Down Home with the Neelys! Oh yes, I remember the complete ridiculousness of their show. It was so over the top it became nauseating. I remember saying how fake they seemed with how stupidly lovey dovey they were. It was clearly an act from day one.

I'm not defending him. Just saying that he did update the post.

The original post was updated and the OP said he made a typo in the title. His wife is 29 also.

Good for you lady! Buying a house as a single woman is the best investment I ever made. And after I'm finished renovating (by myself!), I will be selling and purchasing another home, as a single woman. I love having a home that I can call my own and do whatever I want to it. If some dusty can't handle the fact that I am independent and self-sufficient enough to purchase and renovate a home on my own, then he can get gone with the quickness.

This 100%. My ex got rave reviews at work about being a hard worker and always busting his ass to get the job done. I literally heard this directly from his coworkers/supervisors. At home, he was the laziest fuck I ever met in my entire life. Couldn't be assed to do anything that resembled housework/cooking/adulting. He knew if he lost his job due to laziness, I would have been gone in a heartbeat and he would have been out on his ass trying to fend for himself instead of me doing everything for…

No one says you have to do these things if you are married. If you want to, sure. If not, then don't. The point is just to not do them before marriage at all.

I am glad im not the only one seeing this!!! So many women I know are around 30, and suddenly their long term (3y+) relationship is over and they're knocked up by some goofy looking fool after 3-4 months. Then they break up before the baby even turns 6 months old.

My ex husband and I tried it twice. We both brought it up out of pure curiosity since neither of us had ever done it. He literally told me something akin to "we'll only do it if you want to, and if you don't like any part about it, tell me and we'll immediately stop'. And that's what happened. He never ever was the one to be like "hey, let's do anal?" I was the one who suggested we try it. Both times, I wasn't a fan. I asked him his opinion and he said he wasn't really either. So we never did it…

First, I am a black woman and do consider myself high value. Second, we're not here to attack each other, sis. That's not what this sub is about. Obviously Harry was fucking ignorant and awful for doing that, no excuse at all for it. But, it really seems like he has grown up and he's clearly been exuding HVM traits for the past few years. Feel how you want, you're entitled to that. All I was saying is that sometimes people realize their ignorance and do change.

Yes!!!! Never ever rely financially on a man! No matter how appealing he makes it sound. No matter how he promises to "take care of you". Always make your own money! I am fortunate that I was taught from a very early age to always be self-sufficient and always earn a paycheck. I bought my own house when I was 25, and I was with my ex-husband (then fiance) at the time. I had way better credit than him, and I knew he was a huge financial risk, so I made it very clear to him that I was purchasing t…

It's just awful. Whenever I try Tinder, not one of my matches ever initiates. Ever. On Bumble, of course i have to message first and literally like 95% of the matches never respond. Or if they do, the conversation dies within 3-5 messages. During texting, if we even get to that stage, I notice that some guys will keep a back and forth going until I don't ask them a question, or make a closed-ended statement. Then the conversation dies. The lack of effort from men is appalling and a complete wast…

What? He was my husband and I was in love with him, and was loyal to him as a wife. Not even remotely close to Stockholm Syndrome. I think you might want to look up the definition of that before you try and use it again

Yeahhhh, sis....some of this list ain't it. The best beauty hack for being a HVW is to be comfortable and confident with yourself and look how you want to look. If you wanna be tan, be a bronzed goddess. If you want short hair, rock that buzz cut you've always wanted. If you're naturally raven-haired but wanna go platinum, go for it. Self-confidence is the best beauty hack. Fuck what anyone else thinks of your look. Practice self-care and look good for yourself first.

Welp, I see either a reluctant engagement with a shut up ring, or a bitter break up for them in the near future.

Block him and go 100% no contact. Delete the texts. Get rid of any reminders or proof that he exists. Any time you think you want to reach out, or if you even get the smallest feeling of wanting him back, just remember the hurt and pain he caused you. That will be enough for you to continue no contact. Time heals all wounds. It's a saying that I used to think was such bullshit, until I got divorced. It really is true. Over time you will grieve the relationship, you will have highs and lows, but …

Take the high road. It's so easy to want to get some sort of revenge, but if you act petty, you will be the one who ends up looking bad. Even if hes the one who screwed up. Trust me, I still play out revenge fantasies in my head on guys I'll never see again. But I would never act on them because I would make myself look like a fool. I understand the hurt you're going through and you're entitled to be as pissed as you are. I promise you though, the best revenge is living well. Being spiteful migh…

I know for sure that he's not a recent convert. And I actually didn't even give the thought of him being in the closet any thought, but now that y'all mention it, he did give off some slight homophobic vibes. Which a lot of times is a cover up. Hmmm. Well, I'll never know since I have no intention on ever speaking to him again, but I will probably always wonder lol

Men's hypocrisy with body standards is fucking ridiculous. When I was married to my ex, I got up to my highest weight and was a size 18 at 5'6". I have always carried my weight pretty well as I have a natural hourglass shape. Even so, I've always had an issue with my weight and my ex knew all about my struggles with it since I was in middle school. He always made little quips about how he couldn't wait until I lost weight and got hot, or how he loved me but really preferred skinny girls. MEANWHI…

Which makes me feel better that nothing happened between us. I always trust my intuition about who people really are because 9 times out of 10, I'm right about them.

It's funny you bring this up. Last year I went on a few dates with a guy who I thought was a HVM. He has a well paying job, college educated, homeowner, doesn't drink or smoke, good looking, he seemingly has his shit together on paper. When we went out on our couple of dates he was a perfect gentleman, paid for everything, never was sexually pushy, etc. He even wants to get married and start a family someday. He's very religious though. Like, has a picture of Jesus in his room religious. He's 33…

Definitely see this all the time. Dudes will hit the wall and marry whatever pickmeisha is in the vicinity and dumb enough to go along with him. Then after they're married, and usually after they have a couple kids, he starts treating her like shit because he was never really into her in the first place. Then he goes onto r/ deadbedrooms crying about how his marriage sucks and his wife won't sleep with him, all while never taking any responsibility for his actions. Then when his wife has enough …

YOU DON'T. Take this from a woman who had a ridiculously selfish ex husband who completely blew up our marriage due to his selfishness. I wont go into all of the details because it's 5 years worth, but, never waste your time with a selfish man. Dealing with a selfish man is asking for nothing but disappointment, headaches, lots of crying and frustration. And it tends to bleed into almost every aspect of a man's life. And often times turns into jealousy, control issues, and lazyness. There are pl…

He wants you to travel an hour out of your way to meet in his city? He didn't even, at the absolute bare minimum of effort, suggest a place in between? Nope. He quickly just showed his selfish nature, and he's probably hoping he can talk you into coming back to his place. Possibly even spending the night so you don't have to travel such a long distance at night. I'd politely cancel and let him know that it looks like you both are not on the same page. Onto the next one, sis.

I did just this the other day. Signed back up for Bumble and Tinder. Couldn't believe how much I was swiping left. I don't have crazy high standards, either. But these dudes were bottom of the barrel, like they just crawled out of a swamp. Bad hair cuts, clothes they probably wore in high school, greasy faces, yellow teeth, long fingernails. I was in so much shock. And then the good looking guys generally had ignorant shit in their profile that made me instantly swipe left. I just deleted my pro…

Cut it off and do not respond. He's basically full of shit. It takes how many seconds to shoot a quick text? And even if he was busy, he could have easily let you know versus keeping you hanging. My guess is his main choice didn't pan out, so he decided to circle back to you. Don't be anyone's second choice.

I am so thankful I found this sub. Truly. In the couple of months I've been here, I have literally turned my whole mentality toward life around and I've never felt better about myself. Never again will I settle for less, and I am worthy of everything that I want in a relationship and in life! Thank you so much for this gem of a subreddit, ladies.

I seriously needed to see this today!!! Had a moment last night where I started doubting myself because I'm on stupid dating apps with no luck. I lowered my standards once before and I'll never do it again!
