Whey, lifting, especially deadlifts, makes me less angry. Cardio makes me more energetic, more bubbly and happy. But to be less irritable, only lifting helps. The effect lasts about 48 hours. I just sit there with an amused expression thinking, "Seriously? You're trying to get me mad? I don't remotely give a fuck." It's like that gag from Fight Club - after fighting, everything got the volume turned down. Heavy deadlifts.

Much good advice here. Let me just add: Safety first. The good lifts are injury prone. An injury can keep you out of the gym for weeks. It can haunt you for life. You will have a fucking-around period while you try different exercises and get your form down. Be wary of injury in this period. Learn good form, either from videos or real life. Understand the specific injuries that go with an exercise. Always do one set with an empty bar to groove form.
