This is a great reply. Informative, specific, and relevant. Thanks!

One way to include numerous people into a single conversation is with eye contact and hand motions. You can often scan a group of 3 or 4 people and smile as you talk and they'll nod their acknowledgement. This not only lets them feel like they're included in the discussion, but it will often embolden them to participate and share their opinions or stories. Additionally, this will build your confidence and the group's perception of you as the leader and "glue" of the group. A couple of additional…

I think something to keep in mind is that women get approached all the time whereas men do not. So women's defenses are usually up - thus the inherent risk of approaching. Since men rarely get approached...of course we would welcome it more readily.

One thing I'd suggest is to practice. Practice in a safe environment where your goal isnt to get laid...your goal is to get comfortable talking with strangers. Parties. Talk to everybody...how do you know so and so...what's your major? Do you have an internship? Where are you planning to move after school? etc. Grocery store. Talk about how if you only had one less item you'd hit the Express lane. Smile at people stuck in line with you. Let people with only one item in front of you and and make …

When speaking to anybody...a good formula is: FORD Family - siblings...where they live...what do they do...how many...kids...ages...names...etc Occupation - what do you do? what's one thing you've learned through your job that you'll use everywhere? what is the most rewarding part? what are your goals? how long have you worked here? Same position? Recreation - What do you do for fun? What are some things that only the locals really know about? Dreams - What do you see yourself doing in 5 years? …

This is good stuff. I lost both a HB8 and a HB9 because of numerous infractions on the above advice. I learned the hard way what OP so obviously points out in this thread. Solid post.

Ultimately, women dont want to feel like - or give the image - that they are either bitches or sluts. Once I figured out that this drives so much of their behavior...it became MUCH easier to put what they say and do into perspective. And, almost just as importantly, how to properly react to their oftimes inanities.

I'm just glad that OP didnt say "Its fine" or "No worries" or some shit like that...that not only demonstrates pushover..but also that what she did was OK. I very much agree with JS's alternative replies...particularly, "Yeah, I was coming to the same conclusion. No worries. Take care!"

I talk to people in grocery store lines all the time...or in a bar, at a restaurant, anywhere. I think perhaps the fact that we so heavily rely on electronic media to communicate...the art of a random conversation is getting lost? Of course, I live in a very rural part of the country with a low crime rate so perhaps that's another reason why its "OK" for me to just open up a discussion with anybody?

agreed...just make sure you're getting that "rape-y vibe" or it could get awkward. lol
/r/seduction10/12/11 08:04 PM

Confident vulnerability is a tricky way to communicate with women. I actually just tried this recently and it can come across as sociopathic. In fact the HB8 I was with started to try to psychoanalyze me and ask questions like "Dont you think there's a better way to deal with that?" "That isnt normal, is it?" In the case of the OP, I suppose its an innocent enough situation where he could probably play it up...but just avoid talking about awkward situations as it relates to sex, kissing, etc...U…

You can always talk about the environment. If you're in a loud place like a bar or a party...you can walk up to her and just say "Hey. Wow, I wish they'd turn the music up in here! smile" Bonus points if you say it slightly quiet enough so she leans in to hear. A line I've used is "Man, those shoes must be killing you! It's a damn good thing they look amazing!" Really, the key is to just say anything. Asking a question is better than nothing. Making confident statements are better than asking qu…

A few things. You were intimidated by her looks. Dont let yourself be intimidated by a woman's looks ever. Sometimes, the prettier they are, the more self-conscious they are and the more open they are to a dude just talking to them. Honestly, the prettier a girl is - the more likely I am to open a conversation with her. So many men avoid talking to them, they're often starved for attention. Never...ever...let the first thing you say to a woman / girl be a question. Always make a statement...its …

Most men fail because they never try. You, sir, have just taken the first of many steps in the right direction. Never stop trying and dont let anything get you down. She smiled and she gave you her name. If she hadnt had a boyfriend and/or wasnt in a committed relationship - that could have well been a #close. You're self-aware of a few oopsies...that's the first step to fixing them. Nicely done and keep on.

this a million times. opened a set with a HB9 and HB6 a few weekends ago. the 9 was married...so I turned it off, said my goodbyes and walked away before the cockblock even showed up. Soon as i found the 6 was waiting for her bf, I turned the convo away from game and to just a superficial conversation. totally agree with this.

trust me. she's already figured out you dont speak french that well. she wouldnt have given you her # if she wasnt at least semi-interested. however, i wouldnt text her...call her. game is tougher in text...unless your french texting skills are significantly better than your speaking skills. go for it. dont overthink it. worst that can happen is she can say no. best? oui.

doesnt necessarily have to be excessive...just something that sets you apart. if you're going to a club where everybody is going to be wearing jeans and a striped polo...jeans and a white t-shirt will make you stand out - particularly if there are black lights...of course you can always upgrade to the blazer too. going to a college town? instead of wearing that school's logo...wear something berating their arch-rival. instead of "go us" you'll get a lot of high-fives and "fuck thems". i knew a g…

Couple of things I found that work are: go up to a group of girls that's just hanging out and say "I can't believe with all the dudes in this place, nobody has had the balls to come up and show you ladies a good time on the floor." or go up and say "need a woman's opinion on this...just by looking at a woman, can you tell whether or not he's gonna be good on the dance floor?" then lead the conversation toward guessing which of them is the best dancer...and/or rank them (if more than two) I guess…

good insight and observation. thanks for sharing. at the end of the day, outcome dependance is a killer. you have to not only put on that "shit-if-I-care" attitude...but you have to permeate your core...not to the point of being a dick...but of being self-reliant. as an added benefit, women find it hot as hell.
/r/seduction07/08/11 06:26 PM

nicely done...just make sure you dont forgo a # close for reasons other than you listed. sometimes we dont do something because we were content with the level of success we had...keep pushing the boundaries...and dont convince yourself to do otherwise. in any case, never hurts to # close since its good practice.

i get what you're saying, but disagree. if one of my buddies obviously has anxiety about meeting women, i'm going to help him out...especially if i have a few other buddies to hang with. if there were just two of them, id agree with you.

two weeks ago i met a woman at a store in the mall. i looked good. she looked good. i asked for her number - and got it. all you have to do is open a set and do whats natural. she took a few minutes to wait on me so i tossed a couple of easy negs in. she kept apologizing and i just said things like "no worries...i didnt have to get back to work or anything until tomorrow." (obvious smirk on my face). She laughed and we just chatted. eventually, she got everything taken care of and no-charged me.…

this is a good start, but you must quickly escalate or it becomes weird. for example, i used to give this girl foot massages and back massages...but after a few times, it was weird because it never escalated...you gotta take it somewhere or its just lame and both parties end up disappointed.

truth. almost every woman knows that ultimately a man is going to want to get physical. by beating around the bush (ewww) that creates an awkward situation. since sex is more emotional for a woman than a man, confusion is to a woman what a stinky snatch is to a man...total turn off. you must be confident and clear in your intentions. anything less is creepy.
/r/seduction06/08/11 09:47 PM
1

its all about confidence, my man. if you're going to put your arm around her...just scoot over to her, say "hey, come on over here" and as you're saying that, put your arm around her and pull her into you. if you just put your arm around her, that's creepy and awkward, by pulling her into you, you're telling her that you want to be near her. women want to know what a guy wants. if they dont, they are uncomfortable. men have a right to clearly communicate this and they are expected to take the le…

this is brilliant...chumps want to make the girl feel good so they use smilies...people with game let the tension build and forgo "lol" or "smilies"... that said, the strategic use of smilies...if you're trying to eject from a bad friendzoned situation could prove beneficial because it lets the girl know that you have no idea what her deal is and "lol...sure, whatever! :)"
/r/seduction31/07/11 01:48 AM

exactly...an orbiter is a guy that a girl will use for this or that...drinks, social proof at a party, facebook attention whoring (etc)...but there's nothing more than superficial flirting and a little using to get some bennies. A sidekick (AFC / surrogate bf) is somebody that is solidly friendzoned, but used for therapy, boyfriend-esque activities, dates (weddings, birthday parties etc), self-esteem boosting (etc)...only the woman has absolutely no intention of allowing the relationship to go b…

the man definitely sets himself up to be friendzoned...and ultimately accepts this...but the woman can certainly help him along to get to this point

/r/seduction30/07/11 05:37 PM

agreed...this is the attitude you have to have. no woman will hesitate to stay "stop"...but almost every woman will refrain from saying "go". the male needs to initiate and let the woman either participate or back off. if you dont initiate...nothing will happen because the woman sub-consciously doesnt want to feel like a slut.

i gotta get to this point...i know i can...i have a few female friends that i flirt with...but i was - at some point - interested in each of them. so i just need to disassociate that piece of emotion and allow a mutual wing. almost there...love seddit and being able to discuss this stuff. :)

it might as it falls under "mental health". before my divorce, we did 8 weeks of counseling. we had to pay a $100 copay each session, but were able to get reimbursement under our flex spending account. so, in my case, it didnt get covered by insurance, but it was eligible for FSA reimbursement.

love the thoughts on "why" they do this. And i agree. I think for most of us who are emerging from AFC status, though, we have to establish the baseline before we can delve into something as complex as establishing somebody as a wing...that we had feelings for in the not-to-distant past? I know for sure I could not manage it right now...but i totally get the idea. funny thing is i've had such a woman tell me she is going to help me out (etc) - but as you asked...she does appear to sabotage me fr…

adding value is a dealbreaker for me. if i cannot add value to a woman...and she cannot add value to me...there's no point.

if I knew a sure-fire answer to that, i'd be one of the happiest men alive! the reality is that each situation is different. At some point, I think you "just know" when its right and you go with it. One thing I can say unequivocally is that you never break consistency if there's high levels alcohol or drugs involved. it only exposes you and provides for her a very convenient excuse. if your girl drinks...learn to identify when she's sober / tipsy / trashed. if she's trashed, you can bet she will…

This is true...I accidentally used this on a HB8 by telling her that I was over her. She came back with "Curious...why are you over me." Of course, being the AFC that I was at the time, I told her and explained it out in detail. Fortunately, it ended up working out well because in the last few months I have seen and learned things about her that make me glad nothing ever happened. Crisis avoided. We've mutually friendzoned each other its working out beautifully. To anybody that wants to try to m…

Seems to me the symptoms have diminished so you're going off your meds. Not necessarily a wise decision...but your call. Beautiful thing about seddit is it's gonna be here when and if you decide you need a small dose of seddicine. I wish you luck.

Yep...I had the same "I dont give a shit" ephiphany months ago. Not where I need to be yet, but better than where I was...f'sho. Dont invest in the outcome of any scenario and you'll find that things will go your way more often. And, even if they dont, no biggie. Good for you, buddy.

Great post, OP. It's all about spreading out the risk while maintaining the opportunity for a strong return. I've come to realize the validity of all three of your points in the past month and have never been happier with being single.

I think Sun Tzu might have given you a pat on the back, buddy. You'll get it next time. Keep the FRs coming. AFCs like me need guys like you to remind us it happens to everybody.

Loved the FR...first time out in a year? I'd say that you did an admirable job shaking off the rust.

The person that wins is the one that can walk away. Just dont confuse "not giving a fuck" with "being cruel and subconsciously sabotaging". I've recently realized I say I dont give a fuck because its a nice defense mechanism for failure.

I'd say the right words help you more than the wrong words hurt you. Good attitude and body language will exponentially amplify good words. Good attitude and body language will simply minimize the damage of dumb ones. m2c

I'd start with drinks...mosdef. Use it as a pretense to plan an actual snowboarding trip. Trying to plan / arrange something as complex as that via text isnt going to work out well. Get face to face with her asap.

Read more reddit...it will come naturally over time. I'm an AFC, but striking up a conversation is something I've never had a problem with. Have an eclectic diversity of interests...sports (all kinds), read the news every day, understand food, drinks, fashion, music, movies...etc. You dont have to be an expert in all topics, just be able to speak intelligently about many.
