You are doing the right thing. Having to co-parent with someone is not a simple thing

I was there with you in the same place 3 years ago. Allow yourself to grieve and feel the emotions. Reach out to someone you can just talk to. Focus on the time with your kids when you have it. Get some sunshine and exercise if possible. This too shall pass and hopefully one day you’ll see there are actually some positives with your new situation. Sending you hugs man!

Hang in there. There is no magic cure but just try to make every day a little better than the last for you and your son. Lay off the vices as they push your eyes off future breakthroughs and revelations but only numb the pain. You have to go through it and not under it. One day at a time and you might find that some good things can come of it, whether it be a more solid foundation within yourself or your son. Gods speed

I’ve been 50/50 for about a year and a half now. It hasn’t gotten any easy. Just talking with other people about it is a start. Days I’m able to get outside and move my body lessens the mental parts of missing them. I haven’t arrived at the kids are away so I grind part yet but slowly learning that discipline when you don’t have them = freedom.

Sounds great! Have a talk on “boundaries” and see what you’re both really ready for

Typically they are fine but if she is stressed out or I had a disagreement with her they are short. Mostly we set it up now where one parent drops them off at school and the other picks them up so no interaction

I also got in a gnarly argument today. She literally didn’t look at our custody schedule - and then was raging pissed at me because I couldn’t accommodate her bringing the kids sooner. I ended up leaving what I was doing to accommodate her and still got a truckload of negativity and venom sent my way. Some people man…

As someone who was in your EXACT same shoes with the same ultimatum given - here are the options in front of you. I now have a 2nd beautiful kid but am separated and co-parenting. Toughest last year and a half of my life. Stand your ground and communicate that your current relationship where it stands will not survive a 2nd child. Do whatever the heck it takes for both of you to get absolutely clear why or why not you want to bring another child into the world with a damaged relationship. A seco…

I’m feeling you on this. Definitely keep her blocked on socials until you can rationally not get triggered by it. I made that mistake and re-friended her and kept ruminating on it. I just returned from a trip with my kids and ex for a kiddos birthday and she “ran into” a dude she is or was interested while I’m waiting for her in line at an amusement park. Triggered: yep Taking a trip with her for the kids sake: Not again anytime soon. I’ve learned that exes are no longer a well to draw anything …

Thanks for the thoughtfulness in your response. At the end of the day I feel ok with giving up any reliable hope over controlling what will happen again except documenting and gently realizing there will be newer dragons to slay as the kids get older. Such is life

Overall horrible vasectomy experience with more pain than anticipated. My own brother says it was a breeze. Eff that. Mine was like repeated groin kicks by a concert cellist building up to the finale. That being said would do it all over again and some. I’m pretty sure I still have ptsd from my ex telling the world “We are having another baby or I’m leaving his ass.”

Thanks for posting. I definitely have been feeling this. Seems replaying and over analyzing can lead you to a ptsd state of some sorr

Right there with you sir! Still haven’t figured that part out yet. I have 2 gorgeous littles and also going through a career transition. In time perfection will fade away and the important things will become more clear. Eg. your health (mental too), your priorities and what really gives you joy.

Good to hear these things happen out there in the world. I know her intentions were good but clearly not well thought out. I appreciate this group so much - lots of things to work through!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
