0	How do you feel about r/PurplePillDebate? I was oversimplifying because most people here don't have experience in this area, but thank you for the pedantry. It's funny how the removal of the simplification turns your statement from "STEM degrees are so productive that the schools pays you to go" into "STEM degrees are subsidized by government funding." The point is, this student is being subsidized. He is being paid to go to school. Former graduate student in cancer biology here to tell you that you clearly know absolutely nothing about how science PhDs are funded. and are considered so productive that schools pay you to go there. No student loans, no tuition. You even get extra money to take home and pay for yourself while you work. It is true that you don't pay tuition and you get a modest stipend.
