Exactly. I firmly believe that in order to have friends like these, you’ve got to be one yourself. Whenever I get giftcards to nice restaurant, you can bet I’m treating a girlfriend, and not some dude I’m seeing.

Hellll yes. I am so glad I’m not alone in this love for crispy egg whites. Maybe I’ll try sharing this recipe with the next guy and see if he can follow basic instructions. 😂 thing is, none of the guys i mentioned had the patience to let the pan heat up enough, the egg white to properly crisp up, etc, before interfering in some way that made eggs less than my ideal. This also translated to a lack of patience when i couldn’t get off fast enough for them, or a general lack of patience with me when…

Oh boy. A semi-famous white dude in my field is well-known for having a creepy Asian fetish. He took an interest in me, and being naive, I was flattered, and truly thought it was due to my own achievements in our field. 🤦🏻‍♀️ one look at his professional IG revealed scads of scantily-clad Asian models, whose pictures he was liking and commenting I blocked and deleted, but a few months later, a colleague told me he was dating a new Asian woman. I felt a sisterly bond, and, perhaps wishing I had b…

If you only knew the number of times I've wanted to refer patients to FDS :)

Ha! “Good boy points” - i am stealing that. Wtf, he seriously thought you’d get a body modification just because he was recycling a gift that he probably bought for a previous woman? Gross

Bwahaha. I realized that the nickname “sundari” (beautiful in sanskrit) that he gave me was probably one that he called multiple other women, just so he wouldnt slip up and call us by the wrong name. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was previously married to a terrible gift-giver. If he gave me gifts at all, they were quite generic, whereas I put a ton of thought into presents for him and his family. He used to praise me as “just being so good at giving gifts!” Rather than learn himself, it fell on me to get gifts for our friends and family. Whenever I heard my a couple of my male friends talking about gifts they were planning on getting for their girlfriends and wives, I was bowled over by the effort and how well they se…

YES! I love that, and I totally melt when he references something I brought up in passing weeks ago. He had mentioned early on that he was only dating me, since he had no time to be courting other women. It was always such a stomach-lurching feeling when men I dated in the past got my stories and preferences mixed up with other women’s. What a pickmeisha I was to try and outshine them in a bid for his affection.

I wish i knew wtf he was thinking, if only as an anthropologic curiosity. I do still have them in their box because I hate waste, and I’m sure they would be hilarious to someone.

SIS, is the third one for real??! This is what happened to a T, right down to asking for a month to work through some stuff through therapy. My mind is blown. Is there somewhere I can read more about this? He actually did come back to say therapy hadnt helped but wanted to meet up for a drink, which I declined. I am reeling though. He didn't show any other red pill behavior before this...I just thought a month was such an oddly specific window of time...

Yes, same. I feel “lonelier” only in the sense that I’m not jumping into relationships as quickly as i may have in the past, but I know it’s better to be alone than with an LVM.

Yup! The last man who tried this told me that he was "stalked" by an ex. When pressed for details, he said that he decided he didn't want to talk to her anymore, so he made excuses, like an unpaid cellphone bill (🚩🚩financial problems and cowardice/avoidance). She paid his cellphone bill for him so they could talk! That's a pickme, sure, but how is that "stalking?" My heart hurts a bit for her, and I hope that she has found someone who treats her a million times better.

A HVM would never say that. He’d try and understand why his partner was feeling that way, and do whatever it took to make her feel secure.

thank you so much for your kind encouragement. I am working on it. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out this message, and hope you have a great week ahead <3

HA, so your prize for passing this shit test is his respect. . . but only until you actually *do* sleep with him, then you fall into the same category of all the poor women who fell for his fuckery before. where is the logic here?

not doing so great this week. I set a firm boundary with someone a few weeks ago, and he wanted some time to think it over. I think it's clear the answer is not going to be one I'd want to hear, which is why I haven't heard back. It sucks and I miss him.

Would a HVM stop seeing you because you let him pay every time? I feel like if this is a deal breaker for him, he was never a HVM to begin with, so nothing good was lost.

I tried this too. The most gorgeous woman superswiped me, and I thought surely it was a mistake or a bot. No, moments later, she sent a sweet and thoughtful message that indicated she actually read my profile. I'm sure my fellow beautiful straight queens are doing the same for men, and for what?? I am positive now that sexuality is not a choice.

I may have yelped a bit in excitement with the last picture. Lovely reminder that only one HVM is all you need, not a long string of time-wasting LVM.

Got it. Annoyingly, I’m in an area with a lot of immigrants, which is great in a lot of ways, but it seems that certain nationalities are more accustomed to splitting the check. I had been wondering if it is worth coaching them, but after your response, i think not. God. I’m thinking of a sweet man I met at a medical conference who invited me to dinner. He was still in training, but very cute and earnest. I was still a pickme, and fully prepared to pay my own way because I thought that’s what ma…

Was just thinking back to several first dates where the guy has paid, and in response to me either offering to split the bill, or simply thanking him for the meal, the guy has said something like “you can get the next one.” Bahh. What do you say in response? Is there even a second date?

Yes but did your LVM ever break your washing machine because he overloaded it (the poor idiot said “but it fit!”) he then tried to bail out the water with a 1 cup measuring cup and dripped sopping wet laundry through my home. I do not trust this man to attempt repairs of the machine.

Yep. He was no prize at all. But this is why I’m posting her as a cautionary tale, not a role model.

I hear you. She could have made many, many better choices even before the murders. She was far from perfect and is not a blameless victim. I guess my point is that society and her parents raised her to be a pick-me housewife, rather than an independent woman. After putting all her eggs in one basket, she felt she had no other options. For that, I feel very sorry for her.

Same. My heart breaks for her. I saw this is also on netflix now! Season 2 of Dirty John! [edit: my bad, it’s on USA network, only season 1 of Dirty John is on Netflix]

I was just listening to her story last night on a podcast. Poor woman. Gorgeous lady who could have had any man, and chose this ass who went to med school and law school while she supported him AND raised their kids. For what?? He had an affair with a 16-year younger employee, divorced Betty, and married the other woman. Don’t fall for potential. I need to be reminded of this constantly.

Just blocked an NVM on Facebook and IG. He is very influential in my field, and I was so flattered that he followed me in the first place and of course he slid into my DMs. He got increasingly flirty and sexual, but I mostly curved because 1) I have a boyfriend, 2) he's too old for me, and 3) there were way too many red flags to list here. Anyway, after telling him the sexual innuendo made my uncomfortable and he kept pressing on my boundaries, I stopped talking to him but kept following which I…

Goddamn. I needed this. I think it's so easy to feel like we need to do more and more for a man, but having a stranger reflect this back to me makes it crystal clear. Thank you.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
