This needs to be downvoted to the 19th depth of hell, so much bullshit and anecdotes, more importantly talking about links so cancer? You know what else causes cancer? Existing.
You have Trillions of cells in your body, some fuck up and some dont.
[–]mrcooliest16 points17 points18 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As with everything in life, keep it in moderation. Taking steroids and busting your ass with no prior experience will fuck you up for sure. But to go all gloom and doom over lifting is a load of BS.
[–]EricDaGreat4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"Lifting half your body weight could put your heart in jeopardy."
For fuks sake, that advice wasn't written for guys that are in shape. What does OP want us to do, quit and die now.
[–]BlinkGravity8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Bodybuilding with the goal of looking like you've been taking steroids for 17 years; sure that's not good (nor do I personally think it looks all that great), but lifting to get stronger and create an appropriate muscle mass increase is absolutely fine and most certainly recommended. The only real argument you have here that is valid, is the use of BS supplements and steroids. In order to experience the best results from lifting, no supplements are necessary, you just need to ensure that your diet is providing you with enough protein to build on.
Bodybuilding is not what we recommend to people here do, and as such your title should've reflected that.

Retard shit, to the garbage this should go.

What hasn't been "linked" to cancer? Being alive is linked to cancer because the dead get cancer.
[–]Futon_Rasenshuriken0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Did you know that life is the number one leading cause of death?
[–]NakedAndBehindYou2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Are you stupid? Bodybuilders have health problems because of steroids, not because of lifting. And it's incredibly easy to avoid eating so much protein that you have liver problems. As for joint problems, just don't be a dumbass in the gym and you won't have any.
[–]NeoreactionSafe2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Moderation is the wise course here.
Addiction to extreme exercise as a way to escape reality is a real thing. This is true both for body building as it is for endurance athletes.
Don't do anything that makes you unhealthy.
However... if every Red Pill guy just did five sets of 10 pushups every day they will have a better chest than probably 80% of the guys out there.
80% / 20% ...that's all you need.

There's a long list of dead fatasses too. None of us are getting out of this world alive and I enjoy looking good and having sex with attractive women who think I look good. Does that mean I'm vain? I guess I'm vain then. For the record though, my life has gone nowhere but up since I started lifting, not just in the "having sex with women" category but in all aspects.

Wrong! To extract maximum health benefits, lifting should be done in the nude while chanting maxims of Evola and Spengler. Cloth-cucks will not understand or implement this POWERFUL method.
[–]writewhereileftoff1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Op's understanding of "lifting & bodybuilding" is clearly very limited at best.
Competitive powerlifters and bodybuilders are rarely natural if at all.
You don't need protein shakes or excessive protein to lift.
It is true you need to actually know what you are doing in the gym. Wich is why there are so many dumbasses getting injured every week.
The fitness industry is pretty ugly and full of lies and charlatans. Things like pre workout are absolute trash and completely unnecessairy.
Injuries are mainly due to bad form and complete lack of a decent warm-up or mobility work. Again dumbassery like ego-lifting way to heavy is prevalent in any gym you go.
However when you lift right the health, energy and looks benefits can't be ignored.
[–]Compeliminator0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
basic strength training is the foundation of any fitness program. theres no doubt to much volume or heavy lifting can over tax your body. to much of anything is bad. an average worker 100 years ago would make most gym rats look bad with the amount of physical exertion they put out during daily existance.. the point is ,if you warm up ,stretch properly and dont go full kill on heavy weights with exercises like squats and deadlifts you will be much healthier and look better

I agree with regard to protein.
High fat, medium protein, low carbs ftw.

This post is going to be en masse downvoted and hordes of gym brahs are going to go ballistic. For what it is worth much of what you say is true if body building and steroid use is taken to extremes. Most of the advice in here is more along the lines of do SL 5x5 but I get your general point. Bodyweight gurus correctly point out that body builders cannot do one arm chin ups or pistol squats. Extreme body building is basically a form of peacocking. Anderson Silva, Floyd Mayweather, Connor McGregor, Manny Pacqiou, Rory McDonald and Jon Jones are not jacked at all but they would annihilate 99.9% of people in a fight, and they earn more that any body builder in the world. Look at the UFC middle and welterweight divisions. Guys like Matt Brown and Michael Bisping. Hardly a visible well developed muscle on their bodies, yet they earn good coin, have extraordinarily low resting heart rates, and they are alpha as fuck. Google dead wrestlers as well as dead bodybuilders (the two are nearly always synonymous). Also edit your post and put in Body building everywhere you have typed BB. In here BB means beta bucks.

The post is crap because OP can't distinguish between steroid abuse and healthy weight lifting.
It's like saying don't drive a Honda car. Many of the Honda motorcycle racers have had terrible accidents and some have even died. Therefore you should get a bicycle instead of a Honda.
[–]88Will88 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed that healthy lifting is a good thing, OP should put in some edits, the post is too general.
[–]bigtool123 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
All of those guys lift, though.

This sub has worth if only based on the fact that this post wasn't immediately deleted and the poster banned by the mods. Reddit has a major problem in general of intolerance and hivemind activity.
[–]tfrancis33 points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
This was removed for no reason. It didn't break any rules. They just didn't like the opinion.
No different from the Berkeley rioters. Silencing another opinion, even though it broke literally no rules on the sub. These so-called "red pillers" are cut from the same cloth. They like to censor information they don't want others to read.

Read rule zero.
TRP's mission is to discuss men's identity, sexual strategy, and options in the context of our current global culture for the benefit of men.
Also
Address the Community Properly Do not address the community with imperatives, platitudes, or shocking titles. If you have a hypothesis to address, do so with respect. Bad titles: . Do x . Raise Yourself . Go out alone . Become x . Stop doing x . Ignore x
Your advice was terrible AND you can't read rules.
It's funny, I can go on the front page and see these exact rules being broken in many of the titles/threads. Hypocritical just because getting a different perspective triggered you.
[–]failingtheturingtest0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Ah, the old "I absolutely didn't do anything wrong. OK, now that you've proven me wrong, maybe I did. But so did other people" defense. Everyone apologize to this bloke now.
The old "everyone else can break the rules as long as they agree with my narrow circlejerk worldview" defense. You only care about the rules when it's something you don't like breaking them.
[–]bthepill -3 points-2 points-1 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. I agree.
My achy joints are a real pain in the ass. So is the occasional hemorrhoid. Those things suck man.
You know what's an even bigger pain in the ass?
The confidence I lose, the gains I'm missing out on, the depression I sink into when I don't squat heavy ass weights.
Lifting is life. Lifting is love.
