple relationships have this same experience? I sure do. The woman I lost my virginity to was a toxic nightmare. She pressured me into sex I didn't want to have. She lied about breaking up with her ex so that I would get with her. She wasn't just cheating with me but with at least one other guy, who I knew. She was able to lie, cajole, and manipulate at least three guys with her toxic crap at the same time. There are a lot …

For instance I used to be a big nba fan, but a lot of the race talk about the reasons why someone would vote Nikola Jokic "White guy," for mvp just takes me completely out of it. Pointing out that MVP voters might favor Jokic because he's white is not anti-white, it's an attempt at being anti-racist. Now, that attempt might be a bad one. Maybe the MVP voters don't have that bais, or maybe Jokic is so much better than Embiid and Gianis that even if the MVP voters do have a racial bias toward Joki…

Almost all redpillers are traditionalists. Most traditionalists are conservative or further right politically than conservative. Some redpillers are centrists, liberals, socialists, etc, but rather few comparatively. They're still mostly traditionalists though.

I assume you meant "cold" approaching in person. The vast majority of people meet significant others through family and friends (or acquaintances and co-workers). Let's call this "warm" approaching. That's a good option. Most people start a monogamous relationship to have sex, even if that relationship is short. Dating apps don't work now that they're owned by only a couple of companies. OK cupid is how I met my partner, but their practices have changed a lot since then. They aren't advisable. C…

Ok... That's fine too. If you want to experience sex, don't complain that you're "gonna be an incel virgin forever." If you have a goal, e.g. having sex, make a good plan and follow through with all the steps of that plan. How do other people have sex? Well, they find someone else who wants to have sex with them. So, either make a good plan on how to look for people who want to have sex with you and/or improve yourself so more people will want to have sex with you. How much do you actually get p…

Totally agree. I'd take it a step further. A lot of men are socialized to be unempathetic in general and it has a profound effect on how they treat sex, i.e. selfishly. A guy who is taught to "man up" and to not "feel sorry for himself" and that vulnerability is weakness in his early years will project that outward. He will think of others not as emotional creatures who need understanding, but as weak individuals who need to take care of themselves. This will fundamentally make him less capable …

Men should be wearing condoms and also I would advise men not to have sex with someone they’re not willing to have kids with but that’s going to offend folks with delicate sensibilities. My partner and I agree on staying child free for life. She has an IUD, which is more effective than BC pills or condoms. We still used condoms in the beginning though. The man can maximize his genes by fathering children through many women. So he has an incentive to cheat. That's the theory. Let's be clear in our language. This isn't a theory, it's an unverified and unverifiable hypothesis. I could counter with an equally compelling narrative that men maximize their genes by having less children but having more time to raise them to be for and survive until sexual maturity. It's a bit more complex than that. Men are actually more likely to be the targets of violent crime. More likely to be assaulted, mugged, or murdered. They're less likely to be sexually assaulted, but that doesn't come close to closing the gap in terms of the totality of violent crime. Yet, it's still an unlikely event for anyone. The pressure to stay home or be afraid in public for men is about on par with how risky the activity actually is. For women it's hugely outsized. The real double standa…

I get where it comes from, but a lot of feminism and a literature in wording around it seems to always imply that the woman is the inherent victim and the man is the inherent perpetrator. I don't know what you are reading, but nothing I've read has ever had this connotation. This language of victim and perpetrator is a common charcaracture used by misogynistic authors and pundits against feminism. It's not the actual content of any actual feminist writers of note. Try to internalize the truth. Crying is good for you. It's normal and healthy. If your partner is upset with you for crying occasionally, they are an abusive partner. There are two sides to redpill. The first is teaching inexperienced men a bunch of bullshit about "alphas" and "betas" and 80/20 rules etc. The second is a playbook on how to abuse a woman to keep her with you. Incel subs drive women incels out of them. The term incel was coined by a woman to describe herself and others, and originally those communities were much more inclusive. Over time the most toxic men in those communities made those environments inhospitable for women to participate. Looking at those communities and seeing very few if any women is not indicative of the number of women who actually feel like they'll never find a partner.
