I would argue that it’s much easier for a man to expand his social circle than it is to get a girlfriend. I belong to many different types is social circles and have never had a single romantic prospect come out of them since I was 20 (about 6 years ago). Within my social circles, men who are involuntarily celibate tend to stay that way, regardless of how many parties and events they attend. I personally find all my romantic prospects on dating apps. My reality is that I’m short with an attracti…

r/short? Last I knew, you aren’t allowed to use it as a space to lament heightism if it treads the line of lookism/incel content.

There isn’t any other place on Reddit for short guys to complain.

I see this happen a lot and I find it incredibly irritating. It’s as if there’s an unspoken rule in society that short guys shouldn’t attempt to outshine their taller counterparts or otherwise face criticism and mockery. For whatever reason, it seems to be the last bastion of acceptable discrimination—even among very left-wing “pro-tolerance” circles—it feels like short men are expected to stay out of of the spotlight and have all of their flaws attributed to their stature whenever they do anyth…

The more difficult a positive attribute is to acquire, the more value it has to women. Learning to control your emotions is something most people can learn to do. If it actually generated results with getting women, more men would be doing it and we wouldn’t have a male loneliness epidemic. Being in control of one’s emotions is very low on women’s priority list and often isn’t even considered unless the man presenting checks their other boxes first (looks and height being the primary factor).

If she doesn’t like his personality, then why is she friends with him? But if she’s just tolerating his company, then it isn’t really the friendzone, he’s just orbiting at that point.

There are different degrees of interest a woman can express. It’s not either all in or all out. If a woman is heavily attracted to a man, he doesn’t need to do much other than accept her advances to keep her interested. The inverse is also true.

The internet just amplifies the success of winners and further handicaps the losers from even trying—male and female. When everyone has access to everyone and everything, average doesn’t cut it anymore.

It also selects for men who approach women like it’s a game, and have virtually no regard for how the women feel. Men who are on woman #35 today testing which pickup line is most likely to get them laid as soon as possible.

If you are referring to the signs a woman gives once you’ve already initiated a conversation, I can agree with you. But I stand firm that no normal man can reliably tell based on a couple of subtle gestures whether he has the green light to approach. What about the fact that the majority of men are resorting to online dating? The fact that male virginity is on a sharp rise? The fact that 2/3rds of young men report being single? It’s not just a loud online minority.

If this was actually doable for most men, we wouldn’t have hordes of people complaining online about how difficult dating is in the present age. Most men are not so oblivious, it’s the signs women give that are ambiguous.

If people are in general are fine with men approaching women, then why are so few men doing it? Are men just naturally cowards or are they influenced by their environment? At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how most people feel about being approached, it matters what they tell other people they feel.

I didn’t word that part about men online properly. I meant that men are told both online and offline that approaching irl is frowned upon. Even if they aren’t explicitly told, you can sense that most men just know they shouldn’t.

If you can make up for it in pretty much every other aspect of attractiveness, you’ll probably get one. You’ll just have to endure getting bullied and mocked for trying. You’ll have to learn to keep quiet about your struggles otherwise risk being gaslit into thinking your personality is the problem. Funny how no one’s ever accused a tall guy of being insecure about his height, right? You’ll just have to endure being assumed to have privilege in society while benefitting from none of it. In the e…

Practice girlfriend may be a bit extreme, but I would say that flirting with girls you don’t actually care about and maybe going in a few dates here and there is a good way to maintain your self-esteem and desensitize yourself to rejection.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/24 07:56 PM

The only men who can plough through repeated rejections must have some sort of emotional detachment/sociopathic tendencies. No, being a sociopath doesn’t mean that they seek to harm everyone around them. It just means that they view others as nothing more than a means to an end. So any men that aren’t in the top % either pull out of dating due to their wounded self-esteem, or are making moves on women they don’t actually care about because they’re likely on their 150th choice. For some reason, I…

Hey man, I have a ton of sympathy for you. In some ways, the reaction from society toward being short runs deeper than just rejection. Often it’s rejection and bullying. People will try to gaslight you into thinking you’ve done something wrong when you haven’t acted any differently than your taller counterparts. Heightism is the last bastion of acceptable discrimination. Hopefully we will overcome it someday. But sadly for people our age, we will likely be way past our prime dating years when th…

I have been trying to explain this concept to people for years, and OP’s post really helps set the precedent for this point. Does this really seem normal to anyone? Should a man have to try his luck with this many women just to get laid? I would argue that this guy’s numbers are ABOVE average and it’s still beyond absurd. How is a man supposed to even be partially invested in his 600th choice? Dating has become a game for the vast majority of men that selectively weeds out men that are emotional…

Most guys don’t want to show interest because men are constantly told that their attention is undesirable. To add to that, very few men get their 1st, 10th, or even 50th choice. How much effort do you expect them to put when they’re getting who they can and not who they want?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/24 03:43 AM

This post is definitely going to be pulled as soon as the mods see it because of the wording, but I think there’s an idea to be discussed here.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/03/24 05:14 AM

Women are afforded far more privileges in their day to day life as the result of their advantages in dating. A man is not going to get invited to parties, bought nice dinners, introduced to new social circles, taken on trips, allowed access into restricted events, etc. because someone is trying to impress them.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/24 02:09 PM

As someone who has worked his ass off to build up a large social circle that regularly hosts parties, it’s a huge privilege. The fact that I ran into a couple of well-connected people who got me invited to my first few parties was pure luck and many more years could’ve passed by without me ever having those initial opportunities.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/24 01:48 PM

I have a feeling this post is going to get banned for violating some rule but yes, everyone want the best men in society but there are only so many to go around.

A broke college student sometimes has to eat instant ramen out of a cup or even skip meals to save money. Would you say that their experience with starvation is the same as a homeless person’s?

People’s bullshit are not as bad as you think. You can mask it for a bit it takes very little to turn someone off when getting to know them.

Decently attractive women who are mentally healthy and have the right personality for a relationship are a hot commodity. On top of being quite rare, they hardly stay single for long, so to be in the right place at the right time in her life is next to impossible. Add to that rolling the dice on whether she actually likes you back, which for almost all men is the vast minority of the time.

I think the root of the problem is at the simp level. Women are not creating the demand for OF, they’re just profiting from what men are so eagerly offering.

Processed food isn’t damaging anything. People secretly wanted this all along. People want freedom of choice and want to eat as much calorie-rich food as they desire. Of course the natural state of humans is to be obese. We finally advanced enough to allow people to pursue their natural urges. That’s how you sound.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/03/24 08:01 PM

It’s not women nor men’s fault. Everyone is susceptible to psychological influences. The system we’ve created takes advantage of our biological urges. Men are susceptible to having their dopamine receptors fried too from things such as porn. The minority of men who are highly successful on dating apps will experience the same thing most women do.

Just because downloads are following doesn’t mean people are uninstalling dating apps. Their userbase continues to grow. It’s not unheard of for people to keep Tinder installed on their phones for more than a year. You’re also missing the fact that competing apps like Bumble and Hinge are growing in popularity.

I have invested heavily into fashion over the last year, but despite an influx of compliments from friends, coworkers, and even strangers at parties, I’ve seen no increase in the percentage of women I can get with. I am naturally extroverted, have a large social network and go to parties often so I have a large sample size. I’m fit, lean, and have enough of a personality to easily make friends. I’ve always had a medium amount of success with girls and fashion has had no effect on that.

That’s because junk food in Japan is not nearly as calorie dense as American junk food and healthy food in Japan is way more widespread. I agree that the element of shame plays a significant role in influencing people’s decisions but again, governments and corporations have plenty of power to influence what their society shames. Lacking discipline doesn’t excuse people’s bad habits but if we want to fix these problems on a societal level, then we need to restrict their access to these things. I …

40% of Americans are obese. Do you really think any amount of education is going to cause 132 million Americans to have an epiphany one day and put down their Coca Cola? That’s good for you that you quit smoking, but it’s unreasonable to expect everyone else to transform their lifestyle without external intervention. People aren’t just going to “snap out of it”. It will take a very long time before before change is made, especially with billion-dollar corporations having a vested interest in kee…

It’s not possible to just “educate” society out of unhealthy habits. The main reason rates of smoking have dropped is because governments around the world have put down heavy restrictions, warnings, and taxes on cigarettes. Even my grandparents knew cigarettes were bad for us, there just weren’t enough disincentives to lower rates of smoking back then. Today in 2024, more people are skeptical of the internet than ever before but has that diminished its popularity? Absolutely not. If you give peo…

It doesn’t take a fraction of a second to walk to the next cafe, and there aren’t thousands of potential singles waiting for you at this house party. And neither of those conditions are as effortless and consequence-free. You’re failing to understand that the significance in this is in the scale. “We” is the growing number of single young people. Those graphs you see around this sub showing the rise single men and the rise in couples who met through OLD? That is the “we” I’m referring to. If sin…

It negatively impacts women as well, just in ways that are less obvious. It slowly chips away at their ability to delay gratification, in turn making it harder to form more meaningful connections which take time. It’s hard to get to know people when you’re on a hedonic treadmill, being constantly distracted by the next best thing dangling in front of you. Women are starving for relationships with men who don’t care about them. They can chase that dopamine all they want but in the long-term, they…

This is a lot more tricky than cigarettes because the precise effects are harder to quantify. We haven’t come close to solving obesity yet and people have known for decades that most of the food we eat isn’t good for us. Chances are when (or if) we ever solve this problem, it won’t be in our lifetime.

1 and 2. I never claimed online dating didn’t exist over a decade ago. The adoption of new technologies and their effects take time. That’s like saying cellphones have been around since the 80s and cellphone addiction wasn’t a problem then, so it can’t be one now. Social media is a form of online dating and as I mentioned in my post: a lot of the perspectives people form by using online dating are amplified on platforms where they can influence others. If that were true, OLD would be falling out…

Can a woman go out to a bar 7 nights a week from the comfort of her own bed in her pyjamas? Can a woman at a bar have 30 simultaneous conversations in one night? Can a woman at a bar talk to a man for 2 minutes and abruptly end the conversation without an excuse to talk a slightly more interesting guy right next to her? Can a woman at a bar get to know what a man does for a living, his hobbies, see photos of his body, and see photos of his lifestyle all without so much as having to talk to him? …

Our biology evolved over millions of years to deal with scarcity, whether that be in food or mate choices. Too much food makes us obese, and having unlimited access to anyone you want to sleep with within a 100 mile radius actually has real physical consequences on our brain physiology. We’re adapted to optimize mate selection within certain limits and to argue that modern culture has no effect on the choices we make—choices which can often have harmful outcomes—is seriously ignorant.

Humans naturally want what others have. The fact that it’s naturally easier for some people to get something is not the reason we attempt to demean them. It’s just a convenient justification that helps people climb the social hierarchy. And if we can’t climb the hierarchy, then we take out our frustrations on the easiest target.

Once I was walking through a park where I spotted a girl celebrating her birthday with friends on a blanket decorated with string lights. I made a note to myself that I should organize something similar because my introverted friends hardly get together and my extroverted friends rarely organize anything that isn’t a house party. 6 months later I matched with the same girl on tinder. Her first photo was from her birthday party so I recognized it. We went to a nice artsy bar and had a few cocktai…
