So science is there to prove that women become even more wicked when they hurt. The more angry they are implies automatically that we are the offender and deserve the worse treatment. It's open season and they have a license to shoot to kill. Their anger is not specific to one thing, it becomes global and they project everything on us. It's just the way it is.

I know how you feel. It's normal to have mixed feeling. However you look at it, separation/divorce is a trauma and you need to focus on yourself, self care is now your number one priority. You're right she's probably plotting against you and you should not expect less so be ready. I'm the guy who didn't believe others when they warned me about the dynamics of divorce. I thouhgt I knew my stbxw enough and that she would be incapable to harm me. I thought we didn't have to bring lawyers into our b…

I understand that if the stocks were moved into a joint brokerage account, they became marital asset thus she's entilted to half of it. I could be wrong and there might be a way. Was the brokerage account funded otherwise besides the original transfert? Did you file your tax jointly? was there a loss reported on joint tax return? how about the profit? She might be entiltled to half of the profit from those stocks but not the principal. Your lawyer will tell you. Please follow up and let us know …

Find out the dad's phone # and tell him to come and pickup his kids. Wtf? she goes on vacation and leave you with her kids? no planning, no heads up ... she's setting you up with some kind of shenanigans and she's probably banging another dude as we speak. I've lived a very similar sitaution. I married a single mom and got burnt. As they say blood is thicker than water. You're lucky, you haven't invested too much time, kids are not your blood and you can sell the house no problem. I heard a piec…

There's a rule for a reason. Never ever marry a single mother, blood is thicker than water and she'll have no problem throwing you under the bus to enable her kid.

I'm not divorced yet but about to file. The shit my stxw has pulled off during our separation made me regret staying in this marriage for a few month short of 30 years. The last 10 years was a waste of time. There are signs that can't trump reality and I wish I took my instinct seriously years ago.

I agree, you don't need to do anything to earn your name but it's a born right and a privilege if you can bear it ethically. I feel better knowing that I'm somehow legitimately related by blood to my last name, it's still me. Otherwise I would feel like a thief who is ashamed of his origin and that would be a curse.

Love is more like an addiction, withdrawal sucks but is necessary

I see your point but this is not a coincidence, she has the name of my family and to me she doesn't deserve the moral right to bear it.

you make a good point but somehow I feel morally entitled to this name more than she is and it's stupid.

I'm originally from Europe and our last name means something to us. Call it however you want but it is what it is. I had to erase my true name and that wasn't easy for me, it's maybe a cultural thing. I agreed to replace it with a name I'm related to and although I have no legal exclusive entitlement to this name, it's hard to let it go. It's a matter of principle and maybe I'm being a brat about it.

So you were with her 7 years, then got legally married and she left 7 days after the 50k ceremony, correct? What triggered the decision to get married after 6 or 7 years? obviously she wasn't up for it and realized it was a mistake. You are lucky, she didn't waist more time and saved you from a bad marriage.

Sometimes tables turn. All my life, I've been the breadmaker, I invented bread and we achieved some major dreams like relocating from Europe to tropical paradise. But yeah, after busting my ass for her, her son and my daughter, I wanted to do something else that I love and so did I. I still brought some dough but it's a fraction of what she puts in. However, when I get where I want to be and I will, I'll make in a few minutes what she makes in a month. But guess what, if love is just a currency …

Well. I was always in charge of saying no to my kids. She made it so she would never have to be the bad guy. As soon as we separated she had her game on with the kids and I stood no chance. It was easy for two entitled adult kids to pick a side. I would not take their bs anyway.

In most state, marital asset is the one acquired during the marriage. Pre marital asset belongs solely to the original owner. Sometimes the asset becomes mixed if both spouses were commingling their finances and especially when the asset was mortgaged. Same goes with inheritance, it can be considered non marital asset or mixed, the judge has the discretion to go both way.

Congratulations and thank you for sharing, it's inspiring. About to celebrate our 30th anniversary, my wife hit me with divorce. It's been almost 3 months. I'm still working on my breath and it's hard to make plans for the future. Somehow, I'm looking forward this idea of freedom and I believe I'll be happier but I still feel very attached to her and I'm hurting. I tried drinking a little bit but it doesn't stick, never did. I'm reclused in my room office and kinda feel safe on my own. Lucky tha…
