There were 3 too many things in that sentence that made me go "what the fuck"

apologies, that was harsh paraphrasing on my part. I'm speaking to the number of posts that I've seen here recently such as this one that group rational feminists in with the extremists (many of which do hate men, and are mandristic and bigoted). The point is posts that do nothing but lash out at feminism do us no good, they're just bad press. There are enough serious, relevant Men's issues to discuss without resorting to unprovoked attacks against feminism.

the folks at /r/Feminism aren't as scary as you would think, most of them are level-headed. you don't need to use feminism as a kind of ad hominem; attacking feminism instead of male issues. you can raise awareness about divorce court inequality, about sexual molestation perpetrated by women, about the workplace dangers faced by men, all without drawing feminism into the whole mess too. It only ends up starting stupid, counter-productive flame wars. My main issue with the post is that it general…

ugh, it's posts like these that give us a bad name. I've said it before but I'll say it again: MENS RIGHTS IS NOT AN ANTI-FEMINISM GROUP This post has absolutely nothing to do with men's rights at all, it's making broad generalizations about an entire group, something we're supposed to be AGAINST! Judging an entire group by the actions of the loudest members is one of the reasons we get labeled a hate group. extremists get noticed, rational and sensible people do not.

Great reply, thank you for better putting into words what I'm on the fence about in this issue, I always have trouble doing that. I do not train my girlfriend and she doesn't train me, but we do modify our behaviors according to compromise. "Training" implies that one person modifies the behavior of the other against their will or without their explicit knowledge or consent. "Compromising" implies that one person explicitly consents to modify their behavior based on the logical and reasonable re…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies I have this bookmarked to recognize and point out bad logic that is abundant in most internet flame wars.

I agree. It seems ever since this subreddit received a fair bit of attention from the whole "SRS incident", it's slowly been turning from /r/MensRights to /r/AntiFeminism. And while some of those posts are from trolls, I think a fair portion of them are from newer subscribers who don't really understand the real goals and values of this community. That's my 2 cents anyways.

I'll try that, unfortunately everyone is supposed to have read the article beforehand, so they will know that I have switched the genders, but I'll definitely give it a try and see if it changes some people's views

That's actually a pretty accurate comparison. whenever I've brought up the issue of whole "you should be lucky you got some action!" responses that come with woman raping men I'm usually met with a remark along the lines of, "Oh they're just trying to be funny, obviously they know that rape is a serious issue". Same thing goes here, of course theyre only trying to be funny, and yet nobody treats those kind of remarks lightly.

essentially a group of vigilantes that go around downvoting the shit of everything they see unfit? is that correct?
/r/MensRights13/02/12 07:30 AM

can someone explain to me the concept behind r/SRS? looked it up and it just looks like a gigantic circlejerk of nonsense. Who are these people, what are their goals, what is the point of the subreddit, etc.

Almost had to close it about three quarters of the way through, mostly because it seemed to be turning into a pretty childish shouting contest than any kind of coherant debate. All of her rebuttals (if that's what you want to call them) are laughable, bringing nothing to the table except cheap personal insults towards her opponent. so you feel like you don't get enough gifts? is that the issue? No, the issue is that we're FORCED to buy YOU expensive gifts, take YOU out for an expensive dinner, e…
