Are you both just proposing plans to each other? You should discuss the reasons behind those plans (you want 2 incomes: why?, she wants to be a full-time parent: why?) and figure out what is important to each of you and what you both see for the future as parents. Hopefully you can both approach this parenting decision unselfishly and make the best plan for the future.

I would have a conversation with your boyfriend. Be nice, honest and direct, but not demanding or pressuring. Ask him what he sees for the future of your relationship. Tell him you aren't ready for marriage yet but you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with him. And that in an ideal world you'd like to get married at 24/25 years old. Just see how it goes, maybe you both are on the same page and you're actually worried over nothing. He may not make any firm commitments in this conve…

I completely agree with this article! The 20s is a crucial time to develop one's career and relationships and just grow up in general. The message of "you aren't a real adult in your 20s" is ALL over the media. SO many tv shows with adults living like 20 year-olds. Honestly I wonder where it comes from. On one hand, personal responsibility. People should grow up. I know a lot of people my age (late 20s) who are married/serious relationship, and/or have careers. No one I'm close to has kids yet b…

Fitness: Last week my goal was to work out 3x. Didn’t do it :( I had one day where I walked for an hour…. That’s it. I’ve had other stresses that have been easy excuses not to work out. I need to get better at this but this is the hardest habit to get into. Work: Last week I was considering leaving grad school where I’ve been quite unhappy, and I was applying for jobs. Today I had a phone interview only 1 week after applying! I was so nervous during it, but hopefully I hear good news after Thank…

One concept that has always confused me is the advice "don't be his mom" about how you treat your SO. Because there's also advice about domestic cooking/cleaning/housekeeping skills. If you're picking up after him around the house and serving him meals isn't that mom behaviour? Anyway I've always felt that these contradict. Someone break it down for me please:) Edit, Thank you for the responses!

Fitness: Last week I did one session of yoga and one long walk. This week I need to be better about more and higher intensity workouts. The goal is 3/week and trying to finally start a strength based program I found. Work: I have been unhappy in my current position (graduate school) for awhile. I skipped school and applied to 4 jobs yesterday. Today I am home and finishing up one more application. I will go in for a half day today and then 3 full days to finish out this week. I am considering ta…

it's now been 30 minutes, and my boyfriend calls me and is very upset with me because I'm never usually late and now it's been 30 minutes. Then he was scared that I was up to no good and almost uninvited me all together until I told him I would rush over I have occasionally planned things in advance with girls, and then let him know that, so he knows that I will be busy for the earlier part of the evening. He is usually texting me the whole time to make sure there aren't any boys there To be com…

It sounds like on Friday nights, he expects you to be on standby, ready to join them after their pregame at a texts notice. You say you are generally okay with this situation except for getting through the hours of waiting and not knowing when he will ask you to come. First of all, do you two have to get together at all on Fridays? It seems like his priority is guy time with his friends. Having you be available to join at a moments notice gives him the best of both worlds but would he (or you) r…

This is the weirdest and most out of place post I've read here. Yes seriously! Plus saying "Faced!" with the hand motion. And did she actually swat him? Very strange workplace lol.

Men can want children and not enjoy raising them. That is the benefit of traditional marriage you are not counting. Do you believe that men generally don't want children, and to men children are just a neutral (or negative) consequence of sex? If so, then I can see why the traditional roles of marriage: breadwinner/childcare are unbalanced in your view. You don't see the wife raising your children as providing any value to you. I disagree that most men have neutral or negative desire to have chi…

I don't agree with your premise that women get more reward from having kids than men do. At least that's how I interpret your position. The reproductive goal of both genders is to have children, and in traditional marriages women contribute by raising the children and taking care of the home and men contribute financially.

In the beginning of my relationship with my current SO, minor issues tended to blow up into fights because it was more important for me to be 'right' and have the last word, than to resolve the argument. I didn't actually ever apologize but instead I would turn the issue around on my SO and try and get him to apologize to me. That issue took me probably a year to retrain myself to realize that it's more important to get past an argument rather than win it. Luckily he told me that this was a majo…

Yep I actually was thinking that as well, esp considering they were planning on multiple expenses: vacations, getting married and purchasing a home. I'd say these were more likely reasons he wants to go all out at work, not necessarily OPs income.

How long has he been distancing himself from your relationship and shutting down marriage plans? It's not clear to me that him acting this way is necessarily about your(OPs) income, really it could be anything.

My friends and I usually do either a craft night or game night. Wine & paint nights as someone else suggested, and for a cheaper option we have also bought holiday ceramic figures and acrylic paints and done it at home. For game nights, the simpler the game the better. One time we did an appetizer/dessert recipe exchange where everyone brought a dish and copies of the recipe and we ate and shared the recipes! More effort, and we haven't done it since but it was as lot of fun.

My friends & I love those too!! They are so fun. Ours isn't BYOB but they only allow 2 glasses of wine per person and have non-alcoholic options too which is nice.

Putting me together is a style blog I think is good for college students. Mostly casual to business casual and it really emphasizes clothes that are practical, fit well and are flattering.

I agree that for everyday mascara is just too noticeable. I curl my eyelashes every day and that's enough for my eyes to look more attractive but not "too much"

I once had a similar situation and the advice I got (here) was to let it go a bit with the cleaning and learn to live with things being a little messy if it means not hounding my SO to do chores. Also, even on a week when I do basically no chores all week and it piles up, it only takes me one day to do laundry, dishes, straighten up, sweeping and grocery shopping.

I don't like texting either and honestly when my friends text me constantly and want an instant response it can get annoying and make responding feel like a chore. (I'm female).

I love veggies so I may be biased. Try to find ways to prepare them that you actually enjoy eating. I recently started putting up to 2 cups of raw kale into smoothies with greek yogurt, 1 banana, and berries. If you don't like the taste experiment a little, such as less kale, more berries, or adding some peanut butter. That is a really filling breakfast. Roasted veggies: onions, potatoes, brussel sprouts and carrots. Cut them up, toss with oil and salt and bake. I cheat and use baby carrots in t…

I'm 27, engaged, been living with my SO for 3 years, no kids yet. Marriage is important to me. We've been together 7 years and still not married, and I am happy but I've always known marriage is in the future for us. So my answer is, I'd accept it for a while, but not indefinitely. I would never accept not living with my SO once the relationship got to that point. A relationship is sharing a life together. I think kids are a deal breaker. If you want, or don't want, kids make sure your SO is on …

Wow I feel terribly for what she's been through. She is hurting badly and so young. I know you're worried about her future relationship prospects but I think the real and immediate concerns are her safety, physical health, mental health, and self worth. If she's meeting men on the internet as a 15 year old she is in physical danger, plus taking drugs is a health risk. She needs effective therapy and treatment and supportive family and positive role models to get better. If she's selling herself …

Continue to be fun and appreciative of what he does for you! Sounds like you are good there. Learn to cook. Seriously it is a great life skill and then you can't have an excuse not to do something nice for him. Try not to reject him for sex as much, although of course you shouldn't feel pressured to do anything you don't want to do. There are a lot of posts on here recommending that if you're just not in the mood, still go with it and more likely than not you will end up enjoying it.

No you don't have to change your breast size or try to become more ticklish. The list is supposed to be traits that correlate with slutty behavior, more for guys to use on a "first date" and I don't think it translates to when you're in a LTR. Anyway, I don't see how the things you listed have a negative effect on your SMV, especially if your SO likes these things about you.

It seems like your first 3 bullets are about not wanting to live together before marriage. If you do feel strongly that you don't want to cohabit before engagement/marriage, that is a valid reason on its own. Your last 2 bullets are that you are afraid that living with you will drive him away. To me these last 2 are completely hamstering. Just saw your edit! Good luck. Living together has its challenges but it is so worth it! Congratulations :)

Most days I wear minimal: moisturizer, foundation only on any red pimples if I have them, eyebrow pencil, curled eyelashes, and a tiny bit of powder concealer and blush that probably only I can see. Just enough to look put together. My SO thinks I look pretty and I don't think he really considers that I'm wearing any makeup. When I do do a dark sexy eye he really likes it! Not really right for work though... :)

However he said that he doesn't feel very emotionally connected to me during sex. He also said that he sometimes feels that he's settling but that that's not necessarily a bad thing; that I'm the best match for him and his life regardless of our connection. I don't think I could do this. I think you should find a man that deeply wants you and doesn't consider himself to be settling.

Nothing about it in school. I agree the misinformation is widespread. When i was discussing possible career plans, my dad said I could have kids at 40 after working on my career.

Not religious, although I was raised as a go to church once a year Catholic. And I'm from and still reside in the northeast US. I'm new to adopting many of the rp practices, and it is definitely a departure from how I grew up.

Same here! I've been lurking for a month or so. Since then I have made many small positive changes. Little things like being more pleasant with my SO, making more of an effort to make a special dinner, presenting myself better even just relaxing at home. I've always felt this way on some level but its so helpful to see it written out and hear other women's experiences! I'm 27, been with my fiance 7 years.
