Thank you for your thoughts. I'm not really mad about losing this girl, she was sweet and pleasant but yes, I was never going to see her again no matter what happened and the odds of anything interesting happening were low. I was just annoyed that I dropped the ball. If she had been the Stanford-summa supermodel nymphomaniac who lived in city and wanted only me, I still would have messed this up, so I was irritated with my mistake. Better to make it now, with someone who was only mostly perfect.…

Jeez, I'm not that stupid. She was showing every sign of attraction I could hope for. She was laughing at my jokes, responding instantly when I said something, treated as a good idea that we should go on vacation together. If she wasn't down, she was doing an excellent job of faking it, for some reason.

There is a gigantic difference between "not funny" / "not charismatic" and "garbage personality". Charisma is a learned skill; learn it. Humor is a little harder to learn, but it's easy to get in the habit of appreciating humor, and that's almost as good. Mostly of course, stop describing yourself as having a garbage personality.

I know I can still do a lot better, but that was my first try and I almost shit my pants. Each time, it gets easier.

Ask her something specific. Is she wearing some unusual jewelry or interesting clothes? Something that obviously pertains to your perception of her personally. If she's carrying a book that you are even vaguely familiar with, that's gold.

What? Of course they won't reply. I mean, not all of them. I actually find people surprisingly friendly, but I don't care how friendly people are, most people are going to brush off contacts from strangers. If you get 50% of the people you talk to to talk back you're doing great. It sucks, but the upside is, it's no reflection on you personally. Doesn't matter if you're Ryan Gosling, most people are going to ignore you. It's like playing roulette: the odds on each spin aren't good, but the payof…

Possibly Gina specifically, but most other women will correctly recognize you as courageous and self-confident. And that's a great filter. Would you want to spend time with a woman who regards your masculine virtues with contempt? “De l'audace, encore de l'audace, toujours de l'audace!”

It's not the case that every one who has the same problem has it for the same reason, I see a lot of guys saying, "I don't meeting a lot of women because x and y and z so I never leave my apartment." Uh, how do you know that you wouldn't meet more women if you went outside once in a while?

The diary is a good idea, but I would say is you should also: put yourself in the way of interesting experiences. Stop to help people; travel to interesting places; talk to strangers. practice. When something interesting happens to you, tell it to people, and tell it as a story. A few months ago, I saw the cops arresting a homeless guy. Homeless guy was hostile, cops got hostile; homeless guy was violent, cops got violent; homeless guy did not have a taser, cops did have a taser. I told that sto…

Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm. You had one not-that-bad night that didn't end the way you hoped. There are literally three billion other women in the world. (And, not to be a dick about it, but she was menstruating. Some women become more romantic during their time, but many are grouchy and irritable.)

You say a couple of things that I think are pithy and true: you never know until you ask. it's always a no unless you ask all you need is 20 seconds of courage and the rest is history rejection is better than regret. You said a few things I'd like to disagree with: if I ask her and get rejected (which I thought was likely, but that's not the right mindset to be in, but hey I'm still new give me a break lol) I think it is the right mindset. "This probably won't work and that's OK." Most things do…
