I just picked up climbing man. Great sport to get your body into. As a 28 year old, I'm all for befriending anyone and everyone, regardless of age, who has their shit locked down.

Aye I made it sound easier than it is. I've been working at this for a while now. Ive also had some external factors play into my overall well being too. You have all the guides you need. No porn. No video games. No jacking off. No tv. Athletic activities 6 days a week. Cooking healthy. Meditation. 8 hours sleep. Extremely limited alcohol. No bumble or tinder. No new girls. Nothing else besides driving towards your purpose.

I disagree - depending on the situation. Maybe I'm lucky in that I can maintain a baseline of social skills from work and seeing friends once every week or two. But I'm a firm believer in no-fap. I couldn't get it up. It's fucked with my anxiety, confidence and masculinity. Why bother trying to game girls when I'd be getting false feedback when I could just wait a month until I started healing and actually being myself. Case in point, I got laid tonight without trying at all after doing this. Gr…

This. I just did a mini-monk mode (6 weeks?). I still suck at approaching and opening women. BUT I had two hook ups at a club last two weeks and I easily pulled the first girl I've tried off Bumble just tonight. Monk mode pays dividends to improving your frame/inner game/state of mind/purpose.

You're not wrong. But homeboy above is in the completely wrong mindset. I'm never gonna be taller than 5'8. Would I ever make a comment saying, "He was born with height. Bitches love that. It's purely generic"??? Hell no.

You just nailed my whole wardrobe. Long sleeve henleys, waffle shirts, vneck tees, chinos (not a huge fan of jeans), and boots or boat shoes depending on the season.

You underestimate what your body will be like at 6'0 200. If you actually commit to bulking, wait at least a year to overhaul your wardrobe. Source: I've gone from 5'8 130 to 185 to 155 (at the moment)

No, he wasn't born with a great jaw line. He worked for it. Do you see how jacked and shredded he is? You have such a defeatist attitude. Get yourself to sub 15% BF and you'll start to see your jawline too. Source: I lost 20 pounds and gained a jawline.

Great fuckin' post. This doesn't apply only to gym posts, but 99% of the drivel that's posted here. I rather grab a beer with a gym bro than almost anyone here. They would help me along in my journey to the golden snatch more than the idiot posting about them. Take action and shut the fuck up. It's been my motto the past month. It's wonderful.

I'm intrigued that you kicked your bad habits by going out of your way to get to the gym. Definitely runs against conventional wisdom.

Yeah I totally know that. Playing Devil's Advocate though, if I was spinning multiples plates and truly internalized abundance mentality, you wouldn't bat an eye at that statement. All depends on your frame. /shrug

Why are your recent posts hitting it exactly on the head with me lately? First the dad post, now this one. Just this morning I made a (small) stride in getting out of my head/shell. Girl in front of me bobbled her purse and caught it, I noticed, said "nice catch", she said something, I said something and we parted ways. She was cute. But not exactly my type. And it was 7 AM. Didn't feel like pursuing and left it at that. I was just proud that I actually was extroverted and said something.

I wouldn't call someone lifting for four years and 30 pounds of muscle later a beginner. "Ego lifters" aren't going to be using language like "advanced powerlifting benchmarks" when talking about their lifting because, quite frankly, they don't know and they don't care.

No one maxes out back movements. Your back loves volume, volume and more volume. Lower the weight and make sure you're hitting your full range of motion. Since you're lowering the weight, change your rep/set scheme. Say you were doing 5x5 at 135, move to 4x8 at 115. Report back to me in 8 weeks.

Don't listen to that guy when it's clear he doesn't know what he's talking about. Good progress. As a relatively consistent then inconsistent lifter, I'm in the same boat as you.

Powerlifting benchmarks are set by weight class. Someone that is 165 is expected to lift less than someone that is 225 given say same amount of training time. See here: http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/SquatStandards.html Let's not call out people when you're not familiar with the subject matter.

One of my favorite textbook response to that is, "I'm more like a coach nowadays."

You're not wrong about PUA and TRP - but I originally went there because I needed to solve the problem of building confidence in myself. It's the question of nature v.s. nurture - was this journey inevitable because that's in my DNA, or was this journey inevitable because of that's how my environment was shaped.

I have no idea what this means but have an upvote because I'm hoping it's a real cool metaphor that went straight over my head.

Hah - it's actually one of my wet dreams to eventually run a coaching business. I figure that if I fixed myself, then I can help fix you too. So I appreciate that last comment. I'm not as down as fuck as I may have come across. I'm simply super self-aware (and hard on myself), and I know I have not lived up to my standards or my potential whatsoever so far in my life. That's why I have "failed" up to this point. My confidence is shaky at best - I've never truly believed in myself, I've never tak…

Well I'm not a dad and I haven't really had a dad so most of this is speculation on my part. The first half of your question is a "it depends" answer. I have plenty of friends who have had great fathers who will be good fathers themselves. It is an interesting question but one that there will never be a clear cut line in the sand for. The second half of your question you pretty much hit the nail on the head. You help mold them into the person they are by instilling the right values and morals. T…

These motivational platitudes are the beneficial psychological and interpersonal impacts that many fatherless men didn't have the opportunity to receive. What's your suggestion as to helping them out and giving them the masculine presence and lessons they haven't had?

As a 28 year old man who has been fatherless for going on 20 years now, I have had problems with nearly every item on this list. Specifically - believing in myself, taking risks, facing my problems, and making my own decisions. The good - I've been making massive strides in all these areas in the past six months or so compared to the past six years. The bad - This is something that haunts me on a consistent basis. Wondering if the reason behind getting into PUA and subsequently TRP are due to th…

If she fucks you at the end of the night, what does it matter? Edit: One of my current FWBs is sleeping with me because I run circles around her, and that turns her on. So to your binary options, I'm entertaining her. In actuality, she's simply turned on by who I am.

Women and gay men are literally paid money to make sure Ryan Gosling looks like a panty-dropping heartthrob, and you're saying someone shouldn't emulate his style if it fits them. Well fuck me then I don't know how to dress well anymore.

I hit a two month no-fap streak around a year and a half ago. Half way through - one month it - I hooked up with a girl for the first time during the streak. I've always had "drunk dick" - get me 3-4 drinks and it's not working. Tonight we had been out drinking for hours, including about three whiskeys at the end. By that point I'm thinking this shit isn't happening tonight. This girl is like a 6-7. Nothing special. Get back to my place. My dick works perfectly. I was absolutely flabbergasted. A…

On phone so can't quote - but that last paragraph says all you need to know about porn and NoFap. I found the same exact thing. Feeling that rush and being in disbelief over how porn does this to you. Fap away. Just don't do it to porn. Use your head. It's not the fapping that's the problem. It's the porn.

I'm not a doctor by any means, but AFAIK not at all. This was never brought up to me and my face is scar free. If you've been dealing with scars, wouldn't you want to stop the scars at its cause - your acne?
/r/TheRedPill18/05/17 11:48 AM

Aye I feel you. One of my biggest problems is constantly playing on my phone while I'm falling asleep so I get that. So I just bought a little rechargeable book light so I can read in the dark as I'm falling asleep instead of having my phone right in front of me. Hopefully this helps myself.

Major props on the weight gain but watch that closely. There's no way those 2 pounds were all muscle. A little fat would probably make you look more built in the short term if you're that skinny, but at the end of the day six-packs are chick magnets.
/r/TheRedPill14/05/17 12:56 AM

Internet-five for bagging younger chicks as you're getting older. Major props there. No fap is hard man. I did it for two months at one point and haven't got back to a streak yet. Identify the reasons why you fap and attack it from that angle.

Way too complicated bro. You're totally right, use KISS. Go with the flow of the current conversation. When it dies out either he/she will start a new topic so go with that flow, or talk about whatever the fuck you want to talk about* - whatever the fuck you want to talk about does not include talking about, for example, how your sisters abortion at 15 tore your family apart.

Same - I still have dry lips and drank way too much on it. Literally had a month where I binged drank every other day. No blood work issues ever. Acne has not been an issue since. Wake up every morning feeling confident looking in the mirror.

Aye this thread is horrible. If you have acne that won't go away, get Accutane. Get it yesterday. It will literally change your life within months. It's not "scary" shit. Keep your drinking down for six months and you'll live. If you're unlucky like me, you might have to go through Accutane twice. Now I can eat two pizzas and drink a whole gallon of milk a day and never get a pimple. But real talk here people - if you've tried minimal, basic lifestyle changes - as in you eat relatively clean and…

Yeah. I agree. My achy joints are a real pain in the ass. So is the occasional hemorrhoid. Those things suck man. You know what's an even bigger pain in the ass? The confidence I lose, the gains I'm missing out on, the depression I sink into when I don't squat heavy ass weights. Lifting is life. Lifting is love.

Owen has been in the game 15 years. How long do you think it took before he got good? Lifting your ass off will start to provide dividends in a year - if you're consistent - and immensely help you. I rather be in the gym than at the bars 4 nights a week.

Add milk to your diet. A gallon has 2500 calories, ~80 grams of protein. Drink atleast half a gallon a day and you'll see the gains. Easiest way to add calories is to drink them.

If you're going to do them, don't do them until you need to. Going on a cycle when you're only squatting two plates isn't going to be very useful.

I don't know why you were downvoted. Anyway, any kind of beginning yoga will work wonders. Beginning yoga has a massive emphasis on your posterior chain, hips, hip flexors, glutes, etc.

I need to get my diet back on track. Lost about 20 pounds - down to around 15% right now - but stalled out due to... well just not caring. Any tips for getting yourself down to the single digits?

Yes you do. I used to have the same mindset. Adding direct core work has done wonders for keeping my torso upright while squatting.

Take up yoga. Does wonders for your body. Also, mobilitywod.com In my experience, most lower back pain/tightness is caused by tight hamstrings.

Completely disagree. Your number one accessory should be core work. I used to be in your boat of never doing any core work because squats/deadlifts. I was 128% wrong. Finally started incorporating them about 2-3 weeks ago every workout and I immediately saw the carry over to my squats.

Would like to add that while I agree with the sentiment that one should stick with a 5x5 for as long as possible - if you're getting bored and/or frustrated, it's ok to switch to a new program as long as you stick with it and don't program hop. I've been through brute linear progressions before and they frustrate me so much. Did Olympic weightlifting for a year, then pretty much took a year off. Hopping back into the swing of things a couple months ago, by all accounts my numbers should put me b…

Never think that the girl wants you in person based off of your text conversations. That will burn you fast. She could very well see you're some kind of sperglord in person and all attraction is killed. Anyway - my method is mainly body language 101 and how she reacts to you: Are you carrying the conversation or is she actively engaged and asking you questions? Is she distracted or is she focusing on you? Is she fidgeting at all? Playing with her hair? Her drink? Does her body language open up t…

I agree with you on some points - for example I hate AWALT posts. Yes, we get it, can we please move on? On the other hand, pussy is fun. Let's be real. Would you want to be a better man if it wasn't to bang the hottest girl you could find? No, you wouldn't. It's in our DNA man. Yes, you work out for you - your own physical and mental health. You're hamstringing yourself by memorizing canned routines rather than learning to improvise, because they could go in very different directions than they did in my examples. Canned routines worked ten years ago, but women are getting very good at sniffing out incongruence. Completely agree with this point, but I need to start somewhere, right? I feel like I have a complete mental block when I want to develop this kind of style - your style simply resonates with me. I practice the good ones over…

Nice idea. I've actually started the same in the form of a blog. I write today's goals, tomorrow's goals, and a little blurb about life for the day. Additionally it will also teach me about internet marketing and SEO and all that shit if I ever want to amass a group of readers. Hoping to turn it into a comprehensive self-development blog down the road. But for now it's simply for my own accountability.

He's also read The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. The reading 10 pages a day equating to 3650 pages a year is lifted straight from there. That being said, not throwing any hate to OP. Good list IMO.

+1 for The Way of the Superior Man That was my first self-improvement book that I read cover to cover. Completely agree that it's (more than a bit) new-agey in places and I tended to gloss over those parts, but the core information underlying everything is key.

While I completely agree that serious lifters need to get into a mobility/yoga habit as well (something I'm struggling to maintain), I would caution that your case may or may not be due to a: improper form, b: genetic predisposition, c: coming from a worse starting point or d: a combination of the above. Yes newbies should take it slow and steady, but I started lifting for the longest time without taking care of my body and nothing else active aside from being a Warcraft nerd. Everyone's bodies …

This is pretty much what I'm doing right now. Was up to 185 of solid muscle two years ago, injuries and depression let myself slip. Was pretty skinny fat a couple months ago. Now I'm still rehabbing and can't lift full blast, so I've been keeping a consistent every other day routine focusing on cleans, squats and back (can't really do any pressing movements). Also have been eating the cleanest I ever have. Down to the low 160s and I'm the closest to visible abs I've ever been - still have a coup…
