Seduction illustrates better than most that old notion of belief in oneself. The obvious equations don't add up. It's only about belief. The outcome really only depends on your most innermost self. It can be hidden to some extent, but alas that path reaps course results, and is also ultimately unsatisfactory. Girls are the perfect barometer of inner belief. They had to evolve that way. Do you really believe you have the goods? Some people do. Do you? Change your innermost self. Change your belie…

TL;DW: confidence is a skill and can be trained there is no magic formula for quick self confidence repetition builds confidence. repetition, repetition, repetition. your "self talk" should always be positive (e.g. Muhammed Ali - "I am the greatest") interpret feedback in the way you want (i.e. positively)

Push and pull leads to both love and attraction.

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.”

This is sufficient but not necessary. There might be another way. You can talk to women without ever expecting or desiring anything from them. This way you cannot be rejected either.

It's because you think you are worse looking than someone else. If this thought occurs to you, it is immediately written in your body language and on your face. Don't ever think this. Ever. Girls are attracted to confidence, not good looks.

I'm no expert, but this makes sense to me. However, time might also reinforce friendship rather than attraction. How does time lead down one path, and not the other?

I've been reading a lot of Buddhist stuff recently. Still can't shake the desire to learn pick up though. "When you don't desire anything, it's hard to get your bearings and change course in life." - that's almost the point. I'm not that concerned with formal logic. I believe I know enough to not hinder my pursuits. The happiest I have ever been was when I was desireless, so to some extent my post is motivated by my experiences. At the same time, I experienced all those qualities that one might …

Dude, That is some retort, and I like it. A lot. The statements I intended to make, or at least will make now, are as follows: Desire leads to unhappiness. Desirelessness leads to happiness (Both in the most general sense conceivable) Some more for clarification of what this means: 1 & 2 do not imply that Desirelessness causes one to not achieve some outcome. Desire may lead to achieving or not achieving. Achieving may give temporary happiness, but it is not the same kind of happiness that desir…

Boo. I thought I was adding value. Perhaps more accurately I believe that's all one needs. Is that a new concept?! I'm really more an occasional lurker than I am an expert.

Actually, I disagree with some of the answers here. It does not necessarily take a long time, and it is not necessarily difficult. The real question is, do you believe you are different? If you truly do, even the people that know you can catch up really quickly. It happens all the time. For example, when you meet a younger cousin that has just passed through puberty, or after their freshers' week, you can realise they have changed drastically, and you will adjust to the new them. Here's the real…

I really like this idea. However, I feel it needs some work to get it into the accepted flow. I am not the man for that job!

Something I would like to add: I find a great deal of motivation from writing down the the purpose for setting a goal. I think it is an important part of goal setting as formalising it will help keep you motivated throughout the process.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
