OYS #8 27yo, married 1 year Stats: 5’10 Reading MAP - Athol Kay Physical It's a slog. I'm still managing to get in the gym most days, and starting to take creatine and protein consistently after a slump last week, but boy am I tired of this. Mental/Spiritual NOT great. I created a MAP last week but haven't had the heart or energy to actually implement. A large part of this is because my relationship with my wife is actually good, which makes life very comfortable. Another part of it is because I…

Fair points, I need to stop using others as a metric for my wellbeing or "performance". Will keep an eye on that this week. Will check out the sidebar book, already read TRM.

OYS #7 | Making small corrections 27yo, married 1 year Stats: 5’10 and 165lb, low BF Maxes (take with a grain of salt, since this is with smith machines) Squat - 185 lbs Bench - 280 lbs Reading MAP - Athol Kay Physical Since my first OYS, I've started taking lifting seriously again, lifting heavy 5-6 days/week for the past six weeks now. However, I've stopped being diligent about upping protein intake and creatine, and my time-at-gym has been decreasing. I will work to improve that this week. HO…

My frame is weak. But I'm not sure how to avoid feeling isolated and alone. She asked me what's wrong last night again, since I wasn't paying her mind, and I said "you shared with me that you don't believe in this relationship, so that makes me feel alone because I am alone. But it's okay, I will be fine, it's something I will work through on my own." Her: "you're lonely?" Me: "I didn't say that. I said I feel alone because I am." This all looks like weak behavior in retrospect, but in my defens…

Your instinct will be to judge his and your actions morally, to see who had the moral high ground. It's very hard to argue for his case morally. If you want to understand what went on in his head, you have to realize that: Approval from his existing friends matters to him, because you are a reflection of him When you look bad in front of his friends, that decreases his attraction towards you When you treat each of these cases as instances where he failed to defend you (in the moral sense), he wi…

Before you call me defensive, I'm more confused than anything. And I agree with several things you're saying. I'm hearing "covert contracts" shared so much in this subreddit I'm thinking it's a knee jerk response to everything. Before my first OYS, I made a post about my relationship, and that was the first thing called out - by everyone. They were right. I did have covert contracts. Even though I wasn't thinking "if I do x, she should do y", I was still doing x so that she would do y, and dance…

Thanks for the in-depth response. You're right that I've been failing on tech addiction. Got it, I need to be more attractive, and less unattractive, and that shouldn't be "attractive for her." As for giving her the feelz, I meant I need to stop being a boring b**ch when she does get my attention, which I've been. How do I accomplish this without a covert contract? As for giving her comfort, I think there's something to be said for anticipating her cycle and adjusting accordingly. I know this sounds super blue pilled but surely that's a good thing right? I think there's an inevitable loss of control when one gets married. That's why it's "hard mode". I am committed to her, we have close proximity, and we see the worst in each other.
/r/askMRP29/05/26 07:22 AM
2

I completely agree. When she starts bitching I genuinely don't care. But what happens next? She gets progressively more upset when I "don't take her seriously", escalating to the point of saying she regrets marriage. Is there something obvious here that I'm missing? Again, I completely agree. I do apologize when I think it's merited, and I don't apologize when it's not. My concept of frame is not dictated by outside approval from the red pill community. Why would it be? Why is this an assumption…

"If I do X, then she should do Y" is a covert contract. It is an unspoken deal to negotiate attraction. "If I increase my SMV, then my wife will be more attracted to me" is objectively not a covert contract. It is a prediction. [edit] But you're right in that (from the article you sent) there's a high risk of losing frame with this kind of thinking, or slipping into covert contract mode.
/r/askMRP28/05/26 10:16 PM

Okay man, I'll take it. I think you're 50% right and that's enough. I have been leaning towards resentment and placing too much stock in her responses to my changes. So yes, that's something I need to change.
/r/askMRP28/05/26 08:12 PM

Okay, that would make sense. It's her trying to confirm that she didn't make a mistake. Then how would you address my situation? The wife builds resentment over weeks, then lashes out in contempt and lists all the petty things you've done wrong.

The red pill is a praxeology. But praxeology by itself just adapts to whatever the dominant culture is. In our case, it defaults to self-indulgent self-interest. I've chosen to commit to one woman because I am a Christian.

All good points. My understanding of comfort tests is that they are tests in which she shows a vulnerability and wants to check if the alpha male will also be the provider male. The proper response to it is to comfort her. The trouble is, whenever I come across these tests it's almost always when she sees me as anything but the alpha male. Rather, she has built resentment up over a week plus, and now that she lashes out in anger, she wants me to admit to my failures and bow to her wishes for cha…

During our dating phase I felt like I did everything right. - Outcome independence - never needy, never over-committed. - Kept things exciting - didn't overshare and didn't let her "figure me out", ALWAYS had something interesting going on or something to do - AA, Amused Mastery, shit tests generally passed well - At my physical peak - respected by other men etc. my frame was solid. You make some good points. Chase did sin in that way, though he repented of it. I wasn't aware of the dating course. I've heard some good things and some naive things from Pantile too. That being said, saying "1000% grift" seems presumptuous. I'd take your comment more seriously if you didn't assume the motivations of people. The Whatever podcast isn't Christian. Chase got popular by his appearance on it. I think you know this but I just wanted to make it clear. I do find it shocking that not only is there a lack of unity in the church, but that lack of unity cuts through the already small community of Red Pill aware Christians. Nothing wrong with that, but in our sidebar and in replies to others in giving advice, we go into a lot of depth and specificity with people. I think you're right here. The conversation doesn't happen enough because the American church is slow to react to changes in society. When the internet became a thing, the conversation became how to "not watch porn." Men I speak to now are realizing that the issue is much bigger than that. It has to do with the sedative and distracting effect of the internet as a whole, and the way in which social norms have changed in society over the past 50 years. I really think that "how to resist strong sex…

I'm asking what I should do in the meantime while experiencing this "gift" of singleness. Besides the obvious "work on yourself", my answer to your question is endure. We happen to be Christians in the 21st century. In most eras of human history we'd be married with a kid right now, but in the west men get married at 28ish, and competition for women is tough because of the degradation of sexual/social norms. It's not an easy situation.

If you don't have a car, make the most of summer. See if dating apps work, ask girls out in person, and if you live near a big city use public transportation. As for not being set in the adult workforce, mista_resista is right. Women don't look at your Linkedin. They look at how you carry yourself, your ambition, your displayed competency, etc.

I think you're spot on. Your friend is just a little behind in terms of figuring out what kind of man he wants to be. What you experienced is just him thinking out loud. The position he talked about does look submissive, so he tried to justify it and then backtracked. Cuddling is not effeminate (lol), but being needy is certainly not masculine. I think he just struggled to tell the difference. He's not toxic, he's just figuring things out still.

I'm honestly looking for that kind of mentor/coach. Moving to a new town. My strategy is this: There are a lot of older men in the church who want to disciple younger men. The fact that these guys want to mentor younger guys is already a good sign. They most likely have their sh together and understand God's command to make disciples It's not too hard to parse between men who I respect and men I don't. Those I respect are married, lead in the workplace and/or church, are socially capable, etc.

I'm okay, still in it tho. Instead of trying new things and discarding them when I get depressed again I'm trying to commit to a better lifestyle.

The more you try with women the more discouraged you get because nobody is interested in a man who doesn't have his shit together. - Cut off access to your copes! If you didn't have a tech job I'd say go and live in a place without the internet and access to a …

The best way to know how attractive you are is to watch how women act around you. I agree with the others here that talking about leagues is mostly futile. I understand why you want to know where you fit in, but it's just not the right approach to take. It's actually self-defeating. If you rate yourself in that way you'll be timid around women you consider in a league above you (and this will make you less attractive). Women don't find men attractive purely based on their physical appearances ei…

I'm sorry but what exactly did he do wrong? Sure, his response was naive but I don't think I should ditch him as a friend because of that. Isn't that what this sub's about? Encouraging Christian men to act more like men? And yet when there's a guy who doesn't know how to handle one particular situation you suggest I ditch him. What the heck...

Ignore women, focus on this. Now that I think of it there are a lot of things I could be doing to advance that (quasi) mission that I'm not doing. I definitely need to get a grip on my life and where I'm going, all of course while being attentive to God and leaning on his grace. Like others have said, her perception of you is still of the SIMP you used to be. That's my hope! Not saying it can't happen or doesn't happen, but it's generally not worth the effort because then you're paying so much a…

It's more just hanging out. The key to this is being your own mental point of origin, in submission to God. This is exactly right. I know that I *should* be completely unaffected by this, but I was and I wonder if that says something about me. I'm worried that I didn't make as much progress as I thought I did (because she doesn't see any change in me), and I'm worried that I took a step back in giving a f*ck what her opinion is of me. In the moment when something like that happens however, you c…

Link 1 & 3: yes! The first one is a sidebar post, and I think I read it some time back. That actually influenced my question. The third link specifically makes a lot of sense by defining the sin of lust as one having more to do with covetousness, or sinful intent. I'm still a bit confused about how to apply this, however. Does a holy version of sexual attraction include no desire at all, only appreciation? That seems quite impossible, but I feel like desire would border on covetousness. Also, is…

Thanks for these links, I was hoping this has been discussed before but wasn't able to find them. I'll look them over and get back to you! As for my lifting, thanks for pointing that out. I actually wrote that wrong. Since I use dumbbells I said 75lbs and 35lbs because that's for each dumbbell. In totality I'm actually still benching 150lbs and curling 70, but higher reps now. My arms are bigger than they've ever been at this point (I'm also measuring circumference) and my weight is also the hig…

Life and entertainment may be satisfying in the moment, but it is not fulfilling. Agreed. This summer I'm trying to eliminate "play" from my life. I'm defining "work" as putting effort into something that does not yield immediate fruit but is rewarding. "Rest" is doing activities that rejuvenate me. "Play" is doing things that are neither rewarding in the long term nor rejuvenating. E.g., sports with friends would be a mix of work and rest, Instagram would be play. And yeah, I definitely feel ho…

Nice! Great discipline here. How's your diet? I'm eating healthy, but not tracking my diet. Trying to eat generally whenever I'm hungry because I've always been skinny. I also avoid soft drinks and desserts except for once a week. From what I've read (which is a lot), dating apps are good for finding quick flings, but not so good for finding a good quality woman. I've heard this too. I'm using hinge, however, and filtering for only Christian's. Furthermore, while I'm not looking for a fling, and…

You're right, different guys are different. Just in general we value looks more than women do. But for sure they're more than the sum of their parts
/r/RedPillWomen27/02/21 05:50 AM

Guys at TRP don't think women are evil or good. They just recognize hypergamy as a fact and try to use knowledge of evolutionary psychology to hack the female mind. There are some other groups, like RPC (christian red pill) who are more concerned with becoming a godly man than looking like an alpha on the outside, but they still use tactics to love their wives by maintaining a masculinity/femininity balance.

Really good points here. Ill have to save this post. Yes, I've read a bit of dalrock and he seems convincing. Too bad he threw in the towel. And yeah, I guess pursuit can be an indicator of strength to a certain extent, but becomes an indicator of weakness when overdone.
/r/RPChristians16/02/21 09:57 PM

Yeah I'm for sure interested in the old school tactics and how they've changed. It seems a lot has changed since the red pill and pua heyday. As for the pursuit, don't women like to be pursued?
/r/RPChristians16/02/21 08:33 PM
2

That makes a lot of sense. I've also been watching a bit of pua videos on yt, but it's hard for me to justify being active in that area when RPC is all about following your mission and letting girls pursue you and not the other way around.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I both don't think this issue is worth distancing myself from these friends and don't want to distance myself from them, although it will be harder to confide in them now. Also, I'm assuming by "you do you" you don't mean to live in complacency like it usually means, but rather to work on myself instead of forcing a satisfactory apology out of them?

Yeah I get it, but the point is that you're asking RPChristians for advice when you've already refused to take their most basic advice. You shouldn't expect these guys, who take their faith seriously, to help you continue in a life of sin.

Thanks for your advice! Its always good to hear from guys with similar size/history of size. I'm cooking on my own, so eating more and staying healthy shouldn't be a huge problem (I too dislike dirty bulking). Could you describe where your wife is coming from? Who initiated the separation? Has she repented of cheating on you (that was more than an "emotional affair" bro)?
/r/RPChristians10/01/21 10:46 PM

While this makes sense, it's not easy to just snap out of anxiety. I understand every situation is different, and overall confidence does the trick, but what are some strategies I can use to regain composure when I'm in that situation? Just yesterday I was at a group gathering, and even though there were no women there I was particularly attracted to, I still froze up on several occasions simply because of how long it's been (covid) and my lack of social skills. Any suggestions?

For me it's really hard to separate mental and emotional from spiritual. A dependence on God's grace and being in His presence has been absolutely vital for coping with depression and anxiety.

I'm with you in many ways. I'm Christian, graduating college soon, I've grown up to be quite a beta, but after getting exposed to redpill and other groups online I'm realizing that dominant men are simply more attractive because they conform to what women for the most part want. I've been intentional about being less simpy and have started to hit the gym regularly, to the point where I've had several girls comment about how in shape I've become compared to previous years. Heck, I can even relate…
