They know what they are doing, swooping by to cause chaos…. Then leave you to the aftermath.

My ex makes scenes like this too. She feeds off the same drama that exhausts me and makes me feel sorry for the kids. She lives for it.

She does not, however, say sorry. That’s cool that yours is at least somewhat aware of her impact on her kids and coparent.

Everybody else is going to give you the evil answers and they're probably right. But I'm going to share the innocent answer anyway. Not every woman is the devil trying to destroy everything. You know her better than us, you decide.

Because she's known for less than 24 hours that she's getting a divorce and she's still sort of in shock trying to figure out what it all means. Maybe since she's freaking out she thinks they are too because divorce messes up kids quite often. Sure that's wrong, they haven't a clue yet. It's irrational behavior. At least her irrational behavior is to want to spend time with her kids as opposed to destroying things or people. She wanted to reassure them that mommy will still be a part of their lives.

The reason I think there's a chance at innocent motives? Afterwards she said sorry. That's a rarity on its own. And when you scolded her she didn't try to turn it around and make it your fault. She actually accepted that she made a mistake.

If she does it again then I'd vote with the evil motive options. But once and only once and it's good intentions gone wrong.

Good to hear these things happen out there in the world. I know her intentions were good but clearly not well thought out. I appreciate this group so much - lots of things to work through!
