Isn't it sad that the only reason we even need separate changing rooms is because men literally refuse to control themselves and they can't be trusted.

This fired me up. I was dating a guy like this and one day he had the gall to make a comment about the Bejeweled game on my phone asking if it was a good use of my time when I used it to blow off steam. He literally spent HOURS a day on instagram and followed hundreds of random attractive women and even left comments like "Stunning!" And "Beautiful" as if these women would ever actually give him the time of day. He'll learn too late one day when he's hit the wall and is finally ready to settle d…

Same, I have to think about what is influencing my mood (hormones, work stress, hunger) because I tend to feel more intensely than others.

Wow. I never saw it that way. When we doubt ourselves we go to the guy for clarification because cOmMuNiCaTiOn and of course he makes us feel like we're ridiculous bc they're always lying and rinse and repeat!

Came across some dude's profile and it said "only boring people are bored" and he ruined it for a lot of guys after him bc my newest rule became "anyone who says they're just on here for the quarantine/bc they're bored" gets an auto-swipe-left. I'm not a clown and I'm not here to entertain anyone.

Omg we should not feel bad for this. Just the other day someone sent me a meme video of a guy leaving his "cheating girlfriend" on the side of the road and everyone thought it was the most hilarious, karmic thing even though she wasn't even somewhere with a shelter for miles (it was the desert??) and inherently more vulnerable than a man. But hey, we're not people right?? 🤡

Great advice. Another big big thing to add to the list is - any mental health struggles!! I used to be an open book about that and it never served me well. BONDING OVER MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES ISN'T CUTE, especially early on. I have always felt a shift in power dynamic when bringing up something from this list.

PSA: For anyone on fakebook, there is a wonderful group called The Solo Female Traveler Network and they have a lovely community. I'm not big on meet-ups but did it once with a woman also solo traveling in a new city and had a great time! Everyone is welcome.

I come from a family of critical people and it's been really hard unlearning, especially criticism towards myself. It's so exhausting to be around it now, I usually respond with "damn let people live" or I tell them that they are being really negative and it's hard to be around them. I'm super wary of and will not be friends with "bandwagoners" who always want to complain or who will take my venting and try to make a big thing out of it. Best to just let these things go. I noticed a huge improve…

I love eavesdropping lol. I was on a long layover in a big city and took myself out for drinks and eavesdropped on the CRINGIEST tinder date ever. It was appalling and hilarious at the same time. Unfortunately she was never alone otherwise I would've been like come on, really?? The guy said stuff like "I talk to people 20, 30 years older than me and they're amazed with what I've accomplished." "I'm gonna make it one day and you're either with me or against me." Etc.

Yeah that should always be the standard! Because eventually the question is, is being with this person better than being on my own? And if you cultivate your own garden well (hobbies, self-care, personal and professional achievements) that answer is usually no.

I wouldn't consider that being screwed over, rather her getting her investment back. If I contribute to someone's mortgage I expect all of that money returned to me if the relationship terminates at any point.

TIL Thank you for the opal tip, I was really considering it. Edit: apparently this is an issue with hydrophane opals (such as most of the ones produced in Ethiopia.) Australian opals do not absorb water. The issue with water is them absorbing it and cracking.

Exactly! The anxiety is detrimental to your health. I'm so glad you walked away. Better single and carefree than with someone who makes you feel like an animal in a cage.

I confronted him about it after I couldn't take it anymore and he was like "why are you stalking me, that's weird." Um okay bc the stuff you're doing isnt. When we broke up I brought it up again and he said "yeah it always bothered me that you knew that/noticed that." And I was like yeah well it always bothered me that I did have a shred of security in the relationship! You think I like fucking scrolling through your followers or activity like I have nothing better to do than give myself anxiety…

💯 it's absolutely cheating. I had an ex who was getting ready to move to another country for a new job and before he even left he was following random girls from random parts of that country. No wonder it made me feel sick, because it is sick.

I went on two dates with this weasely dude who was oversexual and then had to block him bc he would not stop trying to invite me over to his dad's house (late 20s and "looking for his dream job") for afternoon delight" (🤮) bc it was somewhat close to where I worked and daddy was at work. Recently he found me on Facebook and requested me. I swear they are LITERAL cockroaches.

I've said a couple cool/deep things in casual convo and this guy is like "did you just make that up? Is it from reddit?" Lmfao yeah isn't it weird how I had an idea NOT regurgitated from the internet? Also talking about tv shows (as topical as they are in quarantine) is such a false connection I actively avoid it now. Oh he likes your favorite show? So do literally millions of people, stop it.

THIS. I project so hard. I've gotten better about thinking it through critically though... "oh I had a great time chatting with X today" and then I'm like "actually I had a great time telling someone about my interests and laughing at my own jokes. Tbh X is pretty boring." How cool (and terrifying) would it be if we could train a personal AI to talk to us like us?

I think it's ok to take space for yourself. However, over 30 min is selfish or disordered. My LVM ex used to do this for like 40 min at a time and I could see him liking shit on Instagram and all it told me was that he was trying to get away from me despite us only spending weekends together.🙄

My NVM ex couldn't wash a dish properly to save his life. Couldn't figure out where they went despite squatting in my apartment for 2 years. Would regularly put back dirty dishes that the dishwasher hadn't cleaned. I kept checking but he hadn't gone spontaneously blind so I just assume that he was (and probs still is) a willfully stupid and lazy fuck.

Thank you! Always had a lot of trouble with boundaries so discovering them as I grow has been really refreshing. It was painful but I knew it was right for ME and I was done bending over backwards to make things easier for him. That's really powerful "the day I stop talking to you about what hurts me". Like this is literally a privilege, for me to want to talk about the dumb shit you did lol. They do. not. get. this.

Exactly. My ex was incredulous when I told him this. He didn't realize that I would stop talking to him completely. He was like "I think we both know we have a connection and will keep in touch." And I was like, lol no we won't byeee.

Am I missing something? Everyone is congratulating the father and vilifying the son... but the father raised his son. I understand that in some cases despite being from a good, loving home some people just turn out bad, but it seems that the father should have taught his son to be disgusted by this behavior before it ever became a problem and despite, not because, he has a younger sister. I agree he took the right step (eventually, after investing in a tamper-proof lock!?) but something went wro…

Love this. I needed to hear this today. Developed a crush recently and with COVID already putting my next plans on hold it's hard to stay focused on what I was planning to do. I realize that it's bc I haven't seen a male in person in weeks (pure subconscious loneliness) and I'm not occupied enough and these "fantasies" slip through. I have to refocus on my dream life 🙌🏼

At least the toddler is a toddler!! Next time I swear I will take this for what it's worth and be like "thank you but I don't wear jewelry [don't know how you didn't fucking notice this] and also the [ugly] ring is way too big for me." I cried when my ex got me an ugly jewelry set (half of which didn't fit and was absolutely not my style). He told me how he had found it in a store years ago and finally bought it and how special it was to him and how he wanted ME to have it after all these years. Knowing his dating history, the small embers of FDS still burning inside me were yelling "he bought it for another girl who rejected hiiim" but I was like shut up shut up HE PICKED ME TO HAVE IT. I feel this now but in the PickMePast I'd either drop my plans for myself when anything came up (because I didn't consider it or myself important) or I'd say "well I was planning on washing my cat but this sounds more fun!" In an attempt to show that I was busy but really all it showed was that I had no loyalty to myself and would take literally anything I was given.

My ex refused to believe he was manipulative and acted like the victim when I called him out on it. One blatant example was how we were trying to catch a once-a-year event and because of traffic we ended up missing it and he was like "we can try again next year!" Except he couldn't, bc he was going to be moved to a new assignment and wouldn't even be in the area. I was just like "why would you say that??" This is interesting. Gavin de Becker ("Gift of Fear") says that pets don't form their own opinions but pick up on your micro-expressions. It's possible that you yourself made it known to your pet that you didn't trust or feared someone before you knew it yourself. Does anybody have any sources for other theories? I'd love to learn more.

There is something so wrong with him. I can tell by his facial expressions. They're fabricated. Like he practiced in the mirror. I've dated a guy like him before (not physically thank god). Not if they can't get in the bar 😂 a guy I went on a date with many years ago lied about his age and it was so cringey watching his fake get rejected at the bar. Idk, imo if you can get charged with supplying alcohol to someone underage it's no longer sexy.

Yeah that's what botheres me the most... like ok I get if you have a completely uncontrollable stream even if you get closer. Just fucking rip off a couple sheets of toilet paper. First of all, dab yourself (to reference another disgusting post in this sub) and second of all, just WIPE IT WHILE IT'S FRESH. This is 100% not red flag number one and honestly an excellent reminder to be ruthless or risk investing time into some manbaby that you have to coddle into basic hygiene.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/05/20 12:10 PM

Yeah maybe she should upgrade to a man who lives alone and has a nicer apartment than her. This reminded me of how my ex would spend 5 days a week at my much nicer, cleaner place and it was so exhausting. Like sometimes I wanna be the guest! Thank god he "wasn't ready to move in" or I might have allowed it 🤢

So cute! I think that's what spooks me, they are like kids 😂 they can speak and think and need attention, enrichment, training, trust-building, and they live for decades! Awesome! Reading is tough for me too. I'm used to too much stimulation (lol). How about audiobooks? I've found that I can only listen to self-help ones like Power of Habit.

Oh a birb!! I love birbs so much (my favorite insta account is facebeak) but I don't think I could handle the commitment of bird life, they need so much training and attention, props to you for building a lovely relationship with one!

That's amazing! Good for you! The human body is a magnificent machine and it's so wonderful to use it. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and the beginning was the hardest, but the more you practice good habits the more second-nature it becomes.

An older man in my friend group slapped my ass once at a friend's bbq. I immediately said "don't f*cking touch me" which made him get mopey and all like "woah woah woah" as if I was somehow overreacting. I'm sure he has done it to others and maybe they laughed it off. I still felt socially uncomfortable for calling him out even though I was 100% in the right. That shit runs deep.

Keep in mind it was and is ingrained in women to be docile and generally accepting of bad male behavior. She probably brushed it off bc she's been socialized that "boys will be boys" and she wasn't physically hurt so it was ok, despite her inner discomfort.

Also I think it is still dating related because if you're not fulfilled on your own you can't properly follow FDS. As a super codependent PickMe I had trouble with this and I think it helps to read how women find passion and meaning within themselves.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/05/20 03:20 PM

ARE YOU ME?? This is exactly what I realized about my ex after I found FDS. I used to make so many excuses for him and sometimes even hold out hope and after realizing everything you just said I can only be disgusted by the thought of him. I thought him being sweet and affectionate somehow negated how he was blatantly using me and therefore he wasn't a bad person just a good guy in a tough situation. Like nope. It's abusive and inconsiderate, that's the truth.

My favorite is the dudes with the magically exculpatory thinking of "I meant it at the time" like that he wanted to be monogamous... like what the fuck? So you just say things in the moment with zero regard for the consequences or the other person's feelings and no intention on following through, cool.

With pretty much every guy I've dated I insisted any BJ be in the shower or after a shower. Can't tell you how many times I got the "but I showered this morning" line after we had been walking around all day in the middle of summer. Even after a shower I'd have to send my ex back in for another round bc he reeked of ball sweat and he was so shocked to confirm it like YES YOU CAN'T EVEN CLEAN YOUR OWN BALLS NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS. Jfc.

My ex had a penchant for adding random girls on instagram (not models, just regular attractive girls, which made it way worse). I used to spend hours AND I MEAN HOURS with my heart in my throat checking the activity log back when that was visible (actually grateful that got taken away) waiting for my ex to like pics so I could see what he was looking at when he wasn't responding to my messages. I even had a few girls' profiles I was particularly hatefully jealous of bc he would comment on their …

It's the same idiocy that makes insecure men jealous of you spending time without them, i.e. "Where were you? You were with Josh weren't you! I KNEW IT." Whereas she was with a friend or family or whatever. They can't see women as three-dimensional people and hardcore project their own depravity and obsession with sex onto them.

Agreed, I've been through this before. A few months later the guy literally got on his knees and begged (obviously this is stupid and a dramatic show, not even remotely genuine) but I just wanted an excuse to resume a very charged relationship. It ended worse the second time and cost me a lot. Don't make the same mistake twice, ladies. Especially with the manipulative ones.

This is why you must test men. I once dated someone I thought was wonderful at first but once or twice I said something that rubbed him the wrong way and it was shocking - his whole face changed into like a grimace and he said something really ugly and condescending in response. I was so taken aback that it made me suspicious of him. He also had told me that he had never been in love before. He ended up dumping me but not before cheating on me several times. Oh man. His reaction was to say he'll leave if that's what you want and you focus on him reading the book. He is basically asking you to break up with him so he doesn't have to do it. Honestly I think he's just prolonging the process bc it's probably a pain in the ass to find another place to stay right now. I don't think they're faking it. Good for you! I endured a year of the same thing. It makes it SO much more difficult when they are great in person but distant/avoidant otherwise, especially when you live far from each other. It hurt me immensely and took a huge toll on my mental health but I didn't love myself at the time and convinced myself the one maybe two days a week of happiness with him was worth the 5-6 days of mental anguish. I'm frugal as well! So this has always been hard to overcome when on a date. I don't know what I'm "allowed" to choose and it has always made me feel super uncomfortable, which is why for a majority of my dating life (pre FDS) I've split the bill. I get what I want and take care of it and feel no obligation but then someone told me that this "emasculates" men. Just want to chime in and say that if he isn't even willing to put in effort and work on it when you are literally stuck inside with nowhere to go, that hope or how you "know" it could be a great relationship is wrong. There is no such future that exists in this reality and letting yourself think that is only hurting your present self. I find intelligence super sexy and if a guy can't hold a conversation on interesting topics it's a huge turnoff for me. That's something you just learned about yourself. I understand that you don't want to hurt him but don't forget that he is currently in a relationship with someone who is not in love with him and that's not fair to him. Oh yeah I've figured out that if a guy doesn't text you after a date, it's over. Spent quite a long time dissecting "maybe he's trying not to look desperate" "maybe he's waiting for you to text first". Guess what? I've texted first. He either doesn't reply or replies an inappropriate amount of time later with something else vague for you to dissect. Just block and delete. Or at the very least delete!

Yikes, I hope she is doing better or at the very least never disappeared after one of these "encounters".
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/04/20 02:21 AM

ALSO, jealousy from these types of guys is NOT a sign that he is into you, it's just another narc/male habit of marking his territory and just another sign he is purposefully wasting your time so you can't find someone BETTER.

My ex refused to call me his girlfriend yet I met half his family and all his friends in the area knew we were dating. When he did finally post stories with me I realized that he had made his IG private ;) you know, just in case one of the hot insta models he was following accidentally clicked on his ugly ass.

Ugh I'm sorry this is the fucking worst. I never understood how men could just pick someone else when you are the queen supreme like funny, smart, beautiful, affectionate etc. But I try to remember that I have not liked plenty of men who are "good on paper" and tick my boxes, for various reasons and it's not really personal and it's certainly not bc someone else is "better" than you. My ex made me want to scream "what MORE could you possibly want???" but instead he can be miserably unfulfilled o…

The worst is when they respond or ask you questions for a little bit and then suddenly gone for hours or days like I'm sorry did you just fall off a cliff? Or like why pretend you want to have a convo in the first place? I have a couple of these idiots around. One I slept with for fun (travel life) one I didn't sleep with but tried to tell me "he's been thinking about me a lot" after not having spoken for a month (fuckboi manual page 2). I have no interest in dating them because while they are n…

To add on to this: they make an effort to organize themselves to see you WITHOUT a fight or nagging them for weeks/months. I used to hold on to any little effort regardless of how hard I had worked to force (yes, force) it into existence. Intention is important!

Don't ever let a man waste your time like that again, sis. Sounds like some narc behavior to me, tying you up for hours each day so you literally can't do anything else or talk to anyone else but also never meeting up with you. You dodged a bullet!!

Honestly when I am out it has been the hardest thing to not walk up to a cute guy when I have caught him looking multiple times bc damn I'm out having a good time and maybe it's been a while and I just want to dance with a cute guy and make out a little. But then I'm like holy hell I am so tired of doing ALL THE DAMN WORK for men so I resist bc if he's looking and he can't even walk his ass over he doesn't deserve to interact with me.

Probably because she is such a pickme that she ignores public health measures and is putting lives at risk for some dick... sounds like they deserve each other! He chose to see her bc she literally came to him. Don't be that girl. You deserve better. Cute guys are a dime a dozen. My ex used to try to distract me from having serious conversations by complimenting me or my character lmfao. At first it worked because peak pickme but eventually I was like that's super disrespectful, I'm trying to talk to you, cut it out. And not he didn't change his behavior after these talks either. More proof that a guy doesn't have to beat you or cheat on you to be super LVM.

There was NOTHING on his profile. I chewed him out about it and he said he had wanted to talk to me first because a lot of girls swipe left when they see that. Like yeah?? I would?? Yeah I got fraxel repair ($4500) a few years ago because I have pretty bad scarring and it's honestly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, not to mention I now have permanent discoloration on my cheek. To add on - something I do kind of subconsciously now is to imagine a second version of me who is the "stern"/"big sister" one and sometimes she hands me the "no" I need before I can even think about it too hard or I feel like she holds my hand or talks to me when I need more strength. I think this is just self-soothing and a developmental marker I happened to miss which is why I sought validation exclusively from others for most of my life.

It will take time and listening to yourself but it will get better. I avoid confrontation like the plague and when I have had arguments I literally can't think I'm so frozen. But I'm gradually feeling more comfortable taking up space in the world and realizing that I can be selfish to the extent my morals allow and it's ok to put myself first. I received a hefty dose of emotional abuse from my parents and I couldn't argue with my dad without crying until maybe 26 or so. I feel you. I also cry when I know I will be saying goodbye to someone I have been romantic with (such as when traveling) and it's so embarrassing and they're probably like jesus christ she's obsessed with me but it's SUPER hard to control. Definitely so much worse around my period so I have learned that my tears mean nothing then and I tell everyone else as much.

This is so important!! I used to be an open book as well, had zero concept of what was okay to share and what wasn't because, as I saw it, I was just being honest! I think that's a maturity thing as well, although we both have boundary-less parents. I think you're right, if we loved ourselves more we would not "expose" ourselves like that to just anybody.

Same!!! For me though I've come to realize that my need for validation from men is rooted in being emotionally abused as a child and not feeling "safe" just being a goddamn person. Thank you!! I also didn't like Why Men Love Bitches because men are not universally blundering idiots and a lot of what they do is calculated and manipulative. Austin is single??? Better change my career and city to make sure I meet him (lol). But actually what the hell I cannot imagine spending NINE YEARS with someone like that's a whole-ass marriage. I've managed 2.5, twice and it has been tedious.

That's why disappearing is the best thing to do, even if you want to yell a million things. They want attention and your disinterest is infuriating to them.

Same. This sub has made me realize that all the energy I spend on loser men I could be spending on my female friendships.

Don't forget radium in creams for that "youthful glow" which was actually your body desperately fighting the radiation damage.

It's not what's happened in her life it's what's happened to end the lives of literally millions of women in history so like what now bitch.

Could also be a girl who is such a pickmeisha that her boyfriend has brainwashed her into hating women just as much as he does and the fact that he chose HER means she must be better. I've seen it happen.

Men are gross. Went out with this guy who I had zero attraction or interest in by the end of the date (in fact couldn't get rid of him) and he asked if I wanted to hang out again and it's the first time I've said "Oh, I don't think so..." instead of punting it and he was like "Oh well can I get a kiss?" Like what the fuck?? I just told you I don't even want to see you again and your logical reaction was to ask if I'd put my mouth on yours??

"Not Big" - Lily Allen, so funny. Doja Cat is fucking amazing, I recommend "Go To Town", "Juicy" and "Say So" and pretty much all of them. "Djadja" by Aya Nakamura "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks obvi And a personal favorite is "It's My Life" by No Doubt

Oh my god this is so weird. I started doing this a few months ago as a way to figure out how the fuck to love myself unconditionally after years of constant criticism (so bad that even yesterday I was walking down the street feeling anxious and wondering what total strangers were thinking of me and making up conversations in my head). Basically I was like I need to pretend that there is two of me. That way it's easier to conceptualize being happy being alone. Sometimes I've imagined myself holdi…

The other example is "he might have read it and thought he replied, send him a second text to remind him" I have definitely been guilty of reading and forgetting I had messages but I was definitely not into those people romantically. Essentially telling the woman to push a situation where the guy has thought about you MAX one time during the day. And if people are truly THAT busy I'm also not interested because I personally need someone more present.

"This never happens" yeah I'm sure when you're watching porn you do just great on your own buddy! They get so embarrassed/closed off about it I felt like the only thing to do was be super nice and understanding. Thinking back they were all LV in some way. One guy was nice and my friend originally (although not sure if he had just wanted to fuck me for a long time), but he drank so much I was shocked he still had a functional liver. Unsurprisingly his barely average dick almost never worked. He w…

In my youth I was once madly in love with 5'5 guy (I'm 5'4) with no jawline/chin to speak of but damn if he wasn't a smooth talker. He was also a psychopath, a liar and a cheater who hated condoms and in fact helped himself while I was half asleep. He also liked driving drunk. Spoiler alert: that didn't end well and he blocked me when I went off on him. Recently going thru Facebook memories/old posts I realized he had unblocked me. But like only after he got engaged to some poor girl. A teeny pa…

"Older men are more mature" 😂😂😂 I never date much older than me (late 20s) but did go on a few dates with a 36 yr old last year and LET ME TELL YA he blew that myth out of the water. Also, I believe wholeheartedly in trying to rile a man up to see past his mask. After I told him that at his age he should know better than to ghost me when we are in the same friend group this guy put his hand on my shoulder and mockingly told me that "he could tell that I had a lot of hurt inside" as some sort of …

I only recently started deleting numbers/convos when I could tell they were going nowhere and I actually felt bad when I got a "Hey how was your week?" text and had to send a "Who is this?" They didn't reply and I was like oh no I hurt someone's feelings. But then I found FDS and now I think they're hilarious 😂

Tbh I feel the same way and I hate cleaning them up when they finally die. I'd be all for a potted plant though, maybe an exotic cutting. But the point is that he listens to what you like and makes the effort to fill your life with those things 😊

This guy is an evil piece of shit who clearly could not handle the ego hurt of you not being interested in anything past his mediocre dick so he wanted to lure you in and hurt you. I'm sorry that happened to you. It happened to me too. I hope you no longer fall into relationships out of pity or sense of obligation to the guy. I dated a fixer-upper I never loved for 2.5 years because I let him guilt me into a relationship when all I wanted was something casual. Then when his life was turning arou…

It is not his job to "teach" you to like things you already know you don't enjoy. It's such blatant narcissism like "you hate spicy food? Well you just haven't had the right kind" as if your experiences are somehow inferior to his and you're not allowed to be a different person. Clearly he is looking for someone who likes outdoorsy stuff lol. Run from these types.

Don't worry I would also get a rush of joy when a guy I liked once in a blue moon started a convo with me. As if from this moment forward everything would magically work out and he definitely wasn't just bored. Live and learn sis!

Yes! I've been wanting a dog for a while but actually put it off bc a guy I was seeing at the time wasn't keen on pets (which is like... wow) and I was worried it would get in the way of our happily never after. I have so much of this nurturing energy that I hand out like candy that I think having a dog would really help me work it out of my system. Sometimes you don't want a full messy human you just want a little bit of companionship and cuddling during a movie night, and pups do that so well.

Aw thank you! I totally didn't expect a reply especially one that is so sweet! It's been a year now and I can say I am over him even though it was hard going essentially no-contact and secretly I held out hope for a long time. Ultimately we were not compatible (he's a conservative and a Christian who is anti-abortion - don't get me started) and now I know that I can feel that way and I want someone who makes me feel that way but who is also willing to put in all the other work.

This is so hard to read. I spent almost a year with a guy I was head over heels for because, when we were together it was like nobody else existed. He was affectionate, attentive, fun, sweet, we spent almost every weekend together. I met half his family. But he couldn't commit and almost never made plans and I was always hanging around waiting for his texts. It was a very sneaky form of "he's just not that into you" and I made excuses for him til I was blue in the face but ultimately I knew in m…

Had an ex who I can barely call an ex from when I was literally 16 continuously pop up in my life for the next 10 years apologizing and trying to "make amends" for cheating on me. Like dude wtf who even are you I barely remember your name. It is 1000% them stroking their own ego that they're such a good person for apologizing. Pathetic!!!
