I think this issue could have been easily avoided by specifying separatist radfems in the title, or simply just saying “separatist”. It’s bad marketing imo, if your target audience is turned off by the title chances are other feminist who haven’t yet found FDS and don’t have the context will be put off too. I’d like to add that this idea was first introduced to me in FDS, it led to me reading the beauty myth and making a lot of progress with my self-esteem. The day I finally watched a movie by myself after years fighting the stigma was such a great day, I felt so free and content. Still working on taking it in stride, it’s easy for me to get bogged down sometimes. I read “Paid For” by Rachel Moran recently, beautifully written book that’s half memoir half scathing indictment of the sex industry. It’s a hard read especially the first half but I learned a lot and I feel better equipt at combatting the typical myths that are peddled.

I’ve never had a single male roommate worth a damn and I’ve had many, because I was a clown 🤡 I had the particularly painful experience of a female roommate who I was also close friends with becoming awful to me when I stopped catering to her every whim. Recently saw ‘things seen and heard’ on Netflix with the amazing Amanda Seyfried. It was a little cheesy at times for my taste but definitely serves as a cautionary tale and highlight many of the covert red flags talked about here. Haven’t watched dollhouse but I read the description and sheesh, can’t imagine they’d have many plot lines not involving sexual violence. I love sci-fi and watched the first season of west world for that. I found the rape scenes were egregious and unnecessary. It’s especially terrible considering Evan Rachel Wood herself is a survivor. It really is exactly like that. I made the mistake of venturing out and looking at some of those comments and wow. The intentional misrepresentation is astounding. There’s some poetic irony in it.
