Police and patriarchy are one word only. Their "bros" and "homies" need their protection more than a female in grave danger.

I believe that even we should have secret body cams on us at all times. You never know what that could pick up.

Abuse is so insidious most of the time that by the time you've realised it, you've been married for decades and have kids. It's still the perfect time to leave. Anytime is the perfect time to leave. You need to look after you. Kids will thank you because if mom does not look after herself, she will not be able to look after her kids in the best way. If she make a good decision for herself, such as leaving, the children will learn self respect. They will learn to leave a horrible situation.

She was painfully skinny. She was scared and she was so polite. She didn't accuse him of anything really. She simply blamed herself which was just fine with cops. No psychology needed for their job. They just need to fist bump people and it's all good. /s

Dahmer's case was horrifying. The victim was bleeding and even then they let it go. Here, there was girl terrified, but they just fist bumped her abuser?!?! How does this come under any sort of training these people go through. Every female can tell the scratch marks are defensive because they've either been in that situation or know someone who was. That's the sad state of affairs.

Police know what they're doing. If anything were to happened they would've hidden behind these legal technicalities. They know how inept they are for these things. In my country, domestic violence is sometimes met with the police "advising" the woman to "not make so much noise" and to go back and behave herself better. I mean. There's no winning here.

The pickmes are everywhere. Fb has too many of them. Our families have so many. The first ones to point fingers at a woman for being "wrong" to get family brownie points. The 27yo is obviously a pickme and attracts other pickmes. Helping them out is considered being jealous and pushy. Also having pick me friends is so draining. All the energy I have evaporates five minutes into meeting them. I'm scared for some but if I say anything against their husbands/boyfriends, then they get defensive and …

I am looking into this book asap. I'll start it today if it's available. I need to read this. We all do. We need to spot predators before they spot us. The re-groom and re-offend point really brings it home. That's how they break us. And it's kind of eerie but I've always thought of myself as a blank canvas. That describes me too well. I have zero likes and no preferences. I'm ok with it all. So I'm going to read the life out of this book!! Any other good book recommendations?

Yes I know. Why was that not mentioned? The cops did not even question him about him punching her I think? Why would they just overlook something awful enough to get a bystander to call 911.

They had already decided that she's the aggressor. They did not care about her side of the story. They saw the nail marks on him and that just "proved" what they were already thinking. A clear case of defensive marks. That's a big dude. She's skinny. How much more obvious can one get? She was also gaslit into blaming herself. In the video you can see even she thinks it's her fault.

I'm happy about the divorce. It's a clear line. I'm sorry you had a tough time of it. No one should go through this.

Their automatic instinct is to protect someone like them then. They were very sympathetic towards him but not towards her. They told her they won't arrest her like she should thank them for it. Unreal.

EXACTLY!! Those wounds were so clearly defensive! It somehow seems obvious to all women but not the cops. They should've been trained to see this kind of thing. I hope you're doing better? Getting choked is something I can't even imagine going through.

I am said to be "sulky" and "too quite" or "obnoxious" and "too loud". I never catch a break. So I get it. You internalise these messages. They become a part of you even though it was forced on you. It even becomes familiar and we start seeing it as a safe space. I'm glad you got out of it!

Yeah the blame factor was so so obvious. The way she was describing the fight to the cops showed that she'd already blamed herself for it. She probably knew that the dude would make sure the cops thought it was her fault.

I agree. The right eyes would've made all the difference. That brave girl was so polite inspite of being so scared. I cannot watch the body cam video again. It's too haunting.

Wait...so they'll say what they think, but make it seem as if you're thinking it? I did not know about this. So many things would make sense now. I actually bought into this kind of "projection" and thought that I really think like that. Wow. I need to think.

How is that a JOKE. How comfortable he must've been about that notion to actually joke about it?! That's so messed up! I'm glad you're out and away!

You've got to the heart of it. They're like a void. To get near them you need to have your energy sucked out of you. That's the price you pay. But somehow they make it seem like they're sacrificing more than you.

Oh dude. This is too close to my experience. I used to question myself "didn't I mention it? I'm sure I mentioned it? I don't know...maybe I was not specific enough". Then I started self deluding. I told people "I'm so silly I don't say things beforehand and then I give so much trouble" You were self aware enough to stand up for yourself. I'm so glad of that.

I'm sorry it's triggering for you. I did not expect this outcome also. I thought maybe she got scared of him and was hiding somewhere. Some people were saying that this could be a social media tactic for attention. Right now, I wish those were true istead of what happened. It is quite triggering.

Yeah the brain fog is dangerous. When you see the police cam Gabby looked so broken and confused. She kept blaming herself. The police also decided that the "over reacting" female should be blamed. A life could have been saved had this preconceived notion not been there. A whole freaking life.

This. I wish someone had told me this ten years ago when I was busy voluntarily giving up my freedom for an awful human. Till date I question myself. Ask myself if I did the right or the wrong thing leaving. I don't have a solid base to make decisions because things like this are not told to us at a young age. We're told to hide and be ashamed of abuse done to our own bodies and mind. I agree 100% with everything you've said. Start when they're small. The foundation will be built at least.

Dad's not doing anything hunt around the house. You. Are. A. Dad. Move. They come home and expect to be babied. Some dad's even get jealous IF THEIR ACTUAL BABY IS BABIED. Like they want all of their wife's attention. The wife works and manages children while the dad gets high praise for sneezing in their direction. No praise for the woman because "it's her job".
